At the 2025 National Swimming Championships, Chinese swimmer Li Bingjie made a big splash (引起轰动). After setting a new Asian record in the women’s 400-meter freestyle, she went on to sweep gold medals in the women’s 200m, 800m and 1,500m freestyle. Even after her successes, the 23-year-old stayed calm.
From a family of professional swimmers, Li has been talented and confident in swimming since she was young. At the 2017 Budapest World Championships, the then 15-year-old girl was a dark horse in China’s swimming team, winning a bronze in the women’s 400m freestyle and a silver in the 800m freestyle. But soon after this highlight (高光时刻), her career took an unexpected dark turn. At the 2019 Gwangju World Championships, Li failed to qualify (获得参赛资格) for the finals in both the women’s 400m and 800m freestyle. The following year, she badly hurt her wrist during training.
Even in the darkest moment of her career, Li didn’t give up her dream of winning at the Olympics. To get back on top form, she swam at least 10,000 meters every day and ran 100 laps (圈) on a high-altitude track field from morning until noon.
“You are facing the bottom of the pool when you’re swimming, and no one’s talking to you. It’s very dull and can be very frightening,” Li told The Beijing News about her long-distance training. It was these tough moments that shaped her into the calm, strong and gentle person she is today.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, she helped the Chinese swimming team take home a bronze medal in the women’s 4×200m freestyle relay. But she still has one more goal: to win an Olympic gold medal in individual events. “Despite the long road ahead, I will keep chasing (追逐) my dreams,” she told Hebei Daily.
24. What did Li Bingjie achieve in 2025?
A. She won a gold and a silver medal.
B. She won more than one gold medal.
C. She managed to qualify for the finals.
D. She set a new world record in swimming.
25. What do we know about Li Bingjie’s experience in 2019 and 2020?
A. Her career once suffered great setbacks.
B. She failed because she didn’t train hard enough.
C. She lost all confidence in her swimming career.
D. She was forced to quit swimming for a short time.
26. What can be inferred from Li Bingjie and training experience?
A. She thinks training with others is more effective.
B. She only trains hard to win Olympic gold medals.
C. She gains strength from the dull and tough training.
D. She complains about the hardship of long-distance training.
27. What does the text mainly talk about?
A. A Star’s Return to Glory B. The Highlight of Li Bingjie
C. The Power of Family Support D. The Challenges in Swimming
C
If you could be anybody in the world, who would it be? Your neighbour or a super star? A few people have experienced what it might be like to step into the skin of another person, thanks to an unusual virtual reality(虚拟现实)device. Rikke Wahl, an actress, model and artist, was one of the participants in a body swapping experiment at the Be Another lab, a project developed by a group of artists based in Barcelona. She swapped with her partner, an actor, using a machine called The Machine to Be Another and temporarily became a man. "As I looked down, I saw my whole body as a man, dressed in my partner's pants," she said. "That's the picture I remember best."
The set-up is relatively simple. Both users wear a virtual reality headset with a camera on the top. The video from each camera is sent to the other person, so what you see is the exact view of your partner. If she moves her arm, you see it. If you move your arm, she sees it.
To get used to seeing another person's body without actually having control of it, participants start by raising their arms and legs very slowly, so that the other can follow along. Eventually, this kind of slow synchronised(同步的)movement becomes comfortable, and participants really start to feel as though they are living in another person's body.
Using such technology promises to alter people's behaviour afterwards-potentially for the better. Studies have shown that virtual reality can be effective in fighting racism-the bias(偏见)that humans have against those who don't look or sound like them. Researchers at the University of Barcelona gave people a questionnaire called the Implicit Association Test, which measures the strength of people's associations between, for instance, black people and adjectives such as good, bad, athletic or awkward. Then they asked them to control the body of a dark skinned digital character using virtual reality glasses, before taking the test again. This time, the participants' bias scores were lower. The idea is that once you've "put yourself in another's shoes" you're less likely to think ill of them, because your brain has internalised the feeling of being that person.
The creators of The Machine to Be Another hope to achieve a similar result. "At the end of body swapping, people feel like holding each other in their arms," says Arthur Pointeau, a programmer with the project. "It's a really nice way to have this kind of experience. I would really, really recommend it to everyone."
28. The word "swapping" (paragraph 1) is closest in meaning to______.
A. building B. exchanging C. controlling D. transplanting
29. We can infer from the experiment at the Be Another lab that______.
A. our feelings are related to our bodily experience
B. we can learn to take control of other people's bodies
C. participants will live more passionately after the experiment
D. The Machine to Be Another can help people change their sexes
30. In the Implicit Association Test, before the participants used virtual reality glasses to control a dark skinned digital character, ______.
A. they fought strongly against racism
B. they scored lower on the test for racism
C. they changed their behaviour dramatically
D. they were more biased against those unlike them
31. It can be concluded from the passage that______.
A. technology helps people realize their dreams
B. our biases could be eliminated through experiments
C. virtual reality helps promote understanding among people
D. our points of view about others need changing constantly
D
The recent announcement of cloned red wolf pups has drawn widespread attention. While Colossal Laboratories & Biosciences celebrated the birth of four red wolf clones and described them as a step toward “de-extinction” on its website, specialists have emphasized that genetic technology is not the real answer to saving threatened species.
Red wolves once lived across large areas of the southeastern United States. However, their numbers decreased quickly in the 1970s due to habitat loss, hunting, and inbreeding with coyotes (郊狼). In 1980, the species was declared extinct in the wild. In fact, to save red wolves, a government captive breeding (圈养繁殖) program, starting in 1973, rebuilt their population to more than 120, and later tried to reintroduce them into the wild. Yet when the program was discontinued in the mid-2010s, their numbers dropped sharply to only seven wolves. The program was restarted in 2021, but now only has about 20 wolves.
Colossal’s four red wolf pups were cloned from cells taken from “ghost wolves” — coyotes with large amounts of red wolf ancestry. But scientists doubt that gene modification (修改) is a particularly useful tool for red wolf conservation at present. They currently don’t have a good picture of red wolf genetics. While they estimate that 80 percent of ghost wolf genes are from red wolf ancestors, and not coyotes, they don’t know for sure which genes are which.
According to scientists, there is a greater risk posed by using genetic technology for “de-extinction,” as it may divert attention from essential work like protecting habitats and rebuilding healthy populations of endangered animals. The danger of believing that genetic technology can replace such hard work is now apparent. Red wolves need protected habitats and careful conservation, rather than fresh genes. If we focus on one and not the other, there is a genuine risk that they will die off once again.
32. What does the captive breeding program in paragraph 2 mainly show?
A. Cloning helps save endangered species.
B. Captive red wolves struggle in the wild.
C. Human activities threaten red wolves most.
D. Sustained protection is key to species recovery.
33. Why do scientists doubt about cloning red wolves?
A. They consider it costs too much.
B. They lack clear genetic knowledge.
C. They don’t think technology is mature.
D. They believe it harms ecological balance.
34. What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A. Genetic tech is the final solution.
B. Overusing tech may lead to failure.
C. Habitat protection is less important.
D. Cloning is necessary for red wolves.
35. What’s the best title for the text?
A. Gene Editing: A De-extinction Solution
B. Protecting Wolves: Beyond Human Efforts
C. Saving Red Wolves: More Than Technology
D. Cloning: A New Hope for Endangered Species

Change is a natural part of life, but when it comes to friendships, it can sometimes feel worrying. You might wonder why this is happening if nothing has gone wrong, or you may start to feel fear about losing connections that once felt unbreakable. ____36____.
While our early friendships help shape our identity, those we form later in life serve different roles, shaping our careers, supporting our responsibilities, and helping us through life’s transitions. ____37____. What we once needed from friendships in high school or early adulthood may no longer fit the realities of our personal growth and life direction.
____38____. They help us navigate our sense of self and social belonging. Friendships at this stage play a defining role in shaping who we are, or at least who we think we want to be. As life moves forward, the friendships that once felt essential may start to fade. This does not necessarily mean they weren’t meaningful, but it’s because we are growing into different versions of ourselves. For many, the transition from high school to adulthood is a turning point in friendships.
As people mature, so do their responsibilities, interests, and environments. ____39____. Losing a friendship, whether from gradually growing distant or experiencing a sudden disconnect, can be emotionally challenging. It’s natural to feel sadness, confusion, or even frustration when someone who once played an important role in your life is no longer present.
Embrace the change and growth. Change is an inevitable part of life, and friendships are no exception. Recognize that friendships evolve doesn’t reduce their past value. ____40____. Rather than seeing it as a loss, embrace it as an opportunity to explore your independence, strengthen your self-identity, and form new connections that fit the person you’re becoming.
A. Instead, it reflects personal growth

67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My senior year was flying by, and the annual school cultural fair was approaching. As an exchange student from China, I was both excited and nervous. This year, Ms. Chen, encouraged us to not just showcase cultures, but to truly share a piece of ourselves. After much thought, I decided to introduce something deeply personal and representative of my heritage: Chinese calligraphy.
I spent days preparing. I brought my favorite inkstone, a bundle of precious rice paper, and my grandfather’s brush-a family heirloom (传家宝) he had given to me before my journey, saying it “carried the spirit of our culture” and asking me to “share its story”. Setting up my booth, I arranged everything carefully, feeling a mix of pride and the heavy weight of responsibility.
Soon, the hall was buzzing with students and their families exploring various cultures. Many paused at my booth (摊位), curious about the elegant strokes I demonstrated. I explained the meaning behind different characters like he (和) and you (友), feeling a growing confidence as I shared my culture.
Then, a group of younger students gathered around, their eyes wide with wonder. One boy, especially eager, reached out to touch the brush. He was closely followed by his mother, who watched with a kind and encouraging smile. In a split second, the unthinkable happened. His elbow knocked over the small bottle of ink. Dark, thick liquid spread rapidly across the clean white paper I had just written on, making the characters into a messy black pool. The boy stepped back, his face pale with panic.
“I’m so sorry!” he stammered. His mother’s smile vanished, replaced by a look of concern as she stepped forward, a hand gently resting on her son’s shoulder. The chatter around us stopped. Everyone was staring at the ruined work and my grandfather’s brush, now stained with ink. My heart sank. That paper was my best piece, and the brush felt heavy with history in my hand.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
Para. 1: I took a deep breath, looking at the boy’s anxious face.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Para. 2: As the fair neared its end, the boy returned to my booth, holding a carefully wrapped package.

M: It’s OK, Mom. It’s fun to cook with my roommates while eating at the cafeteria is less interesting.
W: I bet you don’t even eat any vegetables. Make sure to eat fruits and vegetables so you stay healthy.
M: Mom, I’m perfectly healthy.
W: Well, I don’t know. But besides that, is everything all right? How are you with money?
M: Actually, money is tight. I use all my money on textbooks and don’t have any left. After car insurance, I have nothing left for rent.
W: Why didn’t you say so earlier? I’ll transfer money to your account when I get home.
M: Thanks, Mom. But I can settle the problem. I’ve got a part-time job.
W: It’s no problem, as long as you promise to do less of your teaching job and focus on your education. Money should not be on your mind right now. You’ll only have to think about it when you’re older. You need good grades this year if you want to continue medical school.
M: That is my dream. I will study harder.
W: One second, someone’s calling me. I’ll take this call, and then we can go for lunch. Are you busy?
M: No, but I have to be back on campus by 2:00 p. m.

【原文】W: Hello. Care for the Community. How can I help you?
M: Oh, good morning. I'm interested in doing some part-time work for your organization. My name is Philippa Tailor. I'm a student at the University of Leicester.
W: Good morning, Philippa. When would you be available to work? Days? Evenings?
M: Well, days would be difficult, as I have classes then. I am thinking maybe a couple of evenings a week, or maybe three. But no more than that.
W: OK. Philippa, why are you interested in working for us?
M: Well, I major in Social Care Studies. I'm hoping to apply for a job in social care when I graduate, and this would give me some work experience in this field.
W: Great. And what makes you suitable for this kind of work, do you think?
M: Well, I have very good communication skills. That's my strong point, I think. And I'm a good listener. Sometimes you can help by just listening, you know.
W: I agree. Hmm, right. What I'd like to do, if it's OK with you, is to fix an appointment so we can meet and talk about this some more. It wouldn't be anything formal, not an interview or anything like that. Er, how are you fixed for Tuesday 9th September at 4:30?
M: Ah, I'm sorry. I have a lesson then. Would Wednesday be possible?
W: The 10th? Yes, that would be fine.

A website called “bookcrossing.com” can help you with that. This is a book sharing website for readers for free around the world. It is just like an online library. Users can put their books on the website for others to read. Or they can read books which are offered by others.
Sometimes books are put into some public places like coffee shops, restaurants and stations. Members can view a list on the website. If a member wants a book of the list, he can go there to get the book and read it. On the website, the yellow numbers can show how many books were put in the last 30 days. If the number is red, it shows how many books were put at the place in the last 3 days.

【答案】28. B 29. A 30. D 31. C
She swapped with her partner, an actor, using a machine called The Machine to Be Another and temporarily became a man. "As I looked down, I saw my whole body as a man, dressed in my partner's pants," she said. "That's the picture I remember best."可知,她和她的搭档,一个演员,用一台叫The Machine to Be Another交换了身体。”
Eventually, this kind of slow synchronised(同步的)movement becomes comfortable, and participants really start to feel as though they are living in another person's body.
Studies have shown that virtual reality can be effective in fighting racism-the bias(偏见)that humans have against those who don't look or sound like them.
The idea is that once you've "put yourself in another's shoes" you're less likely to think ill of them, because your brain has internalised the feeling of being that person. At the end of body swapping, people feel like holding each other in their arms," says Arthur Pointeau, a programmer with the project可知,这个想法是,一旦你“设身处地地处在别人的位置时”,你就不太可能对他们不好,因为你的大脑已经内化了成为那个人的感觉。在身体交换后,人们想要张开双臂,彼此拥抱。故判断出虚拟现实帮助促进人们之间的理解,故选C。
【答案】32. D 33. B 34. B 35. C

【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了红狼克隆技术引发的争议,以及科学家对使用基因技术拯救濒危物种的质疑,强调栖息地保护和持续保育工作的重要性。
【32题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段中“In fact, to save red wolves, a government captive breeding (圈养繁殖) program, starting in 1973, rebuilt their population to more than 120, and later tried to reintroduce them into the wild. Yet when the program was discontinued in the mid-2010s, their numbers dropped sharply to only seven wolves.(事实上,为了拯救红狼,一项始于1973年的政府圈养繁殖计划将其种群数量恢复到120多只,后来尝试将它们重新引入野外。然而,当该计划于2010年代中期停止时,它们的数量急剧下降到仅有7只。)”可知,圈养繁殖计划的成功与失败对比表明,持续的保护是物种恢复的关键。故选D。
【33题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“But scientists doubt that gene modification (修改) is a particularly useful tool for red wolf conservation at present. They currently don’t have a good picture of red wolf genetics.(但科学家怀疑基因改造目前并不是红狼保护的一个特别有用的工具。他们目前对红狼的遗传学还没有清晰的认识。)”可知,科学家对克隆红狼持怀疑态度是因为他们缺乏清晰的遗传学知识。故选B。
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段中“The danger of believing that genetic technology can replace such hard work is now apparent. Red wolves need protected habitats and careful conservation, rather than fresh genes. If we focus on one and not the other, there is a genuine risk that they will die off once again.(相信基因技术可以取代这种艰苦工作的危险现在已经很明显了。红狼需要受保护的栖息地和精心的保育,而不是新的基因。如果我们只关注其中一个而忽视另一个,它们再次灭绝的风险是真实存在的。)”可知,过度依赖基因技术而忽视栖息地保护可能导致失败。故选B。
【35题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第一段中“While Colossal Laboratories & Biosciences celebrated the birth of four red wolf clones and described them as a step toward “de-extinction” on its website, specialists have emphasized that genetic technology is not the real answer to saving threatened species.(尽管科洛塞尔生物科学实验室对四只克隆红狼的诞生表示庆贺,并在其官网称这是迈向“物种反灭绝”的一步,但专家强调基因技术并不是拯救濒危物种的真正答案。)”以及最后一段中“Red wolves need protected habitats and careful conservation, rather than fresh genes(红狼需要受保护的栖息地和精心的保育,而不是新的基因。)”可知,文章主旨是拯救红狼需要更多技术手段之外的工作。故选C。

B. We feel very sad at losing close friends
C. This leads to adjustments in their social circles
D. We expect to have life-long friends in our childhood
E. The truth is, as we grow and change, so do our relationships
F. Research highlights that as we mature, our social priorities shift
G. During our young adulthood, friendships serve as a mirror to our identity

It is an excellent choice for several reasons. First, it requires little space, allowing teachers to play it conveniently in the office or gym without taking too much time. Besides, it is not overly intense, helping teachers relieve pressure and relax their bodies and minds after long hours of teaching. 第二节(满分25分)
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
Para. 1: I took a deep breath, looking at the boy’s anxious face.

Para. 2: As the fair neared its end, the boy returned to my booth, holding a carefully wrapped package.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】例文
Para. 1: I took a deep breath, looking at the boy’s anxious face. A flash of hot anger surged through me — that was my grandfather’s precious brush, and my best work was ruined! But as I saw his trembling lip and the genuine terror in his eyes, my anger began to cool. Scolding him would only make this worse and go against the very spirit of “you” I had been trying to share. “It’s ... it’s alright,” I managed, my voice softer than I expected. “Let’s see what we can do.” An idea sparked. I guided his still-shaking hand to hold the brush. “In Chinese art,” I explained, “we sometimes find beauty in accidents.” Together, we transformed the inkblot into the sturdy trunk of a bamboo plant-a classic symbol in Chinese culture which represents resilience.
Para. 2: As the fair neared its end, the boy returned to my booth, holding a carefully wrapped package. “My mom helped me find this,” he said shyly. Inside was a small, beautiful inkstone. “I told her how you taught me about turning mistakes into something good.” His mother smiled behind him, adding, “He hasn’t stopped talking about Chinese culture all afternoon.” As they left, I looked at my grandfather’s brush, now permanently marked by today’s events. I realized its true story wasn’t about remaining perfectly clean, but about building bridges. Through a moment of potential conflict, we had found both he (和) and you (友) — the very essence of cultural exchange. The brush felt lighter in my hand, its story now richer than ever.
