B Since January, Suzhou City in Anhui Province has rolled out a series of initiatives to boost the physical and mental health development of adolescents, which are already showing strong results. For instance, at the city’s minor psychological health counseling center, teenagers can release stress and stay active using equipment such as VR exercise bikes and inflatable (需充气的) boxing targets. This year alone, the center has conducted psychological assessments for more than 1 million teachers and students. Miao Xunhong, mother of student Wang Zicheng, says she can see the positive influence of sports on her child. “My son has been playing basketball for two years. Since joining team sports, he is more eager to go out, socialize and exercise even on rest days. His psychological assessment results have also improved,” she says. “The benefits of sports now extend beyond the court, campus and into our home. As my son has become more lively and outgoing, our relationship has improved. Furthermore, through competitions, winning and losing, he has learned resilience, helping him develop reflective abilities and a tougher mindset,” Miao adds. This year, Suzhou has also begun collaborating with schools to build a sports talent cultivation system. Professional coaches visit schools weekly to co-teach physical education classes with schoolteachers and provide after-school training sessions. Xu Guoxuan, a fifth-grade primary school student, discovered table tennis through one such class. “I first played table tennis in a PE class. After being selected by the coach, I attend classes during the day and practice after school. I don’t need to go to a specialized club, and I can even compete in tournaments. This daily routine is easy for me to balance,” Xu says. Ding Pengman, head coach of Suzhou’s municipal table tennis team, emphasizes the program’s value: “We are in schools four days a week. Besides professional instruction, what matters more is the inspiration our experience brings, which sparks real interest.” 24. What does the sports program in Suzhou essentially aim to do? A. Organize city-wide sports competitions for students. B. Establish a professional sports talent training system. C. Support the overall well-being of young people. D. Enrich school PE courses with external resources. 25. What is the mother’s attitude toward her son’s involvement in sports? A. Appreciative. B. Critical. C. Doubtful. D. Neutral. 26. The word “resilience” in Para. 5 most likely refers to the ability to ________. A. face challenges with great confidence B. recover quickly from setbacks C. remain calm under pressure D. keep an optimistic attitude 27. How does the passage present the success of Suzhou’s initiatives? A. By providing detailed statistical reports. B. By making comparisons with other regions. C. By focusing on future plans and potential. D. By offering evidence from multiple sources. C Can music help you concentrate at work? Researchers from the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff conducted a new study, and it has some interesting results. The research examined the ability of 25 people, aged 18 to 30, to remember information while listening to various sounds. In one task they had to remember a list of eight consonant (辅音) letters, which were dictated to them. Participants in the study were tested under three different conditions: in a quiet environment, while listening to music they liked, and while listening to music they didn’t like. The participants generally did better when they were working in silence. The background music seemed to make memorization and recall more difficult. However, scientists also found that listening to music before doing the tests seemed to help concentration. “Despite describing their self-selected music as more pleasant, their performance was poor, just as it was when they listened to music they disliked,” explained one of the researchers. So, even if you’re listening to music you like, it’ll still interfere with your work. This would appear to contradict the findings of scientists who have researched what is popularly known as the “Mozart Effect”. This concept was invented by French scientist Dr. Alfred A. Tomatitis in 1991. Tomatitis published a book, Why Mozart?, which described what he believed were the healing powers of listening to Mozart’s music. He also suggested that Mozart’s music could aid brain development. Later studies indicated it might enhance children’s spatial intelligence, leading to a widespread belief that classical music could boost a child’s IQ. The governor of the state of Georgia even once advocated allocating over $100,000 annually to supply classical CDs to every newborn in the state. Another study seemed to further contradict the idea that music could help with concentration. The researchers found that surveyed university students mostly preferred studying in silence. Those listening to music preferred instrumental songs, saying that lyrics are distracting. So, if you’re studying for an exam, turn off your music! 28. Under which condition did participants perform best in the University of Wales study? A. Prior exposure to music. B. Listening to disliked music. C. Working in silence. D. Listening to favorite music. 29. What is suggested about the impact of the “Mozart Effect”? A. It has led to some real-world practices. B. It has been proven to enhance adult intelligence. C. It mainly promotes the enjoyment of classical music. D. It originates from governmental educational policies. 30. What is paragraph 7 mainly about? A. Lyrics distract more than tunes. B. Instrumental music aids concentration. C. Students’ music tastes vary widely. D. Quiet is often preferred for study. 31. What can be inferred about background music? A. It best aids creative work. B. Its effects are inconsistent across studies. C. It improves performance in concentration tasks. D. It affects people differently based on preference. D Polar bears are often the poster children for the impacts of climate change because of how much they rely on the ice for survival. Less ice forces these powerful predators to swim further to find food or spend more time on land living off fat reserves. Many polar bear populations are at risk of starvation. These polar bears are getting fatter as sea ice melts. What’s going on? To find out what might be going on, researchers looked at the body size and chest circumference of 770 adult polar bears captured during this monitoring between 1992 and 2019. Leaner polar bears, with less fat stores to see them through hard times, can be an early warning sign of a struggling population, so body condition can indicate how a population is faring.  Scientists had predicted that diminishing (逐渐减少的) sea ice would leave polar bears thinner and in poorer body condition, and Jon Aars, the lead author from the Norwegian Polar Institute, who observed rapid ice loss in Svalbard, expected this trend to harm the local bears’ physical state. Their new findings revealed the opposite. The bears’ body condition decreased between 1995 and 2000 before improving again, even though the region was rapidly losing sea ice after 2000. “I was a bit surprised when we found that it had actually increased instead of decreasing,” says Aars. “It’s good news that they have coped so well, despite nowhere else in the Arctic having sea ice disappear at this rate.” This doesn’t mean the bears aren’t affected by climate change. They have been forced to spend more time on land hunting less energy-rich foods, such as seabird eggs, and swim further between hunting and mating grounds. They have also lost important denning areas. “The good news is that they’re still in good health,” Aars says. One cause is Svalbard bears preying on more land animals like reindeer, whose numbers rebounded after overhunting, supplying summer food when bears usually fast. Reduced ice may also cluster ringed seals tightly, making them easier to hunt. This is only a small window of hope, not long-term safety. Experts warn the ecosystem could hit a irreversible tipping point, and future conditions for the bears will grow harsher. Other Arctic subpopulations decline with less ice, and each group is shaped by its local habitat. Although these polar bears are currently doing well, that won’t continue if the ice disappears completely, says Aars: “You don’t have polar bears anywhere where you don’t have sea ice for part of the year.” 32. How does the passage start? A. By stating a common belief. B. By describing a disaster scene. C. By introducing poster children. D. By raising a heated issue. 33. Which study design is similar to that in the passage? A. Check exercises to note weak learners’ personal growth. B. Mark quiz scores to judge top students’ class progress. C. Grade all papers to check the whole class’s true level. D. Review all mistakes to test whole-unit knowledge grasp. 34. Why does Jon Aars say “The good news is that they’re still in good health”? A They keep healthy by getting enough food amid sea ice loss. B. Enough food helps them stay healthy despite ice reduction. C. Sea ice loss has little effect on their health condition. D. Their diet adjustment helps deal with ice loss well. 35. What does Jon Aars express at the end? A. Hope for partial climate adaptation. B. Concern about ice-free survival. C. Optimism about temporary security. D. Worry about ecosystem loss. Though positivity isn’t what everyone is born with, we can grow more positive with practice. The autumn rain had been pouring down endlessly, transforming roads into muddy streams. Lila, a seventeen-year-old art enthusiast with dreams bigger than her small town, stood totally hopeless at the bus stop, holding her painting book tightly. The last bus to the city’s annual art competition had left. Her lifelong dream seemed to slide away with every raindrop. For months, she had poured her soul into preparing her contest entry-a delicate watercolor capturing the town’s old bookstore. Just as hot tears of frustration welled up, the sound of tires approached. A rusty blue car, looking as worn and kind as its owner, pulled over. An elderly man with glasses and kind eyes rolled down the window. “You look like you could use a lift,” he said gently. After a moment’s hesitation, Lila explained her dilemma. “What a delightful coincidence! I’m heading to the city library myself,” the man said, introducing himself as Mr. Hale with a warm smile that wrinkled the corners of his eyes. Overflowing with gratitude, Lila climbed into the passenger seat. Noticing her painting book, he asked about her art. Hesitantly, she showed him her painting. “Why, that’s my old bookstore!” Mr. Hale exclaimed, his eyes lighting up. “You’ve captured its soul.” He shared how he had loved painting in his youth too, building an instant connection. Lila’s anxiety began to fade as they chatted about art and stories. However, as they neared the city limits, the car broke down. Mr. Hale tried repeatedly, but the engine died. He sighed apologetically. “It must have been the rain.” Lila’s heart sank. The competition venue was still a fifteen-minute drive away. The rain continued its steady rhythm against the windshield She looked at her painting book, then at Mr. Hale’s worried face, the earlier warmth in the car replaced by an awkward silence. Lila reached into her backpack and pulled out the small toolbox. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When they finally arrived at the competition hall, the competition was about to begin. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 兴平市南郊高级中学 2025-2026学年度第二学期第七次质量检测 高三年级英语试题 时间:120分钟 满分:150分 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共 5小题, 每小题 1.5分;满分7.5 分) 听下面5段对话。 What does the woman say about her mother? Sharing your hobbies. B. Showing your sincerity. C. Making your talk funny. C 18. C 19. B 20. W: Have you ever wished you were better at making a conversation? A great talker is someone who connects with people and makes them feel important. When they talk to you, they make you feel you’re the only person in the room. Becoming a good talker requires knowing three things: first, how to start a conversation; second, how to keep it going; and third, how to end it. Starting a conversation usually means coming up with an opening line or icebreaker. The best kind of icebreaker is one that makes people happy. Praise is always a good icebreaker and will usually be welcomed. The last thing people want to hear from a stranger is how noisy the party is, how terrible the food is, or how ugly the people are dressed. But don’t attempt to be the smartest person in the room. No one is expected to know everything. Anyway, the fact is, the best way to attract a person to keep a conversation with you is by being sincere and respectful, and letting them know that you are interested in talking to them. A The Fort Lauderdale Grand Hotel is a convenient and affordable option for travelers. 故选A项。 根据第四段中的“The hotel is near various restaurants, sporting venues, and shopping malls. 通读全文以及根据第一段“The Fort Lauderdale Grand Hotel is a convenient and affordable option for travelers. Here, you will have an awesome array of amenities(便利设施), a great location with convenient access to Fort Lauderdale’s main roadways, and clean rooms that offer the feelings of home. C 25. A 26. B 27. 根据第一段“Since January, Suzhou City in Anhui Province has rolled out a series of initiatives to boost the physical and mental health development of adolescents, which are already showing strong results.(自今年1月以来,安徽省宿州市推出了一系列举措以促进青少年的身心健康发展,这些举措已初显成效)”可知,所有举措的根本目的是促进青少年的身心健康,即支持他们的整体福祉。 根据第四段“Since joining team sports, he is more eager to go out, socialize and exercise even on rest days. His psychological assessment results have also improved(自从参加团队运动以来,他愈发渴望外出、与人交往以及进行锻炼,甚至在休息日也是如此。他的心理评估结果也有所改善)”以及第五段“The benefits of sports now extend beyond the court, campus and into our home. As my son has become more lively and outgoing, our relationship has improved.(如今,体育运动带来的益处已不再局限于球场、校园,而是延伸到了我们的家中)”可知,苗训红是欣赏、赞同的态度。故选A。 根据第五段“Furthermore, through competitions, winning and losing, he has learned resilience, helping him develop reflective abilities and a tougher mindset(此外,通过各种竞赛,无论是获胜还是失败,他都学会了resilience,这帮助他培养了反思能力以及更为坚强的心态)”可知,后置定语“helping him develop reflective abilities and a tougher mindset”是对“resilience”的具体解释。 D。 C Can music help you concentrate at work? C 29. A 30. D 31. 根据第三段“The participants generally did better when they were working in silence.(参与者们在安静的环境中工作时表现通常会更好)”可知,参与者在完全安静的环境下表现最佳。 根据第六段“He also suggested that Mozart’s music could aid brain development. Later studies indicated it might enhance children’s spatial intelligence, leading to a widespread belief that classical music could boost a child’s IQ. The governor of the state of Georgia even once advocated allocating over $100,000 annually to supply classical CDs to every newborn in the state.(他还指出,莫扎特的音乐有助于大脑发育。 故选A。 根据第七段“Another study seemed to further contradict the idea that music could help with concentration. The researchers found that surveyed university students mostly preferred studying in silence. Those listening to music preferred instrumental songs, saying that lyrics are distracting.(另一项研究似乎进一步反驳了音乐有助于提高注意力这一观点。 B。 D Polar bears are often the poster children for the impacts of climate change because of how much they rely on the ice for survival Less ice forces these powerful predators to swim further to find food or spend more time on land living off fat reserves. A. They keep healthy by getting enough food amid sea ice loss. B. Enough food helps them stay healthy despite ice reduction. C. Sea ice loss has little effect on their health condition. D. Their diet adjustment helps deal with ice loss well. 35 What does Jon Aars express at the end? A. Hope for partial climate adaptation. B. Concern about ice-free survival. C. Optimism about temporary security. D. Worry about ecosystem loss. A 33. C 34. D 35. 根据第一段“Polar bears are often the poster children for the impacts of climate change because of how much they rely on the ice for survival. Less ice forces these powerful predators to swim further to find food or spend more time on land living off fat reserves. Many polar bear populations are at risk of starvation. These polar bears are getting fatter as sea ice melts. 故选A项。 根据第二段“To find out what might be going on, researchers looked at the body size and chest circumference of 770 adult polar bears captured during this monitoring between 1992 and 2019. Leaner polar bears, with less fat stores to see them through hard times, can be an early warning sign of a struggling population, so body condition can indicate how a population is faring.(为了弄清楚可能发生了什么,研究人员查看了1992年至2019年监测期间捕获的770只成年北极熊的体型和胸围。 根据倒数第三段“One cause is Svalbard bears preying on more land animals like reindeer, whose numbers rebounded after overhunting, supplying summer food when bears usually fast. Reduced ice may also cluster ringed seals tightly, making them easier to hunt.(一个原因是斯瓦尔巴群岛的北极熊捕食更多像驯鹿这样的陆地动物,驯鹿数量在过度捕猎后有所回升,在北极熊通常禁食的夏季提供食物。 由此推知,Jon Aars说“The good news is that they’re still in good health(好消息是它们仍然健康)”是因为它们的饮食调整帮助它们很好地应对了海冰减少的情况。 由最后一段“Although these polar bears are currently doing well, that won’t continue if the ice disappears completely, says Aars: “You don’t have polar bears anywhere where you don’t have sea ice for part of the year.”(Aars说,尽管这些北极熊目前状况良好,但如果海冰完全消失,这种情况就不会持续下去。“一年中部分时间没有海冰的地方,就不会有北极熊。”)”可知,Aars表明若海冰完全消失,北极熊将无处生存,表达了对北极熊在无冰环境下生存的担忧。故选B项。 第二节 七选五(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Though positivity isn’t what everyone is born with we can grow more positive with practice. 【36题详解】 上文“One of the mistakes people make is trying to avoid or ignore negative experiences. 这为下文“However, trying to avoid... actually damages...” 【37题详解】 下文“Your body and your mind are connected. If you’re struggling to feel positive, it could be because your body is working against you. Social psychologist Amy Cuddy has shown that your posture can affect the levels of stress hormones in your body. Try standing up straight. Hold your shoulders back and your chest forward. Hold your gaze in front of you. 故选A项。 【38题详解】 上文“Try standing up straight. Hold your shoulders back and your chest forward. Hold your gaze in front of you. 【39题详解】 上文“Compassion is doing something kind for someone else, especially if that person is less fortunate than you are. It can really boost your positivity. D选项“Think of ways that you can serve others (思考你可以服务他人的方式)”顺承上文,给出了将同情心付诸实践的具体建议,即思考如何“serve others (服务他人)”。下文“whether it’s on an individual level or in your community, and practice showing compassion. 【40题详解】 上文“A common misperception is that people only need to see a therapist when there’s something wrong. G选项“Actually, you go to the doctor for annual checkups even if you’re not sick (事实上,即使你没有生病,你也会每年去看医生做体检)”通过类比(看医生做体检),有力地反驳了上述误解,说明了寻求专业帮助也可以是预防性的、维护整体健康的正常行为。这与下文“seeing a therapist can also be a helpful preventive technique (看治疗师也可以是一种有用的预防技巧)”的观点完全一致,并为该观点提供了生动的例证。 Last year on Mother’s Day morning, I was at the supermarket with my five-year-old son, Tenyson. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Lila reached into her backpack and pulled out the small toolbox. “Maybe this can help,” she offered. Mr. Hale’s eyes lit up with renewed hope. Braving the rain, they popped the hood(引擎盖). With Lila assisting, the old man quickly spotted the issue — a loose battery cable. He selected a wrench from the toolbox and tightened it firmly. Upon turning the key, the engine roared back to life! They looked at each other, faces bright with triumph. The trusty toolbox, once an unnecessary weight, had become their salvation(救星). When they finally arrived at the competition hall, the competition was about to begin. Lila rushed in, breathless but grateful. She submitted her painting just in time. Later, she learned she had won the top prize. The true reward, however, was Mr. Hale’s invitation to hang her painting in his bookstore. Seeing her artwork displayed there, capturing the soul of the place she loved, she felt it more meaningful than any trophy. It was a perfect reminder of a day when preparation, kindness, and a little toolbox kept a dream alive. 词汇激活 行为类 ①帮助:help /assist ②发现:spot /find ③匆忙:rush /hurry 情绪类 ①希望:hope /expectation ②感激的:grgrateful /appreciative 【点睛】[高分句型 1] With Lila assisting, the old man quickly spotted the issue—a loose battery cable.
