Procedure Design 步 骤 活 动 设 计 设计意图 Step 1 Lead-in (5 mins) Activity: Review the four tips from the reading passage. Ask students to share their opinions on which tip is the most important. Introduce the lesson topic: "Today we will judge workplace behaviors, complete an email and learn about the spirit of craftsmanship." To review previous knowledge and lead in the new tasks. Step 2 Reading & Writing Tasks (10 mins) Activity 1: Behavior judgment task: Students read the three scenarios and decide whether the behaviors are appropriate, using happy or sad faces. 1. David doesn’t stop playing on his mobile phone until midnight before his first day at work. 2. Betty wears jeans and a Tshirt when formal clothes are required. 3. Jack doesn’t greet his coworkers on his first day. Check answers with the whole class and explain why each behavior is appropriate or inappropriate. Activity 2: Email completion task: Students read the email and fill in the blanks with the correct words (tips, late, appropriately, afraid, knowall). Check answers with the whole class and explain the structure of the email (From, To, Subject) and the key expressions. Students practice writing a short email with tips for a friend’s first day at work. To help students apply the knowledge from the reading passage and develop their writing skills. Step 3 Extended Activities (10 mins) Activity 1: Matching task: Students match the jobs with their requirements: 1. IT engineer – C. upgrade software 2. CNC operator – D. check CNC machines 3. electrician – A. install electrical equipment 4. mechanic – B. repair vehicle engines Activity 2: Guessing jobs: Students read the descriptions and guess the jobs (electrician, CNC operator, IT engineer, mechanic). Activity 3: Behavior judgment: Students read the scenarios about coworkers’ behaviors and decide whether they are appropriate. Activity 4: Speaking task: Students work in pairs to discuss and give advice to Zhao Bo on his first day at work. Step 4 Culture Corner (5 mins) Activity: Students read the passage about the spirit of craftsmanship. Answer the two questions: 1. What can you learn from the craftsmen in the text? 2. What is the spirit of craftsmanship in your opinion? Explain the meaning of the spirit of craftsmanship: dedication, precision, focus and innovation.
