话题:缩写是语言进化还是社交灾难?
文体:说明文 文章词数:约280词
难度:★★★☆☆ 建议用时:8分钟
We run into abbreviations(缩写词)
every day. In the U.S.(short for the
United States), for example, people call
their space organization NASA. They
30
seldom use its full name, the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration. Many abbreviations are so common that we use
them without thinking. Some people feel that they make it
easier to talk, read and write. Others aren’t so sure. They think
these shortened words or phrases can cause confusion(困惑).
Both sides have an argument to make. Which side are you on?#1.3
FOR
Ever since its invention, human language has kept changing.
Imagine what life would be like if it had stayed the same.
We’d still be talking like Shakespeare, saying “thine” instead of
just “yours”! Some abbreviations, like GIF, have become so
common that it would sound strange to say them in full.
Abbreviations can help to make text and speech shorter and
easier to understand. For example, typing “BRB” is a lot faster
than writing “I’ll be right back”, isn’t it?
32
AGAINST
If abbreviations aren’t used properly, they can slow you
down rather than speed things up. For example, if a word or
phrase isn’t written out in full the first time it appears in an
article, readers may have to waste time looking it up. Shortened
words and phrases can also make people feel left out. It can be
embarrassing to ask what “TGIF” means. Languages have kept
changing, but not every change is for the better. Saying “TY”
33
just doesn’t feel as polite as saying “thank you”, does it? In
such cases, abbreviations can lead to misunderstandings and
even harm friendships.
1.Why do some people support using abbreviations?
________________________________________________________
_______
Because abbreviations/they make it easier to talk, read and
write.
2.What advantage do abbreviations have for text and speech?
________________________________________________________
____________
They can make text and speech shorter and easier to
understand.
3.How can shortened words make some people feel?
________________________________________
They can make some people feel left out.
35
4.What serious results can abbreviations lead to in some cases?
________________________________________________________
____________
They can lead to misunderstandings and even harm
friendships.
5.Can you think of other abbreviations in English? Please give
at least two examples and their full forms.

Yes./Yes, I can. For example, DIY. It stands for “Do It
Yourself”. WTO. It stands for “World Trade
Organization”./…(开放性试题,言之有理即可。)

从语篇中学阅读策略
议论文三要素分析法
议论文三要素分析法是一种帮助读者读懂说理性文章的方法。
它把一篇议论文拆解成三个最基本的部分:论点、论据和论证。
具体来说,运用这个方法需要读者:
●找论点:抓住作者最核心的观点和主张;
●理论据:梳理作者用了哪些材料来支持观点,比如事实、
数据、名人名言等;
●析论证:分析作者是怎样用论据来证明论点的,其中的逻
辑是否合理、具有说服力。#1.1.1.3
37
通过这样一步步分析,读者就能更清楚地理出一篇文章的逻辑
结构,理解作者是怎么说服读者的。长期练习,不仅能提升读者对
议论文的阅读深度,还能锻炼读者的逻辑思考和批判性分析能力。
