根据文章第二段“We offer the newest bicycles in a wide variety, including basic bikes with foot brake (刹车), bikes with hand brake and gears (排挡), bikes with child seats, and children’s bikes.
根据文章最后一段“The tour departs from Dam Square every hour on the hour, starting at 1:00 pm every day. (旅游团每小时从大坝广场出发,每天下午1点开始)”可知,导游城市之旅从大坝广场开始。故选D。

Sharks are among the best swimmers on the planet, but a new research suggests that even they sometimes “hold their breath” while diving deep underwater. The reason is that sharks are cold-blooded and their body temperature matches the waters they swim in. To do deep dives, they must maintain body heat, and the best way to do that is to close their gills (鳃).
Royer, a leading researcher at the University of Hawaii, set out to study the diving habits of hammerheads sharks. They’re known for swimming in warmer coastal waters, but earlier studies showed they can also dive to over 800 meters below the surface. At those cold depths, the water temperature falls to as low as 5℃.
For these sharks, the fall in temperature is a matter of life and death. Because a shark can’t produce its own body heat, it begins to freeze the deeper it goes. Its muscles, eyes and brain become sluggish (迟钝). If it gets too cold, it can’t swim. And if it stops swimming, water doesn’t go across its gills. It can’t breathe and will eventually drown (溺亡).
How is it that hammerheads are able to go down into these deep depths and survive? To find out, Royer and his colleagues caught the fish and attached an electronic sensor to each shark. The sensor would release itself from the shark’s body after several weeks. The data they found amazed them: The sharks dived, spent just a few minutes at depths and then they shot towards the surface. They closed their gills and kept water out of their gills so that their body wouldn’t cool down.
“Unlike animals with lungs, the sharks don’t return to the surface to breathe. Instead, they simply go to a depth where it’s warm enough for them to feel comfortable and reopen their gills. Hammerheads are probably not the only species doing so. Our work is another example of how new electronic sensors help to explain the extraordinary ability of these animals across 400 million years of changing ocean environments,” Royer said.
4. What does the new research focus on concerning the sharks?
A. Their hunting habits. B. Their basic types.
C. Their special behaviors. D. Their body structures.
5. What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 1 refer to?
A. Keeping body heat. B. Holding their breath.
C. Swimming on the surface. D. Diving deep in the sea.
6. What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us about hammerheads sharks?
A. How their gills work in the sea.
B. How the temperature drop affects them.
C. Why they can survive the terrible environment.
D. Why they can protect themselves from the cold.
7. What can we know from Royer’s words?
A. Hammerheads depend on their lungs to breathe.
B. The diving strategy may not be unique to hammerheads.
C. It’s hard for hammerheads to adapt to the cold conditions.
D. It’s common for hammerheads to stay long at great depths.
C 5. A 6. B 7. B
根据第一段“Sharks are among the best swimmers on the planet, but a new research suggests that even they sometimes ‘hold their breath’ while diving deep underwater. (鲨鱼是地球上最好的游泳者之一,但一项新的研究表明,即使是鲨鱼,在深海潜水时有时也会‘屏住呼吸’。)”,以及第四段“How is it that hammerheads are able to go down into these deep depths and survive? To find out, Royer and his colleagues caught the fish and attached an electronic sensor to each shark. (双髻鲨是如何下潜到这么深的地方并存活下来的呢?为了找到答案,罗耶和他的同事们抓住了这些鱼,并在每条鲨鱼身上安装了一个电子传感器。)”可知,研究的结果是:鲨鱼在深海潜水时有时也会‘屏住呼吸’,所以研究的重点是研究这些鲨鱼在深海区存活下来的有什么特殊的行为。故选C项。
【5题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第一段“The reason is that sharks are cold-blooded and their body temperature matches the waters they swim in. To do deep dives, they must maintain body heat, and the best way to do that is to close their gills (腮). (原因是鲨鱼是冷血动物,它们的体温与它们所游的水域相匹配。为了进行深海潜水,它们必须保持体温,最好的方法就是合上鳃)”,以及第四段“They closed their gills and kept water out of their gills so that their body wouldn’t cool down. (它们合上鱼鳃,不让水进入鱼鳃,这样身体就不会降温。)”可知,that指代上文maintain body heat,要保持体温,就要合上鳃屏住呼吸,与A项“Keeping body heat”意思相同,故选A项。
根据第三段“For these sharks, the fall in temperature is a matter of life and death.
根据最后一段“Unlike animals with lungs, the sharks don’t return to the surface to breathe. Instead, they simply go to a depth where it’s warm enough for them to feel comfortable and reopen their gills. Hammerheads are probably not the only species doing so.
C
Fan Jinshi, known as “the Daughter of Dunhuang”, was born in Beijing in 1938 and developed a passion for cultural relics under her father’s influence, a Tsinghua University graduate devoted to classical art. In 1958, she achieved a remarkable milestone by gaining admission to Peking University, where she buried herself in the study of archaeology. It was during an internship in 1962 that she first stepped in the Mogao Grottoes and instantly fell under their spell. Fascinated by the breathtaking murals and sculptures that bore witness to centuries of history, she made a life-changing decision: to devote her life to guarding this unparalleled cultural treasure after her graduation in 1963.
Life in the remote desert was far from easy. Fierce sandstorms swept there without warning, leaving everything in a veil of dust; the living areas were spartan, lacking even basic comforts; and the long, painful separation from her family thousands of miles away weighed heavily on her heart. However, she never gave up.
For over half a century, she poured her heart and soul into the research of the grottoes, leading her team to finish classifying most caves according to historical periods, an achievement that laid a solid foundation for future archaeological studies, and compiling (编纂) the first volume of The Complete Works of Dunhuang Grottoes. Beyond her academic achievements, Fan Jinshi stood as a pioneer in cultural relic protection. Facing natural erosion and tourist pressures, Fan spared no effort to advocate for legal protection. Her persistent efforts paid off when the Regulations on the Protection of the Mogao Grottoes was officially made, which provides a legal protection for the site. What’s more, she dared to embrace innovation, launching the groundbreaking “Digital Dunhuang” project, which allows people around the globe to admire Dunhuang’s charm online without setting foot in the desert, thus ensuring the permanent preservation and sustainable legacy of this cultural gem.
Now well into her eighties, she still burns with a passionate devotion to Dunhuang’s cultural heritage. Though her steps have slowed and her hair has turned gray, she continues to offer guidance on grotto conservation, deliver lectures to inspire the younger generation, and tirelessly promote Dunhuang culture to the world.
8. When did Fan Jinshi decide to guard the Mogao Grottoes?
A. Since influenced by her father in 1938.
B. When admitted to Peking University in 1958.
C. During her internship in 1962.
D. After her graduation in 1963.
9. What does the underlined word “spartan” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. Simple and tough.
B. Comfortable and warm.
C. Faraway and quiet.
D. Huge and convenient.
10. What does the third paragraph mainly talk about?
A. Fan’s efforts and devotion to fighting against overtourism.
B. Fan’s persistence in studying the splendid Dunhuang culture.
C. Fan’s pioneering spirit to overcome the professional challenge.
D. Fan’s academic achievements and contributions to the grottoes’ protection.
11. What can we learn about Fan Jinshi from the last paragraph?
A. She has stopped working due to her age.
B. She stays passionate and continues her work.
C. She focuses mainly on academic research at present.
D. She gives lectures instead of working on the grottoes.
C 9. A 10. D 11. B
根据第一段中“It was during an internship in 1962 that she first stepped in the Mogao Grottoes and instantly fell under their spell. Fascinated by the breathtaking murals and sculptures that bore witness to centuries of history, she made a life-changing decision: to devote her life to guarding this unparalleled cultural treasure after her graduation in 1963.(1962年的一次实习,让她首次踏入莫高窟,瞬间便被这里的一切深深吸引。那些见证了数百年历史、令人叹为观止的壁画与雕塑,让她心驰神往,也让她做出了改变一生的决定:1963 年毕业后,她要毕生守护这份举世无双的文化瑰宝)”可知,樊锦诗是在1962年实习期间决定守护莫高窟的。故选C。
【9题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第二段中“Life in the remote desert was far from easy. Fierce sandstorms swept there without warning, leaving everything in a veil of dust; the living areas were spartan, lacking even basic comforts; and the long, painful separation from her family thousands of miles away weighed heavily on her heart.(偏远沙漠中的生活远非易事。猛烈的沙尘暴毫无预兆地席卷而来,让一切都笼罩在尘土之中;生活区是spartan,甚至缺乏基本的舒适设施;与远在千里之外的家人长期痛苦的分离让她心如刀绞)”可知,生活区条件简陋,缺乏基本的舒适设施,所以spartan意思是“简陋而艰苦的”。故选A。
根据第三段中“For over half a century, she poured her heart and soul into the research of the grottoes, leading her team to finish classifying most caves according to historical periods, an achievement that laid a solid foundation for future archaeological studies, and compiling (编纂) the first volume of The Complete Works of Dunhuang Grottoes.
根据最后一段“Now well into her eighties, she still burns with a passionate devotion to Dunhuang’s cultural heritage. Though her steps have slowed and her hair has turned gray, she continues to offer guidance on grotto conservation, deliver lectures to inspire the younger generation, and tirelessly promote Dunhuang culture to the world.(如今,她已年过八旬,但仍然对敦煌文化遗产充满热情。尽管她的脚步变慢了,头发也变白了,但她继续为石窟保护提供指导,发表演讲激励年轻一代,并不知疲倦地向世界推广敦煌文化)”可知,樊锦诗仍然充满热情,继续她的工作。故选B。
D
Persephone is a tour guide in Greece, but not the type people are used to. As the world’s first robot tour guide, Persephone has been welcoming visitors since mid-July to the Alistrati Cave (山洞)in northern Greece.
The robot covers the first 500 feet of the part of the cave. The robot can give its part of the tour in 33 languages and interact (互动)at a basic level with visitors in three languages. It can also answer 33 questions, but only in Greek.
Nikos Kartalis, the scientific director for the Alistrati site, had the idea of creating the robot when he saw one on TV guiding visitors at an art gallery. The robot was built by the National Technology and Research Foundation and cost $ 139, 000.
“We already have a 70% increase in visitors compared to last year since we started using the robot,” said Kartalis. “People are interested, especially the children, and people who had visited in the past are coming back to see the robot guide.”
Persephone, with a white body, black head and two eyes, moves on wheels, guiding visitors to the first three of eight stops along the walkway. She can do two more stops, but her low speed slows down the tour. Persephone’s creators are considering ways to speed her up. Evdokia Karafera is one of the tour guides who partners with the robot. “It is helpful, because it speaks many languages. There’s just a little delay (耽搁)in the touring,” she said. “Most find it amazing, especially the children, and find it interesting that it speaks many languages.”
Karafera said, however, that human tour guides couldn’t be completely replaced. “Robots, at some point in the future, will take over many jobs. But I believe they cannot replace humans everywhere,” she said. “The robot is funny, but can’t replace the human contact with the guide and the conversation we can have on the way back.”
12. What can be learned about Persephone?
A. It once guided visitors at the art gallery.
B. It was built by Nikos Kartalis.
C. It can speak thirty-three languages.
D. It is about three feet in height.
13. Why do people who had visited the Alistrati Cave come back?
A. To visit an art gallery. B. To see Persephone.
C. To learn the Greek language. D. To help Evdokia Karafera.
14. What does Evdokia Karafera think of Persephone?
A. Interesting but imperfect. B. Smart but useless.
C. Expensive but ineffective. D. Beautiful but slow.
15. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?
A. Greek: a Difficult Language
B. Alistrati: a Cave Worth Visiting
C. Robots: a Threat to Human Future
D. Persephone: an Unusual Tour Guide
C 13. B 14. A 15. D
根据第二段的“The robot can give its part of the tour in 33 languages and interact at a basic level with visitors in three languages.(该机器人可以用33种语言完成部分任务,并用三种语言与游客进行基本互动)”可知,Persephone能说33种语言。
根据第四段“People are interested, especially the children, and people who had visited in the past are coming back to see the robot guide.(人们很感兴趣,尤其是孩子们,过去参观过的人都回来看机器人导游)”可知,以前参观过的人重游此地是为了看Persephone。
根据倒数第二段的“It is helpful, because it speaks many languages. There’s just a little delay in the touring,” she said. “Most find it amazing, especially the children, and find it interesting that it speaks many languages.”(“它很有用,因为它能说多种语言。只是游览会推迟一点,”她说。“大多数人觉得它很神奇,尤其是孩子们,而且它能说多种语言,这很有趣。”)”和最后一段的“The robot is funny, but can’t replace the human contact with the guide and the conversation we can have on the way back.(机器人很有趣,但它无法取代人类与导游的接触,以及我们在返回途中可以进行的对话)”可知,Persephone会说多种语言,这非常有趣,可以吸引游客,但会让游览推迟,且不能在返回途中和游客进行适当的对话。 故选A。
根据文章的主要内容,尤其第一段“Persephone is a tour guide in Greece, but not the type people are used to. As the world’s first robot tour guide, Persephone has been welcoming visitors since mid-July to the Alistrati Cave in northern Greece.(Persephone是希腊的一名导游,但不是人们习惯的那种类型。作为世界上第一个机器人导游,珀尔塞福涅从7月中旬开始就在希腊北部的阿利斯特拉提洞穴迎接游客)”可知,文章主要介绍了一个名叫Persephone的机器人导游。故D项“Persephone:一个与众不同的导游”可以作为本文的最佳标题,吸引读者。故选D。
第二节(共5小题;每小题2. 5分,满分12. 5分)
根据下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Win and Lose with Grace
During my years as an early childhood teacher, I learned very quickly which children were driven to be the best—the winner. Some children were not especially bothered by losing, whereas others turned every opportunity into a competition. ____16____. However, we can help our children learn to handle it.
●Acknowledge disappointment from losing
Teach your child that it’s okay to feel disappointed after losing. ____17____. Some children may be ready to jump back in and play again. Others may need to ask for a hug, spend a little time alone, or read a book to calm down. It is never okay to say mean words about others.
●____18____
Share with your child that even if they feel upset or disappointed, they can congratulate those who did win. Find meaningful ways to be a good loser. Share a praise with other players to let them know something they did was really positive. Thinking about others’ feelings can often help children manage their own (e.g., “They worked really hard-just like me!”).
●Talk about luck and chance
Some games take very little effort to win or lose, relying mostly on chance. Talk with children about luck and chance and let them know that sometimes you choose cards that help you win and sometimes you don’t. ____19____.
●Focus on effort
____20____. When children are preparing for a competition, praise them for how hard they worked. Focus on effort even after a competition ends whether your child won or lost. This encourages children to recognize that they can improve and grow, making it more likely that they will try again.
A. Share praises with others
B. Practice good sportsmanship
C. Don’t make winning or losing too big of a deal
D. There are different ways to express that feeling
E. It can feel harder to lose at a game that relies on personal or team performance than lose a game based on chance
F. This is not your fault and does not reflect who you are
G. Managing feelings that come with losing can be challenging
G 17. D 18. B 19. F 20. E
前文“Some children were not especially bothered by losing, whereas others turned every opportunity into a competition.(有些孩子并没有因为输而特别烦恼,而另一些孩子则把每一个机会都变成了一场比赛。)” 后文“However, we can help our children learn to handle it.(然而,我们可以帮助我们的孩子学会处理它。)”
前文“Teach your child that it’s okay to feel disappointed after losing.(教你的孩子直到失败后感到失望是没关系的。)” 后文“Some children may be ready to jump back in and play again. Others may need to ask for a hug, spend a little time alone, or read a book to calm down.(有些孩子可能已经准备好跳回去再玩了。其他人可能需要一个拥抱,花一点时间独处,或者读一本书来平静下来。)”讲述了不同的孩子在输掉后的不同反应。所以空处应是说有不同的表达失望情绪的方式,D项“有不同的方式来表达这种感觉”承上启下,选项中的that feeling对应前文中的feel disappointed。故选D。
【18题详解】
空处是本段小标题。结合上下文可知,这里应用祈使句。根据本段中的“Share with your child that even if they feel upset or disappointed, they can congratulate those who did win. Find meaningful ways to be a good loser. (告诉你的孩子,即使他们感到沮丧或失望,他们也可以祝贺那些获胜的人。找到有意义的方法来做一个好的失败者。)”可知,本段主要讲述了即使自己失败了,也要礼貌地祝贺其他获胜的人,体面地失败,这表达了良好的体育精神。B项“践行良好的体育精神”最能概括本段内容。故选B。
【19题详解】
前文“Talk with children about luck and chance and let them know that sometimes you choose cards that help you win and sometimes you don’t.(与孩子们谈论运气和机会,让他们知道有时你会选择有助于你获胜的牌,有时你不会。)”
根据本段小标题“Focus on effort(专注于努力)”和后文“When children are preparing for a competition, praise them for how hard they worked. Focus on effort even after a competition ends whether your child won or lost.(当孩子们准备比赛时,要表扬他们的努力。
On a quiet afternoon, I wandered down an old stone lane. As I ____21____ a small tea shop, I heard a rhythmic sound coming from inside — a steady, deliberate pounding, “dong, dong, dong”. It wasn’t ____22____ or hurried — just persistent, ancient, and oddly comforting.
Drawn inside, I was ____23____ not just to watch but to try ____24____ leicha—a traditional local tea. The shopkeeper placed a heavy leibo (钵) in front of me and ____25____ me a leigun (杵) — its surface dark, smooth, and warm from years of ____26____.

Alice was a senior high school student who lived at home with her parents rather than living in the school dorm. Every day, her mom Coco would nag (唠叨) her a lot, and this had lasted for years.
In the morning, before Alice went to school, Coco would stand by the door and say, “Alice, don’t use your phone when the teacher is talking.” When Alice came back home after school, Coco would keep asking, “Did you make any new friends at school? Getting along well with your classmates is really important.” Sometimes, she would also say, “Tell me something interesting that happened at school today.”
At first, Alice tried to listen patiently. But as time went by, she got more and more tired of Coco’s nagging. She often thought, “Mom talks too much. I wish I could go to a university in another city. That way, she won’t nag me all the time.”
Two years later, Alice’s dream came true. She was admitted to a university far away from home. However, one month before she left, Coco started nagging again, this time about her college life.“Remember to wash your clothes regularly in college. Study hard but also take care of your health,” Coco would repeat every day. Alice felt even more annoyed. When the day came for her to leave home, she was very happy, thinking she would finally be free from her mom’s nagging.
But things didn’t go as Alice expected at college. One roommate liked to stay up late watching movies and the other often left her things everywhere. Alice didn’t know how to get along with them. Besides, she had no idea how to manage her spare time meaningfully. She didn’t have many friends there. Her heart was brimming with a feeling of being alone.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One evening, Alice found herself missing the very words she used to hate. She picked up her phone to call Coco. As soon as Coco answered, she said softly, “Mom, I miss your nagging. My roommates are difficult to get along with, and I don’t know how to manage my time.” Coco listened patiently and gave gentle advice: “Try talking to your roommates nicely about your sleep schedule, and also, join a club to make friends.” She also reminded Alice to eat healthy and get enough sleep. Alice nodded repeatedly, tears welling up in her eyes. For the first time, she felt the warmth of her mom’s words.
Alice felt much better after talking to her mom on the phone. She followed Coco’s suggestions. She had a calm chat with her roommates, and they agreed to respect each other’s habits to create a more harmonious atmosphere. She also joined a book club, where she met some like-minded classmates. Gradually, she no longer felt like a stranger in the new city. From then on, whenever she faced troubles, she’d call her mom, no longer feeling annoyed by the nagging. Instead, she knew it was the most precious gift her mom could give — a love that followed her, even from far away.

Fierce sandstorms swept there without warning leaving everything in a veil of dust; the living areas were spartan, lacking even basic comforts; and the long, painful separation from her family thousands of miles away weighed heavily on her heart.

One roommate liked to stay up late watching movies, and the other often left her things everywhere. Alice didn’t know how to get along with them. Besides, she had no idea how to manage her spare time meaningfully. She didn’t have many friends there. Her heart was brimming with a feeling of being alone.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150左右;
One evening, Alice found herself missing the very words she used to hate.
