On Lunar New Year’s Eve, the 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala showed a wonderful cultural performance called Ode to the Flower Gods. It got ideas from the white jade pendants (玉佩) in the Palace Museum.
The show brought together twelve months, twelve flowers, and twelve historical characters into one poetic whole. It reflected the beauty of traditional Chinese culture and how flowers can stand for good virtues (德行). What makes this show special is that each flower is associated with a person who has a similar spirit. For example, the poet Tao Yuanming, who doesn’t care about fame or wealth, having a similar spirit of the chrysanthemum, became the flower god for the 9th lunar month. Another poet, Lin Bu, who is famous for his love for plum blossoms (梅花), was linked to the 1st lunar month. In Lin Bu’s poems, we can find the virtue of plum blossoms—staying true to one’s heart. Another example, Zhou Dunyi, who wrote Ode to the Lotus (《爱莲说》), was the flower god of the 6th lunar month. The lotus grows in mud but stays clean, just like his noble (高贵的) spirit. Zhang Qian, who brings back the seeds of the pomegranate blossom (石榴花) became the flower god of the 5th lunar month. The pomegranate blossom has been the symbol of liveliness and enthusiasm (热情). The show brought these ancient characters to life.
But how did the show create such a magical world on stage? The answer lies in technology. For the first time, the production team used a special AI technology called AIGC (AI-generated content) to create amazing stage effects. Imagine a snowy winter scene turning into a field of spring flowers right before your eyes.
With the help of AIGC technology, the performance mixed live acting with digital scenes. The show keeps tradition alive in the digital age and shows the spirit of Chinese civilization with gentle but strong cultural confidence.
28.Where did the show Ode to the Flower Gods get its ideas from?
A.The traditional Chinese poems. B.The beautiful spring flowers.
C.The white jade pendants. D.The famous historical stories.

Do you think you’re a good listener? Most people would say yes. But studies show that most people seriously overestimate (高估) their ability to listen. The truth is we are generally not good at listening, and our listening comprehension (理解力) drops as we age.
Why aren’t we good at listening? One reason is about the speed at which we think. The adult brain can process up to around 400 words per minute. This means a person thinks more than three times faster than he speaks during a conversation. Therefore, we can easily think about something else while someone is talking to us. Thinking about how you will reply while someone is still talking is one of the most common barriers that stop you from careful listening.
Another reason that leads to our poor listening is our ever-decreasing attention span (持续时间). According to the study by Microsoft, in 2000, the average human attention span was 12 seconds; in 2013, it was only 8 seconds! Our mobile phones often distract us, which can have a negative influence on our listening. Test results have shown that being stopped by a cell phone lowers listening comprehension by 20 percent.
More and more people now realize that listening is a skill that can be developed through practice. Learning to watch a speaker’s body language and emotions carefully, for example, can improve our active listening. Even the simple act of note-taking or making eye contact can help us stay focused while listening.
There are many rewards of effective listening. Research suggests that people who are good listeners make better leaders. And a recent study shows that workers who don’t believe their bosses are listening to them are less likely to offer helpful suggestions and new ideas. As Dr. Ralph Nichols once said, “The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them.”
32.According to the passage, why does the brain’s processing speed prevent careful listening?
A.It causes people to speak too quickly.
B.It reduces the ability to remember details.
C.It prevents emotional connection with the speaker.
D.It allows the mind to pay attention to other thoughts.
33.What does the underlined word “distract” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Change one’s mind. B.Develop one’s interest.
C.Influence one’s health. D.Take one’s attention away.
34.Which of the following sentences is TRUE according to the passage?
A.Taking simple practices may improve listening ability.
B.It is necessary to receive expensive training programs.
C.Good speakers are more likely to become better leaders.
D.The ways of improving listening skills are useless for old people.
35.What is the main purpose of the passage?
A.To prove listening skills are unchangeable.
B.To describe the influence of phones on people.
C.To give reasons for poor listening and solutions.
D.To compare listening abilities across different ages.

Therefore, we can easily think about something else while someone is talking to us.”可知,成年人的大脑每分钟最多可处理约400个单词。这意味着在对话过程中,一个人的思考速度比说话速度快三倍以上。因此,当别人和我们说话时,我们很容易分心去想别的事情。故选D。
33.词句猜测题。根据“Our mobile phones often distract us, which can have a negative influence on our listening.”可知,我们的手机经常让我们分心,这会对我们的倾听能力产生负面影响,因此此处distract表达为分散某人的注意力,即Take one’s attention away。故选D。
34.细节理解题。根据“Even the simple act of note-taking or making eye contact can help us stay focused while listening.”可知,简单的记笔记、眼神交流能帮助我们保持专注,即采取简单的练习可能提升倾听能力。故选A。
35.主旨大意题。根据文章可知,文章主要介绍分析倾听能力差的原因,并给出相应的提高倾听能力的方法,因此文章的主要目的在于说明倾听能力差的原因并给出解决方法。故选C。
