Jordyn Perez was almost 8 years old when her mum had a new idea
for her birthday. Instead of keeping all the gifts to herself, she could
share them with kids who were in hospital. Jordyn thought about it and
agreed to the idea. She realized she already had everything she needed,
but the kids in hospital needed some happiness.
Now in high school, Jordyn continues to bring happiness to kids
who are seriously ill. Last December, she made her eighth birthday-gift
donation
10
(捐赠) to Baptist Children's Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, US. Jordyn's
giftsalways make the children smile and feel better. “Seeing the delight of
the children is all that matters to me,” Jordyn says.
Jordyn started giving away gifts in 2016. Then every year, a few
weeks before her birthday, Jordyn's friends get a list of gift ideas for
kids in the hospital, along with an invitation to her birthday party. Jordyn
also shares the list with her family, teachers and volleyball teammates.
The number of donations grows every year, showing how much people
want to help.
Jordyn's kindness has inspired (激励) others to follow in her
footsteps. Her friends have started giving away gifts for their birthdays
too.
“Giving to others feels really good,” Jordyn says. “I want to keep
doing this as long as I can.”#6
