The Earth is our home. There are some ways that you and your family can use to help the planet and make a difference.
①Use less water. Take shorter showers. A 10-minute shower or a full bathtub (浴缸) can waste a lot of water. Also, turn off the tap as you brush your teeth. Use less water in the garden and let the rain clean cars.
②Avoid wasting food. Don’t take more than you can eat. About one - third of food in some areas is thrown out or wasted.
③Care and repair. Take good care of the things you own and they will last longer. If they break, try to repair them. If you can’t repair them, call a repairman. Producing new goods will add CO₂ to the air.
④Use reusable bags. Use plastic and paper bags more than once. When you go shopping, use cloth bags instead of plastic ones.
⑤Use fewer paper cups. Use reusable cups instead of throwaway paper cups if necessary. If you use more paper cups, you will produce more rubbish.

(2026·广东深圳·一模)① A popular saying goes, “One person’s junk is another person’s treasure.” There certainly is some truth in it. Rather than using paint, ink or other traditional materials, many artists are turning to discarded (废弃的) materials to create their artwork.
② It’s a well-known fact that artists have been using discarded resources for a long time. One of the reasons for this is that traditional art resources such as paint, clay and metal can be extremely expensive. Another reason is that some artists want to bring attention to the fact that people throw away a lot of perfectly useful items.
③ Artists may seem avant-garde (前卫的) by using garbage as the material for their artwork. For example, most people wouldn’t think that a plastic bag would have an artistic purpose. However, some artists have shown photos of breathtaking landscapes and ocean surfaces created using only plastic bags. And something called “auto-destructive art” is another example. The idea has existed since the 1960s. This means that an object doesn’t start out as art. It becomes beautiful as it breaks or becomes old and worn. If you have seen broken glass, you can understand this idea better.
④ Some artists just want to create something that will make people think about important problems. One popular theme in art is the importance of reducing environmental waste. A few years ago, A large work of art called World of Litter received international attention. The artist, Peter Singer, created a huge globe that floated on water. It was bigger than some of the local boats! Singer created it by collecting hundreds of bottles and other forms of plastic waste.
⑤ The discarded materials make beautiful artwork. Besides, they provide hope for the future by bringing about environmental awareness.
11.Why do artists use discarded materials to create art according to Paragraph 2?
A.All traditional art materials cost too much.
B.They want to sell their art at higher prices.
C.Traditional art materials are hard to get.
D.They want to remind people not to waste useful things.
12.Which of the following is an example of “auto-destructive art”?
A.An old famous painting that is kept in a museum.
B.A bottle filled with beans on a new table.
C.A broken bicycle in a yard with plants growing around it.
D.A picture of a tree.
13.According to the passage, which of the following may be one of the reasons that Peter Singer created World of Litter?
A.To create a tool for water transportation.
B.To collect plastic bottles.
C.To raise awareness about environmental waste.
D.To make himself become famous.
14.Which of the following best describes the structure of the passage?
A.①②→③④→⑤ B.①→②③④→⑤ C.①→②③→④⑤ D.①②③→④→⑤
15.What is the purpose of this passage?
A.To inform about discarded materials being used for art.
B.To share the idea that garbage makes better art.
C.To call on people to fight against pollution.
D.To teach the readers to make art out of garbage.

(2026·广东东莞·一模)Plastic waste is an increasingly serious problem. Up to now, only 9% of the plastics ever produced have been recycled. The rest remain on earth for hundreds of years. They are washed out into the ocean to become rubbish, harm wildlife and break down into small plastics that can enter our bodies.
Recently, scientists have developed a new method to break down plastic waste with the help of water in the air.The researchers mixed a special metal and activated carbon (活性炭) with PET, the most common type of polyester (聚酯纤维) plastic. Then they heated the composite. After a short time, this broke the chemical connections in the polyester. Next, when the team left the material in the air, the mixture turned into TPA, a polyester material, and acetaldehyde (乙醛), an industrial chemical. Finally, these valuable chemical materials were recycled.
After the first success, researchers tested the method on different plastics and found it worked on polyester plastic only. That meant they didn’t need to separate different kinds of plastics. Also, when they added water, it stopped working because the amount (量) of water in the air was just right.
The team’s next plan will be to use the method widely in industry.
“It’s hopeful that our technology can hugely reduce plastic pollution, lower the environmental footprint of plastics and help materials be reused instead of being thrown away,” researchers said. “It’s a large change towards a cleaner, greener future, and it shows how creative chemistry can solve world challenges in a way that joins hands with nature.”
21.What harm of plastics is mentioned in Paragraph 1?
A.Polluting the sea. B.Warming the air. C.Reducing wetland. D.Causing wildfires.
22.How did the team do the research?
①Heat the mixture. ②Leave the mixture in the air. ③Recycle the chemical materials.
④Mix a special metal and activated carbon with PET.
A.④-②-①-③ B.④-②-③-① C.④-①-②-③ D.④-①-③-②
23.What does the underlined word “composite” mean in Paragraph 2?
A.A kind of drink. B.Dirty waste that cannot be used.
C.A piece of hard metal. D.A mixture of different materials.
24.What do the researchers think of their technology?
A.It will improve people’s creativity.
B.It will help with a green environment.
C.It will prevent people from using plastics.
D.It will stop the present pollution problems.
25.Which can be the best title for the passage?
A.Recycle Metals from Plastic Waste
B.Put Plastics into Wider Farming Use
C.Recycle Plastics for a Cleaner Future
D.Improve Plastic Production

For over 30 years, Li Yunli has picked up rubbish around Dianchi Lake in Kunming. Dianchi, once called a “pearl (珍珠)” of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, was heavily polluted in the 1990s. “The water smelled terrible, and fish disappeared. I grew up by the lake and this really broke our hearts,” said Li Yunli, whose family made a living by fishing.
To protect their mother lake, Li Yunli and other local women formed a volunteer team in 1988. They used their fishing boats to collect rubbish from the lake every day. Moved by their efforts, more and more women joined the team. With the government’s support, their work became easier to carry out. In the past, the lake was filled with household waste, unwanted furniture and dead animals. Now, there are mainly dead water plants and withered leaves.
Kunming’s efforts to treat the waters have led to many positive changes in recent years. Since 2018, the lake’s water quality (质量) has improved greatly. “Now the water has become clearer, and many fish species that disappeared have returned,” Li Yunli said happily.
In the past few years, many people have left the clean-up team, but Li Yunli has stayed. She will continue to work with her teammates, hoping that more young people will join in the effort to protect Dianchi Lake.

It’s是It is的缩写,句中已有谓语was,结构重复;It是人称代词主格,不能修饰名词goal,故排除。
stick to doing sth是固定搭配,意为“坚持做某事”,此处to是介词,后接动名词,因此to doing符合用法。

I篇

Nowadays, the environmental problem has become a serious problem around us. Pollution is a serious problem in some places. Factory pollution spreads over cities and villages. Too many cars burn much oil and cause pollution. Worse still, many people waste plenty of energy like electricity and water. As students, we can take action to reduce pollution.
First, we can ride bikes or take buses to school instead of driving cars. Second, we’d better use cloth bags instead of plastic bags when shopping. Saving energy matters in daily life. Finally, we can join volunteer activities, like cleaning rivers and picking up rubbish in parks.
In short, the more we do for the environment, the greener our world will be. I hope everyone takes action to build a greener and more beautiful China.

Dear Tom,
I’m glad you’re interested in the news about Shenzhen Bay Park. To protect migratory birds, the park has taken thoughtful measures. The lights are dimmed at night to reduce stress on the birds, and warm yellow light is used instead of bright white light. After 11 pm, most lights near the mangrove area are turned off to give the birds a quiet place to rest.
These actions help the birds save energy for their long journey and keep their natural routine. It’s wonderful that our city is sharing our home with nature.
Best wishes,
Li Hua
