Now the Internet makes our life easier and more colourful. We can study, shop and have fun online. One popular online activity is taking virtual tours.
Many schools use virtual tours to help students learn. Teachers can show students different places around China during class. Students do not need to take buses or trains. They can “visit” many places in a short time.
Virtual tours are also good for people who cannot travel far. Some old or sick people cannot go out easily. With virtual tours, they can still enjoy beautiful mountains, rivers and old cities. They can learn about different cultures and feel relaxed.
When you take a virtual tour, you can stop and look at something carefully. You can read stories about the places and learn more facts. You can also share what you see with your family and friends online.

When I was in Grade 7, I learnt about the Louvre Museum in my art lesson. Our teacher showed us a photo of the Mona Lisa, and told us a lot of stories about the famous museum in Paris. I was very interested in it, but I never thought I could visit it one day, because my family could not afford a trip to France.
Last year, our art teacher told us that the Louvre Museum had a free online tour on its official website. I was so excited that I ran home after school and turned on my computer right away. I found the online tour page easily, and started my amazing trip.
The online tour was perfect. I could “walk” through every hall of the museum freely, just like I was there in person. I could zoom in on every painting and sculpture to see the smallest details, which I could never do in a real museum with crowds of people. There were also clear English introductions for every artwork, so I could learn about the history and stories behind them. I spent over 3 hours in the online tour, and I even forgot to have dinner.
I saw the Mona Lisa, of course. Through the screen, I could see the smile on her face clearly. I also saw the famous sculpture Venus de Milo, and many other great works of art. I took a lot of screenshots of my favourite artworks, and put them in my art notebook.
That online tour not only let me see the amazing artworks in the Louvre, but also opened a new world for me. I learnt that the Internet can help us achieve our dreams, even if we can not travel far away. Now, I often take online tours of different museums around the world in my free time. Every online tour is a new adventure, and I can always learn something new.

2.What did the writer do during her online tour of the Louvre?
A.She talked with the tour guide in Paris through live video.
B.She took a lot of photos of the museum with her camera.
C.She zoomed in on the artworks to see the details clearly.
D.She bought some artworks from the museum’s online shop.
3.What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean?
A.The online tour made the writer realize the internet can help make dreams come true.
B.The writer has decided to travel to France to visit the Louvre in person.
C.The writer only learnt about art from the online tour.
D.The online tour was not as good as the real trip to the museum.
4.What can we learn from the writer’s story?
A.Online tours are always better than on-site trips.
B.We can learn new things and achieve dreams through the internet.
C.It is impossible to learn about art through a computer screen.
D.Only rich people can visit famous museums around the world.

In the spring of 1636, 51-year-old Xu Xiake started his longest and final journey. He planned to travel to the southwestern part of China, a place with high mountains, deep rivers and wild forests that few people had explored at that time.
_________. He walked most of the way, carrying only a small bag with his books, a pen, an ink stone and a few clothes. He travelled through dangerous mountains, crossed fast-running rivers, and walked through thick forests where there were wild tigers and wolves. Many times, he got lost in the mountains, or fell into rivers, or ran out of food. But he never gave up. He always said that the most beautiful views are always in the most dangerous places.
During his journey, Xu Xiake did not just enjoy the natural views. He carefully studied the geography of the places he visited. He found out how the rivers and caves were formed, and he corrected many mistakes in the old geography books. He wrote down everything he saw and heard in his diary every day, even if he was tired or hurt. He described the mountains, rivers, plants, animals, and the local people’s traditions and customs in detail.
After four years of travelling, Xu Xiake finally finished his journey in 1640. He was badly ill after the long trip, and he went back to his hometown. Before he died in 1641, he gave all his diaries to his friend. Later, his friend put the diaries together into a book: Travel Notes of Xu Xiake.

In 1674, I was born on my father’s small farm in Nottinghamshire, England. I was the third of five sons. My childhood was very happy. I liked going to school and learning new things. But I used to daydream about going to sea.
One day, Father asked, “Lemuel, have you thought about your future? I think you would be a good doctor.”
I wanted to please him, so I said, “Yes, Father. I’ll go to Cambridge University and study medicine.” But as I spoke I was thinking, “At university I can also learn things that will be useful to a sailor.”
After several years of study, I became a doctor. Not long after that, I asked my sweetheart, Mary, to marry me. Before long, we had children, a boy and a girl. They gave us great joy. I enjoyed being a doctor for the first few years. But then I became bored, and ideas of travel filled my mind. I imagined going to far-off places and seeing wonderful new things.
“Mary,” I said one day, “I need more adventure in my life. The captain of a ship about to sail has offered me a job as the ship's doctor. I don’t know how long the journey will take, but I promise I will return. And when I do, I’ll tell you and the children all about my adventures.”
So in 1699, I set sail on the Antelope from Bristol. That city is a large and very old port (港口城市) in the southwest of England. The captain was a good man and had sailed a great deal!
“Welcome aboard, Doctor Gulliver,” he said. “First we’ll be sailing down the Atlantic Ocean and around the coast of Africa. Then we’ll sail through the Indian Ocean to the South Seas.” Our journey went well until one morning, somewhere near Tasmania in the South Pacific Ocean.
“I don’t like the look of those clouds,” the captain said. “I think a storm is coming.”
Within an hour, a big storm began. The sea rose in great, angry waves much taller than the Antelope. The wind, now as strong as a hurricane, made a terrible sound.
“The wind is blowing the ship off course!” shouted the captain. “Look out!”

Online travel, also known as virtual travel, has developed rapidly around the world in recent years. With the help of 3D technology, VR and live streaming, people can now “visit” places of interest, museums and natural wonders from all over the world, just by using a phone or a computer.
For many cultural sites, online travel is not just a new way for people to visit them, but also an important way to protect them. Many ancient sites, such as the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang and Machu Picchu in Peru, are easily damaged by too many visitors. The CO2 from visitors’ breath, the touch of hands and even the light from cameras can hurt the ancient paintings and buildings. Online travel solves this problem perfectly. It allows people to see the sites clearly without entering them, which greatly reduces the number of on-site visitors and protects the cultural relics.
What’s more, online travel makes cultural sites available to more people. For the disabled, the elderly or people who don’t have enough money to travel, online travel gives them the chance to see the world. It also helps spread local culture to every corner of the world. A small village with beautiful scenery or special traditions can be known by millions of people through an online tour, which can also help develop the local tourism.
Now, more and more museums and scenic spots are developing their own online tour services. Online travel has become an important part of the tourism industry, and it will continue to bring new surprises to people in the future.

2.What does the underlined word “damaged” in Paragraph 2 probably mean in Chinese?

Many tourism platforms (平台) in China have used AI technologies, while some provinces and cities have designed their own AI tourism service (服务) platforms with special features. On some popular tourism platforms, tourists can give simple instructions, such as asking about must-visit attractions for a three-day trip to Shanghai. AI usually gives helpful answers within minutes.
Mr Liang, CEO of a travel company, said, “AI solves 80% of users’ questions in minutes, cutting trip-planning time from 9 hours to 6.6 hours.”
Guizhou and Shanghai have introduced AI assistants (助手) for travellers. Guizhou’s “Huang Xiao Xi”, a digital guide in traditional clothing, creates travel plans in just a few seconds. “Hu Xiao You”, a smart tourism system used in Shanghai, provides real-time updates (更新) on traffic at tourist sites, public transport, nearby shops, and even toilet locations.
Museums are also using AI. Wearable smart guides provide guiding tours at a lower cost than human guides. They also allow visitors to change the speed of introductions according to their own choice, With new tools like virtual reality (VR,虚拟现实), augmented reality (AR,增强现实), and three-D technology, users can “talk” to historical figures (人物), “communicate” with cultural relics, and watch ancient paintings come to life. These high-tech methods break down the distance between visitors and cultural heritage (遗产), making ancient history easier to understand and remember.
Gan Chunhui, a researcher in Shanghai, believes AI brings new ways of working in tourism. “Instead of taking the place of traditional jobs, China makes use of technology to breathe new life into these roles,” Gan said. “For tourists, this means more personalized and convenient trips that deepen their understanding of Chinese culture. For local communities, AI helps keep valuable heritage alive without changing the natural beauty of historical sites,”
1.What can AI tourism platforms mainly do according to Paragraph 1?
A.Deal with hotel booking services. B.Provide travel suggestions.
C.Set up free travel platforms. D.Answer questions from foreigners.
2.How does Paragraph 3 support its main idea?
A.By giving examples of AI tools. B.By showing different opinions.
C.By discussing difficulties we meet. D.By discussing tourism in different times.
3.What can be inferred (推断) about AI in museums from the article?
A.It makes visiting more expensive. B.It works faster than human guides.
C.It provides lively visiting experiences. D.It shows more pictures than real objects.
4.What is Gan Chunhui’s opinion about AI in tourism?
A.AI will finally take the place of traditional jobs. B.AI is not helpful for protecting cultural heritage.
C.The tourism industry depends too much on AI technology. D.AI brings positive effects to both tourists and local communities.
5.What would be the best title for this passage?
A.AI Makes Tourism Smarter in China B.The Rise of Online Travel Companies
C.Planning a Perfect Trip to Shanghai D.Why Traditional Tourism Is Dying
【答案】1.B 2.A 3.C 4.D 5.A

The ancient Silk Road was a once-in-a-lifetime journey. It was one of the most important milestones (里程碑) of trade and culture in world history, and the pioneer, Zhang Qian, could not be easily forgotten by history. He was a great diplomat (外交官), traveller and explorer in the Han Dynasty of China, remembered as “the first Chinese to open his eyes to see the world”.
In 138 B.C., Zhang Qian was sent to the west of China for an alliance with the Yuezhi people to fight against the Xiongnu. He started his trip from Chang’an to Longxi. But unluckily, Zhang was caught by the Xiongnu people just as he left Han, and was held prisoner (囚犯) for ten years.
Zhang finally managed to run away with some of his men and continued to travel west. When Zhang at last reached the Yuezhi, he was sad to find that they didn’t want to fight against the Xiongnu people. On the return journey, Zhang Qian and his men were caught again. It was not until 126 B.C. that they returned to Chang’an.
Though Zhang hadn’t finished his task, he brought back first-hand information about Central Asia. The paths Zhang Qian explored later served as the highways connecting Europe, the Middle East, Mesopotamia, Central Asia, and East Asia. Commodities (商品) have been transported along this network of highways, which has been known as the “Silk Road” since the 19th century. 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,讲述了汉代外交家、探险家张骞出使西域、开辟丝绸之路的历史事迹,突出了他坚韧不拔的精神及其对东西方文化交流的深远影响。
1.第二段指出出使任务:“In 138 B.C., Zhang Qian was sent to the west of China for an alliance with the Yuezhi people to fight against the Xiongnu.”,这里说明张骞被派往中国西部与月氏人结成“alliance”来对抗匈奴,由此可推测“alliance”意思是共同合作的协议,即“An agreement to work together”。
2.第四段“The paths Zhang Qian explored later served as the highways... Zhang Qian has been remembered as the great explorer that opened up a new era of cultural exchange between the East and the West.”
The sun was setting behind the hills when Sun Shaoping got off the bus. He stood at the entrance of his village, unable to believe his eyes. It had been 5 years since he left his hometown to work in the city.
The last time he came back, the road into the village was narrow and muddy. His shoes were covered with mud after just a few steps. But now, a wide paved road stretched from the main road all the way to the centre of the village. On both sides of the road, there were tall poplar trees, and street lamps stood every 100 metres.
______ He remembered that most families lived in cave houses dug into the hills. Some of the houses were so old that they leaked when it rained. But now, rows of new houses with red roofs and white walls had been built along the road. Many houses had solar water heaters on the roofs, and some even had small gardens in front of the doors.
As he walked into the village, he saw a big square in the centre. There was a basketball court, a fitness area and a small library. Some young men were playing basketball, and a group of elderly people were playing chess under a big tree. He met an old man who was his primary school teacher. The teacher told him that the village had built a new primary school, and all the children could go to school for free.
The teacher also told him that the village had set up a farmers’ cooperative. They grew apples on the hills, and sold them to big cities through the internet. Many young people who used to work in the city had come back to start their own businesses.
Shaoping walked around the village until it got dark. He looked at the bright street lamps and the warm lights from the houses. He had always thought that the city was the only place to have a good life. But now he realized that his hometown was also full of hope and chances.

【答案】1.A 2.B 3.B 4.C
【导语】本文主要介绍了孙少平时隔5年后回到家乡,看到了村庄发生的翻天覆地的变化。
1.第一段“Sun Shaoping got off the bus. He stood at the entrance of his village”对应了②讲述的事件,以此可以排除选项C和D,第二段关键信息“the road … was narrow and muddy. … But now, a wide paved road …”对应④讲述的事件,第四段“As he walked into the village, he saw a big square in the centre. …”和“The teacher told him that the village had built a new primary school,”对应了①讲述的事件,第五段“The teacher also told him that the village had set up a farmers’ cooperative.”
3. 第五段“The teacher also told him … set up a farmers’ cooperative. They grew apples on the hills, and sold them to big cities through the internet.”

In today’s world, airplanes are becoming more and more popular as a way to travel long distances. People like to fly because it is fast, safe, and comfortable. If everyone drove cars for long trips, the roads would be too crowded. But airplanes can fly high in the sky and avoid all the traffic problems on the ground.
Chinese people often choose to fly from Beijing to Shanghai. Every day, there are about 30 flights leaving Beijing. The plane flies very fast and can get to Shanghai in just two hours. This is much quicker than taking a train or driving a car. Cars have to follow rules like speed limits and often get stuck (被困住) in traffic jams (交通拥塞), but airplanes do not have these problems.
Flying is also very safe. Before a plane is allowed (被允许) to carry passengers, it has to pass many safety tests. These tests make sure that every part of the plane works well and is safe to use. This helps to keep accidents from happening and makes people feel safe when they fly.
Airplanes are designed (被设计) to be comfortable for passengers. They have soft seats with lots of space to sit. There are also screens for watching movies or listening to music. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is one of the most loved children’s books of all time, and many adults enjoy it as well. It tells the story of a young girl named Alice, who follows a rabbit entering a magical world called Wonderland: she has many experiences which seem to change the rules of reasoning or common sense. The popularity of the book comes from its imagination, interesting story, and art work.
The writer of the book is Lewis Carroll. In fact, Lewis Carroll was not the writer’s real name. His real name was Charles Dodgson. One day, he took a boat ride down the Thames River to have a picnic with three little girls who were friends of the family. To keep them entertained on the ride, he told them a story in which Alice, the middle child, was the main character. They enjoyed the story very much.
Charles later wrote the story down under the name Alice’s Adventures Under Ground and gave it to Alice as a Christmas present. Later, he gave a copy to his friend George MacDonald. George read it to his children and they loved it. George suggested to Charles that he make a book from his story. Charles then wrote more parts to the story until it was around 35,000 words. It was first printed in 1866, with art work by John Tenniel, under the name Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The book was an immediate success.
One of its first fans was Queen Victoria. She immediately requested (要求) a collection of all of Lewis Carroll’s works. She was surprised to find that they included many works on math. In fact, Charles Dodgson was a highly respected mathematician (数学家). This can be seen in many puzzles and plays on reasoning that appear in his books and poems.
Since the story was first printed, it has kept selling up to the present day. It has been translated into over fifty languages and has had several movies based on it. The story is even mentioned in the popular 1999 film The Matrix by the character Morpheus.

The sun was setting behind the hills when Sun Shaoping got off the bus. He stood at the entrance of his village, unable to believe his eyes. It had been 5 years since he left his hometown to work in the city.
The last time he came back, the road into the village was narrow and muddy. His shoes were covered with mud after just a few steps. Villages in China have enjoyed their development in a digital (数字的) way in recent years. With the help of digital technology, villagers are living an easier and happier life.
Farming in the past was not an easy job. Farmers worked hard all year round. At the same time, they usually found it difficult to solve problems like plant diseases and pests (害虫). Now, there have been big changes in farming. For example, in Dayi County, Sichuan Province, AI machines help local farmers know when and how to fertilize (施肥于) fields and kill pests. In this way, they make farmers work more easily with less time and energy.
Thanks to the Internet, a new business called rural e-commerce (乡村电子商务) grows. Selling fresh fruit and vegetables to cities is faster. The business also helps villagers live a digital life. They can get many things done on different kinds of apps. They can also use drones to help with their farm work.
More visitors travel in beautiful villages because of digital technology. A good example is Huacheng Town, Guangdong Province. Do you like traveling? Are you a helpful person? Have you ever heard of volunteer travel? During the trip, volunteer travelers often provide services like teaching, cooking, animal caring, and cultural activities. By doing these, they get meals, drinks or something else for free or at a lower price.
