“OK, class, come over here,” Mrs. Johnson said. “I want to teach you something important before you all head off to the next part of your lives.”
The students quickly took their seats, wondering what this final lesson could be.
“Growing up isn’t always easy,” Mrs. Johnson began. “There are a lot of ups and downs, and sometimes it can feel like you’re walking on eggshells (蛋壳). But I want you all to remember one thing—when life gives you lemons, make lemonade (柠檬水).”
One of the students, a girl named Emily, raised her hand. “But what if the lemons are sour? What do we do then?”
Mrs. Johnson smiled. “Well, then you add a little sugar to sweeten things! The point is, don’t let the sour things in life get you down. Find a way to make the best of (充分利用) it.”
“Another thing I want you to remember,” Mrs. Johnson continued, “is that sometimes you must step back and look at the big picture. Don’t get so caught up in the small things that you forget what’s important.”
“No matter what happens, keep your chin (下巴) up and your eyes on the prize!” Mrs. Johnson said. “Finally, congratulations to you all. I wish you the best of luck for the future!”

“It is just too funny, hahaha…”, and just like this, three hours pass before you realize you’ve done nothing! Some experts say we’ll become stupid if we don’t put phones down. Studies show more people watch short videos almost all the time when awake.
Why is it hard to refuse short videos? Algorithmic recommendation (算法推荐) must be the answer. It’s smart enough to uncover our preferences (偏好)—finding what we like and providing similar content (内容) continually. The more we like something, the more similar content we get.
Then why do short videos make us stupid? First, they narrow (缩小) our field of perception (认知范围). When watching similar videos, we may think we’re more knowledgeable, but we’re actually in an “information cocoon (信息茧房)” by sticking to interested subjects. Just check your mother’s phone, and you'll find you live in totally different worlds! Second, we’ll lose patience for reading and thinking, as we’re used to this low-cost, high-return entertainment. Third, we’ll become over-emotional. We may easily believe negative (消极的) video stories and comment (评论) quickly, but often regret it when knowing the truth.
See, you become stupid bit by bit without realizing it. Maybe it’s time to wake up—you need a better way to entertain (娱乐) yourself!
26. Why does the writer use the mark “!” in the first sentence in paragraph 1?
A. To show people’s interest in short videos.
B. To show people’s regret about wasting time.
C. To show people’s doubt about cellphone use.
27. What does the underlined word “uncover” mean in paragraph 2?
A. close down. B. dig out. C. give away.
28. What’s the writer’s purpose by mentioning “your mother’s phone”?
A. To prove (证明) we know nothing about our mother’s life.
B. To suggest we should share the information.
C. To explain the theory of “information cocoon”
29. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A Short videos narrow people’s perception and make them impatient.
B. Algorithmic recommendation can’t know people’s preferences well.
C Watching short videos helps people become more knowledgeable.
30. According to the passage, how do we deal with watching too many short videos?
A. By asking some experts for help.
B. By putting our phone down forever.
C. By finding a better way to amuse ourselves.

C项“What’s wrong with you?”符合关心询问的语境,与Ben的回应“I lost my phone.”

F项“When was the last time you used it?”
B项“How do you know that?”

deal with“处理”、stay with“和……
Until“直到……”、Since“自从……”

C
29 Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Short videos narrow people’s perception and make them impatient.
B. Algorithmic recommendation can’t know people’s preferences well.
C. Watching short videos helps people become more knowledgeable.
30. According to the passage, how do we deal with watching too many short videos?
A. By asking some experts for help.
B. By putting our phone down forever.
C. By finding a better way to amuse ourselves.
B 27. B 28. C 29. A 30. C
