Antigua(安提瓜岛), Guatemala(危地马拉) is a place where time stopped three centuries ago. It is one of the most beautiful cities in Central America. In this city, you can feel what life was like in the past.
You can see buildings that people designed in the 1700s. you can walk in the streets and look at the Spanish facades(门面), see the Cathedral of San Jose and visit the church.
I have visited this city a lot of times because I like it so much, but I will never forget my first time in this city. I was 12 years old when I first discovered the streets covered with small stones, the houses with big windows and beautiful gardens, the old buildings, the people from different cultures walking around the central park, and the natives wearing the typical multi-coloured clothes and talking with the tourists to try to sell their products.
I still remember the taste of the candies from the Kona Maria Cordillo Store and the smell of hot chocolate and banana bread from the Dona Luisa Chicothencalh Restaurant.
Antigua mixes the past with the present, and I think this is one of the reasons that make people who visit this city feel delighted.
To me, thinking about Antigua, Guatemala is like traveling back to another time. If you have the opportunity to travel to Guatemala and you want to travel back to old times, you must visit this beautiful city.

15 October 2013, Yang Liwei flew into space as the first Chinese astronaut. On the afternoon of 27 September 2008, Astronaut Zhai Zhigang became the first Chinese to walk into space. More and more Chinese astronauts will go into outer space to explore the mystery and carry out research experiments.
Space travel is not an easy journey. It is no walk in the park. If you think being an astronaut is just fun and attraction, you might need to read up on all the side effects. Have you noticed that when the spacecraft rose into space, astronauts’ faces turned a little unusual? They puffed out. Do you know why?
Two-thirds of our bodies are made up of fluids(流体). On the Earth, gravity pulls most of the fluids towards our legs. When one stands, the blood pressure in the feet can as high as about 200 mmHg. In the head, however, it’s only 60 to 80 mmHg. In space the gravity that one feels on the Earth is missing. Much blood rises into one’s head from the feet and legs, and leads to equal blood pressure throughout the body—about 100 mmHg.
More blood gathers in one’s head, and it pushes the skin one the face outwards and makes his or her face look puffy(胀大的). As a result, the extra fluid in the head may lead to blocked noses and some other unexpected problems. Meanwhile, because much blood is leaving the feet and legs, his or her feet have lower blood pressure and become thinner, creating what some people call “bird legs”.
When an astronaut returns to the Earth, his or her blood is influenced by gravity again. Because of the effects of gravity, much blood leaves the head and goes back to the feet and legs and his or her faces are no longer puffy.
( )30. The third and the fourth paragraphs mainly tell us_________.
A. what zero gravity means B. how fluids flow in our body
C. how hard astronauts work D. why astronauts’ faces turn puffy in space
( )31. We can infer from the article that___________.

A. Astronauts’ Puffy Faces B. Astronauts’ Hard Life
C. Chinese Astronauts D. Difficult Space Travel

When Henry Walter drives down the street and one of the songs he’s written plays on the radio, he was lost in thought. “Every day, I’m thankful,” he says. “I pinch(掐) myself; this is crazy.” But sometimes, the 27-year-old Ottawa native, who writes and produces music, wonders, “Am I ever going to have a hit again? How long can I keep this song?”
Walter has been working in L.A. for the past three years. He’s spent most of it at the right hand of hit making producer Dr. Luke, whose achievements are unusual. In that time, Walter has changed from an assistant to a collaborator who produces works directly with the stars. “It’s easy enough to get in the room with some of these people once,” says he.
As for the talent, in his teens, Walter discovered a gift for programming music on computers. After high school, he moved to Toronto and continued making beats with long-time friend Adrien Gough.
The thin Walter is polite, pleasant and very focused. Sitting on a chair in the live room of Dream House, the studio he built with Gough and producer Alex Bonenfant, he thinks a loton the first time Luke asked him to work with him, “I didn’t know what to think,” says Walter. “It was like, ‘Am just going to be locked in a room for 16 hours a day making beats? Is he crazy?’” But he found they complemented each other.
Dr. Luke has said he wants his songs to “be fun and spread joy”. Walter adds, “I like more dark, emotional and strange songs, too.” Before L.A., he had produced the song High for This for Toronto R&B star the Weeknd.

There are some plants that can make your food tasty and make your home smell nice at the same time. 37 They are the herbs rosemary(迷迭香)and bay laurel(月桂).
Both plants do well inside, near a sunny window in the cold weather as long as the temperature is warm and you keep them watered. Experts say it is important to keep these plants “happy and alive” in the cooler months. 38
For rosemary, the water level in the soil is very important. The plant needs soil that is a little bit wet all the time but never too wet. 39 You can plant rosemary in a container with soil that contains about 25 percent sand.
Rosemary not only can add a nice taste to food but it also can make the room smell good. So if you have it growing inside, it is a good idea to place the container near an airflow(气流)source, like a door that is used often. 40
Bay laurel has dark, green leaves and produces a nice smell when picked. When added to food, it makes soups and tomato sauces taste better. You need to crush(捣碎)the leaves after you pick them to release the flavor.
A. So, how do you do it?
B. Too much water will kill the plant.
C. Let me introduce two plants of this kind.
D. Scientists are doing some research on it.
E. That way the pleasant smell of rosemary floats through the air.
F. It’s not a good idea to plant both of them outside.

If you have a chance to learn by yourself, what might you do? Perhaps you choose to practice football skills; you would prefer to discuss something together; and you might just read. This is the most important thing of “unschooling”. It is also known as “natural learning” or “independent learning”.
For this kind of educational practice, people think differently. Here are their comments (意见).
Know More
Schooling is education that children receive at school.
Home schooling is the practice of educating that children learn at home with a parent or a tutor.
Unschooling is an educational practice that allows children to decide how, what and where they want to learn.
Agree
Independent learning teaches children to be responsible for themselves. With no teacher around, children must manage themselves, and this is a really important skill for later life.
Unschooling allows children to learn what they are really interested in. If learning is enjoyable, it’s more successful.
Very young children learn in a natural way. Without being taught, they know colors and voices, they learn smiling and walking. Why shouldn’t people continue to learn like this?
Unschooling gives children more time for sports, volunteering and museum or park visits. They may meet different people who share their interests.
Disagree
Unschooling requires parents’ support and attention. They need to create a learning space that excites children and remind them of their daily routines.
Teachers can push children to learn what they don’t enjoy but can be important later in life.
Unschooling sounds too good to be true. It can be helpful when children are very young. But it puts too much pressure on children because they can learn difficult subjects easily only with teachers’ help.
Unschooling happens at home, so children could have less contact with others at their age. This means they could end up becoming shy.
When deciding how you are going to learn, it’s necessary to think about which works. Choose what is suitable for you and what can have a positive influence on your growth.
41. Whose support and attention do children need when they experience unschooling?

42. How can children become successful in learning?
