Passage 1
文体:记叙文 文章词数:约300词
难度:★★★★☆ 建议用时:9分钟
Palazzo grew up in the countryside of Brazil. As a child,
she helped her family grow crops, which developed her deep
interest in agriculture(农业). She often wondered how farmers
could grow more food to feed growing populations.
3
This stayed with her as she grew older and finally led her to
explore agriculture after leaving her home.
A turning point came when Palazzo learned about China.
China, known for feeding its huge population with certain land,
interested her. Palazzo got a full scholarship(奖学金) to study
at the Agriculture School of Renmin University of China.
During field trips with her international classmates, Palazzo was
deeply impressed(留下印象) by China’s agricultural creation.
In a village in Zhejiang Province, she saw how local family
farms used smart technology to grow more food in small spaces.
Palazzo also noticed how China’s markets were filled with
different foods—from fruits in the south to corn in the north.
She realized that both Brazil and China shared a common
goal: improving land productivity. “Farming isn’t just about
planting seeds,” she explained. “It’s about economics(经济),
technology, and even cultural traditions.”
After graduating, Palazzo returned to Brazil and now leads
a team in an agricultural company, where she actively works on
agriculture business and sells Brazilian food and fruit to Chinese
markets. Her language skills and cultural knowledge she got in
China help her bridge the two countries. “My time there taught
me to see problems from different sides,” she said.
Palazzo believes Brazil and China can learn much from
each other. With China’s influence growing, Palazzo is confident
that stronger ties between the two nations will shape a better
future for agriculture. Palazzo has made cooperation(合作)
with China, a key part of her future job plans.

Passage 2
文体:说明文 文章词数:约300词
难度:★★★★☆ 建议用时:9分钟
Long ago, in ancient China, there was a story about the
invention of silk. People believed that silk was first invented by
Leizu, the wife of the Yellow Emperor. Leizu learned how to
make cocoons(蚕茧) into soft and strong cloth. This magical
cloth became known as “silk”, and it was so valuable that it
17
was called “China’s Gold”. Following kings’ orders, the Chinese
kept the secret of making silk for centuries.
But then, something amazing happened! During the Han
Dynasty, the brave officer Zhang Qian traveled west as far as
Central Asia and brought silk there. As years passed by, silk
became so important that the trade road from China to Europe
got its name—the Silk Road.
The Silk Road became a busy way for traders who carried
things across deserts and mountains. From China, people sold
silk and tea. In return, they received treasures such as gold and
silver. At the very beginning, it was mainly about trade; then
people began to share ideas, technologies and cultures.
Most importantly, the Silk Road helped different cultures
learn from each other. Art, music and even language were
shared along this ancient road. In places like Dunhuang Mogao
Grottoes(敦煌莫高窟) in China, you can see how art pieces
combined(融合) Eastern and Western styles into something
different. It can not be seen anywhere else.
The story of the Silk Road tells us how people from
faraway lands could become friends through trade. Today, we
remember the Silk Road as one of the greatest examples of
exchange in history. It shows us how important it is to learn
about and respect each other’s traditions, and that different
cultures can work together to create amazing things.

Passage 3
文体:说明文 文章词数:约290词
难度:★★★★☆ 建议用时:8分钟

How do you describe the surface of one thing? Round,
square, or smooth? You may have different answers. But we
know that we can describe the Earth’s surface through landforms
(地形). A landform is a natural mixture of rock and soil
found on the Earth. Landforms come in different kinds of
shapes and sizes. Mountains, small hills, plateaus(高原) and
plains(平原) are the four main kinds of landforms. A
landform might be as large as a piece of land or as small as a
pool.
29
Landforms are made by some kinds of forces of nature.
The force could be wind, water or ice. And it usually takes a
very long time to form different landforms. It could be hundreds
or thousands of years or even longer. For example, you may
see many valleys (山谷). At first, there may have been only
one high hill here, but over time, water and wind wore down
two or three sides of the high hill, and then created valleys.
Most landforms are formed by water. These processes happen
over a long time, sometimes even millions of years.
What are the differences among the landforms? Valleys are
usually found between hills or mountains. And there is usually
a river at the bottom of the valleys. A delta(三角洲) is
another landform created by water. Deltas can be found at the
mouths of rivers. They are created when sand, soil and rock
mix together. Hills and mountains are other landforms. A hill is
raised land. A mountain is usually higher with a top. Most
mountains are like towers but a few of them are like tables
which have flat tops.#2.2

Passage 4
文体:说明文 文章词数:约300词
难度:★★★★☆ 建议用时:9分钟
Do you know that there may be hundreds of magnets in
your home? Where are they? You can’t see most of them.
40
And most of the electricity that runs these things comes from
magnetism.
Magnetism is a force that can’t be seen. This force only
pulls on some metals. Magnetism runs through a magnet. It
goes in one end and out the other. These two ends are the
north and south poles(极). The force comes out of the north
pole and goes back to the south pole. You can use two magnets
to feel magnetism. The north pole of one magnet will attract
the south pole of the other one. Try to push the two north
poles together, and you will find it is not easy! Two north
poles will always push each other away. So will two south
poles.
Magnets are used in many fields. One bank card can have
millions of magnets. These magnets are tiny. Each tiny magnet
points in its own direction. The different directions of the
magnets make a code(代码). Computers read the code.
Putting a bank card near a powerful magnet can mess up or
erase the code.
Magnets are used to suspend(悬浮) some high-speed
trains above the tracks(轨道). Instead of having wheels like
regular trains, these trains in China actually fly as they travel.
They travel at a top speed of about 267 miles per hour. This
makes for a fast, smooth ride.
Doctors use a very powerful magnet to look inside a
person’s body. It helps doctors see the inside illness of the
patients without having to cut them open.
Magnets are fun. They’re also really useful. Every time you
watch television or even turn on a light, you are using magnets.

The Qingming Festival, also called Tomb-Sweeping Day,
takes place on either April 4th or 5th. From this day on,
temperatures start to go up and there is more rainfall—signs
that it is a key time for spring farming. Qingming is not just a
52
mark of the season; it is also a day for honoring ancestors,
going on spring outings, and joining in other such activities.
Tomb sweeping is regarded as the most important custom
during the Qingming Festival from which the name of Tomb-
Sweeping Day is got. Cleaning the tomb and paying respect to
the dead with offerings are the two important parts of
remembering the late relatives. The dead people’s favorite food
and wine are taken to sacrifice(供奉) to them, along with
paper money.
The Qingming Festival is also a time for people to enjoy
themselves. During April, everything in nature takes on a new
look, as trees turn green, flowers blossom(开花), and the sun
shines brightly. It is a fine time to go out and enjoy beautiful
nature. This custom dates back to the Tang Dynasty and is
followed by each dynasty later till today.
Flying kites is an activity loved by many people during the
Qingming Festival. Kites are not only flown during the daytime
but also in the evening. What makes flying kites during this
day special is that people cut the string while the kite is in the
sky to let it fly free. It is said that this brings good luck.
All in all, the Qingming Festival is a special festival,
integrating(融合) sad tears to the dead with the continuous
laughter from the spring outings.

Passage 6(2025遵义二模)
文体:说明文 文章词数:约280词
难度:★★★★☆ 建议用时:8分钟
Chopsticks are a pair of sticks used when eating. They
were first used in China and then introduced to other areas in
the world. Chopsticks are considered as one of the symbols of
Chinese food culture. Here are some facts about them.
63
Chinese people started to use chopsticks about 3,000 years
ago during the Shang Dynasty. During the Pre-Qin period,
chopsticks were called “Jia”, and in the Qin and Han dynasties,
they were called “Zhu”. “Zhu” sounds like “stop” in Chinese,
which is an unlucky word. So people in the Ming Dynasty
began to call them “Kuai”, as it means “fast” in Chinese. This
is the origin of today’s name of Chinese chopsticks.
There is no exact historical record about who invented
chopsticks, but there are many folk stories about it. One theory
is that Jiang Ziya was inspired to create chopsticks by a
mythical bird. It is also said that Yu the Great, who founded
the Xia Dynasty, used sticks to pick up hot food in order to
save time to control floods, so chopsticks came into being.
What should we pay attention to when using chopsticks?
When eating with the elders, Chinese people usually let the
elders take up chopsticks first. Besides, playing with chopsticks
is thought to be bad manners. It’s also bad manners to hit the
bowl with chopsticks, because in ancient China beggars often
did it to attract attention.
These small chopsticks reflect the development and changes
of Chinese language culture and table manners culture. And they
also carry rich historical and cultural connotations.

Passage 7(2025铜仁第四中学三模改编)
文体:说明文 文章词数:约300词
难度:★★★★☆ 建议用时:9分钟
The Little New Year, which usually comes a week before
the Lunar New Year, is in January or February. It’s also called
the Festival of the Kitchen God—this god watches over how
each family behaves. Here are five things you need to know
about the Little New Year.
74
1.Offer sacrifices to the Kitchen God
One of the most important traditions of the Little New
Year is the burning of a paper picture of the Kitchen God, who
will report on the family’s behavior over the past year. The
offerings include the pig’s head, fish, fruit and sweet bean paste
(甜豆包). Most of the offerings are sweets of various kinds.
It is thought that this will encourage him to only say good
words about the family when he rises to Heaven to make his
report.
75
2.House cleaning
According to Chinese folk beliefs, during the last month of
the year, deities must choose either to return to Heaven or to
stay on Earth. It is believed that in order to ensure the deities’
timely leave, people must completely clean their houses.
76
3.Paste paper-cuts to windows
On the Little New Year, old couplets and paper-cuts from
the last Spring Festival are taken down, and new window
decorations, New Year’s posters, and lucky decorations are put
up.
77
4.Bath and haircut
As the old Chinese saying goes, whether they’re rich or
poor, people often have a haircut before the Spring Festival.
The activity of taking a bath and haircut is often taken on the
Little New Year.
78
5.Preparations for the Spring Festival
Since the Little New Year, people have begun to prepare
the things they need for the Spring Festival. All the items
needed—like those for offering to ancestors, treating guests, and
feeding the family—have to be bought ahead of time.

Huangguoshu Waterfall, about 130 km to the southwest of
Guiyang, is the largest waterfall both in China and in Asia.
Without doubt, it is Guizhou’s number one natural place.
Huangguoshu Waterfall is far more than a waterfall. It is a
huge waterfall group with 18 waterfalls of different sizes.
100
Some are wide and great, while others are narrow but lively—
all of them connect with rivers and streams, making up a great
“family” of water. It is even listed in the Guinness Book of
World Records as the largest waterfall group in the world.
Huangguoshu Waterfall can be seen from above, below,
front, back, left and right. Rhinoceros Pool(犀牛潭) is one of
the best viewing spots(观景口) for the waterfall. It lies at
the foot of Huangguoshu Waterfall. The waterfall falls from a
high place and hits a deep pool below, sending up small water
drops that feel cool on the face. Long ago, people thought the
pool’s shape looked like a rhinoceros lying in the water, so they
named it Rhinoceros Pool.
And Huangguoshu Waterfall got its name from a local plant,
namely, the Yellow Fruit Tree. It is famous for its greatness and
the waterfall group. Because of the rich rain in Guizhou
Province, the waterfall never dries up. In the rainy season, the
water is like a curtain(帘), and you cannot even see the
stones behind the waterfall. It is just like ten thousand horses
running ahead. Visitors can go inside, touch the waterfall and
even see a rainbow on a sunny day. It is also one of the
filming spots of the TV series Journey to the West.

Passage 10
文体:说明文 文章词数:约300词

Recently, a primary school in Changsha has made good use
of Virtual Reality(VR) technology in an English class. When
the students put on the VR glasses, they felt as if they had
been transported to a new world. In this world, they could see,
111
touch and feel things, and it all seemed so real. As they
enjoyed the scenery around them, they were also able to
remember more knowledge.
VR language learning is now starting to be widely used in
many schools. Think of it like this. Now you are learning
English in China. You don’t have the atmosphere(环境) to
use English, but if you learn English in English-speaking
countries, it’ll be much easier for you to make progress.
Nowadays, a lot of apps have also been designed to serve
VR language learning. An app “House of Languages” is one of
them. It can sense your movement and the acts of your eyeballs,
arms and hands, so you don’t have to sit still like in traditional
classes.
When you are learning English in it, a lovely racoon(浣熊)
called Mr.Woo will guide you to communicate in English. You
can use English by finishing tasks Mr. Woo gives you.
For
example, you will be asked to find “certain things” at your
“home” according to the English words that Mr. Woo gives you.
After you’ve found these “things”, you should “take them”,
“come back” to Mr. Woo and “give them” to him. Then he will
say thanks to you. You will learn English so quickly that you
will even forget you are learning.
Virtual Reality is showing increasing promise in language
education and the day isn’t far away when it will become one
of the main media in education.

Passage 11
文体:说明文 文章词数:约290词

After a long day’s study at school, you are very tired. So
after school, you go home to relax. When you get home, a
robot welcomes you. He looks happy to see you. He takes your
heavy schoolbag, and then follows you to your room to put it
on the desk. He sits beside you and listens carefully as you
121
talk about your school life. When you finish, he tells you a
new joke about a cat and a mouse, and you laugh out loud,
feeling much better. Then he reminds you, “Today is your
cousin’s birthday. You should call and say happy birthday to
him.” And then he helps you with your homework.
This is your future, and the robot’s name is NAO. NAO
has a small body, big eyes and a large head. He can walk
smoothly and dance to music. He listens and talks, and he even
learns and thinks for himself. His creators predict that the robot
will be used in people’s homes before 2040. This $16,000
robot knows who you are—he can remember your face and
your voice.
NAO can even express emotions(表达情感). When
you’re sad, his eyes look soft, and he might touch your hand.
When you’re happy, he smiles with his screen face. He is a
self-guided robot. A self-guided robot can sense things, think
and act. Other robots might do two out of the three. For
example, a robot might sense things using cameras and think
using computers, but with no arms, he can’t act. Another robot
can move and sense things, but he can’t think for himself.
These aren’t self-guided robots. But NAO can do them all—he’s
like a smart little friend.
