It had been my dream to attend the famous carnival for many years, so I was excited. However, the moment I arrived, I was a little bit nervous because there were so many people on the streets. They say that five or six million people come to Rio during carnival time and about two million of them are on the streets on any given day. Luckily, I had a local guide, my sister’s friend Ronnie. He said he would take care of me and show me around at the carnival. He did not let me down. Well, the carnival is all about the samba. It’s a style of music and dance which has its origins in Africa. Lots of Africans were used as slave labor by the Portuguese when Brazil was being conquered, so this mixed culture of African, Latin and European styles is really strong here. Samba music is usually fast and exciting with a lot of drums and harmonic vocals (和声). It’s the kind of music that you couldn’t help dancing to. And I was learning that as I followed Ronnie through the crowd, I couldn’t help moving my hips and shoulders. Ronnie had got us tickets for the samba parade inside the Sambadrome where the top samba schools compete for the championship, but we still had a long way to go through the street parties. He said most people enjoy the carnival by making their own parties in the street. About the samba parade, twelve main teams compete for the championship, and if they win, their performance will be talked about for years to come. So, you must be wondering how it was. Well, I’m afraid I can’t tell you. Ronnie and I never made into the Sambadrome. We spent the day moving from one street party to another. There were more snacks, more drinks and lots of dancing. Do I regret missing the main parade? Not at all. I experienced the carnival like the locals, and it was truly amazing. 24. How did the author feel once she arrived at the carnival? A. Disappointed. B. Anxious. C. Excited. D. Annoyed. 25. What can be known about samba in Paragraph 2? A. It has a strong mixed culture. B. Its music is always fast but soft. C. It is not to the taste of the author. D. It has its origins in South America. 26. Why didn’t the author regret missing the main parade? A. She met some amazing local people. B. She gave her own parties in the street. C. She celebrated the festival in a local way. D. She didn’t have the tickets for the parade. 27. What is the purpose of the passage? A. To recommend a helpful guide. B. To encourage people to learn samba. C. To share an unforgettable experience. D. To tell a cruel history of Rio de Janeiro. C Stories have long been used to instill (逐渐灌输) moral and cultural values in young children, but there is little research exploring the effectiveness of such stories. “We should not take it for granted that classic moral stories will automatically promote moral behavior,” says lead author Dr. Kang Lee of the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study at the University of Toronto. “As parents, we want to know how effective the stories actually are in promoting honesty,” adds study co-author Victoria Talwar of McGill University. “Do the messages go in one ear and out the other, or do children listen to them and take them to heart?” To find out, Lee and Talwar conducted an experiment with 268 children aged 3 to 7. Each child played a game that required guessing the identity of a toy on the basis of the sound it made. In the middle of the game, the experimenter was out for a minute, telling the child not to glance at the toy left on the table. For most children, this temptation (诱惑) was too hard to resist. When the experimenter returned, she read the child a story, either The Rabbit and the Turtle, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Pinocchio, or George Washington and the Cherry Tree. Afterward, the experimenter asked the child to tell the truth about whether he or she glanced at the toy. To the experimenter’s surprise, Pinocchio and The Boy Who Cried Wolf, which relate lying to negative consequences, were no more effective at promoting honest behavior than a fable unrelated to honesty, or in this case, The Rabbit and the Turtle. Only the made-up tale about young George Washington seemed to inspire the kids to admit glancing. Children who heard the tale in which the future first president was complimented because of admitting his mistake and rewarded with a candy were three times more likely to tell the truth than their fellows who heard other stories. “Our study shows that to promote moral behavior such as honesty, stressing the positive outcomes of honesty rather than the negative consequences of dishonesty is the key,” they note. “This may apply to other morals as well.” More research is necessary to determine whether moral stories influence kids’ behavior in the long term. Still, they have been quick to take advantage of the findings, Talwar reports a shift in her own parenting practices: “It really seems to work. I use this now with my child.” 28. What is the aim of the experiment mentioned in the text? A. To find out which story is educational at school. B. To make sure if the children can resist temptation. C. To see the effectiveness of stories in promoting honesty. D. To ensure the precision in guessing the identity of a toy. 29. What does the underlined word “complimented” mean in paragraph 4? A. Criticized. B. Praised. C. Ignored. D. Respected. 30. What does Talwar mean in the last paragraph? A. She won’t apply the findings to educating her child. B. Her child shows a strong interest in moral stories. C. Her parents have changed their way of education. D. She realizes the positive influence of moral stories on children. 31. What’s the author’s attitude toward the experiment? A. Unclear. B. Conflicting. C. Favourable. D. Objective. D If a stranger knocked on your door asking for using your phone, would you help? How about lending them five dollars for the bus, if they said they’d return and pay you back? Nowadays, many people find it hard to trust strangers. A recent study found that our ability to trust strangers may be more than just a social or psychological trait (特征) — it could be rooted in our DNA. This is important, as it turns out that trusting people might actually live longer and healthier lives compared to more skeptical people. Two main theories have appeared to explain why some people are more trusting than others. One suggests trust is a stable trait shaped by early life experiences. The other thinks it’s influenced by a person’s ongoing evaluation of the social environment. We can easily imagine that the answer to the question “Would you say that most people can be trusted?” would depend on whether you’d been robbed the day before or if you’d had your dropped wallet returned. This is where the recent research comes in. A professor of Lund University, Edgerton and his coworkers have been doing research about trust. In their most recent study, involving 33,882 Danish blood donors, their analyses identified a single gene (基因), PLPP4, which was strongly associated with the trait of trusting others. They discovered that the PLPP4 gene explained 6% of the variation in social trust within the study population. If you take two people who have similar education and life experiences, this gene alone could account for 6% of the difference in how much they trust others. They suspect that the PLPP4 gene may somehow soften our “fight-or-flight” survival mechanism. If our fight-or-flight system is less intense when we encounter new people, it makes sense that tending to trust others could have huge health benefits. Indeed, if trusting others acts as something against health stress, it may lower the risk of cardiovascular (心血管的) disease. As people continue to uncover the mysteries of trust, one thing is clear: Understanding its genetic roots may hold the key to developing healthier communities in the world. 32. What might affect people’s trust levels according to the existing theories? A. Their childhood habits. B. Their social experiences. C. Their personal abilities. D. Their communication skills. 33. What does the recent study focus on? A. The ways to develop survival ability. B. The mental cause of trust. C. The connection between trust and a gene. D. The features of different genes. 34. What does the text say about trusting others? A. It could bring health benefits. B. It helps to develop the world faster. C. It lessens the intense stress in work. D. It causes better survival mechanisms. 35. What might be the best title for the text? A. Theories That Explain Why You Are Trusted B. Experiences Can Make You Grow Dependable C. A Link Between Biology and Social Science D. A Gene Influences How Trusting You Are 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 You are looking at a website and an advertisement jumps out, asking for donations to people in need of warm clothes. You pay for a few items at a drugstore and the clerk asks if you’d like to donate school supplies to less fortunate children. Opportunities to give money to those in need are everywhere. 36. ________ Does it depend on your mood? Or does it depend on who’s watching? According to a new study in the Journal of Consumer Research, a major factor that may determine whether we donate is where we stand on two moral qualities: empathy and a sense of justice. They often appear to pull us in two different directions. 37. ________ For example, you believe that a homeless man has caused his own misfortune and he could have made better choices. 38. ________ On the other hand, if you can understand the pain causing him to slip into the hopeless situation, you would tend to give. For the study, researchers asked people to donate to charities. In the charities the donors believed the sufferers were responsible for their own situation (such as those who cannot keep a job due to alcohol use). 39. ________ Furthermore, if the participants felt that they almost always make moral choices, they seemed to feel less empathetic towards the sufferers and were less likely to donate money. 40. ________ It’s empathy that connects us and encourages us to reach out. In fact, any type of suffering can help us relate to another person’s suffering, prompting us to reach out and help. Actually, when asked to recall their own past immoral behaviour, the participants seemed able to empathize more with those sufferers. As a result, they were more likely to donate. A. Then you will probably not give any money. B. This suggests that creativity can increase generosity. C. But which situations drive you to reach for your wallet? D. So trying to keep a balance between them can be difficult. E. Empathy is considered a great power among several factors. F. So next time, think about whether empathy is guiding your decision. G. And some participants considered it immoral to donate to such persons. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) Mason Branstrator has always been an athlete, but three years ago, an accident happened to him. We had known each other since first grade, and we literally did everything together. We frequently visited each other’s homes, we knew each other’s families like they were our own. The interesting thing about our relationship, however, was the fact that the older we got, the more our values seemed to differ. We still enjoyed a lot of the same things, but I was a bit more settled while she loved being associated with popular people and things. Although she was basically a good person, she had no problem with forcing things to go her way. Perhaps this is why it seemed that her family actually trusted me more than they trusted her. So, on the day when Missy showed up at my house with a huge dent (凹痕) in her father’s car, I knew that we were in for a troublesome time. She had banged the car into a tree while out that day, and she knew her father was going to have an explanation. So she stopped by my house in order to make up a story that would lessen her father’s rage. Missy decided to tell him that while in a parking lot, someone must have backed into the car and dented (使产生凹痕) it. Looking at the dent with some crashed leaves and bark (树皮) still sticking there, I attempted to perish (打消) her thought, “I don’t think your father will buy it.” “Don’t worry,” she insisted, “even if my dad doesn’t trust me, he’ll trust you.” My role was to confirm for her. Now keep in mind that I had strong objections to the situation and I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. I loved her parents just like my own, and I did not want to be a party to this lie that Missy was creating. Nevertheless, after much request and a general questioning of my loyalty to our friendship, I decided that the least I could do was to act as a silent witness. That way, I wasn’t actually lying; I just wasn’t telling the full truth. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 An hour or so later, we presented Missy’s father with the car and the inquiry began. _____________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Her father looked at me with great disbelief. ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 郑州中学2026年高一年级下学期英语模拟测试 答案 第1部分 听力 1—5 BACCB 6—10 BCACB 11—15 BAACC 16—20 ACAAB 第2部分 阅读理解 21-25 BBCBA 26-30 CCCBD 31-35 DBCAD 36-40 CDAGE 第3部分 完形填空 41-45 CCABD 46-50 BBCAD 51-55 ABCAD 语法填空 56.a 57.firms 58.that/which 59.flexibility 60.with 61.to compare 62.noting 63.have performed 64.identified 65.are targeted 第一部分 听力 Text 1 M: I'm lightheaded—I can hardly stay seated here. W: Rest in your bed and take the medicine once every eight hours. If you still feel bad, come back for a follow-up. Text 2 M: Come on, Betty! The art exhibition opens at 9:30. W: Alright. We only have twenty minutes to get there before it begins. Text 3 W: It's nearly 7:00 pm, Leo. Want to come with us for a walk by the lake later on? M: Sorry, Mia. I need to take it easy on my knees this month. I'll just head home and relax with a documentary instead. Text 4 M: A box for Lily. Could you sign here, please? Also, I'll take a shot with my phone. W: That's crazy fast! I ordered it during lunch break. M: Beats me, pal. I just hand out the student parcels from the campus post room. Text 5 W: I need to get to the client's office tomorrow morning, but my bike has broken down. M: I'll save you the trouble of waiting for a taxi by picking you up and dropping you off there on my way to the company. W: Thank you. Text 6 M: Would you like to visit the new bookstore with us, Emma? W: Yes, but I have to finish my English essay first. Do you mind waiting for 25 minutes, Jack? There are a few photography books on the desk. M: Shouldn't the English essay be handed in next Monday? W: Yeah, but I have back-to-back lectures on Sunday and will go to a film screening on Saturday. M: Got it. You keep working, and I'll run through some photography articles while waiting.  Text 7 M: Could you spare me a minute? I've been trying to fix my broken laptop for three weeks. I thought it'd be simple to get it working again, but I've checked online guides, and it's still not right. W: I wish I could help, but I haven't touched any electronic repairs since my nephew taught me a little trick years back! M: Come on, I've been running to repair shops—it's taking up all my free time lately! W: I get it. I quit my tech support job a year ago after 15 years there! If you want, I can put you in touch with my former workmate who specializes in laptop repairs. M: That would be amazing! Thanks a lot. Text 8 M: Hey, Mary. I'm joining a cycling group downtown this weekend. W: Nice! Are you sticking to city bike paths or country roads? M: Neither. I'm going to hit the dirt roads in the forest park. W: Oh, I thought you'd want to do road cycling like me. M: I do, but I find long straight roads pretty boring. W: Road cycling is more about keeping going for a long time, but I found it relaxing once I got used to it. Now I've mastered the routes, so I want to try something different. M: You should try mountain biking—it's exciting. W: But my bike is not built for rough ground. It's a basic everyday bike, and mountain trails need shock absorbers. I think dirty road cycling fits better—my bike can handle that, so I'm going with that. M: Fair enough. That makes total sense. Text 9 M: Helen, I noticed you always carry a handmade notebook—did you buy it from the campus store? W: No, I made it myself! And I enjoy crafting notebooks because it helps me shake off the stress from term papers and group presentations. M: I want to make my own, too. What supplies should I start with? W: Grab basic brown paper, a needle, and cotton thread. M: Cool! Any tips for the first try? W: Two key things—fold the paper neatly so pages line up, and don't pull the thread too tight or it'll bend the pages. M: Can I start making one this weekend? W: Totally! The dorm common room has tables with good light—perfect for crafting. Want to add any extra touches? M: Yeah, I want to decorate the cover with pressed flowers. W: Great idea! You can also add a small piece of cloth bookmark. M: It sounds fun, but I'm worried I'll mess up the sewing. W: I have extra supplies and a step-by-step guide. I'll meet you in the common room tomorrow and walk you through it—like how to tie the thread securely. M: Thank you so much! (Text 10) M: Today, I have some wonderful news for campus environmentalists: A group of students from a high school in Chicago have invented a practical smart device to save water in school restrooms. Tap water waste used to be a noticeable problem there, though no one did it intentionally. Recently, the school has set up this student-made device on all restroom taps. How does it work? It is equipped with a sensitive motion sensor—once users' hands leave the area under the tap, the sensor will cause the device to shut off water automatically within one second. What's more, it's adjustable: Users can easily turn a small switch to control water flow based on their needs, ensuring no more unnecessary waste. Designed last semester, the device was tested in March and formally used in May. It's cheap to make and easy to set up, fitting most school taps in Chicago and even many common types of taps in middle and high schools across the country. It ' s my honor to speak here. Today I want to talk about my favorite traditional Chinese festival. As is known to all, China is famous for its rich and varied traditional festivals, among which I am fond of the Spring Festival best. The Spring Festival, which is the most significant traditional festivals in China, falls on the eve of the lunar New Year and lasts fifteen days. There are a variety of activities taking place during the Spring Festival. To begin with, houses cleaned and decorated, delicious snacks stored and couplets posted on the doors, all that people feel is a festive atmosphere. What matters most is that all family members will return to their hometowns for a traditional family reunion and have a big dinner on the eve of the Spring Festival. People also watch TV gala until the clock strikes 12 and then set off fireworks to welcome the New Year. In addition , there are also many other customs such as dragon dances and lion dances . While celebrating the Spring Festival, families can not only reunite but also experience and enjoy traditional Chinese culture. That ' s why I like it best . That ' s all. Thanks for your listening ! 第二节 One possible version: Finally, we presented Missy's father with the car and the inquiry began. Looking at the car, he threw a questioning glance at Missy, obviously demanding an explanation. With a seemingly flawless narrative prepared, Missy recapped her made-up story in a rather sincere voice, while I stood there in silent agreement. His forehead knotting in a frown, he circled the car and walked over to the dented area for a closer inspection, his fingers tracing the edges of the dent. Sensing a hint of skepticism in his eyes, Missy blurted out. “If you don’t trust me, you could ask my best friend.” She nudged me slightly as if to beg for assistance. Struggling for what seemed like an eternity, I nodded reluctantly, not daring to meet his eyes. Her father looked at me with great disbelief. An enormous wave of guilt mingled with remorse surging through me, I was torn between the so-called “loyalty” to my friend and the pursuit of integrity. Ultimately, the latter took the upper hand and I stammered out the truth. The air seemed to freeze. Missy, visibly shocked by my “betrayal”, glared at me with a pair of blazing eyes. Overwhelmed with a bewildering array of emotions, I lowered my head and gazed at the floor, bracing myself for the scolding and blame that was sure to come. Yet, contrary to my expectations, instead of erupting with rage, he sighed deeply and addressed us in a stern and solemn tone, “A dent in metal can be repaired, but how about the dent made in trust and honesty?” His words, like a bucket of cold water, melted Missy’s rage into shame. A gust of wind blew, sweeping away the crashed leaves sticking in the dent, as well as clearing the fog in my heart.
