She's six years old, lives in Brisbane and might just be one of the best
resilience()coaches on television. We're talking about Bluey, the Aussie pup
精读,
whose adventures have captured the hearts of families around the world. But as our new study
reveals,Bluey isn't just entertaining kids;she's modelling how to deal with life's ups and downs
Why is resilience so important? It's the ability to cope with challenges. It's a vital part of
healthy children development.A 2023 national resilience survey found more than one in four
primary and one in three secondary students reported high levels of psychological distress.Research
shows we are not expected to support resilience-building until negative patterns take hold.
Bluey first aired in 2018.It has become Australia's most successful children's program.Yet
until now,no one had systematically examined how it-or any kid's TV show-presents resilience.
So we watched all 150 Bluey episodes. In our study,we analysed every episode of Bluey from
seasons one to three. For each episode,we looked closely at the storyline, characters and themes,
identifying moments where a character faced a challenge and showed a resilient response.
To guide our analysis,we used the Grotberg Resilience Framework. This is a widely
recognised model in psychology that breaks resilience into three key elements-I have,I can,I am.
Our research found nearly two-thirds of the resilience moments were facilitated by a parent-most
often Bluey's mum, which highlights how children draw strength from caring adults when things
get tough.This fits with the "I have"category of resilience.In a single moment,we see emotional
regulation and reframing-the core of the "I can".
For kids, learning that grown-ups need rest is powerful too.So the next time your child wants
to watch an episode, don't feel guilty-join them.

One of the key necessary things needed for life is phosphorus(),and lightning strikes may
have unlocked the necessary amount of phosphorus to create the foundation for life.
Phosphorus is needed in the molecules()that form life, said Benjamin Hess."However,
most phosphorus on early Earth was trapped in minerals that aren't dissolved(不可溶解的)or
inactive, meaning they couldn't be used to make molecules needed for life,"Hess said."Lightning
strikes provide a new mechanism for creating phosphorus in a form crucial to life."
It's long thought that meteorites()delivered the necessary elements for life on Earth.
Meteorites have been known to contain schreibersite(),which can be dissolved in water. If
enough of them crashed into Earth, that schreibersite could have provided enough phosphorus.
However, life began between 3.5 to 4.5 billion years ago,and that's when fewer meteorites were
impacting Earth.Fortunately, schreibersite has another source in fulgurite,a kind of glass that
forms when lightning strikes the ground.Fulgurite contains phosphorus and it can be dissolved.
Hess and his fellow researchers studied the rate of lightning on early Earth, and found that,
on Earth today,we experience about 560 million lightning flashes per year, while on early Earth,
that number was anywhere between 1 and 5 billion annually.Over a billion years, that could have
caused one quintillion lightning strikes and much phosphorus.Lightning was more prevalent on
early Earth because there was more CO2.Carbon dioxide contributed to the global temperature,
and a higher global temperature caused more frequent and intense thunderstorms.
Understanding the role of lightning strikes has implications for life beyond Earth."Our
findings are likely applicable to any planet with an atmosphere that produces lightning. So long as a
planet has a significant amount of lightning,it'd have a source of phosphorus needed for life,"Hess
said.
1.What's the feature of phosphorus on early Earth?
A.It was very difficult to access.
B.It was impossible to produce.
C.It was enough for life to form.
D.It existed mainly in water.
2.What's the main idea of Paragraph 3?
A.Process of Earth life came into being.
B.Impacts of meteorites on the Earth.
C.Meteorites cannot generate Earth life.
D.People's opinions on the origin of life.
3.What can be inferred about carbon dioxide from the passage?
A.It was hard to catch on early Earth.
B.It brought the higher global temperature.
C.More CO2 accounted for more lightning.D.Thunderstorms caused the change of CO2.
4.What does Hess suggest in the last paragraph?
A.The function of lightning production.
B.The significance of their findings.
C.A way to find the origin of life on Earth.D.The research methods of his team.

(Grotberg Resilience
根据第一段中的“We're talking about Bluey
the Aussie pup whose adventures have captured the hearts of
families around the world.”和第三段中的“Bluey first aired in
2018.It has become Australia's most successful children's
program.” 故选A。
根据第二段中的“Research shows we are not
expected to support resilience-building until negative patterns
take hold.”
根据第三段中的“So we watched all 150
Bluey episodes. In our study,we analysed every episode of
Bluey from seasons one to three. For each episode,we looked
closely at the storyline, characters and themes, identifying
moments where a character faced a challenge and showed a

根据第二段中的“However,most phosphorus
on early Earth was trapped in minerals that aren't dissolved or
inactive, meaning they couldn't be used to make molecules
A“It was very
difficult to access..(它很难获取。)” 故选A。
根据倒数第二段中的“Lightning was more
prevalent on early Earth because there was more CO2.Carbon
dioxide contributed to the global temperature, and a higher
global temperature
caused more
frequent
and intense
thunderstorms.”
根据“manners on the road are
becoming horrible(道路礼仪变得越来越糟糕)”和“would
become fierce tigers(会变成凶猛的老虎)”可知,此处通过对比
故填the nicest。
the exception to the rule是固定短语,意为“规
故填to。
“It takes sb.+名词+to do sth.”
.故填to resist。
subject sb.to sth.意为“使经受;使遭受”,the most cool-headed
句的完整表述是when they are subjected to uncivilized
behavior。.they指代主句中动作发出者the most cool-headed
drivers,因此从句里可省略主语和be动词are,即when
subjected to uncivilized behavior。
故填an:
