Listen to the next question. Good morning, everyone. Today, i'd like to put forward some suggestions on how we can bring more visitors to our beautiful switzerland. Right now, most tourists come in winter for skin in the alps, especially in places like the mod. In summer, they come for hiking and mountain biking in cities like Lucy. However, we can do more to make switzerland a year round destination. First, our quiet nature and fresh air are perfect for health tourism, which is becoming more popular worldwide. Second, we can promote cultural experiences, such as holding international music festivals in geneva, trying food at street markets and hosting free cheese making workshops. This will attract tourists who want more than just beautiful views. Additionally, we should improve transportation between smaller towns, making IT easier for tourists to explore hidden spots. Last but not least, we can also partner with advertising companies and travel reporters to share switzerland ins beauty on social media. With these strategies, we can show the world that switzerland has something to offer in every season. Thank you. Good morning, everyone. The Walt Disney Company turns 100 this year, and the whole world celebrates its stories, characters and imagination — but only Philly’s Franklin Institute houses the official Disney 100: The Exhibition (展览). Making its world debut (首映式) right here in Philadelphia, the exhibition takes guests behind the scenes and puts them into the magic of Disney at what’s sure to be one of the must-see exhibitions of this year.
When to Visit
From February 18 to August 27.
What to Expect
The exhibition features 10 large, themed galleries that tell the history of Disney from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Strange World. What can guests expect? Items from the Walt Disney Archives (档案馆), as well as more than 250 of Disney’s “Crown Jewels”. That includes seldom seen original artworks and behind-the-scenes collection. A couple of the items on view include a steamboat whistle from Steamboat Willie (which marked Mickey’s first appearance).
Admission & Tickets
Guests have several options with regards to experiencing the exhibition.
People who visit in the daytime (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) can buy timed tickets for $45 (adults) and $41 (children aged 3—11). The best part: General museum admission to the rest of the Franklin Institute is included in the cost.
Looking to save on tickets? Consider visiting during the exhibition’s evening hours, which run from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets run $25 per person and do not include admission to the rest of the museum.
Lastly, consider picking up Flex Time Tickets, which allow exhibition access for any time. These run $61 a person and must be bought over the phone.

Aged 15 in high school, I was talkative and outgoing, often betting that nobody else would do their homework, so I needn’t either. I did not enjoy geometry (几何), although I liked the philosophical approach of our teacher, Mrs Trenholm. She told us that geometry was about humankind’s ability to work things out.
A month or so into the year we started on Euclidean geometry. We were all struggling and I was probably the most vocal (敢于直言的) in class about it. Mrs Trenholm set us homework — to prove two angles in a complex geometric shape are equal. She pulled me aside as we were leaving class and said, “Don’t talk your way out of this.”
I went home, worked on it for 20 minutes and gave up. Later I decided to try again. My handwriting was messy, and I noticed that if I made the diagram neater and bigger, I could see where I probably went wrong. At about 5 am, I got it and felt like my brain had been rewired!
I handed it in the next day. Mrs Trenholm would never embarrass students in front of everyone. So she came to me and handed me the paper with a little check mark in the corner. She looked right at me and asked, “Did you do this?” When I said yes, she nodded and went back to the front of the class, declaring, “One of you now understands Euclidean geometry. Let’s keep going so everybody will get it.”
From then on, I found that if I concentrated and worked hard, I could understand and even enjoy a subject. I went on to study maths and physics at university, took a master’s degree in applied science and became a nuclear research scientist. I became someone who no longer allowed myself the freedom to talk myself out of dealing with problems, or give up when things seemed too difficult.
24.How can we describe the author from the first two paragraphs?
A.He had trouble studying geometry. B.He always had bets with others.
C.He was absorbed in philosophy. D.He was not skilled at socializing.
25.Why did Mrs Trenholm pull the author aside after class?
A.To warn him not to talk too much.
B.To give him some tips on homework.
C.To encourage him to try more approaches.
D.To make him take homework seriously
26.What was Mrs Trenholm’s first feeling about the author’s homework?
A.Disbelieving. B.Relieved. C.Disapproving. D.Excited.
27.What did the author want to express through the last paragraph?
A.He would go for more freedom. B.That lesson taught him to think twice.
C.The maths puzzle was a life changer. D.His university life was pretty colorful.

Listening to music is considered a good thing for adults. Indeed it is. Scientific studies have proved it. Music has so many good effects on our bodies, minds and moods that this world will certainly not be a good place without music. Then, is music good for children? Some parents think so and they let their children learn or listen to music. But some parents don’t know the importance of music to children. Here are some reasons why music is important to children.
First, music is good for children’s intelligence. Studies have proved that children who learn music are likely to have higher intelligence than those who have no interest in music. This is because the brain gets stimulated (刺激) by the rhythm and tone of music.
Music also has a soothing (抚慰的) effect on children and helps relieve their stress. Today’s children are under a lot of stress from schoolwork. Being under too much stress impairs children’s health. Luckily, listening to music can help them feel better.
Music can improve children’s moods. Some children are sad by nature. They seem to be lost in their own thoughts and don’t take interest in their surroundings. In such cases, a method known as “music therapy” comes to their rescue. It changes their moods and places a new kind of spirit in them.
Music is also a universal language that children ought to learn. Our world has become a global village. People are getting more and more interested in other cultures and countries. Music can help them in understanding foreign cultures.
Now we can say that music is very important not only to adults but also to children. So children should be encouraged to learn music or listen to music.
28.By mentioning scientific studies in Paragraph 1, the author wants to show _________.
A.why adults should listen to music B.children should listen to music
C.listening to music is only good for adults D.why scientists are interested in music
29.The last but one paragraph shows that listening to music means _________.
A.learning languages better B.understanding foreign cultures better
C.accepting the fast developing world easily D.showing greater interest in other cultures
30.What’s the author’s attitude towards listening to music?
A.Negative. B.Neutral. C.Positive. D.Indifferent.
31.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.Why do Children Love Music? B.How to Choose Music for Children.
C.How to Teach Children Music Easily. D.Why is Music Important to Children?

In today’s world, bad news seems endless — wars, economic crises, and climate disasters fill headlines. Yet, many of us can’t stop checking our phones for updates, even late into the night. This habit, known as “doom-scrolling”, traps people in a cycle of consuming negative content.
Humans naturally focus on threats — a survival need from ancient times. Early humans who noticed dangers like predators (掠食者) had better chances to survive. Modern media uses this natural ability, prioritizing shocking headlines with the rule “if it bleeds, it leads.” Social media now acts like a digital “lion in the grass”, feeding our brains endless alerts about global crises. Christopher Ferguson, a psychology professor at Stetson University, explains, “People who struggle with uncertainty are especially open to doom-scrolling.”
This habit resembles contemplation (沉思) — repeating dark thoughts without solving problems. Research suggests heavy social media use may worsen mental health, linking it to depression and anxiety. Even if the cause-effect relationship is unclear, losing sleep over endless scrolling certainly harms mood. Physical effects are also emerging. Dan Nicolau, an immunobiologist at King’s College London, found that frequent social media users may have higher levels of C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation (炎症). This could result from the body preparing for imagined threats, leading to long-term inflammation linked to diseases.
To escape this cycle, start by distancing yourself from your phone. Delete app shortcuts or use tools to limit screen time. Ferguson advises, “Social media should mostly be fun. Ask yourself: Are you enjoying this?” If not, create a plan. For example, use a catchphrase like “Stop scrolling” to interrupt the habit. Finally, avoid panicking about your tech use — small, mindful steps can rebuild a healthier relationship with your devices. By understanding why doom-scrolling happens and taking practical actions, we can reclaim our time and mental well-being.
His final tips? Don’t doom-scroll about doom-scrolling. “It’s healthy to reflect on our relationship with technology. Just try not to panic while doing it,” Perguson said.
32.Why do people tend to focus on threats naturally?
A.People enjoy consuming negative content.
B.It is a survival need inherited from ancestors.
C.Modern media prioritizes shocking headlines.
D.Social media keeps informing us of global crises.
33.How does the author organize the information in Paragraph 3?
A.By proving clear causes of health problems.
B.By listing experts’ opinions from both sides.
C.By showing study findings with explanations.
D.By warning about risks and advising solutions.
34.What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A.Various doom-scrolling habits.
B.Media’s role in doom-scrolling.
C.The lasting effects of doom-scrolling.
D.Strategies to overcome doom-scrolling.
35.What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean?
A.Stop researching doom-scrolling.
B.Avoid discussing doom-scrolling.
C.Don’t over-worry about doom-scrolling.
D.Don’t learn about doom-scrolling online.

In our daily life,we will often have a bottle of water with us when we go anywhere and most of the time we will drink everything. 36 We usually throw water bottles into the trash because we know nothing special about plastic bottles. However, there are many interesting things you can do with empty plastic bottles!
Separate eggs.
Do you find it challenging to isolate eggs? In some recipes, you need egg yolk (the round yellow part in the middle of an egg) and white eggs but this process is a bit hard. 37 Break the egg into a bowl. Remove the lid (盖子) from the bottle and pinch (捏) a little. Then continue the pressure, put the ends into the egg yolk and stop the pressure. This way, the egg yolk will be absorbed into the bottle while the egg white will remain on the plate.
38
Making biscuits and just realized you didn’t have any tools to cut them? Plastic bottles will give you a solution again. Making a homemade biscuit cutter from plastic bottles is the best way to reuse plastic bottles as you never know the situation when you need to use it. You just need a small or large plastic bottle depending on your needs. 39
Make air conditioners.
40 You just need a fan and two bottles of iced water. Sometimes, the fan removes hot air and does not cool the room but now we have a solution for you! Fill two large bottles with water and freeze until ice. Then, place the bottle on the floor or on the table for a high fan. Put the fan behind the bottle and the fan will blow the cold air as the frozen bottle causes the temperature to decrease.
A.Cut off the biscuits.
B.But what happens after we drink it?
C.But why should we reuse these bottles after when drink it?
D.Don’t worry. You can solve this problem with plastic bottles.
E.You can make your own air conditioning with plastic bottles.
F.It’s very common to cool a room in summer with air conditioners.
G.Cut the bottle into half and take one of two sections to cut the biscuits.

What do people do with their old, out-of-date but still useful computers? Most people don’t know 56 to deal with them. Many old computers are put away in homes. Many 57 (throw) away with the rubbish.
Finally, some companies are thinking of ways 58 (reduce) the number of old computers. Sony has agreed to help recycle old Sony products. Dell, Hewlett-Packard and other companies now also take 59 some old computers.

One afternoon after school, Ella and her brother Mark, were eating at a cafe near their home. That afternoon, they had to share their table with another person. That person was a young man in his twenties. After eating, he went to the restroom leaving his iPad on the table. Five minutes later, he came out talking on the cellphone with someone and hurriedly walked out of the cafe without looking back.
Ella saw the iPad on the table. She quickly told Mark, “Mark, the man left behind his iPad.” Mark looked at the iPad. It took his breath away. It was one of the latest models on the market. Mark had always wanted an iPad. But his parents had told him, “You have a cellphone and you need to focus on your study. No need, to have an iPad.” He stared at it for some minutes. Then he said slowly, pausing on every word, “I want to take the iPad.” Ella could not believe her ears. She merely stared at her brother. “You can’t! What if the owner comes to look for it?”
Having made the decision, Mark quickly grabbed the iPad and put it in his schoolbag. Then, he took Ella’s hand and led her out of the cafe quickly.
Once back home, Mark rushed to his bedroom. Inside his room, he couldn’t wait to take out the piece of beauty from the bag. Oh, he liked it so much. He had his dream iPad for free. Soon, he was polishing it happily. But Ella came in, telling him, “Mark, you cannot keep the iPad. What will you tell Father about this? He will ask you how you got the iPad.” Mark said quickly, “I will say a friend lent it to me.” Ella said, “Now you are lying. Oh dear! When have you turned so dishonest?”
Then Ella noticed a phone number on the back of the iPad. “This may be the man’s phone number. Why don’t we just call this number? He must be worried and sad about losing his iPad. We will talk to him and ask him to come and take it back.” She was trying to talk some sense into him.

【答案】17.C 18.B 19.C 20.A
【原文】 W: Good morning everyone. Today I’d like to put forward some suggestions on how we can bring more visitors to our beautiful Switzerland. Right now, most tourists come in winter for skiing in the Alps, especially in places like Zermatt. In summer they come for hiking and mountain biking in cities like Lucerne. However, we can do more to make Switzerland a year round destination. First, our quiet nature and fresh air are perfect for health tourism, which is becoming more popular worldwide. Second, we can promote cultural experiences such as holding international music festivals in Geneva. Trying food at street markets and hosting free cheese making workshops. This will attract tourists who want more than just beautiful views. Additionally, we should improve transportation between smaller towns, making it easier for tourists to explore hidden spots. Last but not least, we can also partner with advertising companies and travel reporters to share Switzerland’s beauty on social media. With these strategies, we can show the world that Switzerland has something to offer in every season.
Thank you.

【答案】24.A 25.D 26.A 27.C
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了主人公在高中时对几何学困难的经历,以及在一位教师的指导下最终克服困难并取得成功的过程,展现了教育的力量和自我成长的意义。
24.细节理解题。根据第二段“We were all struggling and I was probably the most vocal (敢于直言的) in class about it.(我们都学得很吃力,我可能是班上对此最直言不讳的一个。)”可知,作者学习几何有困难。故选A项。
25.细节理解题。根据第二段“She pulled me aside as we were leaving class and said, “Don’t talk your way out of this.”(我们正要离开教室时,她把我拉到一边说:“别想靠说话蒙混过关。”)”可知,老师把作者拉到一边是为了让他认真对待作业。故选D项。
26.推理判断题。根据第四段“She looked right at me and asked, “Did you do this?” (她直视着我问道:“是你做的吗?”)”可知,老师对作者的家庭作业最初是不相信。故选A项。
27.推理判断题。根据最后一段“From then on, I found that if I concentrated and worked hard, I could understand and even enjoy a subject.(从那以后,我发现只要专心努力,我就能理解甚至喜欢一门学科。)”以及作者后来的成就可知,成功解决几何难题的经历让他的生活也发生了改变。故选C项。
C
【答案】28.A 29.B 30.C 31.D
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要论述了音乐不仅对成人有益,对孩子也至关重要,并阐述了具体原因。
28.推理判断题。根据第一段中“Listening to music is considered a good thing for adults. Indeed it is. Scientific studies have proved it. Music has so many good effects on our bodies, minds and moods that this world will certainly not be a good place without music.(听音乐被认为是一件适合成年人的好事。事实的确如此,这一点已得到科学研究的证实。音乐对我们的身体、心智和情绪都有着诸多益处,倘若没有音乐,这个世界定然不会如此美好。)”可知,作者在第一段提及科学研究,是为了说明听音乐对成年人有益,也就是为什么成年人应该听音乐。故选A。
29.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段中“Music can help them in understanding foreign cultures.(音乐可以帮助他们理解外国文化。)”可知,听音乐意味着更好地理解外国文化。故选B。
30.推理判断题。根据第一段中“Listening to music is considered a good thing for adults. Indeed it is.(听音乐被认为是一件适合成年人的好事。)”以及最后一段中“Now we can say that music is very important not only to adults but also to children.(现在我们可以说,音乐不仅对成年人很重要,对孩子也很重要。)”可推知,作者对听音乐持积极态度。故选C。
31.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第一段中“Then, is music good for children? Some parents think so and they let their children learn or listen to music. But some parents don’t know the importance of music to children. Here are some reasons why music is important to children.(那么,音乐对孩子有好处吗?一些父母这样认为,他们让他们的孩子学习或听音乐。但是有些父母不知道音乐对孩子的重要性。以下是音乐对孩子很重要的原因。)”可知,文章主要论述了音乐对孩子很重要的原因,包括音乐对孩子的智力有好处、音乐能抚慰孩子并缓解他们的压力、音乐能改善孩子的情绪以及音乐是一种孩子应该学习的通用语言等。故D选项“Why is Music Important to Children?(为什么音乐对孩子很重要?)”最符合文章标题。故选D。
D

This could result from the body preparing for imagined threats, leading to long-term inflammation linked to diseases.

After a long and restless night, the next morning, he was determined to return the iPad to the owner. After school, he told Ella, “You’re right. I can’t keep it for my own. I am going to phone the owner.”
Ella was very happy to hear that. Back home, they immediately dialed the number on the back. A young man answered the phone. Mark asked, “Have you lost an iPad? I’m Mark. I found your iPad. Can you come and get it?” “Yes!” the man replied excitedly. Then he expressed his gratitude repeatedly. Ten minutes later, he was at the same cafe to meet Mark and Ella.
