故填an。

I was on the edge of burnout, after months of hard preparation for the college entrance exams. Every day was filled with textbooks and endless practice papers, and I had gradually moved away from music, the very thing that once brought me the greatest joy.
One weekend, I happened to come across a street music festival. Among the performers was a young girl around my age, she had a voice that seemed to cut through my tiredness and I can’t help tapping my feet, with a long-lost sense of excitement welling up inside.
That performance served as a turning point. It made me realize how much I had been sacrificing my inner self for school achievements. With determination, I got back my old piano sheet music and changed my study schedule. Despite the heavy workload, I set aside a fixed period to enjoy music. Whether I was practicing challenging classical pieces or creating simple melodies, those musical moments became a necessary part of my daily life.
Surprisingly, these music breaks became a source of energy and inspiration. The pleasant flow of notes calmed my nerves, improved my concentration and refreshed my mind. I began to study with newfound eagerness. Music, in fact, taught me that even in the most stressful times, I could maintain my love for music while still staying devoted to my study-related goals, achieving a balance between aim and interest.
4. Why did the author stop enjoying music before?
A. Busy exam preparation. B. Less interest in music.
C. Family pressure for grades. D. Negative effects of addiction.
5. What did the girl’s performance inspire the author to do?
A. To dance with the girl. B. To feel sorry for relaxing.

Middle school students who spend more than an hour each day on the Internet on weekdays have significantly lower test scores, according to a study at Rutgers University-New Brunswick.
Researchers say the findings give parents and children a threshold for using entertainment-related technology—no more than one hour daily on weekdays and four hours a day on weekends."Interactive(交互式的) technology is widely used to improve children's educational access and achievement," said lead author Vivien. "Technology is important for remote learning. But there's a growing concern that too much
technology use, particularly for entertainment, may affect children's educational development by holding them back."
In the research, about 10,000 first-year middle school students were surveyed and followed. Their average age was 13.5. The results showed that children who used the Internet for entertainment four or more hours daily were four times more likely to skip school than those who didn't. Boys used interactive technology for entertainment more than girls. Boys also performed worse and showed lower school
engagement levels than girls.
"Such findings are important, particularly in the recent online learning in countries throughout the world," said Vivien. "In a learning environment with the Internet, it is easy for children to move from study to entertainment."
Vivien said children who used a bit of technology in study experienced less boredom at school, possibly due to the positive effects of participation in social media on students' relationship building and children's cognitive (认知的) development.
The findings suggest that parents place time limits on their children's interactive technology use, and that parents and teachers should help children to develop effective time management and self-regulation skills to reduce their dependence on technology.

10.What conclusion did Vivien draw from the study?
A.Online learning helps children manage time.
B.A bit use of technology is helpful to children.
C.Schools have the responsibility to limit online lessons.
D.Children under 13 should be kept away from the Internet.
11.Where is this text most likely from?

Scientists from Australia and Indonesia have discovered the oldest cave art on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. This ancient painting, presenting a wild pig and three human-like figures, is at least 51,200 years old, making it over 5,000 years older than the previous oldest known cave art.
The artwork features a pig standing still with its mouth slightly open, surrounded by at least three human-like figures, one of which is holding a stick, another appearing to be in front of the pig with a stick touching its throat, and the third figure seemingly upside down with one hand reaching toward the pig’s head.
The discovery suggests that early humans were capable of creative thought much earlier than previously believed. Professor Maxime Aubert from Griffith University in Australia explained that the painting, by demonstrating that humans at that time could think in abstract ways, represents the oldest evidence of storytelling, an essential cognitive leap (认知飞跃) in human evolution. Adhi Agus Oktaviana, an Indonesian rock art specialist who led the team of scientists, stated that storytelling has been an essential part of human culture for a long time, and while humans have likely been telling stories for much longer than 51,200 years, this painting provides the oldest evidence of such storytelling.
Previously, the oldest known drawings were found in the Blombos Caves in South Africa, dating back 75,000 to 100,000 years. These were simple geometric (几何学的) patterns. By comparison, the new painting in Sulawesi represents a significant advancement, showing a more complex understanding and description of the world.
The innovative dating method used for this discovery, which involves laser (激光器) cutting small parts of the artwork for detailed analysis, has provided more accurate results and can lead to the re-dating of other cave art sites around the world, potentially pushing back the timeline for the appearance of representational art even further.
In summary, the discovery of the Sulawesi cave painting is a groundbreaking one that sheds new light on the early cognitive abilities of humans and enhances our understanding of the evolution of human creativity.
12. Why are Maxime Aubert and Adhi Agus Oktaviana mentioned in Paragraph 3?
A. To highlight their roles in leading the discovery.
B. To demonstrate the significance of the discovery.
C. To raise doubts about early humans’ creativity.
D. To point out their disagreement with previous research.
13. What sets the new discovery apart from previous ones?
A. It shows artistic complexity. B. It is located in South Africa.
C. It features various animal figures. D. It is characterized by geometric patterns.
14. What role did the innovative dating method play in the discovery?
A. It restored damaged parts of the artwork. B. It proved the discovery the earliest globally.
C. It dated earlier discoveries in the worldwide. D. It provided a new way to reevaluate art history.
