For more than a month, the world has been very excited about a new AI model called Deep Seek-RI. The company behind it, also called Deep Seek, is a business based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
The new AI first appeared on January 20th. In just one week, it beat Open AI’s Chat GPT and became number one free application (应用) in the App Store. What is so special about it?
According to Deep Seek, the new AI model is as good at difficult activities like math as other big-time models. But it needs much less computing power (算力) to do that. It is also the cheapest of its kind and took only about 5.57 million US dollars (40.58 million yuan) to make. That is way less than the hundreds of millions or even billions that US businesses have to spend on making similar AI models, said Marc Andreessen, a technology expert in the US.
The achievement was largely due to an idea the scientist had while they trained it. Instead of using the traditional ways, Deep Seek mainly uses Reinforcement Learning (RL). It helps AI learn by working out the right way to do things on its own to get points. This makes RI better at reasoning and solving hard problems.
What’s more, Deep Seek-RI is open-source (开源的). Everyone is free to get a copy of its code (代码). They can also change the code to meet their own needs. Being open-source is very important for sharing knowledge and making technology better for everyone, said Liang Wenfeng, who set up Deep Seek.
21.What does Paragraph 2 mainly say about Deep Seek-RI?
A.It’s new. B.It’s popular. C.It’s special. D.It’s free.
22.What is one of the strong points of Deep Seek-RI compared to other AI models?
A.It’s cheaper to develop. B.It’s smarter than others.
C.It’s better at difficult activities. D.It’s quicker in solving problems.
23.The word “achievement” refers to ________.
A.failure B.success C.problem D.difficulty
24.What is the structure of the passage? (P=Paragraph)
A. B. C. D.
25.What is the passage mainly about?
A.The importance of open-source code. B.The challenges faced by Deep Seek-RI.
C.The differences between AI models. D.The introduction to Deep Seek-RI.

Unit 4 Corporate Culture
1.—What’s your environmental club’s _________?
—“Keep Our World Clean”.
A.slogan B.mission C.part D.event
【答案】A
“Keep Our World Clean”是一个典型的口号,强调宣传性短语,而非使命、部分或事件。故选A。
2.Ms. Lee works tirelessly every day to ________ herself as a respected leader in the office.
A.obtain B.pursue C.establish D.crisscross
3.—I’ve heard Mr. Steen is learning Chinese.
—That’s true. He’s learning it for the ________ of starting a business in Beijing next year.
A.chance B.style C.choice D.purpose
for the purpose of是固定搭配,意为“为了……
4.The dress ________ your trainers very well, but I don’t think it ________ the picnic.
A.fits, is fit for B.fit, matches C.matches, is fit for D.matches, fits
fit适合;be fit for适合于;match相匹配。根据“The dress … your trainers very well”可知,衣服和运动鞋相匹配,所以第一空填matches,排除A和B选项。根据“it … the picnic”可知,第二空指这套装扮不适合于野餐的环境,所以第二空应填 is fit for,故选C。
5.—Can you tell me ________ the guard will allow me to enter your community or not?
—Oh, don’t worry. He will let you go into it ________ you sign your name and phone number in the table.
A.whether; if B.if; if C.whether; whether D.if; whether
【答案】A
whether是否;if如果,是否。第一空,在引导宾语从句时,whether可以与or not直接连用,而if通常不可以;第二空,根据“He will let you go into it...you sign your name and phone number in the table.” 故选A。
6.Kate isn’t sure ________.
A.how many times has he been to Beijing B.what the matter is with the computer
C.which bus can take her to school D.which hotel she can live in Shanghai
how many times has he been to Beijing他去过北京多少次;what the matter is with the computer错误表达,what’s the matter作宾语从句时,语序不变,排除B;which bus can take her to school哪辆公交车可以带她去学校;which hotel she can live in Shanghai她可以住上海的哪家酒店。宾语从句用陈述语序,排除A项;D选项in Shanghai作状语,但是live表示“居住”,hotel作其宾语时,需要live后面用介词搭配,正确的表达为“which hotel in Shanghai she can live in”。
7.________ makes the school famous is ________ more than 98% of the students have been admitted to universities.
A.What; because B.That; because C.That; what D.What; that
8.________ your father wants to know is ________ getting on with your studies.
A.What; how are you B.That; how you are C.How; that you are D.What; how you are
“…your father wants to know”是主语从句,缺少动词know的宾语,故用代词what,故排除B、C项;“…getting on with your studies”是表语从句,应用陈述语序,故排除A项中“how are you”的疑问语序。故选D。
9.—Shall we take the underground to the city center to take a walk around?
—________. Isn’t it worth doing some voluntary work for the elderly in our community?
A.Far from it B.Take care C.Don’t mention it D.Forget it
Far from it远非如此;Take care保重;Don’t mention it不客气;Forget it算了吧。
10.—Do you still remember the science lesson from China’s Tiangong Space Station last year?
—________ It was so amazing that I will never forget it.
A.What a pity! B.Not exactly. C.Certainly not. D.Of course!
What a pity真遗憾;Not exactly不完全是;Certainly not当然不是;Of course当然。根据“It was so amazing that I will never forget it.”

One possible version:
Here is my design for the new app. I suggest naming it “Happy English Learning”.
The app will include a variety of content such as English news, English movies, English songs, English games and so on.
There are several key advantages to this app. It makes it easy for students to study together and share their progress. Besides, it helps enlarge our vocabulary through repeated exposure to new words. It can also improve our English listening skills with authentic audio and video materials. What’s more, it offers a relaxing way to learn, such as by listening to songs after studying.
However, we shouldn’t use it too much because it is harmful to our eyes. Because of this, we should limit how long we students can use it each time.
I hope my ideas will be valuable to your company.
