Because of the “Yunnan Elephant”, many people have developed a strong interest in elephants, and it has also aroused a heated discussion about how man and nature should share the earth and live in harmony. In this issue of “Weekend Cinema”, Yingda has brought four documentaries related to this.
The Secret Life of Elephants
The Secret Life of Elephants is a nature documentary series following the lives of elephants and the work of the conservation charity Save the Elephants in Samburu National Reserve, Kenya. It was first released in the United Kingdom on a broadcast platform in January 2009 to 4.2 million viewers. The team follow the dramatic and emotional stories of 500 plus individually known elephants.
Penguin Town
The series is filmed in Simon's Town, South Africa, where these adorable African penguins wander close by to people, strolling down the sidewalk, passing sunbathers on the beach. The series follows various penguin couples. With great humour, their love stories are told, and you follow the adventures of these penguin couples starting families and having chicks.
Seven Worlds, One Planet
Millions of years ago incredible forces tore apart the Earth's crust (地壳), creating seven extraordinary continents, each with its own distinct climate, its own distinct terrain (地形) and its own unique animal life. Seven Worlds, One Planet explores the natural wonders that give each of our continents its distinct character. Following the animals that have made these environments their home, it discovers amazing wildlife stories that uncover what makes each of these seven worlds unique.
Bears on Top of the World
This moving film reveals the differing fortunes of a mother polar bear, a mother bear and their newborn babies, in a rapidly changing world. This is a remarkable story of how bears, ever intelligent, are adapting to a warming world.

During our childhood, we had cultural shows at school where singing, dancing, dramas and speeches were performed by the school students.Among many such programs that took place in the school, one drama actually made me laugh a lot.
It was a drama called Cinderella that actually turned out to be very comical. The person who directed that drama seemed to mainly train the students to memorize the dialogues which were well performed by them.
But what did the performers wear? While Cinderella was a cute little girl, she did not wear anything beautiful at the ball. She wore house slippers (拖鞋), and one of her slippers couldn't come off her foot when she was running away after midnight from the ball. She tried many times to take it off and finally it dropped and she ran away from the stage.
That missing slipper was found by a prince, who was actually a girl, dressed up as a boy but not looking like a boy.She held it up.Feeling a deep sense of shame, she acted her part showing it to the audience.More mistakes in the drama were that Cinderella's stepsisters were poorly dressed too at the ball and neither her stepsisters nor their mom looked like bad guys.
In the end, a fairy tale drama turned out to be a funny play and everyone had hearty laughs.Since it could give so much fun to the audience, it was not altogether a failure. And the audience laughed loudly as the drama ended, giving performers encouragement.
Cultural programs like this are needed for school students.Students don't need any special skills and the programs don't have to be fully perfect. They need to be organized in schools so that students can take part, share laughs and free their minds.

A recent trend in the entertainment world is to adapt classic works of literature for either TV plays or the movies. One argument is that this is to everyone's benefit, as it introduces people to works they might otherwise never have experienced, while others say that turning books into movies not only cheapens the original, but is rarely done successfully. So what do you think?
In the past few years, we have seen several classic works of literature were adapted into movies. Many people believe that turning a novel into a film is a great idea, but some obviously think otherwise.According to the_latter, translating classic works into movies destroys its originality and credibility. In my opinion, literary works can get translated into the screens effectively.
The main challenge that filmmakers face while turning a classic work into a movie is its imaginary world.Generally, the perception (见解) of the book's imaginary world differs from person to person. And it's quite challenging to put all these different perceptions in one frame. But modern technology has made this challenge achievable. For example, the filmmakers used visual effects to successfully adapt Jurassic Park movies so visually attractive that their perception of Jurassic Park changed. Therefore, literary works can be translated into films through technical means.
Also, while making a film, the main focus of makers always remains on the main plotline and characters. But for movies based on literary works, this issue is not there as these movies carry the same basic plotline as it is present in the books. Therefore, directors do not have to spend much time and imagination on the plot of the movie, which makes the adaptation quite easy.
Based on the above arguments, I believe that it is quite possible to make a beautiful movie based on a classic work using modern technologies and a writer's imagination.

Why Do Adults Love Animated Movies?

Both children and most adults love animation. Of course, there are animated movies that are directed specially to adults. __12__ So, why do adults like cartoons so much?
They have well-written characters.
There are plenty of reasons. First and foremost, a lot of them are really good. __13__ Screenwriters, designers, programmers and musicians are all working together to bring the best outcome to the big screen. And usually, they succeed.
Animated films have well-written characters facing complicated situations. Sometimes the scripts are even better than those in adult films. So, it comes as no surprise that animated films appeal to grown-ups as well.

Remember the time when you were a child and used to sit in front of the TV enjoying cartoons? Animated films bring out that specific feeling of our childhood. Moreover, they reveal our inner child. By watching an animated movie, we forget the monotony (单调乏味) of everyday life and leave our problems behind.
We love heroes.
Almost every cartoon has something to do with the journey of a character. A journey towards adulthood, or towards finding oneself, or succeeding in a quest. __15__ A hero that overcomes all obstacles trying to find true meaning and happiness in his or her existence? Plenty of times, the characters in animated films are bigger-than-life and that's what we need in order to believe in humans again.

A.They bring out the child in us.
B.Anything can happen in childhood.
C.And who doesn't love a hero like that?
