个性思考
1、 创设情境
1.Show a picture of the ugly duckling and ask: What do you know about this story? What can stories teach us? to introduce the theme.
2. Students look at the pictures in 1a, predict the order of the story events, and share their ideas.
二、自主学习
Read the story adapted from Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling. Discuss the question with a partner.
- Is the ugly duckling a real duck?
三、合作探究
1. Read again and answer the questions.
- How was the ugly duckling different from the other ducklings in size and colour?
- How was he similar to them?
- What did the ugly duckling search for? Why?
- What did the swans look like? Were they friendly to the ugly duckling?
- What do you think the story teaches us?
2. Match the characters with their opinions. Can you give these characters any advice? Share your ideas.
四、展示拓展
1. In groups, students take turns retelling The Ugly Duckling using their mind maps.
- Invite group representatives to retell in front of the class; use a rubric for peer assessment.
2. Introducing the Writing Task
- Present the beginning of The Fisherman and the Genie and clarify the writing task: write an ending.
- Students read the sample text (2a) and analyze its structure (opening, development, climax, ending) and tense (simple past).
3. Pre-writing
- In groups, students discuss possible directions for the ending and list key points.
- Students extract useful sentences from the sample and learn to describe emotions and environmental changes.
4. Independent Writing
- Students write the first draft of the story ending (7 minutes) based on their outline and key points.
五、检测反馈
Students self-assess their first draft using the evaluation rubric and revise it into a second draft.
- In pairs, students exchange drafts, give constructive feedback, and further improve their writing.
- The teacher selects a few pieces to share and discusses common issues.
六、归纳总结
1. Review the moral of The Ugly Duckling: Don’t judge by appearance. Everyone has inner beauty.
