Few people talk with them now. They can’t afford to fix small things at home and often feel lonely. We plan to clean their rooms, fix small furniture, and chat with them about interesting things at school. We’ll do it next weekend. We’ll meet at the neighborhood gate at 9 am. It might be hard for us to fix some furniture. We may need to ask uncles or aunts in the neighborhood for help. We only have half a day. Our time is only enough for 3 elderly families. We can learn to care about elders and hear many old stories from them. This activity will make the elderly happy and let more people in the neighborhood care about them. I still remember a meaningful experience that happened last month. On my way to school, I saw a little girl crying at the bus stop. She told me she had lost her way and couldn’t find her mum. First, I comforted her softly and gave her my bottle of water. Then I asked for her mum’s phone number and called her immediately. Ten minutes later, her mum arrived and thanked me again and again. This experience made me realize that helping others doesn’t need to be difficult. A small act of kindness can make a big difference.
