I. Teaching Objectives

III. Teaching Procedures
Step 1: Pronunciation Practice
Review
Review the three pronunciations of the verbs learned in the previous lesson. Ask students to read it aloud, paying attention to the pronunciation of the -ed ending of the verbs. Play the audio for students to listen and check.
Step 2: Listening - Radio Interview
1. Pre-listening: Prediction & Strategy Training
Prediction: Show the notes in Part B and ask students to predict the key information (time, place, things taken, weather, safety tips) .
Listening Strategies:
1 Shorthand skills: Use initials to record words (e.g., tent → T, weather → W).
2 Number shorthand: Record numbers directly (e.g., 30 minutes → 30 mins).
3 Ignore the order of questions and record information according to the listening order.
2. While-listening
Play the radio interview audio twice:
1st listening: Let students fill in the blanks roughly with shorthand.
2nd listening: Ask students to check and complete the answers.
Check the answers in class and explain difficult points.
Step 3: Integration
1. Text Reading
Ask students to read Part Aand answer two questions:
1 Why do people like camping?
2 What can people do when camping?
2. Oral Practice: Pair Work
Ask students to choose an outdoor activity and practice with the help of language scaffolds. Example:
Student A: What should we take with us when we go birdwatching?
Student B: Remember to take binoculars. They’ll help you see the birds more clearly.
Student A: OK. Do you have any other useful tips?
Student B: You’d better wear comfortable shoes and take some water. You may walk a long way and get thirsty.
Student A: All right. Anything else?
Student B: Don’t stay out after it gets dark. It’s dangerous.
Student A: OK. Thanks a lot.
Student B: No problem. Have a safe trip.
Step 4: Summary & Homework
Summary: Review the pronunciation of the -ed ending, listening strategies and key expressions for asking for and giving advice; emphasize the importance of safety and environmental protection during outdoor activities.
Homework:
Read the pronunciation text aloud and record it.
