Kung Fu Camp
Unlock your inner strength! Under the guidance of professional Shaolin masters, you will learn basic martial arts movements and the history of Kung Fu. Beyond physical training, you will explore the deep philosophy of balance and learn the importance of “Wude”, which emphasizes discipline and respect for others.
Peking Opera Camp
Step onto the grand stage and enter a world of color. You will discover the beauty of “Sheng, Dan, Jing, and Chou” roles through expert demonstrations. The applause (掌声) from the school arts festival had not yet faded from my memory when reality struck — my test results showed two failed subjects. My father’s disappointment filled our small living room. “Your band has stolen all your attention, creating constant diversion (分心) in your life,” he shouted. I shouted back, “You don’t understand anything about music!” before locking myself in my room, feeling completely misunderstood.
The silence between us lasted until Thursday evening. Passing by my parents’ bedroom, I heard the sound of a guitar. Through the half-open door, I saw my father carefully cleaning an old guitar. “I wrote songs for three years in college,” he said without looking up. “I understand the magic of music better than you think.”
He then opened my notebook. “Based on your class notes, which are very thorough, it’s possible that the reason for failing the exam isn’t a lack of effort on your part,” he said gently. Then he sang my chemistry formulas (公式) to a beautiful tune he had composed with the guitar. For the first time, those confusing formulas became easier to remember. We began studying together every night after dinner. Accompanied by the songs, chemistry became interesting. Each day of studying filled me with motivation.
My grades improved steadily, and I passed all my exams in finals. More importantly, one night, my father said something I’ll never forget: “I was wrong to immediately shut down your band activities. Your passion for music isn’t your enemy. I’ve noticed that you have learned to take control of your schedule properly, balancing your hobby with studies. It fills me with pride.”
Now, I know that as a student, my role isn’t just to shine on stage—I must also pursue excellence and work even harder in my studies. Now my father’s guitar no longer gathers dust in the corner, and I still perform with my band. We’ve both learned that true understanding begins when we stop opposing each other and start singing the same song — sometimes literally.
24. What caused the conflict between the author and his father?
A. The father’s disapproval of the band.
B. The author’s failure in two subjects.
C. Disagreements over career choices.
D. Different attitudes toward music.
25. How did the father help the author?
A. By organizing his class notes.
B. By setting strict study schedules.
C. By sending him a guitar as a gift.
D. By inspiring his interest in studying.
26. What made the father feel proud of the author?
A. His final decision to give up the band.
B. His outstanding musical talent on stage.
C. His improved ability to manage time wisely.
D. His unique method of memorizing formulas.
27. What is the main theme of the text?
A. The importance of strict parenting.
B. The value of understanding in family ties.
C. The challenges of pursuing a musical career.
D. The need to abandon hobbies for academic success.

Being able to diagnose (诊断) a disease efficiently is the ultimate goal of medicine. The quicker a patient can receive treatment, the better the outcome.
Now, advances in AI have made it possible to potentially diagnose TB (肺结核) via an X-ray, without the need for a radiologist (放射科医生) or waiting a long time for laboratory tests. This is changing the fight against the deadly disease, especially in low-income areas where the need is urgent.
TB is one of the world’s most deadly diseases, killing about 3,500 people a day. One of the primary issues in fighting this disease is a lack of radiologists available to diagnose the disease. “There are countries where there are fewer than five radiologists. It’s like a disaster. And, even if you have some, they will always be in the capitals,” said Dr Lucica Ditiu of the Stop TB Partnership.
This is where AI comes in. The AI software can analyse digital X-rays, with the technology fixed in vans (小型货车). This means the X-ray machines are mobile and can go wherever they are needed. In addition, the technology can also spot other lung diseases such as pneumonia and whooping cough.
The AI software can provide a diagnosis in seconds. In rural Mali, for instance, a mother came in for screening. The software, without even a doctor on site, almost immediately identified her as at risk for TB based on her X-ray. She went home and brought her five children for screening. Three of them were also identified as appearing to have TB, and all were scheduled to start treatment soon.
It is clearer than ever that AI is the future. In fact, as Dr Regina Barzilay, a professor at MIT, noted, developing countries will integrate AI into their medical systems more rapidly due to unmet needs. As breakthroughs like this one show, AI may save the day when it comes to medical care in these countries.
28. What do we know about the AI diagnostic system?
A. It works in cooperation with skilled radiologists.
B. It serves primarily in well-equipped city hospitals.
C. It relies entirely on laboratory data for accuracy.
D. It enables efficient diagnosis of lung diseases.
29. What is the core implication of Dr Ditiu’s statement?
A. There is a severe global shortage of radiologists.
B. There is an urgent need for rural doctor training.
C. There is an uneven distribution of radiologists.
D. There is a major gap in healthcare access.
30. Why is the mother in Mali mentioned?
A. To stress the limited access to rural healthcare.
B. To discuss the high risk of TB within families.
C. To illustrate the system’s effect on early detection.
D. To show the accurate diagnosis of AI as against doctors.
31. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Future of AI in Medical Diagnosis.
B. Challenges of Training Radiologists.
C. New Method for Testing Lung Diseases.
D. AI in the Fight Against TB in Rural Areas.

Glaciers store amounts of important climate data within their frozen rivers of snow and ice. But many of the world’s 220,000 glaciers are under threat from global warming, melting(融化) at an alarming rate.
In 2024, a UN research team went to harvest ice cores (核) from the glacier in the Alps. They wanted to add to test cores drilled just two years earlier, which showed clear chemical evidence of past climate. But when they got there, the glacier had melted so much that information trapped in the ice was lost. And this is a process happening in glaciers worldwide. Evidence showed melt rates were more than 30%higher between 2020 and 2024 than 15 years earlier.
Records show that almost all of the world’s glaciers are thinning out. Among the fastest melting glaciers are those in the Alps, but half the world’s glacial loss is from the US and Canada, and that ice core data could be lost forever. And the oldest continuous ice records are up to 130,000 years in Greenland and 800,000 years inAntarctica, where ice cores more than two miles in length have been taken out.
What those cores reveal are changing levels of greenhouse gases like CO2 over the last 400,000 years and clues to global warming. But it is not just atmospheric make- up or events like volcanic eruptions that are recorded in ice cores. Scientists have found viruses nearly 15,000 years old in samples (样本) from a Tibetan glacier.Genetic codes for 33 viruses, 28 of them unknown to science, were discovered, and researchers hope to find out more about how viruses have advanced and how they might respond to climate change.
Measures are being taken to preserve this type of data and increase our understanding of Earth’s climate and environment. Perhaps ice- covered areas of theAlps and the Andes will disappear by the end of this century. But probably the most threatening signals of glacial loss come from places like Greenland and Antarctica, where ice melt raises global sea levels.
32. Why did a UN research team go to the Alps in 2024?
A. To put back cores drilled years earlier. B. To trap scientific information in the ice.
C. To remove evidence of past climate. D. To collect ice cores from the glacier.
33. What does the underlined phrase “thinning out” mean?
A. Of poor quality. B. Growing much closer.
C. Less in amount. D. Having more layers.
34. What does paragraph 4 focus on?
A. Scientific data in ice cores. B. Main cause of global warming.
C. Changing levels of greenhouses. D. Plenty of samples of viruses.
35. Which places probably show the most alarming signs of glacier loss?
A. The Alps and the US. B. The Andes and Canada.
C. Greenland and Antarctica. D. Tibetan and the Alps.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Daydreaming is often seen as a bad habit, but psychologists suggest it may actually reflect several valuable personality traits (特征).
One key trait is a strong imagination. ___36___ It’s a kind of mental playground where ideas stretch and remix themselves. And frequent daydreamers? They live in that space. They can be folding laundry and at the same time building an entire different world where monkeys run coffee shops. That’s divergent (发散的) thinking, a cognitive skill connected with innovation and problem-solving.
___37___ Psychologists call this aesthetic (美学的) sensitivity — a great awareness of art, feelings, and small emotional differences. Small details, such as a line of poetry or a change in tone, can have a powerful emotional impact. This sensitivity often leads to greater empathy and insight, allowing daydreamers to understand others on a deeper level.
Another common trait is pattern-seeking. ___38___ This associative thinking helps them notice relationships that others may miss and explains why they are often drawn to stories, metaphors, and symbolic systems that suggest deeper meaning.
In addition, many daydreamers value solitude (独处). Time alone gives their thoughts room to wander freely, without interruption or external pressure. This doesn’t mean they dislike others; instead, they often prefer meaningful conversations to small talk. ___39___
Finally, daydreamers are natural storytellers. Even without writing or speaking aloud, they constantly imagine scenes, conversations, and alternative possibilities. ___40___ It also helps understand the past and imagine the future. These make daydreaming not a weakness, but a quiet gift.
A. It gives them room to process hard things.
B. Imagination isn’t just about “thinking creatively”.
C. They may not always speak their thoughts out loud.
D. They feel most comfortable in deep, thoughtful exchanges.
E. This ability to create fantasies helps them process emotions.
F. Daydreamers tend to be highly sensitive to beauty and emotion.
G. Daydreamers naturally look for connections between ideas, memories, and experiences.

Eddie lived in a friendly town filled with music. Sharing the same passion for music, Eddie formed a band, The Stars, with his childhood friends Luis and Ruben.
One day, they received a letter inviting them to a local music festival a month away. Excited, they decided to practise separately every day and then together once a week. But deep down, Eddie worried about their show because of Ruben, the guitarist. Although Ruben was a quick learner, he didn’t like to practise on his own at home. As a result, he often made a lot of mistakes due to lack of practice. This was a big problem for the band.
One week later, as scheduled, they gathered at the drummer Luis’s house for group practice. But they had only played a few lines when Ruben started making mistakes. “Sorry. I ... I just ...” Ruben tried to make an excuse.
“You just haven’t been practising again. You are always like this! We need to practise more; we are running out of time.” Luis’s face turned red with anger. Ruben also shouted back. Both boys stood locking eyes, full of tension. Eddie broke up the argument and calmed them down. He turned to Ruben, asking why he didn’t play at home. “I don’t like to play music on my own,” Ruben confessed (坦白). “My guitar sounds lonely by itself. You know I have trouble focusing on things.”
That night, Eddie’s father asked how band practice was going. Letting out a frustrated sigh, Eddie told him what had happened, saying they were considering replacing Ruben. His dad listened quietly, and then offered a simple suggestion, “Instead of practising the same song alone, why not figure out what helps Ruben focus?” Not wanting to lose Ruben as a band member or as a friend, Eddie began to think about it.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;

【答案】28. D 29. C 30. C 31. D

【答案】32. D 33. C 34. A 35. C
【解析】

【答案】36. B 37. F 38. G 39. D 40. E

I joined the International Crane (鹤) Foundation in 1986. My job was to feed chicks needing care and ___41___ them for the wild.
Young birds usually ___42___ the first large moving object they see to be their parent, so it’s important we ___43___ them from bonding with humans. At first, feeding was done from behind a barrier to reduce ___44___,but this wasn’t really practical.
One day, a colleague put on pink pants and threw a sheet over himself to take on the ___45___ of a crane. A lot of the staff thought he was crazy, but ___46___,the chicks responded well. So, we decided to ___47___ this method and began to wear crane costumes equipped with puppet (木偶) heads. It was a ___48___ job. When we first wore the costumes, it could be hard to control the ___49___ to react as a human, so we spent an extended period ___50___ to this process.

How is everything going? I’m writing to share my experience of visiting the Waste Art Exhibition in the art gallery last Friday.
In the exhibition, all the delicate artworks were made from waste materials, including used cans, old newspapers, plastic bottles and waste wood. Artists turned the common rubbish into sculptures and handcrafts, which was full of creativity.
I felt amazed. It taught me that waste can be reused in a meaningful way and that everyone can contribute to environmental protection. I hope you enjoy such a wonderful exhibition too.
Looking forward to your reply.

Eddie and Luis also started practising with Ruben via video calls, making it feel like a group session. Ruben became more focused, and his skills improved rapidly.
The day of the music festival finally arrived. The Stars took the stage. Ruben played flawlessly, and the audience was enthralled. Their performance was a huge success.
