That day, I was walking on the street with my brother James. It was about 7:30 in the morning, and we were on our way to an early basketball practice. We were in a hurry because we didn’t want to be late.
Suddenly, my basketball rolled onto the street. Without thinking, I raced after it. Just then, a car came. The street was icy, so the car couldn’t stop in time. It hit me.
I was in shock. The driver, Mr. Morin, called an ambulance right away. He knew first aid, so he didn’t move me. Instead, he stopped the traffic until the ambulance arrived.
Now I am in the hospital. I have a broken leg and a bad shoulder wound, but I am recovering well. The doctor says I can return to school in about a week.
From this accident, I learned that we should never run after things onto the street, especially when we are in a hurry or when the road is icy. Safety always comes first.
