Step 1 Lead-in & Revision (5 mins)
Activity: Review the weekly production plan from Period 4. Ask: "What is the production goal? How many units are produced each day?"
Introduce the lesson task: "Today we will make a new production plan, learn about Gantt charts and do extended activities."
To review old knowledge and lead in new content.
Step 2 Reading & Writing Tasks (10 mins)
Activity 1: Task 1 — Put work procedures in order (E→D→C→A→B: design, material selection, production, packing, delivery). Students explain the logic.
Activity 2: Task 2 — Circle key information in Owen’s notes. Teacher checks and highlights key data (1,000 pieces, 7 days, 2 days for design/material, 500 pieces max daily, 1 day for packing).
Activity 3: Task 3 — Judge if Owen’s project schedule is in line with notes. Students analyze (e.g., Packing takes Day 46 (3 days) but needs 1 day; Delivery is Day 7, which is okay).
Activity 4: Task 4 — Discuss project challenges and solutions (e.g., designer sick leave: arrange backup; material out of stock: choose similar materials).
To consolidate production process knowledge and train problemsolving ability.
Step 3 Extended Activities (10 mins)
Activity 1: Present the Gantt chart text. Students read quickly and answer: "What is a Gantt chart?"
Activity 2: Explain key benefits (visual reminder, see start/end time, task overlap, project visualization).
Activity 3: Students answer the two textbook questions: "What is a Gantt chart?" "What are the benefits of a Gantt chart?"
To expand cultural and professional knowledge, understand project management tools.
Step 4 Reading & Writing Task: Production Plan (5 mins)
Activity: Help Yang Jie make a production plan (800 tyres in 3 days, 240 units/day normally).
Plan: Day 1: 270 units; Day 2: 270 units; Day 3: 260 units (or adjust based on 8hour work).
Students write the plan simply. Teacher comments on rationality.
To apply reading knowledge to practical writing and improve practical ability.
Step 5 My Progress Check & Unit Summary (5 mins)
Activity: Students complete the My Progress Check section, ticking mastered words/expressions and skills.
Teacher summarizes the unit: key vocabulary (schedule/production words), key skills (describe schedules, talk about work time, write production plans), and emotional goals (time management, project awareness).
Homework:
1. Review all unit content.
2. Make a simple Gantt chart for your own study plan.
To comprehensively consolidate unit knowledge and form a complete knowledge system.
