Ballet
Ballet is a type of performance dance that originated (起源于) in the Italian Renaissance (文艺复兴) courts of the 15th century and later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia. It has since become a widespread (普及的), highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary based on French terminology (术语) . Ballet requires years of training to learn and master, and much practice to retain proficiency. It has been taught in ballet schools around the world, which have historically used their own cultures to evolve the art.
Ballet may also refer to a ballet dance work, which consists of the choreography (舞蹈编排) and music for a ballet production. A well-known example of this is The Nutcracker (胡桃夹子), a two-act ballet that was originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with a music score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Ballet dance works are choreographed and performed by trained artists. Many classical ballet works are performed with classical music accompaniment (伴奏) and are theatrical and use elaborate (精心制作的) costumes (服装) and staging, though there are exceptions to this, such as works by George Balanchine.

In a drama play, a performer might use body language to show the sad emotion like this:
They slowly walk with their head down, shoulders slumped (耷拉着), to show sadness and tiredness.
They cover their face with hands or cry silently, making the audience feel how heart broken the character is.
Their voice becomes soft and shaky, adding to the feeling of sadness.
Even without saying words like "I'm sad," the performer's movements and expressions tell the story clearly.

Post-listening
Ballet is a special form of art. It's a French word. It means "to dance". There's no talking or singing in ballet. Instead, the ballet dancers express themselves through dance. They also use other forms of body language, such as gestures and facial expressions, to tell stories.
Ballet began in Western Europe in the 15th century. Today it has become popular all over the world.
One of the most famous ballets in the world is Swan Lake. The dancers tell the story and express different feelings through their body language. For example, when the Prince meets the Swan Queen, she tells him her story. When she meets someone who will love her forever, she will return to her human self. The dancer holds her hands to her heart to mean love and points to the sky to say forever.
Ballet is beautiful, but it's not easy to become a ballet dancer. Many of the dance moves are very difficult. For example, dancers need to make difficult jumps and kick their legs sideways. Female ballet dancers even need to balance on the tips of their toes. Training usually starts at an early age, and the dancers have to go through a lot of training to keep their bodies strong. They have to practise very hard every day. They learn to use their bodies to express all kinds of feelings in a beautiful way.
