Before I was in Grade Three,I didn't like to help others.I would get irritated
when someone asked me for help. Then things changed.
One cloudy day, when I was walkiug to school,I met a tall man.Carrying a long thin stick
and wearing sunglasses,he stood at the crossing.I found this a little strange as it was early in
the moming and yet he was wearing sunglasses. But I didn't think much about it and crossed
the road.
When Lreached the:other side, suddenly I heard cars sounding their horns ()I turned
around and,saw thatithe man was in the middle of the road.It seemed that he was too scared to
move.Just thenelknew that the man wasn't able to see.I ran quickly back to him and helped
him cross the road. The man turned his head to me and said,"Thank you very much for your
kind help.”
It made me feel good to hear those words. In fact,I felt so good that I asked him where he
was going and if he needed more help.He told me that he was going to a supermarket, which
was not far from my school.I walked with him to the supermarket and then went to school.
From that day on,I often tried to help people in need. And now,I volunteer to help out at the
old people's home in front of my home every Sunday afternoon.Being helpful makes me happy
and I no louger find it irritating.
