Therefore, the organisers have done well to ensure there are changing rooms and showers available for all runners. racebest.com ● Winter Solstice Strider, 8 December Dig that head flashlight out of the messy drawer for this after-dark run or walk for a good cause. You have a 5K route, which winds through the forest at the St Ives Estate. The route is far from flat and will almost certainly be muddy in places, so make sure your batteries are well charged in case there are emergencies.sueryder.org ● The Christmas Charity Run, 21 December This event is run by a most environmentally conscious organiser in the country, and is therefore only open to local runners to reduce car travel. Another great feature is that £7.50 of the £10 entry fee goes straight to a local charity that supports people with cancer, making this one of the most positive-impact events that you could possibly find. eventrac.co.uk ● Mapledurham 10& Half, 29 December Mapledurham events are always well organised and, with unpleasant weather likely, you’ll have to deal with some mud on the various uphills and downhills on whichever of the 10K, 10-mile or half-marathon courses you choose. The organisers have prioritised finding a good route over precise measurements, so all three races have a rather loose relationship with their stated distance. mstevents.co.uk 16.Which website offers information for night run participants? A.sueryder. org B.racebest. com C.eventrac. co. uk D.mstevents. co. uk 17.What makes the Mapledurham events unique? A.Eco-friendly goals. B.Flexible race distances. C.Strong charity focus. D.Muddy running courses. 18.Which column of a magazine is the text probably from? A.Tech Trends. B.Athlete Profiles. C.News Insight. D.Race Guide. 19.What do we know about the four events? A.All of them charge an entry fee. B.Runners may meet muddy conditions in most of them. C.They all provide changing rooms and showers. D.Each event has several choices of race distance. 20.What is the main purpose of the text? A.To call on people to donate to cancer charities. B.To compare different outdoor sports in the UK. C.To introduce several winter running events for choice. D.To give advice on preparing for difficult running races. 根据● Winter Solstice Strider, 8 December部分“Dig that head flashlight out of the messy drawer for this after-dark run or walk for a good cause.(从凌乱的抽屉里找出那个头戴式手电筒,用于这次在夜幕降临后的跑步或步行活动,以支持一项有意义的事业。)”和sueryder.org可知,sueryder.org这个网站为夜间跑步参赛者提供相关信息。故选A。 17. 根据● Mapledurham 10& Half, 29 December部分“Mapledurham events are always well organised and, with unpleasant weather likely, you’ll have to deal with some mud on the various uphills and downhills on whichever of the 10K, 10-mile or half-marathon courses you choose.(Mapledurham举办的赛事向来组织有序,且考虑到天气可能不佳,无论你选择10公里、10英里还是半程马拉松赛程,在各种上坡和下坡路段,你都免不了要应对一些泥泞路况。)” 通读全文,尤其是第一段“The upcoming winter season offers a selection of the finest, quickest, toughest and most delightful running events across the UK for those seeking adventure or community spirit.(即将到来的冬季将为那些渴望冒险或追求团队精神的人们在英国各地带来一系列精彩、快速、最艰苦且令人愉悦的跑步赛事。)” 根据● Bah Humbug 10K, 1 December部分“Do yourself a favour and bring towels and plastic bags with you, because every bit of gear you wear during this event is likely to be caked with mud by the end.(帮自己一个忙吧,带上毛巾和塑料袋。因为在这次活动中你所穿戴的每一件装备最后都可能会沾满泥巴。)”,● Winter Solstice Strider, 8 December部分“The route is far from flat and will almost certainly be muddy in places, so make sure your batteries are well charged in case there are emergencies.(这条路线并不平坦,而且某些地方很可能会泥泞不堪,所以请确保你的电池电量充足,以防出现紧急情况。)”,● Mapledurham 10& Half, 29 December部分“Mapledurham events are always well organised and, with unpleasant weather likely, you’ll have to deal with some mud on the various uphills and downhills on whichever of the 10K, 10-mile or half-marathon courses you choose.(Mapledurham举办的赛事向来组织有序,且考虑到天气可能不佳,无论你选择10公里、10英里还是半程马拉松赛程,在各种上坡和下坡路段,你都免不了要应对一些泥泞路况。)” 通读全文,尤其是第一段“The upcoming winter season offers a selection of the finest, quickest, toughest and most delightful running events across the UK for those seeking adventure or community spirit.(即将到来的冬季将为那些渴望冒险或追求团队精神的人们在英国各地带来一系列精彩、快速、激烈且令人愉悦的跑步赛事。)” C。 B The wheelchair-bound young man, a patient of mine, was pushed to the lectern (演讲台) at the high school to deliver his commencement address. His face still partially paralyzed (瘫痪的), and he spoke in a soft voice. But Mark Orsini delivered a powerful speech and received a thunderous applause from his fellow students, who had wondered if he’d live to graduate. The 18-year-old had developed Guillain-Barre syndrome, which can cause paralysis. Soon he was almost completely paralyzed. His parents insisted that he was a fighter. He’d get through this and go on to attend Dartmouth. But meanwhile, immobile and on a ventilator (呼吸器), how was he going to ask questions or be involved in his class? The solution was remarkable: The Orsinis would sit at Mark’s side and recite the alphabet. When they got to a letter Mark needed to spell a word, he’d nod “yes”. They’d write it down, then start over and wait for him to nod again. They never lost patience and Mark was involved with every decision. Standard treatment hadn’t helped, so I suggested a risky procedure to filter (过滤) his blood. After treatment he showed improvement and soon he could move his toes, his legs and then his arms. Mark has graduated from Dartmouth. I saw him in my office some time ago, and he was feeling great. But there was a lot left unsaid. I wanted to say I was in awe of him, and that his parents were some of the most amazing people I’d ever met, sitting by his bed for hours, patiently listening to their child speak letter by letter. I wanted to tell him of my shame when my children tried to talk to me and I brushed them off because I didn’t have time to listen. I wanted to say I’d never forget him or his parents. But words failed me. 21.The underlined word “commencement” in Paragraph 1 means ________. A.graduation B.promise C.birthday D.acceptance 22.What did Mark’s parents do for him when he was learning in class? A.They did everything for Mark. B.They helped Mark in learning. C.They lost patience sometimes. D.They made decisions for him. 23.We can learn from the passage that ________. A.the standard treatment Mark received was a great success B.the doctor was not satisfied with Mark’s treatment and felt ashamed C.the doctor told Mark’s parents that they were impressive and unforgettable D.the doctor didn’t share more of his true feelings with Mark 24.In the last paragraph, how did the writer feel about the way he treated his children? A.He felt proud of it. B.He felt confident of it. C.He felt ashamed of it. D.He felt doubtful about it 25.What’s the relationship between the writer and Mark? A.Teacher and student. B.Parent and child. C.Doctor and patient. D.Friends. 根据画线词的上文“The wheelchair-bound young man, a patient of mine, was pushed to the lectern (演讲台) at the high school (那个坐轮椅的年轻人是我的病人,他被推到了高中的讲台上)”和下文“But Mark Orsini delivered a powerful speech and received a thunderous applause from his fellow students, who had wondered if he’d live to graduate. (但Mark Orsini发表了一篇有力的演讲,并赢得了同学们雷鸣般的掌声,他们曾怀疑他是否能活到毕业。)”可推知,Mark是被推到高中的讲台上发表毕业演讲,赢得曾怀疑他无法活到毕业的同学的掌声,画线词意思应该是“毕业”,与graduation意思一致。故选A项。 22. 根据第四段中“The Orsinis would sit at Mark’s side and recite the alphabet. When they got to a letter Mark needed to spell a word, he’d nod “yes”. They’d write it down, then start over and wait for him to nod again. (Orsinis夫妇会坐在Mark身边背诵字母表。当他们提到Mark需要拼一个单词的字母时,他会点头说“是”。他们会记下来,然后重新开始,等他再次点头。)”可知,当Mark在课堂上学习时,他的父母耐心地帮助他学习。故选B项。 23.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“But there was a lot left unsaid. 根据最后一段中“I wanted to tell him of my shame when my children tried to talk to me and I brushed them off because I didn’t have time to listen. (我想告诉他,当我的孩子们试图和我说话,但我没有时间听他们说话时,我感到羞愧。)”可知,作者对自己的孩子没有耐心,对此他感到羞愧。故选C项。 25.细节理解题。根据第一段中“The wheelchair-bound young man, a patient of mine, was pushed to the lectern (演讲台) at the high school (那个坐轮椅的年轻人是我的病人,他被推到了高中的讲台上)”可知,Mark是作者的病人,两人之间是病患关系。故选C项。 C People with high levels of niacin, also known as vitamin B3; in their blood may be more likely to have a heart attack or stroke than those with lower levels. Excessive (过量的) amounts of the vitamin, which is routinely added to fortified food (强化食品) and can be taken as a supplement (补充物), may inflame (使发炎) blood vessels. Heart attacks and stroke (中风) are leading causes of death worldwide. While researchers have made significant progress over the past few decades in discovering the risk factors for these conditions, they haven't identified them all. In an effort to fill these gaps, Stanley Hazen at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and his colleagues collected blood samples (样本) from 2331 adults in the US and 832 adults in Europe who had elected to undergo cardiovascular screenings (心血管筛查). The team analyzed the samples for substances called metabolites (代谢物), byproducts of metabolic processes such as digestion (消化). The researchers then tracked incidents of cardiac(心脏的) events, such as heart attacks and strokes, among the participants over three years. They found that people with higher levels of a metabolite called 4PY, which only arises when the body breaks down excess niacin, were around 60 percent more likely, on average, to experience such an event than those with lower levels. And it was found in further experiment that 4PY causes blood vessel inflammation, a major contributor to the development of heart disease, in rodents. It isn’t uncommon for people to have high niacin levels, Hazen says. This is partially due to certain foods, such as cereals and flours, being routinely fortified with the vitamin in countries that include the UK and the US. Niacin supplements are also increasingly popular as evidence suggests they have anti-ageing benefits, says Hazen. Plus, it wasn’t until recently that doctors stopped prescribing (开处方) high-dose niacin to people at risk of cardiovascular disease, as it was initially thought the vitamin protected people from these conditions by lowering cholesterol. “I think this study really shows that sometimes, when it comes to vitamins, you can have too much of a good thing,” says Jenny Jia at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. However, this research was mainly conducted in people of European ancestry. It is therefore unclear if similar results would occur in people of different racial or ethnic backgrounds, says Jia. 26.What is presented in paragraph 3? A.Practical examples. B.Historical findings. C.Theoretical models. D.Research procedures. 27.What does the underlined phrase “such an event” in paragraph 4 refer to? A.Increased 4PY. B.Extra niacin. C.Blood vessel inflammation. D.Cardiovascular diseases. 28.What might NOT be the reason for people to have high niacin levels? A.Niacin was prescribed to people. B.Certain vitamins are added to foods. C.Food with niacin can rapid aging. D.Having niacin supplement is fashionable. 29.What attitude might Jia have to the study? A.Unclear. B.Doubtful. C.Objective. D.Supportive. 30.In which column can we probably find this passage in a magazine? A.Health. B.Politics. C.Advertisement. D.Entertainment. 根据第三段“In an effort to fill these gaps, Stanley Hazen at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and his colleagues collected blood samples from 2331 adults in the US and 832 adults in Europe who had elected to undergo cardiovascular screenings. The team analyzed the samples for substances called metabolites, byproducts of metabolic processes such as digestion. The researchers then tracked incidents of cardiac events, such as heart attacks and strokes, among the participants over three years. 根据第四段“They found that people with higher levels of a metabolite called 4PY, which only arises when the body breaks down excess niacin, were around 60 percent more likely, on average, to experience such an event than those with lower levels. (他们发现,体内一种名为4PY的代谢物水平较高的人群,平均而言,经历此类事件的可能性比水平较低的人群高出约60%。4PY这种代谢物仅在身体分解过量烟酸时才会产生。)”及第三段“The researchers then tracked incidents of cardiac events, such as heart attacks and strokes, among the participants over three years. (随后,研究人员在三年间跟踪了参与者心脏病事件的发生情况,如心脏病发作和中风。)”可知,这里的“such an event”指的是前文提到的心脏病事件,如心脏病发作和中风,故选D。 28.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“This is partially due to certain foods, such as cereals and flours, being routinely fortified with the vitamin in countries that include the UK and the US. Niacin supplements are also increasingly popular as evidence suggests they have anti-ageing benefits, says Hazen. (这种情况部分是由于在包括英国和美国在内的一些国家,某些食物(如谷物和面粉)通常会添加这种维生素。哈森还提到,随着证据表明烟酸具有抗衰老益处,烟酸补充剂也越来越受欢迎。)”以及“it wasn’t until recently that doctors stopped prescribing high-dose niacin to people at risk of cardiovascular disease (直到最近,医生才停止为心血管疾病高危人群开具大剂量烟酸的处方。)” 而“Food with niacin can rapid aging (含有烟酸的食物会导致快速老化)”与文中提到的“evidence suggests they have anti-ageing benefits (有证据表明它们具有抗衰老益处)”相矛盾,故选C。 29. 根据最后一段““I think this study really shows that sometimes, when it comes to vitamins, you can have too much of a good thing, ” says Jenny Jia at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. However, this research was mainly conducted in people of European ancestry. It is therefore unclear if similar results would occur in people of different racial or ethnic backgrounds, says Jia (“我认为这项研究真正表明,有时在维生素方面,过犹不及。” 根据文章第一句“People with high levels of niacin, also known as vitamin B3; in their blood may be more likely to have a heart attack or stroke than those with lower levels. (血液中烟酸(也称为维生素B3)水平较高的人,可能比水平较低的人更容易患心脏病或中风。)”及本文可知,文章主要讨论了维生素B3与心脏病、中风风险之间的关系,属于健康领域的研究,因此最有可能在杂志的健康栏目中找到,故选A。 D From social relationships to work challenges, Chinese people are turning to DeepSeek to solve different personal issues. They describe sharing their thoughts and receiving helpful feedback from the popular chatbot. As a rising trend on social media, AI therapy (疗法) is changing the way people seek mental health support. But can AI truly replace a human therapist? Globally, 45 percent of people who needed mental health care in 2024 did not receive it, with barriers including cost and a lack of providers, according to Huntington Psychological Services. Daniel Lowd, an associate professor at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help solve the lack of therapy services. “If people can find some support and opinions by talking to DeepSeek, then I think that’s wonderful,” Lowd told Newsweek. Li Yong, a doctor at the Jiangsu Province Hospital, agreed with Lowd, saying that AI meets people’s needs for emotional support to some extent. By using basic knowledge of psychotherapy, DeepSeek can help with minor mental issues through comforting responses, Li told Shanghai observer. However, he points out that AI cannot completely replace professionals due to the human touch that is important for therapeutic services. Therapists develop a deeper understanding of people’s emotions and needs through communication, which allows them to offer more personalized treatment plans, Shanghai Observer reported. The use of AI in psychotherapy also raises concerns over the reliability (可靠性) of responses. “AI chatbots will respond as therapists if asked, without any of the oversight (监督), training or responsibility of a human counselor (顾问) or even a professional and tested piece of software,” Richard Lachman, an associate professor at Toronto Metropolitan University, told Newsweek. Experts believe the key to effective AI therapy lies in proper government regulation. Wysa, for example, is a mental health app that offers therapeutic conversations with an AI chatbot. In 2022, it worked with the UK’s National Health Service, following a list of strict standards. As AI becomes more a part of our lives, understanding its effects on human psychology means finding a balance between what’s helpful and what’s dangerous, Euro News reported. 31.What is Daniel Lowd’s attitude toward AI therapy? A.Positive. B.Doubtful. C.Concerned. D.Uncertain. 32.Why does Li Yong believe AI can’t fully replace human therapists? A.AI is unreliable. B.AI lacks emotional depth. C.AI is unable to take responsibility. D.AI knows little about psychotherapy. 33.What worries Richard Lachman about AI chatbots in psychotherapy? A.AI chatbots are too hard for patients to use. B.AI chatbots can’t answer patients’ questions. C.AI chatbots don’t have proper oversight or training. D.AI chatbots are not professional and tested piece of softwares. 34.What do experts suggest to make AI therapy effective? A.Asking health services to work with the UK’s National Health Service. B.Letting AI mental health tools follow strict standards like Wysa. C.Stopping the use of AI in mental health care completely. D.Having proper government regulation on AI therapy. 35.What is this passage mainly about? A.AI therapy is not useful for people who need mental health care. B.All experts think AI offers good emotional support for mental health issues. C.DeepSeek is a popular way for Chinese people to solve personal mental issues. D.AI therapy can help with mental health, but it can’t take the place of a real person. 根据第二段“Daniel Lowd, an associate professor at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help solve the lack of therapy services. “If people can find some support and opinions by talking to DeepSeek, then I think that’s wonderful,” Lowd told Newsweek.(俄勒冈大学副教授Daniel Lowd认为,人工智能可以帮助解决治疗服务缺乏的问题。Lowd在接受《新闻周刊》采访时表示:“如果人们能通过与DeepSeek交谈找到一些支持和意见,那就太棒了。”)”可知,Daniel Lowd认为AI有助于解决治疗服务短缺问题,人们能通过与DeepSeek交流获得支持和意见是很棒的,这表明他对AI疗法持积极态度。故选A。 32. 根据第四段“However, he points out that AI cannot completely replace professionals due to the human touch that is important for therapeutic services. Therapists develop a deeper understanding of people’s emotions and needs through communication, which allows them to offer more personalized treatment plans, Shanghai observer reported.(然而,他指出,人工智能不能完全取代专业人员,因为人性化对治疗服务很重要。据《上海观察报》报道,治疗师通过交流更深入地了解人们的情绪和需求,这使他们能够提供更个性化的治疗方案。)”可知, Li Yong指出AI不能完全取代专业人士是因为治疗服务中人际关怀很重要,治疗师通过交流能更深入理解人们的情感和需求,即AI缺乏情感深度。故选B。 33.推理判断题。根据第五段““AI chatbots will respond as therapists if asked, without any of the oversight (监督), training or responsibility of a human counselor (顾问) or even a professional and tested piece of software,” Richard Lachman, an associate professor at Toront Metropolitan University, told Newsweek.(多伦多城市大学副教授Richard Lachman在接受《新闻周刊》采访时表示:“人工智能聊天机器人若接到相关请求,会以治疗师的身份回应,但它们既没有人类心理咨询师应有的监督、培训与责任意识,甚至也不具备经过专业验证的软件所应有的资质。”)” 根据最后一段“Experts believe the key to effective AI therapy lies in proper government regulation.(专家认为,有效的人工智能治疗的关键在于适当的政府监管。)” 根据第一段“As a rising trend on social media, AI therapy (疗法) is changing the way people seek mental health support. Jeff Jensen was suffering from painful nerve damage in his leg and foot. He needed surgery, but he doubted if he could 36 it, even with insurance. “There’s nothing more 37 than seeing a bill for 18, 20, 24,000 dollars and going,” said Jensen. Luckily for Jensen, his doctor is Demetrio Aguila. The nerve specialist gives patients at his Healing Hands of Nebraska in Papillion the 38 to pay for surgery through community service instead of money. He calls it M25 Program. At the heart of his vision was the simple 39 of people helping people. Using an algorithm (算法) , the clinic calculates community service hours based on the price of the surgery. In Jensen’s case, the $12,000 operation equaled 560 hours of 40 at one of the local charitable organizations registered with the M25 Program. Jensen opted for the community service. Since hundreds of hours of community service would be 41 , Aguila encouraged others to help, and he 42 involved himself in it. “I had this hope that we would rekindle (重新激起) the enthusiasm for 43 in our neighbors and in ourselves,” he told CNN. Jensen, whose surgery was completed in February 2020, was helped by more than 100 friends and strangers who freely offered to help at Orphan Grain Train, which donates food, clothing, and medicine nationally and globally. “We can’t 44 the people in our own backyard,” said Aguila. “And we want to help more people like Jensen who have lost hope medically. The coffee dose(一剂) was shown to increase maximal fat oxidation rate (a measure of how 51 (efficient) the body burns off fat) 52 an average of 10.7% in the morning and 29% in the afternoon. “Overall, these results suggest that a 53 (combine) of acute caffeine intake 54 exercise at moderate intensity in the afternoon 55 (provide) the best scenario(方案) for individuals seeking to increase whole-body fat oxidation during aerobic exercise,” the researchers conclude. 【答案】 46.to maximize 47.think 48.it 49.a 50.based 51.efficiently 52.by 53.combination 54.and 55.provides 【分析】本文是说明文,介绍了锻炼前半小时喝杯咖啡可以极大提升锻炼中燃烧脂肪率这一现象。 46.考查非谓语动词与固定短语。句意:如果你想在下一次锻炼中最大限度地燃烧脂肪,可以考虑在开始锻炼前半小时喝杯咖啡。be looking to do...为固定短语,表示“正打算/期待做……”。故填to maximize。 47. 故填it。 49.考查冠词与固定短语。句意:如果你想在下次锻炼中最大限度地燃烧脂肪,可以考虑在开始锻炼前半小时喝杯咖啡——一项新的研究表明,咖啡对燃烧脂肪有显著的作用,尤其是在一天的晚些时候。make a difference为固定短语,表示“有作用/关系/影响”。故填a。 50.考查非谓语动词。句意:以15名男性志愿者身上收集的数据为基础,研究人员发现在有氧运动中,每千克体重摄入3毫克咖啡因可以加快脂肪燃烧速度。分析句子可知,base...on... (把…建立在…基础上)在句中作非谓语动词,主句中的研究发现是被建立在“results gathered from 15 male volunteers.”之上的,所以应用过去分词,表示“被动”。故填based。 51.考查副词。句意:研究显示,咖啡能使最大脂肪氧化率(衡量身体燃烧脂肪效率的指标)在上午平均提高10.7%,下午提高29%。efficient修饰动词短语burns off,应用副词形式。故填efficiently。 52.考查介词与固定搭配。句意:研究显示,咖啡能使最大脂肪氧化率(衡量身体燃烧脂肪效率的指标)在上午平均提高10.7%,下午提高29%。increase...by...为固定短语,表示“使…增长/增加…”。故填by。 53. 结合句意,分析句子可知,acute caffeine intake和exercise at moderate intensity是并列关系,与介词of构成介词短语作后置定语,修饰名词a combination,构成搭配“a combination of...and...”。故填and。 55. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【范文】 I am strongly in favour of online fitness. From my perspective, it is an efficient way to stay fit. Online fitness makes it convenient for us to work out anytime and anywhere as it allows us to arrange schedule flexibly. It also offers a wide variety of workouts for people with different fitness needs. Moreover, the online platform makes it easy for fitness lovers to get engaged and encouraged. This approach greatly arouses our interest and motivation and helps us to lead an active lifestyle. In conclusion, online fitness is an advisable option.Version 2: I am not convinced that online fitness is a good choice for people who seek effective workout. The main disadvantage lies in the lack of in-person guidance as online fitness relies on video or live-streaming instructions. Also the limitation of equipment is a challenge for home exercisers who desire the same training effects as the instructors on line. To make things worse, possible technical problems will affect the flow of work out, which spoils the fun and damages peoples enthusiasm. Therefore, I would go to the gym for exercise. 【导语】本篇书面表达属于开放性作文。要求考生就班级举办的“如何看待线上健身”这一话题的辩论会写一篇短文来阐明自己的观点。 【详解】1. 词汇积累 就我而言:from my perspective→in my opinion 各种各样的:a wide variety of→all kinds of 此外:Moreover→What’s more 选择:option→choice 2. 句式拓展 简单句变复合句 原句:Moreover, the online platform makes it easy for fitness lovers to get engaged and encouraged. 拓展句:Moreover, the online platform makes it easy for fitness lovers to get engaged and encouraged, which greatly arouses our passion. 【点睛】【高分句型1】Online fitness makes it convenient for us to work out anytime and anywhere as it allows us to arrange schedule flexibly. B The wheelchair-bound young man, a patient of mine, was pushed to the lectern (演讲台) at the high school to deliver his commencement address. D.Friends. C People with high levels of niacin, also known as vitamin B3; in their blood may be more likely to have a heart attack or stroke than those with lower levels. D From social relationships to work challenges, Chinese people are turning to DeepSeek to solve different personal issues. 三、完形填空(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分) 阅读下列短文,从短文后各题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Jeff Jensen was suffering from painful nerve damage in his leg and foot.
