This is the home of Dawa Drolma, a young woman who is breathing new life into the ancient art. Dawa comes from a family deeply rooted in Lima copper casting. This complex technique, which involves a special mixture of gold, silver, tin, zinc, and other metals, has been passed down for six generations in her family. The artworks are beautiful. However, growing up, Dawa witnessed the challenges of bringing these treasures beyond her remote hometown. Determined to make a change, she traveled to the United States to pursue marketing and business management studies in 2013. In 2017, armed with global vision, new skills and insights, Dawa returned home. She and her brother worked together to transform the family business. They expanded the workshop, introduced innovative product designs that appealed to modern tastes and used online platforms to reach a wider audience. The strategy worked. Today, their Lima copper creations, ranging from traditional statues to modern cultural goods, are sold worldwide. The workshop has become profitable, helping pay off family debts and creating jobs for local artisans. More importantly, it has changed how the local community views their own culture. “When I was a child, career plans were unclear for most of us. Now, many children dream of becoming artisans,” Dawa said. Dawa’s story is a leading example of how tradition and innovation can work together. Maisu now takes pride in over 30 handicraft workshops, proving that with the right approach, ancient crafts can stay alive in the modern world. 4. What is a feature of Lima copper casting? A. It has a long history. B. It’s easy to produce. C. It’s made of pure gold. D. It needs new materials. 5. How did Dawa transform her family workshop? A. By expanding online platforms. B. The artwork has inspired the young generation. B. Many people thought she was just daydreaming. C. The children are eager to leave the remote valley. D. The future for the children in the valley is unclear. 7. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. The Future of a Local Artist B. The Dream of a Young Woman C. The Rebirth of an Ancient Craft D. The Secret of a Traditional Art C In contrast to the often-heard views that robots will replace human workers, researchers from Gartner predict that artificial intelligence (AI) may actually create more jobs than it’s expected to take away. By 2020, artificial intelligence had created 2.3 million jobs, going beyond the 1.8 million that it had replaced, the company said in a recent report. In the following five years to 2025, net (净得的) new jobs created in relation to AI reached 2 million, according to the report. The number of jobs affected will be different from industry to industry. The public sector (公共部门), health care and education are expected to get the most jobs, while manufacturing (制造业) and transportation may be hit the hardest, said Gartner’s research director, Manjunath Bhat. “Robots are not here to take away our jobs; they’re here to give us a promotion. I think that’s the way we should start looking at AI,” Bhat told reporters on Tuesday. Gartner’s positive predictions contrast with the warnings on the dangers of AI sounded by top technology industry voices such as Kai-Fu Lee, the founder of venture capital firm Sinovation Ventures. He said robots are likely to replace 50 percent of all jobs in the next decade. Gartner acknowledged in its report that AI would cut millions of middle-and low-level positions. But it stressed that more new jobs would be created, including highly-skilled jobs, management positions and even low-skilled jobs. “IT leaders should not only focus on the projected increase of jobs,” the report said. “For the greatest value, focus on improving people with AI. Enrich people’s jobs, reimagine old tasks and create new industries. Change your culture to make it rapidly adaptable to AI-related opportunities or threats.” 8. What does research firm Gartner think of artificial intelligence? A. Human workers will be out of work. B. AI will create more jobs than it cuts. C. AI will run out of human control. D. New industries will replace old ones. 9. Who are most likely to lose their jobs according to Gartner? A. Teachers. B. Dentists. C. Bus drivers. D. Social workers. 10. What’s Kai-Fu Lee’s attitude towards the development of AI? A. Uncertain. B. Hopeful. C. Worried. D. Confused. 11. What does research firm Gartner suggest IT leaders do? A. Take advantage of new industry opportunities. B. Provide people with training programmes. C. Stop the old business and turn to new business. D. Welcome AI and adapt to changes brought by it. D Wildfires are not always harmful to forests. In many ecosystems, fire helps remove accumulated debris (堆积的枯落物), returns nutrients to the soil, and supports healthy regeneration. For more than 100 years, the United States has invested billions of dollars in suppressing (压制) wildfires to protect communities, infrastructure, and sensitive landscapes. While this approach has reduced immediate risks, it has also limited the natural fires that forests depend on, increasing the likelihood of larger and more intense fires in the future. New research shows that nearly 38 million hectares of land in the western United States have burned less often than they historically should have. Researchers describe this widespread shortfall as a “fire deficit”. “Conditions are getting so warm and dry that it’s causing huge amounts of fire compared to the historical record,” said Winslow Hansen, director of the Western Fire and Forest Resilience Collaborative and scientist at Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies. “However, we are still observing the tradition of 150 years of fire suppression. Together, drying conditions and overly dense fuels indicate a more challenging and fiery future.” To identify where fire has been missing, researchers relied on geospatial evidence including soil samples. The data helped establish historical fire return periods, which were then constructed using the Landfire program to compare past fire activity with modern patterns. The researchers found that 74% of the western United States is now in a “fire deficit”. Closing that gap will require roughly 3.8 million hectares of forest to burn each year for the next decade. Although the scale of needed burning is daunting, Hansen and his co-workers say it can be addressed using a mix of approaches. These include mechanical thinning to remove excess vegetation and leaving some wildfires burning under controlled conditions. “There are still lots of wildfires that burn today... that are reducing our fuel loads and revitalizing ecosystems,” said Hansen. “Instead of suppressing those fires and putting them out, we’ve got to let them do good ecological work to help us tackle this challenge when risk is low.” 12. What can constantly suppressing wildfires lead to according to paragraph 1? A. Increased immediate risks. B. Healthier soil regeneration. C. Naturally stable ecosystems. D. More dangerous future fires. 13. What does the new research find about the western United States? A. Conditions are getting less warm. B. Fire suppression brings many benefits. C. Over half of its land is in need of wildfires. D. A century-old tradition is left behind. 14. Which of the following can replace the underlined word “daunting” in paragraph 5? A Unpredictable. B. Alarming. C. Artificial. D. Inappropriate. 15. What is Hansen’s advice for addressing low-risk wildfires? A. Take preventive measures. B. Call for joint efforts. C. Prioritize suppressing them. D. Let nature take its course. 第二节(共5个小题,每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Running is a great way to get fit, feel better and even form new relationships with other runners. ___16___ All it takes is a comfortable pair of shoes and a willingness to move a little or a lot, all at your own pace. Everyone was excited about the upcoming summer vacation, but not Tommy. He sat quietly at his desk, staring at the empty chair in the front row— the one where Mrs. Lee used to sit. Mrs. Lee had been their English teacher for three years. She was kind, patient, and always had a way of making even the most difficult grammar rules seem fun. Beyond the classroom, she had poured her heart into restoring the school’s neglected garden, transforming it into a living learning space called “The Sunflower Corner”. She had encouraged students to plant seeds, tend to the flowers, and find joy in watching life grow. It was Mrs. Lee who had guided Tommy’s hesitant hands to plant his first sunflower, helping him overcome his shyness through the quiet language of gardening. The garden had become her lively lesson in patience and care, touching every student who worked in it. But a week before, Mrs. Lee had announced she was retiring due to a sudden illness. Tommy was heartbroken. He wanted to give her a special gift to show his gratitude, something that would remind her of the living legacy (遗产) she had planted at school. He had an idea. Mrs. Lee loved sunflowers, which she often said symbolized hope and growth. Tommy decided to bring her a potted sunflower from the very garden they had tended together. After school, he carefully selected one from “The Sunflower Corner”, its young face following the afternoon light. He then made his way to Mrs. Lee’s home, carrying the plant with gentle determination. When he arrived, he knocked on the door. A woman who looked like Mrs. Lee answered. “Can I help you?” she asked. Tommy explained that he was a student of Mrs. Lee’s and had a gift for her. “I’m her sister,” the woman said. “She’s resting right now. She’s been very tired lately. But she would be so happy to see you. Come in.” 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。 Tommy entered the house and was led to a bedroom. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With Mrs. Lee’s trust Tommy felt a deep responsibility to care for the garden. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 衡阳市一中2026年上学期高一入学考试 英语试题 考试时间:120分钟 总分:150分 第一部分 听力(共两节,每小题1.5分,共30分) 第一节 听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段对话读两遍。 1. A. Unpredictable. B. Alarming. C. Artificial. D. Inappropriate. 15. What is Hansen’s advice for addressing low-risk wildfires? A. Take preventive measures. B. Call for joint efforts. C. Prioritize suppressing them. D. Let nature take its course. 【答案】12. D 13. C 14. B 15. The Well Guide makes it easy to get started, get inspired and stay on track. The absolute best way to keep yourself running is to find a race, sign up for it, pay for it and put it on your calendar. ___17___ A beginner can run any race — you just need to allow enough time to train for it. Pick your distance and use an online race finder like the Runner’s World Race or the Running UAS Race Map to help you find the right race for you. Some people are natural heel- strikers whose heels touch the ground first while others tend to lead with their toes. ___18___ And you are less likely to become injured if you simply maintain your natural stride. The more you run, the more comfortable that stride will feel and — even better — the more efficient your body will become. While most runners focus on shoes, socks can be important too. Blisters from bunched- up socks are painful and could prevent you from running for days. ___19___ Some running socks are made from a material that draws sweat away from your feet, preventing bacteria from accumulating between your toes which inevitably leads to smelly feet. ___20___ While there has been recent evidence that static stretching— holding a stretch for a period of time — can prevent serious muscle injuries like tears or strains, such types of injuries are uncommon in runners. In fact, holding a stretch too long can even make your muscles less powerful. A. However, people find it hard to get started. B. You need comfortable socks that let through air. C. You’d better hold a stretch before getting started. D. Starting a new running habit doesn’t have to be hard. E. You don’t have to waste your time stretching on the roadside. F. Lee’s trust, Tommy felt a deep responsibility to care for the garden. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Tommy entered the house and was led to a bedroom. Lying quietly on the bed was Mrs. Lee, looking pale but still wearing a gentle smile. Seeing Tommy, her eyes lit up with surprise and warmth. Tommy stepped forward carefully and handed her the vibrant sunflower. “It’s from our Sunflower Corner,” he said softly. Mrs. Lee’s eyes fluttered open, and a warm smile spread across her face. “Thank you, Tommy,” she said weakly. “This sunflower will remind me of all the growth we shared. Promise me you’ll keep the garden alive.” Without hesitation, Tommy nodded firmly, promising to keep the garden thriving. With Mrs. Lee’s trust, Tommy felt a deep responsibility to care for the garden. Each summer afternoon, he headed to the Sunflower Corner to water, weed and tend to the plants patiently. He also invited his classmates to join him, sharing what Mrs. Lee had taught them about growth and patience. As time passed, the garden bloomed even more beautifully, with tall sunflowers turning toward the sun. The garden became a living reminder of Mrs. Lee’s kindness and love. Tommy not only guarded the garden but also grew into a confident inhering boy carrying on the warm legacy his beloved teacher had left behind. 词汇激活 行为类 ①递给:hand/give ②保护:guard/protect ③照料:tend to/take care of 情绪类 ①温和的:gentle/soft ②善良:kindness/goodness 【点睛】[高分句型1].
