A team of Chinese scientists has created a six-legged “space mining robot”, which gets its design from insects. This robot could be used to find and mine (开采) resources (资源) on the Moon in the future.
Mining on the Moon is very different from mining on Earth. The Moon’s gravity (重力) is only one-sixth of Earth’s. This makes it hard for robots to do surface-penetrating (表面穿透) operations there. To solve this problem, the researchers from the China University of Mining and Technology studied carefully how insects move. Using the study results, they created the six-legged “space mining robot”.
The robot, which has three wheel legs and three claw (爪形) legs, can move on different surfaces. The wheels work well on smooth ground, while the claw legs help make the soil soft. The wheels are made of a special kind of material, which allows them to quickly return to their shape after being pressed. This also helps the robot stand up to both very high and low temperatures in space.
As China continues its Moon project, robots like this could be very useful. China plans to send the Chang’e 7 probe (探测器) to the Moon around 2026 to study the Moon’s south pole (南极). Chang’e 8 will be sent around 2028 to test how to use the Moon’s resources. Together with Chang’e 7, it will help build an international Moon research base (基地) by 2035.
32. What is the main challenge for robots to mine on the Moon?
A. The weak gravity on the Moon. B. The difficulty in finding resources.
C. The high cost of traveling in space. D. The great need of energy for operating them.
33. What can we know about the material of the robot’s wheels?
A. It doesn’t need any repairs. B. It is heavier than common materials.
C. It can deal with temperature changes. D. It can only work on one kind of surface.
34. What will Chang’e 7 and Chang’e 8 cooperate to do?
A. To test new kinds of robots. B. To train astronauts’ skills.
C. To find more Moon resources. D. To set up a research base on the Moon.
35. Where does this text probably come from?
A. A short novel about mining in space. B. A travel guidebook about the Moon.
C. A science magazine on new robots. D. A report about China’s space history.
D
I got lovely gifts from my friend last week. There were two pictures of birds. They were so beautiful. One of them especially caught my eye. It was a hummingbird (蜂鸟) in the warm spring sky. It was flying among flowers. It looked so small, yet so full of life.
I began to notice hummingbirds from a very young age. I would wait for spring and summer to arrive, so I could watch them. I was surprised at their flying skills among flowers. I would look at them for hours. They seemed not to follow the rules of nature. They didn’t mind how fast their wings would beat, how they could move around flowers, and how they could fly sideways or backwards. They would fly in and out of flowers and fight for food at the bird feeders. They were a true wonder to see: every time I looked at them I would smile!
Albert Einstein once said, “There are only two ways to live your life. Nothing is a wonder or everything is a wonder.” I will always choose the second way. I will always see the wonder in life: the rising sun, the shout of the sea, the cry of a newborn baby, or the scene of a hummingbird in the sky.
Always remember that life is a wonder. And always remember that you can be a wonder, too. It doesn’t require you to be perfect or talented—it simply asks you to act with all your heart. You can be a wonder of love by caring for others, even in small ways. You can be your parents’ wonder in this world simply by growing into the best person you can be...Just act with all your heart, and let it lead the way!
36. When could the writer see hummingbirds?
A. In winter and spring. B. In spring and summer.
C. In autumn and winter. D. In summer and winter.
37. What did the writer think of watching hummingbirds?
A. Enjoyable. B. Boring. C. Tiring. D. Scary.
38. Why does the writer mention Einstein’s words?
A. To show his respect for Einstein. B. To introduce his own opinion.
C. To compare his view with Einstein’s. D. To explain hummingbirds’ flying skills.
39. Which is true about “being a wonder” according to the writer?
A. It means being famous. B. It requires special talents.
C. It is impossible for most people. D. It asks for acting with all our heart.
40. What is the best title for the text?
A. My Childhood Memory B. Wonder in Everyday Life
C. How to Fly Like a Bird D. The Science of Hummingbirds
第二节 阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
Have you ever thought about what kind of job you would like to have when you grow up? Many people think that we can only have one job in our lifetime. We all know that this is not true, but quite a few people actually think this way. For example, when people choose a major (专业) in college, they think that the decisions they make now will decide their jobs for the rest of their lives. However, there are many examples where people became successful after changing their careers (职业) later in life.
J.K. Rowling, writer of the famous novel Harry Potter, was a school teacher before she began writing books. In fact, she was out of work before the first Harry Potter book came out.
Former US President Ronald Reagan began as an actor when he was a young man. He later discovered a deep passion (激情) for public service which led him to become President of the United States.
The famous 19th-century artist Vincent Van Gogh was not a painter from the beginning. He once worked as an art salesman and later became a preacher (牧师). It was only 10 years before he died that he decided to become an artist.
Careers are always open to change. The important thing is to find what you are really good at or what you really want to do. Once you find the answer, it’s all a matter of how hard you try

【答案】32. A 33. C 34. D 35. C
