"This is for both of you," she said, holding the shiny wooden instrument. "Let its music remind you that family matters most."
Things got complicated when I moved tomy own apartment. "I'd like to put it in my new living room," I told Clara one day. She looked upset. "But I have my music school audition(试演) next week," she said, her voice excited but nervous. "My teacher said I need a good violin.Grandma would want me to play it!"
We started arguing, our voices gettinglouder, "You?" I said angrily. "You can never keep your music papers in order! That violin needs to be taken care of properly."

Without thinking, I took the violin case and left, alarming the door behind me with a loud bang. I heard something break inside-probably the music stand she loved since she was little.
Two weeks went by without us speaking.Then, while cleaning out my closet, I found Grandma's special box. Under some old concert tickets was a letter for Clara. "My dear Clara,"Grandma had written, "if you're reading this, you must be following your music dream. Play this violin with love. And please tell your sister-no object is worth damaging your closerelationship."
The words made me think deeply. I remembered how happy Clara was when she got into music school, how her face lit up when she talked about her dreams-dreams I had been too selfish to support.
