(Critical thinking) Food_that_everyone_likes_is_not_the_same_because_their_life_habits_are_different_and_they_come_from_different_countries_and_regions.So_we_should_understand_the_differences,_respect_the_beauty_of_the_differences,_share_the_differences_and_be_better_together._Just_keep_an_open_mind_and_try_to_enjoy_them_in_cross-cultural_environment! 2.What functions do you think food has? Can you explain them by examples?(Answers may vary.) Food is a big part of our history and culture. For example, zongzi reminds us of the historical story of Qu Yuan, which has been passed down through generations. The food we eat also teaches us more about the important values in our culture. We eat jiaozi during Spring Festival, and have mooncakes at Mid-Autumn Festival, which represents the joint family values we share. 本文标题“A Child of Two Cuisines”中的Two Cuisines即点明了本文的主线。 1.He was even shocked at their wedding when he saw how the Chinese ate almost every part of an animal. 2.Even today, he still does not easily take to eating things like chicken feet. 3.“You needn't try it if you don't want to,” Mum said, but I gathered all my courage to take a bite and was amazed to find it wasn't so bad. 1.Growing up in England with a British father and a Chinese mother, I've enjoyed food from both countries ever since I was able to hold a knife and fork — and chopsticks! Growing up in England with a British father and a Chinese mother是现在分词短语在句中作状语,简洁明了地表明了作者喜欢中英两个国家的食物的原因,避免了句式繁杂。 2.To me, there's nothing better than a cross-cultural afternoon tea of English biscuits and a cup of Chinese oolong tea in a fine china cup! [提能训练|完成句子] ①Knowing_your_school_offers_Chinese_courses,_I think it is a good idea for you to choose them. ②There_is_nothing_better_than spending time with the family. (三)赏修辞之功 1.(比喻修辞)I came across stinky tofu, a horrible grey thing that looked and smelt like a burnt sports shoe. 2.(引用修辞)People say that one man's meat is another man's poison, but I feel at home with food from both my cultures. 赏析:作者此处引用了英语谚语one man's meat is another man's poison(一个人的佳肴可能是另一个人的毒药)来说明不同的人有着不同的口味。 [提能训练] ①(完成句子)When I listened to music, it made my spirits fly_like_a_kite_in_the_wind. ②(英译汉)In wine, there is truth. ③(英译汉)A close mouth catches no flies. Mum has sweet memories of the food from her home town in Sichuan, and often cooks spicy dishes. Thanks to this, Dad has come to love hot pot! But there are still some dishes that Dad dare not try even after many years of marriage to my mother. We make good wishes and_plan_to_do_something to change ourselves at the beginning of the New Year. But_many_of_us_fail to stick with our New Year's resolutions even_after_making_them. Chinese Dumplings — Wealth With a history of more than 1,800 years, dumplings are a classic Chinese food, and a traditional dish eaten on Chinese New Year's Eve, widely popular in China, especially in North China.
