Is it spring? No, it’s not spring. It’s the endless cycle of
time. The earth is waking up—so lively and touching.
Lv Yuxia is a fruit farmer from Shandong, but she doesn’t
just grow fruit. The 53-year-old woman loves classical poetry
from her childhood. She uses poems to show country life’s
beauty. Her field-poem videos are now popular online. People
love her creativity. They say her poems “grow from the earth
and mix with time”.
Han Shimei, a 54-year-old woman from Henan, is another
“farmer poet”. She spent most of her life caring for family and
farming. But she writes poems too. One poem paints a country
night: “Pine trees relax, hugging mountains; the moon smiles,
slipping into hills’ cracks.”
Han started sharing poems on social media in 2020. At
first, she didn’t think she was a poet. With netizens’(网友)
support, she wrote more. Now she writes over 300 poems a
year. In 2023, a book of her poems came out. UN Women even
asked her to share her story. “Poetry opened a new world for
me,” Han says. “Without it, I’d only see what’s right in front
of my eyes. Writing lets me see a bigger world bravely.”
Some doubt if farmers without training can write well. Do
they use AI? Lv says her poems have her real feelings and life
stories. “AI doesn’t know my life. It can’t write rural(乡村的)
poems,” she says. Han agrees. Her poems come from watching
nature. Writing helps her feel alive. Machines can’t copy that.
For these women, poetry isn’t just words. It’s a bridge
