So the city began a project to improve the situation. Under the Velib project (‘Velib’ comes from velo liberty, or ‘bicycle freedom’) people can take a bicycle, use it for as long as they want, and then leave it at the same or another bicycle station. The first half-hour on the bike is free, but if you don’t return it after 30 minutes, you have to pay. But it’s only €1 a day or €29 a year! The bicycles are heavy (25kg), and they are all gray and have baskets. There are about 20, 000 of them in the city, and around 1, 450 bicycle stations. So there are a lot more Velib stations than the 298 subway stations! Paris is not the first city to have a project like this. But not everybody thinks it’s a great idea. One Parisian said, “These bicycles are only for short journeys. If people want to travel across the city, they won’t use a bicycle —they’ll still use their cars.” A city spokesman said, “The bicycle project won’t solve all our traffic problems, of course. But it might help reduce air pollution. Traffic, together with factory fumes, is a big problem. There aren’t any simple answers to traffic problems and pollution in cities. But unless we do something now, there will be more traffic jams and temperatures will continue to rise, so the problems in our environment will get worse. The bikes might help people to lead a healthier life, too.” 21.What can we learn about the Velib project? A.Its bikes have no baskets. B.Its bikes are light and colorful. C.It aims to make traveling easier. D.It owns more stations than the subway. 22.If you use a Velib for 1 hour, you should pay___________. A.Free. B.€1. C.€29. D.€30. 23.Why do some people disagree with the Velib project? A.The cost is rather high. B.It’s hard to find a Velib station. C.It’s not suitable for a long journey. D.The distance between two Velib stations is long. 24.What does the underlined word “fume” in the first paragraph mean? A.position. B.smoke. C.quality. D.loss. 25.What’s the city spokesman’s attitude towards the bicycle project? A.Worried. B.Positive. C.Uncaring. D.Doubtful. 根据文章第二段中“So there are a lot more Velib stations than the 298 subway stations (所以Velib车站比298个地铁站要多得多)”可知,Velib项目的自行车车站要比地铁站多得多。故选D。 22. 根据文章第二段中“The first half-hour on the bike is free, but if you don’t return it after 30 minutes, you have to pay. But it’s only €1 a day or €29 a year! (骑自行车的前半小时是免费的,但如果30分钟后不还,你就得付钱。但是每天只要1欧元,一年只要29欧元!)”可知,骑自行车一个小时,需要付费1欧元,因为半小时内是免费的,超过半小时需要付费。故选B。 23.细节理解题。根据文章第三段的“But not everybody thinks it’s a great idea. One Parisian said, “These bicycles are only for short journeys. If people want to travel across the city, they won’t use a bicycle - they’ll still use their cars.” (但并不是所有人都认为这是个好主意。一个巴黎人说:“这些自行车只用于短途旅行。如果人们想要穿越城市,他们不会使用自行车,他们仍然会使用汽车。”)”可知,不同意Velib项目的人是因为这些自行车仅仅适用于短期旅途,不适用长途旅行。故选C。 24.词句猜测题。由文章第一段中“Like all big cities, Paris has a traffic problem: lots of cars, lots of traffic jams and lots of pollution (像所有的大城市一样,巴黎也有交通问题:大量的汽车,大量的交通堵塞和大量的污染)”可知,这种污染来自于汽车的烟或废气,所以划线词的含义是“烟或废气”。A. position位置;B. smoke烟;C. quality质量;D. loss损失。故选B。 25. 根据文章最后一段最后一句话“The bikes might help people to lead a healthier life, too. (自行车也可能帮助人们过一种更健康的生活)”可知,spokesman对自行车的骑行的态度是积极的。故选B。 C In every gym class I’ve taken, I felt like the odd one out. Opening the door, I hesitantly asked, “Is this where the HIIT class is?” The high-intensity interval training (高强度间歇训练) instructor yelled, “Grab a dumbbell and yoga mat. We’re late for warm-up!” Breathing heavily on the mat, I wasn’t sure if I’d make it through the hour. Glancing around the room, I seemed to be the only one struggling. Everyone else, in their tightly fitted gym wear and not an inkling of sweat to be seen, looked as if they belonged. I, on the other hand, with my messy hair and oversized clothes, wondered why I had ever bothered coming. Earlier that year, I had decided to give fitness a real shot. All my life, exercise had been a foreign concept and in school, gym class was a place of guaranteed embarrassment and humiliation. I nervously showed up to my university gym for spin class (动感单车课程) on a Sunday morning. I had considered canceling multiple times, but I told myself that showing up was all that mattered. The instructor was incredibly kind. Within minutes of seeing my weak form, he knew I was new to the class. He walked us through all the various positions on the bike multiple times. The first time I tried to stand on the bike pedals, I felt my legs shake and immediately sat down. But with each class, my comfort on the bike grew and I became less focused on how I looked and more focused on looking inward. Whether I needed to think about something bugging me, dream about the future or just mindlessly pedal, spin class became my hour a week just for me. The more I spun, the more I realized how powerful my body was. For what felt like the first time, I was proud of my body’s capabilities. After nine months of spinning, I wanted to challenge myself again. And that’s how I found myself in the high-intensity class. If spin class got me used to moving my body, then HIIT class taught me that I have to continuously work to build my fitness and tackle my insecurities. In all, what truly matters is showing up, not what you wear or your fitness abilities. Because once you show up, the rest gets easier, one sweaty adventure at a time. 26.Why did the author feel like struggling in the HIIT class? A.She was late for the class. B.She seemed less prepared. C.She didn’t have friends there. D.She felt her leg shake. 27.What does the underlined phrase “give fitness a real shot” mean in paragraph 2? A.To try shooting in fitness class. B.To seriously attempt to improve fitness. C.To take a photo of fitness. D.To give up on fitness. 28.What can be inferred about the author’s experience in spin class over time? A.The author became more confident and comfortable. B.The author decided to quit after a few classes. C.The author felt more embarrassed than in HIIT class. D.The author never got used to the spin class. 29.What does the author consider as the key to improving one’s fitness? A.High-intensity training. B.Professional equipment. C.Consistent efforts. D.A tough instructor. 30.How might the author’s experience be applied to someone else starting a new fitness routine? A.By focusing on the type of clothing they wear. B.By comparing themselves to others in the. class. C.By understanding that presence is the most important step. D.By avoiding classes that make them feel uncomfortable. 根据第二段“Everyone else, in their tightly fitted gym wear and not an inkling of sweat to be seen, looked as if they belonged. I, on the other hand, with my messy hair and oversized clothes, wondered why I had ever bothered coming.(其他人都穿着紧身的运动服,一点汗珠也没有,看起来就像属于这里一样。而我,一头乱发,穿着超大号的衣服,不知道自己为什么要来。)”可知,作者觉得在HIIT课上很挣扎是因为她似乎准备不足。故选B。 27.词句猜测题。根据第二段“All my life, exercise had been a foreign concept and in school, gym class was a place of guaranteed embarrassment and humiliation.(在我的生活中,锻炼一直是一个陌生的概念,在学校,体育课是一个保证尴尬和羞辱的地方。)” To seriously attempt to improve fitness意思相近。故选B。 28. 根据第四段“But with each class, my comfort on the bike grew and I became less focused on how I looked and more focused on looking inward.(但每上一节课,我在自行车上的舒适度就提高了,我不再那么关注自己的外表,而是更关注自己的内心。)” 故选A。 29. 根据最后一段“In all, what truly matters is showing up, not what you wear or your fitness abilities. Because once you show up, the rest gets easier, one sweaty adventure at a time.(总之,真正重要的是参与,而不是你穿什么或你的健身能力。因为一旦你出现了,剩下的就容易多了,一次一次流汗的冒险。)”可知,作者认为提高身体素质的关键是持续的努力。故选C。 30.推理判断题。根据最后一段“In all, what truly matters is showing up, not what you wear or your fitness abilities. Because once you show up, the rest gets easier, one sweaty adventure at a time.(总之,真正重要的是参与,而不是你穿什么或你的健身能力。因为一旦你出现了,剩下的就容易多了,一次一次流汗的冒险。)”可知,作者的经验可以应用到其他人开始新的健身计划中,让他们明白最重要的是参与,而不是其他因素。故选C。 D When I was a child I was often told what not to eat. “You don’t want to get fat” was on constant repeat throughout my childhood. It really messed up my relationship with food — something that took me years to overcome. Because of this, I’m careful not to connect what my kids weigh with their worth as people. I encourage my daughter to make healthy snack choices and often dissuade (劝阻) her from a second dessert. But one day when I heard her saying “I think I’m too fat,” my heart sank. It made me wonder if giving her advice on snacks was having an unintentionally negative impact. According to Charlotte Markey, a professor of psychology, food is one of the rare subjects where, as parents, saying less is more. “There are so many things in parenting that are good to talk through, but I’m not convinced that food is one of them,” she says. “It just creates some worries and insecurities in kids that aren’t necessarily healthy.” Instead, she recommends applying a well-known concept among nutrition experts called the “Division of Responsibility,” where parents provide a variety of mostly healthy foods to their kids at fixed times, and the kids themselves decide what and how much they want to consume — even if that means occasionally eating more cookies than carrots. Allowing kids to eat what they want also exposes them to the natural consequences of their decisions. “When your child says, ‘My stomach hurts,’ you can say, ‘Well you had a lot of sugary foods and you might feel better if you made some other choices,’” says Markey. “Let them feel like they have some control over it.” I’ve been trying out these strategies and I’ve found that when I’m less restrictive, they do make better decisions. “Feeding is a long game,” says Markey. “The food you have available makes a huge difference. Even if they don’t eat it, they’re seeing it. And then all of a sudden it clicks.” 31.What can be inferred about the author from the first paragraph? A.She is upset by her kids’ weight. B.She is critical of the way she was fed. C.She is interested in making food. D.She is particular about what she eats. 32.Which of the following would Markey disapprove of? A.Allowing kids to eat cookies occasionally. B.Offering various foods to kids at fixed times. C.Explaining to kids the risks of taking snacks. D.Talking with kids about school at mealtimes. 33.What should kids do according to the “Division of Responsibility”? A.Make diet decisions on their own. B.Share their food with other kids. C.Eat up what is provided for them. D.Help their parents do the dishes. 34.Why does Markey emphasize that “feeding is a long game”? A.Kids need time to develop healthy eating habits independently. B.Parents should spend long hours preparing healthy food. C.It takes years to correct kids’ bad eating behaviors. D.The effect of food choices on health is not immediate. 35.What does the author think of the strategies she has been following? A.Costly. B.Complex. C.Workable. D.Contradictory. 31.B 32.C 33.A 34.A 35.C 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。 根据第一段中“When I was a child I was often told what not to eat. “You don’t want to get fat” was on constant repeat throughout my childhood. It really messed up my relationship with food — something that took me years to overcome.(当我还是个孩子的时候,我经常被告知什么不能吃。“你不想变胖”这句话在我整个童年时期不断重复。这件事严重破坏了我与食物之间的关系,而这种负面影响,我花了好几年才得以克服。)”可知,童年时被反复告知不该吃什么的经历破坏了作者与食物的关系,这段糟糕的经历让她在养育自己孩子时格外注意方式。由此可推断,作者对她小时候的喂养方式持批评态度。故选B。 32.推理判断题。根据第二段“According to Charlotte Markey, a professor of psychology, food is one of the rare subjects where, as parents, saying less is more. “There are so many things in parenting that are good to talk through, but I’m not convinced that food is one of them,” she says. “It just creates some worries and insecurities in kids that aren’t necessarily healthy.”(心理学教授Charlotte Markey表示,饮食是为数不多的、父母宜“少说为妙”的话题之一。她指出:“育儿过程中,有很多事都适合和孩子好好沟通,但我认为饮食不在此列。”“对饮食问题过多说教,只会给孩子带来不必要的忧虑和不安,不利于他们的身心健康。”)”可知,Markey认为父母不应该过多地和孩子谈论食物,因为这可能会给孩子带来不必要的担忧和不安。由此可推断,她会反对向孩子们解释吃零食的风险。故选C。 33.细节理解题。根据第三段“Instead, she recommends applying a well-known concept among nutrition experts called the “Division of Responsibility,” where parents provide a variety of mostly healthy foods to their kids at fixed times, and the kids themselves decide what and how much they want to consume — even if that means occasionally eating more cookies than carrots.(相反,她建议在营养专家中应用一个众所周知的概念,即“责任划分”,即父母在固定的时间给孩子们提供各种大多健康的食物,而孩子们自己决定他们想吃什么和吃多少——即使这意味着偶尔吃的饼干比胡萝卜多。)” 故选A。 34. 根据最后一段中““Feeding is a long game,” says Markey. “The food you have available makes a huge difference. Even if they don’t eat it, they’re seeing it. And then all of a sudden it clicks.”(“喂养是一场长期的游戏,”Markey说。“你提供的食物有很大的影响。即使他们不吃,他们也会看到。然后突然间,他们就明白了。”)”可知,Markey强调“喂养是一场长期的游戏”,是因为食物选择对健康的影响不是立竿见影的,孩子们需要时间来独立形成健康的饮食习惯。故选A。 35. 根据最后一段中“I’ve been trying out these strategies and I’ve found that when I’m less restrictive, they do make better decisions.(我一直在尝试这些策略,我发现当我限制较少时,他们确实会做出更好的决定。)” Bob was a bit of a couch potato, but he had a great sense of humor and loved to make his family and friends laugh. This activity can bring students a lot of benefits. Running in the cold weather, students will gradually learn to overcome difficulties with greater courage and stronger will. In addition, regular exercise can help strengthen the immune system and improve students’ physical fitness. Being more energetic after the 10 minutes’ running, students are able to study more efficiently and in class they are usually more attentive. However, for some students who are not strong enough, running in too cold weather may lead to some diseases. They are likely to catch a cold or even fever without wearing enough clothes. As far as I’m concerned, the advantages of running in winter outweigh its disadvantages. I think the winter running can build our bodies and help us get better prepared both physically and mentally to meet various challenges. 词汇积累 帮助:help→assist 提高:improve→promote 导致:lead to→result in 各种各样的:various→diverse 2. In addition, regular exercise can help strengthen the immune system and improve students’ physical fitness. In addition, regular exercise can help strengthen the immune system, improving students’ physical fitness. 【点睛】[高分句型1] However, for some students who are not strong enough, running in too cold weather may lead to some diseases.(who引导的限制性定语从句) [高分句型2] Running in the cold weather, students will gradually learn to overcome difficulties with greater courage and stronger will.(现在分词作状语) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 ( 1 )原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究! (共10小题,每小题1分,满分10分) 1.—Haven’t seen you for ages! B Like all big cities, Paris has a traffic problem: lots of cars, lots of traffic jams and lots of pollution from exhaust fumes. A.Worried. B.Positive. C.Uncaring. D.Doubtful. C In every gym class I’ve taken, I felt like the odd one out. D When I was a child I was often told what not to eat. Bob was a bit of a couch potato, but he had a great sense of humor and loved to make his family and friends laugh.
