Passage 1
In China, there is an exciting race between robots and people. For the first time, robots join a half-marathon (半程马拉松), which is 21 kilometers long. More than 20 robots run with 12,000 runners, making the marathon very special. This race is not only about running but also a big test for China’s robot technology.
Six robots finish the 21-kilometer race. Tiangong Ultra, a robot that is 1.8 meters tall and looks like a strong young man, wins the humanoid’s race. It takes 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds to cross the finishing line. However, the fastest people runner finishes the race much faster—in just 1 hour and 2 minutes. The robots are slower than people and need some help during the race. Because it’s hard for them to keep balance, some robots need people to walk with them. And a few even have to stop to change their batteries (电池) because they run out of power.
Although the robots don’t win, the race is an important test for robot technology. Scientists want to see if robots can finish long-distance (长距离的) running like people. This race shows that robots still need improvements to run as fast as people.
This robot half-marathon is a big step forward for the development of China’s robots. Maybe robots will take part in more races and games in the future. Would you like to see robots race against (对抗) people again?
25. Which of the following robots wins the humanoid’s race?

26. Why do some robots need people to walk with them during the race?
①want to talk to humans ②run out of power ③get tired easily ④can’t keep balance
A. ①② B. ①③ C. ②③ D. ②④
27. What can we infer about the robots from the race?
A. They are faster than people.
B. They still need improvements to run as fast as humans.
C. They don’t need batteries to run in the future.
D. They may take part in basketball games against people some day.
28. Which can be the best title for the passage?

②“See all the flowers of Chang’an in one day” can describe the happy feelings of getting success (成功). Now I want to use it to describe a way of taking a trip—a “special forces” trip. People try to visit more places and eat all kinds of delicious foods in a short time, just like soldiers (士兵) can do many things in a short time.
③Many young people like “special forces trips”. A report from Trip. com shows that 62% of the young people like to use night buses as a transportation to get there. More than 30% of them visit over four places a day. They also visit 4 cities in South China in just five days. It needs a strong body and also a good plan before the trip.
④“We think a lot about the places and routes (路线), and read others’ travel notes before we start. We can enjoy ourselves better after we arrive at the place. Our body could be tired but the happiness of seeing fresh things pay off our tired feelings,” a young visitor said.
⑤But not all the young people like special forces trips. They would like to take a “citywalk” trip. They don’t need to think about where they are going or which restaurant is good. They just enjoy all the things along the way like the houses, people’s lives and the history of the place. They want to know more about the city and put themselves as a part of the city.
⑥“In Shanghai, there are big trees along the streets and shops selling different kinds of lovely things. Walking along the streets with friends and taking photos is the best time for my friends and me. We could feel the art of the streets and also the culture (文化) of China and western countries,” said one city walker.

Passage 2
①Do you speak dialect (方言) in everyday life? People in many places of China speak their own dialects. But with more Chinese people speaking Putonghua, only a small number of people speak dialects now.
②Dialects are important. When we talk to someone who speaks the same dialect as us, we feel like home. This is because we speak and think the same way.
③Also, dialects can teach us about different lives. People in different places have their own special words and phrases to use every day. For example, people in the northeast of China will say “贼” to mean “very” in English. When people in Sichuan or Chongqing want to ask you why, they use “啷个”. And when you meet a person from Guangdong, he may call you “靓仔” or “靓女”.
④Many people worry that children in places like Shanghai can’t speak their local (当地的) dialects well because they speak Putonghua more often in life. To help, some parents teach the children to speak their dialects, especially when they cook or eat dinner together.
⑤Schools can also help. Some schools start dialect classes. Li Huaiyuan is a boy from Hunan. His school started the dialect class last year and now he learns the Changsha dialect at school every week. Students learn speaking, listening, and about the culture behind the dialect.
⑥Now AI can draw a picture after listening to what people say, which is helpful to save dialects. When people hear the accent (口音) they grow up with, it makes them think of their childhood and then feel like home. By doing this, people may get more excited about the dialect and make it more interesting for young people and then speak it in daily life.
⑦Dialects are like different colors that make our world beautiful and special. Keeping them alive is important for saving different cultures and histories they have. Maybe we can think of more ways to save dialects in the future.
13. What words may make Xiaofeng feel like home?
A. 妹儿,你啷个哭了呀? B. 这题,贼带劲了!

B. To let students know Putonghua better.
C. To help students learn more about their dialect.
D. To tell students not to speak Putonghua in life.
15. What does this in ⑥ refer to (指代)?

Recently, a group of thin-legged robotic dogs are working to carry trash on the narrow and steep (陡峭的) paths of Mount Tai. “Please don’t litter! I work very hard every day and I don’t want to be too tired,” one robot dog says in a short video. The video has received millions of likes online.
Keeping Mount Tai clean is a big headache. In 2023, there were over 8.6 million visitors and they left nearly 24,000 tons of rubbish behind. As big machines couldn’t be used there, the area has depended on porters (挑夫), also known as tiaoshong in Chinese, to carry trash up and down the mountain on foot. However, fewer people now want to do this job.
The robotic dogs, also called Unitree B2, are produced by Unitree Robotics, a Chinese technology company in Hangzhou. “The robots can carry up to 120 kilograms and can climb for four to six hours on a single charge (充电),” said Ma, a manager of Mount Tai. In a recent test run, a robotic dog finished the 9.5 kilometer route (路线) in just two hours, about twice the speed of a human climber. The robot has a built-in camera and can monitor things around so that it won’t knock into (撞到) tourists.
People had different views on the robots. Some gave a thumb-up to the use of new technology. Others worried that porters would lose their jobs. A few even joked, “Can the dogs carry tourists too?” Ma said, “Robotic dogs are of great help but they cannot fully replace (代替) humans.”

Passage 11
