先圈画what、why、how、advantage、purpose等关键词,再回文定位。
What you need、Step1/2/3、Why it happens,这三处是命题黄金点。
it/they/this/that
2.因果推理看信号词:because/so/therefore/lead to。
说明文结尾常出现in short/clearly/actually等总结词,后面就是主旨句。

Do you know anything about smelly-but-tasty food in China? Have you tasted some of them before? Not everybody can accept these foods. However, for people who love them, they are like gifts from nature. Today, let’s see what’s on the “smelly food menu” in different places in China.
As a typical snack in Beijing food culture, dou zhi is famous for its special smell and its long history of over 300 years. In the old days, it was sold in Beijing’s streets and hutong, and both the poor and the rich loved it for its low price. It is made from mung beans (绿豆), which can make people less tired in summer. Usually, people have dou zhi with several snacks, such as pickles (腌菜) and fried rings.
Luosifen from Guangxi enjoys popularity across China. The traditional cooking method includes many kinds of materials. Preparing rice noodles, luosi soup and sour bamboo shoots (酸笋) is just the beginning. The stinky smell mainly comes from sour bamboo shoots. Other materials like fuzhu and peanuts also play an important part. Together, they create a perfect magic snack.
Invented around two hundred years ago, stinky mandarin fish is a famous Hui-style dish. The pickling of the fish is the key to the whole cooking. You should prepare a wood bucket (桶) and put some salt on the bottom. Cover the prepared fish with salt, and put them into the bucket. After several days, you can cook the fish with other vegetables.
These smelly foods may turn some people away by their smell, but if you give them a try, they can be a surprise on your plate.
1.Where does the stinky smell of luosifen mainly come from?
A.Luosi soup. B.Fuzhu and peanuts.
C.Sour bamboo shoots. D.Mung beans
2.Which is the right order of making stinky mandarin fish?
①Cover the fish with salt.
②Put the fish into the wood bucket.
③Cook the fish with other vegetables.
④Put some salt on the bottom of a wood bucket.
A.④②①③ B.③①④② C.④①②③ D.④①③②
3.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.Luosifen is a Hui-style dish.
B.Dou zhi can make people less tired.
C.Stinky mandarin fish has a longer history than dou zhi.
D.All Chinese people love eating these three smelly foods.

Bedtime comes every night, but what if you’re not feeling sleepy? Should you still head to bed even if you know you’ll just lie there with your eyes open? This problem has been around for as long as people have been trying to get a good night’s sleep.
In order to find the best solution for you, it’s necessary to find out what’s keeping you awake at night. You might be excited about something that happened during the day. Perhaps you’re nervous about what’s coming up the next day. Maybe you don’t like sleeping alone in your room. All of these could be reasons for your sleeping problems. However, there are several steps you can take to help you solve them.
One thing that can help is talking to a parent or another trusted adult about what you’re worrying about at bedtime. For example, if you’re nervous about taking a test, or upset about having too much stress, it can really help to tell somebody. Knowing that someone has listened to you can ease (宽慰) your mind, helping you to get a good rest.
Sleeping in a comfortable bed in a quiet and cool room is another good choice. If there’s anything in your room that makes you feel uneasy or anxious (焦虑的) at night, such as a picture that looks strange in the dark, or a noisy tap in the bathroom, be sure to ask your parents to move or fix it. Also, make sure to keep electronics like mobile phones or iPads away from your bed. They can keep you excited, and make it harder for you to fall asleep.
If you are usually restless around bedtime, doing certain things to relax beforehand (预先) may help you fall asleep. Try to take more time to wind down by taking a warm bath, or listening to music for at least 10 minutes before you go to sleep. It’s also helpful to follow a bedtime routine (惯例) and go to sleep at the same time every night. This way, your body will receive the message that it’s almost time to sleep. Your body will learn to start feeling tired, and it’s worth the time and effort to develop a good sleeping habit.
1.To get a good sleep, what does the writer advise you to do first?
A.To go to bed at a certain time every night.
B.To do something to make you tired in the day.
C.To stay away from electronics before going to bed.
D.To know the exact reason why you stay awake at night.
2.What is the main idea of paragraph 4?
A.Create a good sleep environment. B.Keep the room quiet and cool.
C.Make your bedroom comfortable. D.Stay away from electronics.
3.What does the underlined phrase “wind down” in Paragraph 5 probably mean?
A.Stay awake. B.Keep clean. C.Get relaxed. D.Feel sleepy.

Have you ever wondered why we say maidongxi (买东西) instead of mainanbei, shangcesuo (上厕所) instead of xiacesuo, and yijianxiangzuo (意见相左) instead of yijianxiangyou? Many Chinese words have directions in them, and there is lots of history and culture hidden behind.
East or West
When going shopping, Chinese people say maidongxi instead of mainanbei. A theory says that in the Tang Dynasty, there were two popular markets in Chang’an, the national capital at the time. One was called the East Market, and the other was called the West Market. When shopping, people usually went to the East Market first, and then went to the West Market. As time went by, people started to describe shopping as maidongxi.
Up or down
We use shangcesuo to mean “go to the bathroom” and xiachufang to mean “go to the kitchen”. Why? In ancient times, houses were laid out (布局) in a certain way. The gate of the house would face south, with the bathroom in the northeastern part of the house and the kitchen in the southeastern part. On maps, north is usually at the top while south is at the bottom. In Chinese, we talk about the north as shang and the south as xia. So people would say they’re going up to the bathroom-and down to the kitchen.
Ancient Chinese not only used shang and xia to refer to (指代) directions but also social positions. For example, people used huangshang to refer to the emperor and dianxia to refer to princes who had a lower position than the emperor.
Left or right
Most people today are right-handed. They feel uncomfortable if they try to use their left hand to write or use chopsticks. This was true in old times as well. So in ancient China, “left” was related to (与……有关联) being different, such as in yijianxiangzuo. If people don’t accept common beliefs (信念), we still say they are following ________.
When shaking hands, it’s important to know which hand to use. In most cultures, the right hand is generally used for a handshake. For example, in some countries, such as India and Nepal, the left hand is considered unclean. However, if you are in a culture where the left hand is used, you’d better do as the locals do.
“Left” and “right” also have something to do with people’s social position. For a long time in ancient China, “right” stood for higher position than “left”. For example, the character “佑”, developed from “右”, means a person in a higher position would protect someone in a lower position.

If you are sitting, please stand up. Move your legs. Touch your toes (脚趾), if you can. Do anything but sit. New research shows that if you cut down on the time you spend sitting, you might live longer. Sitting less than three hours a day might extend (延长) your life by two years.
Peter is a scientist at the University of Louisiana in the southern United States. “We sit while we’re eating; we sit in the car; we sit while we watch TV. Many of us sit for many hours at work.” But, he adds, “that does not make sitting good for us.” The human body is designed to move. But modern lifestyles and office jobs seldom give us the chance to move around.
You may exercise often. That does not mean you can sit for the rest of your waking hours. “We can’t throw away physical activity. It is very important. Even if you exercise for 30 minutes a day, what goes on in the other 23-and-a-half hours a day is also very important.”
Changes are already coming to some offices, especially in the design of desks. A “standing desk” lets people stand while they work. Another new design is called the “treadmill desk”. A treadmill is an exercise machine that lets you walk slowly in one place. Even some U.S. schools are beginning to use such desks to keep children moving.
Many companies may not buy a standing desk for everybody, but they’ll have a bank of these desks where people can go for an hour a day and answer their emails or talk on the phone. Peter and his team suggest some other simple changes: take walks at lunch time; walk to your partner’s offices and talk directly instead of emailing. All these activities may help you live longer.
1.How does Peter feel about sitting?
A.It is helpful to our work. B.It’s a good way to relax ourselves.
C.It is not good for us. D.It is an important part of our life.
2.How does the writer introduce the changes in the last two paragraphs?
A.By setting a situation. B.By listing numbers.
C.By telling stories. D.By giving examples.
3.What’s the best title for this passage?
A.Sit Less, Live Longer B.Change More, Achieve More
C.Take Exercise, Keep Strong D.Talk Directly, Improve Friendship

“Reduce, reuse, recycle,” these are the three Rs that environmental activists (环保活动家) have stressed. But how can we realize them? Recently, this idea came to life in China in a clever way in a famous scenic spot in Dunhuang, Northwest China’s Gansu Province.
With the arrival of the tourist season, the scenic spot has been crowded with around 20,000 visitors a day since July. With so many people, the challenge of managing waste has become more serious, putting cleaners under pressure. So, the scenic spot came up with a fun way to help: “Trash hunt for gifts.” Here’s how it works: Visitors are given trash bags and encouraged to pick up litter around the site. In return, they get small gifts showing Dunhuang’s rich culture.
Isn’t this another good form of the three Rs spirit? I still remember going to some scenic spots, especially historical sites where people gather in a small area. At these places littering is something we always have to try hard to deal with. Not only does it influence the cleanliness of a site, but it is also likely to harm the natural environment. So, when I saw how the “Trash hunt for gifts” program was carried out, it was clear this way was more than just a trick to attract attention. It was truly an effort to encourage a culture of responsibility and care. The activity does more than just clean up the area. It turns every visitor into an environmental guard, actively taking part in protecting the beauty of the site.
________ Other places in China are also doing similar things. It’s great to see that tourists are not just enjoying the sights, but also helping to protect them. Turning tourists into environmental guards is a new and exciting way to keep our scenic spots clean and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. It’s a reminder that while we enjoy the beauty around us, we also have the power to protect it.
1.How do visitors take part in “Trash hunt for gifts”?
A.By buying trash bags. B.By picking up trash.
C.By giving out gifts. D.By spreading Dunhuang culture.
2.Which of the following can be put in ________?
A.The idea is spreading. B.People love the gifts.
C.Dunhuang becomes more attractive. D.Visitors become more active.
3.What’s the purpose of the passage?
A.To explain what the three Rs are.
B.To show how to face challenges during the trip.
C.To introduce a new way of travelling.
D.To encourage people to be protectors of nature.

The 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala had a hugely popular program called “Wu BOT”. In the show, humanoid robots performed traditional Chinese kung fu alongside young artists, making it one of the most talked-about performances of this year’s gala.
The robots are designed and produced by Unitree (宇树) Technology, a leading Chinese robotics company. These Unitree G1 robots perform difficult movements, including drunken boxing, nunchaku (双节棍) and parkour (跑酷). They work together on stage with students from Tagou Martial Arts School, one of China’s best-known traditional kung fu schools. With high-level control, the robots move smoothly and work naturally with human performers.
The performance shows clear progress in just one year. In the 2025 gala, they could only perform simple group dances, but they were not able to do difficult kung fu moves. This year, however, they completed difficult kung fu movements easily. This change shows the rapid development of robot motion control and teamwork skills.
“Wu BOT” is more than just an entertaining stage act. It mixes traditional Chinese culture and modern technology in a creative way, helping young students understand kung fu in a new way. It also shows the public the latest developments in China’s humanoid robots. In the future, such technologies may be widely used in fields like education, public services and daily life.

Have you wondered what it would be like to live in space? The following will explain astronauts’ daily life to you.
Eating in space
Imagine going camping for more than a week with some friends. You would make sure you have plenty of foods and store them properly. At the end of your camping trip, you would deal with your rubbish properly before the ride home.
Astronauts almost do the same thing when they go to space. Preparation varies with the food type. Some foods can be eaten in their natural forms, such as chocolate cakes and fruits. Other foods require adding water, such as cheese. Of course, an oven is provided at the space station to heat the food. But there are no fridges, so space food must be stored properly.
Sleeping in space
After a long day at work, nothing is better than a good night’s sleep! Just like on the earth, in space astronauts go to bed at a certain time, then get up and prepare for work again. When going to sleep, they have to attach themselves, so they don’t float around or hit their bodies against something. They usually use sleeping bags located in small crew cabins (乘员舱). Each crew cabin is just big enough for one person. Generally, astronauts have an eight-hour sleep each day when they finish their task.
Doing sports in space
Exercise is an important part of every astronaut’s daily life to prevent muscle loss On average, astronauts exercise two hours every day. Lifting 200 pounds on the earth may be a lot of work. But lifting that same object in space would be much easier. That means exercise equipment needs to be specially designed, so astronauts can receive the exercise needed.
Living in space is not just all work and no play. Astronauts have fun, too. They like to look out the window and play with their food. Fun plays an important role in the quality of their life.
1.The author starts to explain eating in space by ______.
A.telling a story B.asking a question
C.giving an example D.comparing two facts
2.It can be learned from paragraph 3 that ______.
A.astronauts use fridges to store foods B.astronauts don’t add water to cheese
C.astronauts never use ovens to heat food D.astronauts can eat cakes in their natural form
3.What does the underlined word “attach” mean?
A.Tie. B.Hide. C.Catch. D.Carry.

When I was young, I lived in Scotland with my parents. I had a good time there.
One morning, I ran to the garden, and said to the old Scotsman who worked there, “Today I am going up the mountain for berries (莓).”
“No, no, Missy, not today,” he said. “It will rain.”
“No. It will not rain,” I said. “The sun is up. The cook says it will be fine. The glass in the hall does not say rain.”
“Tuts, tuts,” said the old man. “I care for no suns, or cooks, or glasses. The pimpernel (报春花) says it will rain, and so it will rain.Flowers, Missy, always tell the truth. When they say rain, go and get your umbrella.”
Sure enough, by noon the rain was pouring down. After that, I looked with great respect at the tiny flower, sometimes brick red, sometimes blue, which could tell about the weather. But the pimpernel is not the only plant that is a weather prophet.
If you go into the garden, and find the African marigolds (万寿菊) shut after seven o’ clock in the morning, you may be pretty sure that there will be a rainy day. There is a little single marigold which shuts up in a hurry if the sky becomes cloudy. It is called the“rainy-marigold”.
Most plants which we call “weather prophets” shut up for rain. But some plants open for rain. The cause of the opening and closing is probably the difference in light. Most likely these plants shut their flowers because there is too little light.
But you know there are some plants which become smaller in a strong light and love the shade. You will find that most shade-loving plants, such as the verbenas (马鞭草), do not close for rain.
Lilies (百合花), tulips (郁金香) and other flowers that love the sun shut for rain. Tulips are careful not to open their cups very wide in the morning if it is likely to rain. The roses make no change. They seem not to fear wet.
On the whole, you may be pretty sure, if you go into your garden, and find many flowers—such as tulips, marigolds and morning glories—shut, it will be a stormy day, unfit for picnics or long walks.
1.How did the old Scotsman know it would be rainy that day?
A.By watching the sun. B.By listening to the weather report.
C.By watching the pimpernel. D.The cook told him.
2.The plants which are“weather prophets” ________.
A.become smaller in a strong light B.tell about the weather
C.open for rain and fear light D.love shade and wet
3.What do we know from the passage?
A.The flowers have four ways to help people to get information about weather.
B.The glass in the hall has magic for the writer's family to know about weather.
C.We can know about weather by keeping many roses at home or in the garden.
D.Maybe Missy will know about weather by watching flowers from now on.
4.The passage is mainly about ________.
A.watching flowers carefully before going out
B.learning to watch flowers from the old Scotsman
C.the importance of growing flowers in the garden
D.the relationship between some flowers and weather

Have you ever looked at a cat’s face and wondered what it is thinking? A team of scientists from the University of California might have some answers. In a fascinating new study, researchers discovered that cats use 276 different facial (面部) expressions to show their feelings—far more than we have ever imagined!
The scientists visited a local cat cafe in Los Angeles for over several months to observe (观察) 53 cats. They recorded 194 minutes of videos, carefully watching how the cats communicate with each other. Using a special system called FACS (Facial Action Coding System), which is normally used to study human expressions, they identified 26 unique facial movements in cats. These movements—like licking (舔) their nose, opening their mouth, or widening their pupils (the black part of their eyes)—combine in different ways to create all those expressions. They also found cats use 26 of these facial movements in total, which can be mixed to express how they are feeling. Dogs use 27 facial movements and humans use a total of 44.
Out of the expressions they recorded, 45% were friendly and 37% were angry. “A friendly cat moves its ears and whiskers forward while closing its eyes slowly—almost like a smile! However, an angry cat often flattens its ears to its head, makes its pupils smaller and licks its lips,” said the team.
Although the researchers aren’t sure what the cats were trying to communicate with each other using their faces, they plan to study cats in other places to improve their understanding. They also hope that the research could help animal shelters (收容所) improve the way they look after the cats. Some pet owners even suggest the researchers develop an app that scans a cat’s face to explain its mood—like a “cat translator”.
Next time your cat stares at you, pay attention—it might be “talking” with its face!

C.Build an animal shelter to look after cats.
D.Use an app to study cats’ expressions.
4.What would be the best structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.

We do eye exercises. We wear sunglasses. We do lots of things to protect our eyes. But we usually forget another important part of our body—the ears. Ears help us hear the world. But many things, such as loud noises, can hurt our ears, even make us deaf. Once this happens, it’s hard to get your hearing back. March 3rd is Ear Care Day. So how can we protect our ears? Let’s take a look together.
Keep your ears dry and warm
Dry your ears with a towel after swimming or taking a shower. If you feel water in your ear, shake your head a little bit. This can help you get the water out of your ear. Also, when the sun is shining, wear some sunscreen (防晒霜) on your ears. During the cold winter, protect your ears with a hat or a scarf.
▲
Usually, our ears clean themselves. The earwax (耳垢) builds up, dries out, and then comes out of the ear along with some dirt. Don’t clean your ears with anything sharp (尖锐的), or it may make the earwax go too deep into your ears and hurt them. But if your ears start to hurt, you can go to a doctor for help.
How to use earphones
Don’t listen to loud music on your earphones for a long time. Follow the “60 Rule”: listen to music for no more than 60 minutes a day. Over-ear (头戴式) earphones are better than in-ear ones. It will do a better job of stopping outside noise. So you can listen at a lower volume.
1.Which of the following ways is bad for your ears?
A.Wearing a hat or a scarf in winter.
B.Using sunscreen on your ears in summer.
C.Using a towel to dry your ears after swimming.
D.Shaking your head a lot when water’s in the ear.
2.Which of the following can be put in ▲ ?
A.Don’t hurt your ears B.How to clean your ears
C.Pay attention to earwax D.How our earwax is formed
3.What does the underlined word “It” refer to in the last paragraph?
A.Following the “60 Rule”. B.Listening to loud music.
C.Wearing in-ear earphones. D.Wearing over-ear earphones.
4.In which part of a newspaper can you probably read the passage?
A.Health. B.Travel. C.Stories. D.Music.

Glaciers (冰川) hold about 70% of the earth’s fresh water. They are large pieces of closely packed (压得紧) ice and snow. Glaciers only form in places where it is very cold. Every year, new snow falls on top of the old snow. The layers (层) of snow press down on each other, and then the snow crystals (晶体) start to change. They get smaller, and air pockets are pushed out of the snow. This allows the crystals to grow longer. Over time, the snow layer at the bottom of all the other snow layers becomes ice. The whole process of making a glacier takes about 100 years.
Some ice is packed so closely that it looks like it is blue. The snow on top of a glacier looks white because it reflects (反射) all of the light. But the ice layers of the glacier do not have many air pockets. They absorb different parts of light and reflect blue light.
Some of the glaciers on the earth may be very old. Scientists think that a few glaciers have ice that is about 8 million years old. Not all of the glaciers are that old, though. A number of glaciers in Alaska (阿拉斯加) are only about 100 years old.
There are different kinds of glaciers. An ice stream is a kind of glacier that forms on another glacier, and it looks like a frozen river. Rock glaciers are made when ice, rock, and other objects get mixed together.
.Which is the correct process (过程) of forming a glacier?
①New snow falls on top of the old snow.
②The snow crystals grow longer.
③Air pockets are pushed out of the snow.
④The layers of snow press down on each other.
⑤The snow layer at the bottom becomes ice.
A.⑤①②④③ B.①④③②⑤ C.①④②③⑤ D.⑤④②①③
2.The underlined word “absorb” in Paragraph 2 probably means “________”.
A.cut down B.give out C.make up D.take in
3.Why does the writer talk about Alaska’s glaciers?
A.Because the writer explains not all of the glaciers are very old.
B.Because the writer thinks they are the oldest glaciers on the earth.
C.Because the writer explains the rocks in them are valuable.
D.Because the writer thinks all of the glaciers are very old.
4.How does the writer support his idea in the last paragraph?
A.By giving examples. B.By showing numbers.
C.By giving opinions. D.By telling stories.

The old lanes (巷子) of the Beijing hutong were there hundreds of years ago during the Ming and Qing dynasties. They kept not only the traditional culture, but also the way of life in the past. People can go shopping, eat delicious food and watch the street life by visiting the Beijing hutongs. What’s more, it is a good way to learn more about the daily life of people in Beijing. A hutong is a lane formed by traditional courtyard compounds on both sides. The compounds are called siheyuan, meaning “four joined-together courtyard”. The hutongs have interesting names, which tell their origin, location or history. They are in these gray lanes where kids talk and play.
One of China’s most famous writers, Lao She, was born in a siheyuan in the west of the city. The memories of his childhood in hutongs were so important to him that even after he had been away from Beijing for more than 20 years, he still clearly remembered them and wrote them into a novel called Four Generations Under One Roof.
Now, Beijing still has about 400,000 siheyuan for people to live in. However, most hutongs are in great danger because more and more new buildings have been built. So, we should try our best to protect hutongs, the treasure of traditional culture.
In order to protect hutongs, we need to take action. Firstly, we should call on people to pay attention to the importance of protecting hutongs. Besides, the government should also put forward methods to protect hutongs from being influenced by other new buildings. Finally, we can encourage tourism in hutongs to spread their local culture as well. Let’s work together to protect hutongs and pass on our traditional culture to future generations.
1.What can people do in the Beijing hutongs?
①Go shopping. ②Eat delicious food. ③Watch the street life. ④Watch movies.
A.①②③ B.②③④ C.①②④ D.①③④
2.How many siheyuan are there in Beijing for people to live in now?
A.About 20,000. B.About 200,000. C.About 400,000. D.About 4,000,000.
3.Why should we encourage tourism in hutongs?
A.To spread local culture. B.To make more money.
C.To visit new buildings. D.To learn about hutongs.
4.In which part of a magazine can we read the passage?
A.Sports. B.Science. C.Culture. D. Health.

According to railway officials, since September 30,2025, paper tickets have no longer been used. They are completely discontinued (终止) and replaced (取代) by electronic tickets that you can get online. Many people have been sharing photos of their old paper tickets on social media in memory of the past.
Starting from November 1, 2019, China’s railway system began using fully digital e—tickets. This means passengers no longer have to go to ticket windows or machines to get paper tickets for reimbursement (报销), so that they can get back the money they spent. Instead, they could get e—tickets online whenever they needed them.
To make sure everyone could get used to this change, a grace (宽限期) period was provided. This grace period lasted until September 30, 2025. During this time, paper tickets remained available (可获得的) for those who needed them.
China Railway’s 12306 service confirmed that after September 30, passengers would not be able to get paper tickets any longer. A customer service agent (客服) said, “After that, all stations stopped offering them. Everything became electronic, and we have not received any news about further changes.”
China’s move toward paperless train travel actually started back in 2018. In November of that year, electronic tickets were first tested on the Hainan Roundabout Railway. The trial (测试) expanded (扩大) in July the following year to 13 stations on the Chengdu-Chongqing high-speed railway. By June 2020, e-tickets had been used all across China on all normal-speed (标准速度) railways. From that time on, passengers could travel using just their ID cards. It was at this point that paper tickets began to be stamped (盖章) with “For Reimbursement Only”. ________
Some people were worried that older passengers might find it difficult to get used to the change. Even though paper tickets were being phased out (逐步淘汰), passengers could still print a travel itinerary (行程信息单) at self—service machines, which included all important information like departure (启程) time, station names, seat number, and gate number. This made sure that all passengers could easily check their journey details.
1.Which of the following sentences about paper tickets is TRUE?
A.Paper tickets are no longer offered to passengers now.
B.Paper tickets are still used in some major stations now.
C.People can choose either paper tickets or e-tickets now.
D.During the grace period, nobody could get paper tickets.
2.Which of the following sentences can best fill in ________ in the passage?
A.However, many people preferred the old way.
B.So no passengers had to keep them carefully.
C.That means they were not needed to get on the train.
D.That’s why all the paper tickets were no longer used.
3.What does the writer probably think of the change to e-tickets?
A.It causes trouble for old people. B.It should be stopped at once.
C.It is a necessary and helpful step. D.It is useless for most passengers.
4.What is the passage mainly about?
A.The history of train tickets in China.
B.The ways to get reimbursement for train tickets.
C.The full use of e-tickets in China’s railway system.
D.The reasons why paper tickets are better than e-tickets.

①Once, humanoid robots (仿人机器人) that act like people were only in sci-fi movies and our childhood dreams. But now, thanks to the hard work of engineers around the world, these robots are stepping out of stories and into real life. Let’s learn the interesting secrets of humanoid robots from engineers.
②Teaching robots to move smoothly is an important part of developing humanoid robots. First, engineers make detailed plans for the robots’ movements. They also write computer code to guide them to learn actions. Then, engineers test the robots’ movements in a computer-simulated (计算机模拟的) fake world. Only when the fake test goes well will they let the robots try in the real world. During this process, engineers repeat this whole process many times until the robots can move just as we want them to.
③Keeping balance is key for humanoid robots to act like humans. Engineers have a special training method: they let robots practice different actions again and again in a virtual world. They also set up a “reward and punishment system”—if a robot does well, it gets points as a reward; if it makes a mistake, like falling down, points are taken away. After a long time of training, robots slowly learn skills to keep balance and finally stand steadily without falling easily.
④Many people wonder how smart humanoid robots are. They have some advantages over humans: they can easily remember lots of information and learn languages fast, even smarter than college students in these areas. But simple things like holding a cup—easy for humans—are hard for robots. Engineers must teach them repeatedly. So robots aren’t as skilled as 1 or 2-year-olds and aren’t good at interacting with the real world.
⑤In the future, robots may work in dangerous places like space or disaster areas. They can also help in service jobs where there aren’t enough workers. But this will take a long time. In the next 1-2 years, robots might give people emotional support or join sports and shows. They’ll change from being fun to being helpful.
⑥Some people worry: if we give robots “thinking abilities”, will they become lazy or work hard? Engineers answer that it depends on how people train them. Take robot walking as an example. If people teach a robot to move slowly, it may walk lazily. But if people teach it to move quickly, it will become active and walk fast. That is to say, how robots learn and behave is totally influenced by how people teach them.
⑦From the “robot friends” in fantasy to the growing humanoid robots in reality, every step of progress depends on engineers’ exploration. In the future, with more technical breakthroughs, we believe humanoid robots will bring more surprises to our lives.
1.Why do engineers first test robots’ movements in a computer-simulated world?
A.Because the real world is too dangerous for robots.
B.To avoid possible mistakes and risks when testing in reality.
C.Because the computer-simulated world is more convenient for training.
D.To make robots remember more movement information quickly.
2.What can we know about the “reward and punishment system” for robots?
A.It helps robots learn balance skills more efficiently.
B.It makes robots afraid of making mistakes.
C.It is only used when robots practice walking.
D.It gives robots physical rewards for good performance.
3.Which structure is right for this passage?
A. B.
C. D.
4.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.To explain why humanoid robots were only in sci-fi movies before.
B.To warn people about the risks of giving robots “thinking abilities”.
C.To introduce the development, current situation and future of humanoid robots.
D.To discuss the advantages and disadvantages of humanoid robots compared with humans.

Have you ever wondered why we say maidongxi (卖东西) instead of mainanbei, shangcesuo (上厕所) instead of xiacesuo, and yijianxiangzuo (意见相左) instead of yijianxiangyou? Many Chinese words have directions in them, and there is lots of history and culture hidden behind them.
So people would say they’re going up to the bathroom and down to the kitchen.
Ancient Chinese not only used shang and xia to refer to (指代) directions but also social positions. For example, people used huangshang to refer to the emperor and dianxia to refer to princes who had a lower position than the emperor.
For a long time in ancient China, “right” stood for a higher position than “left”. For example, the character “佑”, developed from “右”, means a person in a higher position would protect someone in a lower position.

“It is especially beautiful. No matter who you are or what your age is, seeing something so fantastic is truly attractive,” said Jin Huilin, who was attracted by the rich patterns (花纹) when he saw Yuhua stones for the first time.
Nanjing Yuhua stone is a type of water-worn stone mainly found in areas like Nanjing and Yizheng in Jiangsu Province. It is known for its smooth texture (质地), bright colours and rich patterns.
Because Yuhua stones are often got from mines (矿山) , dry Yuhua stones look plain and grey, hiding their true quality. Jin and his friends visited Luhe mining sites in Nanjing, wearing rubber shoes to collect these stones on rainy days. Rain made the stones’ detailed patterns clearer. “It’s better to carry a bottle of water on dry days to pour on the surface of the stones. Sometimes you can find something surprising. “Jin said.
According to Jin, appreciating (欣赏) stones starts with their outer qualities like texture, colour, and patterns. ①However, “real appreciation of the stones requires cultural knowledge; otherwise, they might seem like just pieces of colour,” said Jin. With cultural knowledge and imagination, people could see different patterns, such as trees, mountains, or flowers. “②The stones a person chooses as their favourites can show their cultural awareness,” Jin added.
Watching patterns of stones in the water is not the only way to appreciate stones. Jin also mentioned other ways. ③He gave some examples. “Some people enjoy holding stones in their hands, appreciating their special textures, or using strong light to discover hidden patterns that are even more beautiful. Others choose to put the stones on the desk, inviting guests to appreciate the stones from different positions,” said Jin. ④
For Jin, stone watching brings joy and something fresh to his life. “Some people like to have lively pets while I prefer stones for their lasting nature.” Jin added.
1.The writer begins this article by ________.
A.explaining an idea B.showing the reasons
C.comparing differences D.telling someone’s opinion
2.Jin suggests carrying a bottle of water when collecting stones on dry days because ________.
A.water can bring people good luck B.stones can avoid being polluted with water
C.water can help find the stones’ true quality D.the weather makes people feel thirsty easily
3.The sentence “So, watching stones is, in some ways, watching oneself.” most probably comes from ________.
A.① B.② C.③ D.④
4.What can we know about Yuhua stones from the passage?
A.Their true quality can be found easily on the surface.
B.They can be found in most cities in Jiangsu Province.
C.There are different patterns like mountains and flowers in them.
D.The textures are seen more clearly in the water than with strong light.

To save endangered arctic wolves, the Beijing-based Sinogene Biotechnology Company cooperated with Harbin Polarland on cloning (克隆) the arctic wolf. As a result, after two years of hard work, the arctic wolf was cloned successfully. It is the first case of its kind in the world.
Born on June 10, 2022, the wolf, named Maya, is energetic and in very good health. Her donor (供体) cell came from a wild female arctic wolf from Canada. However, her oocyte (卵母细胞) was from a female dog, and her surrogate mother (代孕母体) was a beagle. The scientist chose a dog as Maya’s surrogate because they are similar in genes (基因), and it’s easier to succeed through cloning technology.
“This is our new try and it has been a development in protecting and producing wild and endangered animals. The birth of Maya is an important thing for the development of cloning technology and is of great value to biodiversity (生物多样性), the protection of wildlife, and the restoration (恢复) of endangered animals in the world,” Mi Jidong, the company’s general manager, said.
Cloning technology is a breeding method different from natural reproduction. Some gave opinions about the cloned arctic wolf. Sun Quanhui, a scientist from the World Animal Protection, said that cloning technology is still in the exploratory stage of research, and there are many technical and ethical (伦理) problems that need to be treated properly. Sun believed cloning should be used only for endangered wild animals whose species are dying out or whose Maya first lived with her surrogate mother in a lab, and later she was sent to the Harbin Polarland and displayed to the public. Maya had to live by herself in the park at first because she may not be able to fit in with original arctic wolf groups. However, it is reported that the technology of cloning arctic wolves has gained strong value in its application.
1.Which of the following is TRUE about Maya according to the passage?
A.She was born in Canada. B.She was in good condition.
C.She is the first cloned animal in China. D.She shares similar living habits with dogs.
2.What is the third paragraph mainly about?
A.The history of cloning technology.
B.The difficulties of keeping biodiversity.
C.Scientists’ work to protect endangered animals.
D.The importance of the birth of the cloned arctic wolf.
3.What is Sun Quanhui’s idea towards cloning technology?
A.Careful. B.Confident. C.Surprised. D.Unsuitable.
4.What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A.Maya was trained to live with wolf groups in the lab.
B.A male cloned arctic wolf may come into the world one day.
C.Maya is popular with many visitors to the Harbin Polarland.
D.Cloning technology will be used in the protection of animals.

The 2026 Spring Festival Gala of China Media Group (CMG) has chosen “Qiji Chicheng, Shi Bu Ke Dang” as its theme for the Year of the Horse. “Qiji (骐骥)”, a beautiful name for fine horses in ancient China, comes from old Chinese poems. It stands for the Chinese nation’s spirit of moving forward bravely and never stopping. Also, “Qiji” sounds the same as “miracle” in Chinese, showing people’s wish to create miracles and go forward with confidence.
The logo of the 2026 Gala was designed by Gu Yongjiang, who has designed the Gala’s main logo for four years in a row. His design ideas always center on traditional Chinese culture and aesthetics (美学). When designing for “Qiji Chicheng”, the team found that concrete (具象的) horse images from different dynasties, like Han or Tang horses, couldn’t represent horses in a broad sense—everyone has their own idea of a perfect horse. So they turned to Chinese characters themselves. Chinese characters are beautiful because they have both concrete and abstract (抽象的) sides.
The design team combined Chinese characters with traditional patterns such as cloud patterns, thunder patterns and spiral patterns (回纹). The logo not only shows the beauty of traditional Chinese art but also the energetic spirit of modern times. It creates a lively scene of thousands of horses running wild, and forms an endless cycle structure. As Gu Yongjiang said, the logo has a sense of freedom and power, like horses running wildly in the sky, and it also carries the unbreakable spirit of the Great Wall and the unstoppable momentum (气势) of a powerful army. The team also created new lucky phrases to match the logo, making a new kind of lucky culture for the festival.
As the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan, the 2026 Spring Festival Gala will welcome the Year of the Horse with Chinese people all over the world, bringing a warm and new feast (盛宴).
1.The theme “Qiji Chicheng” implies (暗示) ________.
A.a concrete image of a Tang horse B.a wish for miracles and progress
C.the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan D.a quiet and peaceful life
2.Why did the team choose Chinese characters instead of concrete horse images?
A.Characters are easier to draw. B.Ancient horse images are too scary.
C.Characters fit modern aesthetics better. D.Concrete images limit people's imagination.
3.Which pattern is NOT used in the 2026 Spring Festival Gala logo according to the passage?
A. B.
C. D.
4.Which of the following best explains the design logic (设计逻辑) of the logo?
A.Concrete Horse Image→Modern Painting
B.Chinese Character→Traditional Pattern→Modern Spirit
C.Ancient Poem→Han Dynasty Art→Simple Shape
D.Lucky Phrase→Spiral Pattern→Broken Structure

Green is the color of nature and the symbol of life. For thousands of years, humans have followed the laws of nature to live in harmony (和谐) with nature.
That has been seen in ancient Chinese houses. Ancient Chinese often built their homes at the foot of the mountain with a river running nearby. The mountains could stop the cold wind from the north and the river provided water for life. Most houses were also built facing south or west so that the rooms were able to get enough sunshine in winter and keep cool in summer.
In modern times, humans sometimes don’t follow the laws of nature with the fast development. Luckily, it’s never too late to make changes.
Green development is the goal of all countries. On April 22, 2016, China signed the Paris Agreement on climate change, giving a strong push to the international efforts against global (全球的) warming.
Also in China, the government added green development to the country’s work plans. From 1999 to the end of 2018, by carrying out Mother River Protection Operation, China raised 600 million yuan to build over 5,700 green projects. Through international cooperation, over 98.32 million trees were planted across China.
Denmark is a leading country in wind and solar technologies. Denmark has started the “Power-to-X” plan, providing about 1.25 billion kroner for projects producing hydrogen (氢气).
Builders across the world are also playing a role in green development. In Chicago, pressed newspaper, recycled glass and plastic are used on buildings. In Bali, the green school is made from bamboo. The school gets its electricity (电) from solar panels (太阳能电池板), waterpower and a generator that burns farm waste.
Following the laws of nature is the only way out. A small move in one country may influence the global community as a whole. Let’s join our hands to make the world a better place for now and the future.
1.What do we know about the ancient Chinese houses?
A.They were built in the mountains. B.They were built far from rivers.
C.They were built facing south or west. D.They were built to get enough wind.

C.Green development is just protecting nature. D.The future of humans depends on technology.
4.What is the best title for the passage?
A.Green Development: Following the Laws of Nature
B.Ancient Chinese Houses and Green Life
C.Global Efforts Against Global Warming

Do you choose to watch a happy movie or a sad movie when feeling sad or down? I advise you not to watch a happy movie. A sad movie may be right for you.
Scientists at Ohio State University, the US, have found that sad movies can make people happier. They published their study in a magazine called Communication Research.
Scientists asked some college students to watch a sad movie called Atonement. The movie tells a story of two lovers who were separated. They died during World War Ⅱ at the end of the movie. The college students answered questions from the scientists before, after and three times during the movie because the scientists wanted to know about the students’ different feelings, including the feeling of sadness.
The result showed that people felt better after watching the sad movie. Scientists believed that it was because the movie made the students think about their own lives. Compared (对比) with those unlucky lovers in the movie, they thought their life was full of hope.
“I want to live my life to the fullest, and this movie has made me think a lot,” one student said.
Silvia Knobloch—Westerwick, the leader of the study, explained that bad feelings would make people more thoughtful. “Good feelings are generally a sign that everything is fine. You don’t have to worry, and you don’t have to think about problems in your life,” she said. “But bad feelings, like sadness, make you feel terrible about your situation. So seeing a sad movie may make you feel bad at first, but that will cause you to think more about your own life and then you will value it more and finally feel much happier.”

Have you ever lost yourself in doing something so that you forget the time? Everything around you—from the ringing of phones to the people passing by—seemed to be away.
Most of us have had this experience at one time or another. This special state (状态) of mind is called “flow”. When it happens, we completely pay attention to what we are doing. We feel energetic, even excited about what we are doing. For example, when you are drawing, you might forget to eat dinner because you lose yourself in it. ①
The idea of flow was introduced and first studied by psychologist (心理学家) Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. According to his discovery, whether flow happens depends on the difficulty of the challenge and our skill levels. For example, if the task is not very challenging and doesn’t require a lot of skills, we probably feel bored towards it. But facing a challenging task without the required skills could easily cause worry. He finally drew the conclusion that when the challenge is difficult and we believe we have enough skills, flow happens. ②
What advantages does flow bring? During flow, people can work faster and better. For example, artists said that they could produce more works easily “without putting in much effort” in the flow state. Flow can also make people more curious and creative because they have to look for new challenges and information to keep the state. ③
Flow often happens during creative activities and sports activities. But flow states aren’t just something experienced by artists, writers or sports persons. Flow can happen anytime a person is deeply lost in a task, including during learning activities. Many people want to achieve flow more often in their daily lives. While doing a task, having clear plans, adding something challenging and giving and receiving feedback (反馈) in time can help achieve flow. It’s more difficult to achieve flow if people’s attention is distracted (分散), so it’s necessary that smart phones, TV and other distractions get turned off. ④
1.When people are in flow, they CAN’T ________.
A.forget the time B.hear the ringing of phones
C.give full attention to their tasks D.feel excited about what they do
2.Where can the sentence “With flow, people have greater levels of happiness and satisfaction in their activities.” be put in the passage?
A.① B.② C.③ D.④
3.Who can most probably achieve flow according to the passage?
A.A runner who wants to win the first prize in an important race.
B.An artist who is drawing an apple for his 10-year-old daughter
C.A chess player who doesn’t know what to do before competitions.
D.A student who is taking an exam when having a headache.
4.What is the passage mainly about?
A.The early study on flow. B.The advantages of flow.
C.The requirements for flow. D.The introduction to flow.

The strangeness of life in space never quite goes away. Here are some examples.
First, consider something as simple as sleep. Its position presents its own challenges. The main question is whether you want your arms inside or outside the sleeping bag. If you leave your arms out, they float free in zero gravity, often giving a sleeping astronaut the look of a funny ballet dancer. “I’m an inside guy,” Mike Hopkins says, who returned from a six-month tour on the International Space Station. “I like to be wrapped up.”
On the station, the common thing becomes strange. The exercise bike for the American astronauts has no handlebars (车把). It also has no seat. In zero gravity, it’s just easy to ride violently (猛烈地). You can watch a film while you ride by floating a microcomputer anywhere you want. But astronauts have to be careful about staying in one place too long. Without gravity to help circulate (循环) air, the carbon dioxide you breathe in has a tendency to form an invisible (隐形的) cloud around your head. You can end up with what astronauts call a carbon-dioxide headache.
Leroy Chiao, 54, an American retired astronaut after four flights, describes what happens even before you float out of your seat, “Your inner ear thinks you’re falling. Meanwhile your eyes are telling you you’re standing straight. That can be annoying—that’s why some people feel sick.” Within a couple of days—truly terrible days for some—astronauts’ brains learn to ignore (忽略) the panicky signals from the inner ear, and space sickness disappears.
Space travel can be so pleasing but at the same time invisibly dangerous. For example, astronauts lose bone mass. That’s why exercise is considered so important that National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) puts it right on the workday schedule (日程). The focus on fitness is as much about science and the future as it is about keeping any individual astronaut healthy. NASA is worried about two things: recovery time once astronauts return home, and, more importantly, how to maintain (保持) strength and fitness for the two and a half years or more that it would take to make a round-trip to Mars.
1.Which of the following should astronauts consider while sleeping in space?
A.The temperature around them. B.The size and shape of a sleeping bag.
C.The choice of a suitable sleep position. D.The place where the sleeping bag should be put.
2.What can we do in zero gravity?
A.We can dance with our partner easily.
B.It is hard to ride the exercise bikes.
C.We should stay in the same place for long.
D.We can watch a film while we ride.
3.Why does gravity help to prevent us from getting a carbon-dioxide headache?
A.Because gravity makes an invisible cloud.
B.Because gravity helps circulate air.
C.Because gravity forms the carbon dioxide.
D.Because gravity can cure the illness.
4.What is NASA’s main concern (担忧) about the astronauts?
A.How much money they would be paid on the station.
B.How they can keep healthy for long in space.
C.If they are strong enough to return home.
D.In what ways they exercise in space.
5.What does the writer think of the life in space?
A.Strange. B.Funny. C.Peaceful. D.Healthy.

DeepSeek quietly started an AI “wave”. It has quickly become the real leader in open-source AI during the AI revolution. The company has shown good results. Its results are as good as, or even better than, those of its competitors. And it can do this with much less cost, while also having great speed, efficiency, and performance.
So, what can we learn from DeepSeek’s success? Deep Seek shows some very important things. First, AI isn’t just something from the US. AI is a kind of artificial intelligence that everyone should work on together. Second, one country shouldn’t keep AI for itself or use it to be more powerful than others. Third, open-source development is a better way for AI to grow. This way, everyone can get more good things from AI. Fourth, if AI doesn’t cost too much, more people can use it and it can last longer. This is a better way for AI to develop. Finally, AI should pay more attention to making new algorithms (算法) and to how people and AI can work together in creative ways.
Most of the experts working at Deep Seek were educated and trained in China. They don’t have any experience studying or working abroad. This will encourage tens of millions of Chinese professionals who were also educated and trained in China. They will be encouraged to take on different chances and difficulties in the AI revolution.
The best way to move the AI revolution forward is to develop AI for everyone, not just for one person’s gain. AI should be something that benefits all people. It can make all of us work better and be more productive and bring more happiness.
DeepSeek’s great success shows that countries need to work together on AI. AI fights between big countries are dangerous. If we don’t control AI, it might get too powerful and humans could lose. So, China, the US, and other countries must work together. They should make AI better but also make sure it doesn’t get out of our control.

Millions of people open fitness apps (健身应用程序) each day to stay motivated (有动力的) and reach their health goals (目标).But a new study suggests these apps might have the opposite effect.
Researchers studied nearly 14,000 negative posts on a social platform about the five most popular fitness apps. Instead of feeling motivated, many users said they felt confused, angry, or even ashamed because of how the apps set and tracked their goals. What was meant to help people live healthier lives often left them feeling bad about themselves.
The researchers explained their findings using “self-determination theory (自我决定理论)”, which says motivation depends on three things: autonomy(feeling in control), competence(feeling able to do something), and relatedness(feeling connected to other people). Fitness apps, they found, often weaken all three.
Many apps reduce autonomy by setting automatic (自动的) goals, such as calorie limits or weight-loss plans, without asking what feels right for users. Some people said the apps told them to eat far too little, while others noticed that goals didn’t change for personal situations such as doing more exercise.
Problems with the apps also hurt people’s sense of competence. Users said their apps froze, lost progress, or lost their streaks after missing just one day. Seeing their hard work disappear made them feel like failures, and many stopped trying altogether.
Finally, the study found that many users felt unsupported. The apps’ reminders to post about their meals or warnings about certain foods often felt more like criticism (批评) than help.
The researchers said that fitness apps should be designed to support realistic goals. Instead of focusing on eating fewer calories and keeping perfect streaks, the apps should help people enjoy exercise, find balance and be kind to themselves.
Until that happens, the app that is supposed to motivate you might actually be the thing making you want to give up!
1.What is the main finding of the new study?
A.Fitness apps are useless for motivation.
B.Most users find it hard to use fitness apps.
C.Fitness apps are only popular among young people.
D.Fitness apps may make users feel worse instead of better.
2.Why do fitness apps reduce users’ autonomy?
A.Because they are too expensive.
B.Because they focus only on exercise.
C.Because they never set goals on their own.
D.Because they set goals without considering users’ needs.
3.What does the underlined word “streaks” mean in paragraph 5?
A.Short breaks. B.Goals.
C.Personal feelings. D.Continuous (连续不断的) records.
4.How should these apps be improved?
A.By adding more fun feature (功能). B.By helping users enjoy exercise.
C.By offering more detailed suggestions. D.By focusing more strictly on users’ goals.
5.Who should follow the suggestions in the passage?
A.Private doctors. B.Marketing experts (专家).
C.Fitness coaches. D.App developers.

They moved mountains, changed the river’s path to build the dam, which is about 2.3 kilometers long and 185 meters high — as tall as a 60-floor building!
④Today, the dam plays an important part in China. It has greatly reduced flood risks, protecting cities and farmlands. The dam’s power stations produce clean electricity for millions of homes and factories, helping reduce air pollution. Its connecting system helps ships pass. Ships enter a lock, and gates close. Water level inside the lock rises or falls to match the next section. When the water levels become the same, gates open and the ship moves to the next lock.
⑤The Three Gorges Dam is not just a dam—it’s a symbol of China’s courage and creativity.Visitors from around the world come to see this modern wonder. Students learn about its scientific achievements and the spirit of teamwork behind it. The dam teaches us that with determination (决心), humans can overcome even the most difficult challenges of nature.

In early March 2026, a free AI tool called OpenClaw became popular in China. People call it “the Lobster” (龙虾) because its icon is a red lobster. It started a fashion across the country called “raising lobsters”—that means setting up and using this AI tool. A large number of technology fans waited in line for free setup in Shenzhen and Shanghai, and many people also paid for quick online help with setting it up.
Unlike other common chat tools like ChatGPT, OpenClaw can do different kinds of practical tasks. It can work on many computer systems and goes well with everyday office programs. It can organize information, edit documents (编辑文件), and solve computer problems by itself, serving as a helpful tool. This change from “just chatting” to “working” made people want more suitable machines. Apple’s Mac mini has been sold out all over the world. Big companies like Tencent and Baidu have added one-click setting to make it easier to use, and local governments have made helpful rules to support similar research and develop new ideas.
However, fast growth also brings risks. China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (工信部) warned that wrong setup might lead to cyberattacks and data leaks. Because of this risk, some big international companies even stopped using OpenClaw. Also, people who use it a lot have to keep paying for necessary language services. As international news said, OpenClaw shows the quick rise of useful AI tools and can help people work better. However, to make it grow well and last long, we need a balanced way: we must put new technology, online safety, and cost control together.
1.How does the writer describe OpenClaw’s popularity in Paragraph 1?
A.By asking questions B.By telling a story
C.By giving examples D.By listing reasons
2.What makes OpenClaw different from common chat tools?
A.It is able to complete practical tasks by itself.
B.It supports talking with people all over the world.
C.It provides free office programs for users.
D.It works faster than other AI tools.
3.What can we know from the second paragraph?
A.OpenClaw will be in use in most companies soon.
B.Apple’s Mac mini is the only machine people can buy.
C.Local governments do nothing for the development of OpenClaw.
D.OpenClaw helps increase the sales of suitable machines.
4.What does the phrase “cyberattacks and data leaks” most probably mean in Paragraph 3?
A.helping people work better by sharing useful information
B.harmful online actions and losing private information
C.collecting and keeping information in a safe way
D.sending information to others quickly through the Internet
5.Which opinion would the writer probably agree with?
A.OpenClaw will do all the office work soon.
B.OpenClaw is a useful AI tool but needs proper use and management.
C.It’s right for big international companies to stop using OpenClaw.
D.OpenClaw’s success shows that ChatGPT is no longer useful.

①The 2026 Government Work Report clearly says that China will support some areas to carry out spring and autumn holidays for primary and secondary school students, while putting into practice the wrong-time paid leave (错峰带薪休假) system for workers. As a hot topic, the rule has been tested in provinces such as Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Sichuan.
②These short holidays bring many good points to students. They can lower study stress and help students keep healthy both in body and mind. With nice and comfortable weather, students can go out of classrooms to take part in activities, including farming experiences, nature watching and local culture learning. In this way, book knowledge is turned into real-life experience.
③The holidays also bring good points to families. Wrong-time leave allows parents to spend happy time with their children at lower costs, avoiding the crowds during busy travel seasons. Many families choose to travel, visit relatives or go to museums together, making family ties closer. At the same time, the holidays help develop local tourism and economy (旅游业与经济), making a win-win situation for education and society.
④However, there are still difficulties in carrying out these rules. The main problem is that many working parents cannot look after their children during the holidays. To solve this, many schools offer childcare services with colorful activities, and local communities offer more activities for students. The holidays can also be set freely according to local situations.

Have you ever looked at a cat’s face and wondered what it is thinking? A fascinating new study from the University of California might have some answers. In a fascinating new study, researchers discovered that cats use 276 different facial expressions to show their feelings—far more than we have ever imagined!
①The scientists visited a local cat cafe in Los Angeles for over several months to observe (观察) 53 cats.
②Out of the expressions they recorded, 45% were friendly and 37% were angry. “A friendly cat moves its ears and whiskers (胡须) forward while closing its eyes slowly—almost like a smile!” However, an angry cat often flattens its ears to its head, makes its pupils smaller and licks its lips,” said the team.
③Although the researchers aren’t sure what the cats were trying to communicate with each other using their faces, they plan to study cats in other places to improve their understanding. They also hope that the research could help animal shelters (收容所) improve the way they look after their cats. Some pet owners even suggest the researchers develop an app that scans a cat’s face to explain its moods—like a “cat translator”.
Next time your cat stares at you, pay attention—it might be “talking” with its face!
1.How does the writer start the passage?
A.By giving numbers. B.By telling a story.
C.By showing some facts. D.By asking a question.
2.Which of the following uses the most facial movements?
A.Cat$

依
据

1.Which of the following Chinese expressions can be used as an example in “Where to buy things?

2.Which picture shows the layout (布局) of houses in ancient China according to the passage?
gate bathroom kitchen
A. B.
C. D.
3.Which of the following can be best put in ________?
A.qishangbaxia B.shangcuanxiatiao C.pangmenzuodao D.zuosiyouxiang
【答案】1.A 2.B 3.C
1.文章“East or West”部分提到“in the Tang Dynasty, there were two popular markets in Chang’an…One was called the East Market, and the other was called the West Market. When shopping, people usually went to the East Market first, and then went to the West Market.”,“东市买骏马,西市买鞍鞯”正是分别在东市和西市购买物品,符合“买东西”这一表达的来源。
2.文章“Up or down”部分说明“In ancient times, houses were laid out in a certain way. The gate of the house would face south, with the bathroom in the northeastern part of the house and the kitchen in the southeastern part.”,因此正确的房屋布局应呈现门朝南、浴室位于东北、厨房位于东南。
3.文章“Left or right”部分指出“in ancient China, ‘left’ was related to being different, such as in yijianxiangzuo.”,随后说“If people don’t accept common beliefs, we still say they are following ________.”,此处应填入与“左”相关且表示偏离正统的成语。“旁门左道”(pangmenzuodao)意为非正统的途径,符合语境。

A.They could work with foreign performers.
B.They could create new kinds of kung fu moves.
C.They changed into different kinds of robots.
D.They could complete difficult kung fu movements.
4.What is the writer’s purpose in writing the last paragraph?
A.To show the meaning and future use of the program.

A.Tie. B.Hide. C.Catch. D.Carry.
4.In which part of a newspaper can we read the passage?
A.CULTURE B.SOCIETY C.SCIENCE D.HISTORY

【答案】1.C 2.B 3.D 4.D

1.How does the writer start the passage?
A.By giving numbers. B.By telling a story.
C.By showing some facts. D.By asking a question.
2.Which of the following uses the most facial movements?
A.Cats. B.Humans. C.Dogs. D.Tigers.
3.What might the scientists do next?
A.Keep on studying to know more about cats.
B.Find out why the cats try to communicate with each other.

So people would say they’re going up to the bathroom and down to the kitchen.
Ancient Chinese not only used shang and xia to refer to (指代) directions but also social positions. For example, people used huangshang to refer to the emperor and dianxia to refer to princes who had a lower position than the emperor.
For a long time in ancient China, “right” stood for a higher position than “left”. For example, the character “佑”, developed from “右”, means a person in a higher position would protect someone in a lower position.
1.Why does the writer use shangcesuo and yijianxiangzuo in the first paragraph?
A.To tell a story. B.To introduce the topic.C.To give an example. D.To solve a mystery.
2.Which picture shows the layout (布局) of houses in ancient China according to the passage?
gate ; bathroom ; kitchen
A. B.
C. D.
3.Which of the following can be best put in ________?
A.qishangmanxia B.shangcuanxiatiao C.pangmenzuodao D.zuosiyouxiang
4.According to the passage, which of the following is TRUE?
A.In ancient China, most of the people were left-handed.
B.In ancient Chinese, the word “right” meant being different.
C.In India, people should shake hands with their right hand.
D.When shaking hands, we should never use the left hand.

【答案】1.B 2.D 3.B 4.B

【答案】1.B 2.C 3.A 4.D
1.文章第二段提到“Everything around you—from the ringing of phones to the people passing by—seemed to be away.”,说明当人们处于心流状态时,周围的一切,包括电话铃声等,好像都不存在了,A选项“忘记时间”、C选项“全神贯注于任务”、D选项“对他们所做的事感到兴奋”在文中均有体现,所以当人们处于心流状态时,不能做到的是B选项“听到电话铃声”。
2.“With flow, people have greater levels of happiness and satisfaction in their activities.” 文章第四段主要讲述了心流带来的优势,如“During flow, people can work faster and better.”以及“Flow can also make people more curious and creative...”,该句放在此处能进一步说明心流的优势,所以应放在③处。
3.文章第三段提到“He finally drew the conclusion that when the challenge is difficult and we believe we have enough skills, flow happens.”,即当挑战困难且我们相信自己有足够技能时,心流就会发生。

A.Strange. B.Funny. C.Peaceful. D.Healthy.
【答案】1.C 2.D 3.B 4.B 5.A
1.第二段说明睡眠问题:“Its position presents its own challenges”以及“whether you want your arms inside or outside the sleeping bag”,因此宇航员需要考虑选择合适的睡眠姿势。
2.第三段说明零重力下的锻炼情况:“You can watch a film while you ride by floating a microcomputer anywhere you want”,因此在零重力下可以边骑行边看电影。
3.第三段解释二氧化碳头痛的原因:“Without gravity to help circulate air, the carbon dioxide you breathe in has a tendency to form an invisible cloud around your head”,所以重力有助于帮助空气循环,从而防止二氧化碳聚集导致头痛。
4.最后一段指出NASA的主要担忧:“how to maintain strength and fitness for the two and a half years or more that it would take to make a round-trip to Mars”,因此主要关心宇航员如何在太空中长期保持健康。
5.第一段开篇点题:“The strangeness of life in space never quite goes away”,直接说明太空生活始终存在陌生感。
