The solar system has eight planets. The planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The planets are all round, like balls. The planets all go around the Sun.
Mercury is the closest to the Sun. It is very hot on Mercury. The planets that are far away from the Sun are very cold. Venus is between Mercury and Earth. It is sometimes called the earth’s “sister planet” because they have almost the same size and shape. The earth is the planet where we live. From space, the earth looks blue because it has so much water. Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. Saturn is known for having rings around it. Uranus is the first planet discovered with a telescope. We can see Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn with our eyes. However, to see Uranus, we need a telescope. Neptune is the 8th planet in the solar system. The planet is the farthest from the Sun.
Probes (探测仪) go into space and take pictures of the planets. We learn a lot from these pictures. If you could send a probe to any planet, where would you send it?
1. The eight planets go around the sun.
2. Sometimes, Mercury is called the earth’s “sister planet”.
3. Jupiter is larger than any other planet in the solar system.
4. We can’t see Venus, Mars, Jupiter or Saturn with our eyes.
5. The text mainly talks about the shapes of the eight planets.

What’s your dream job? How much do you know about it? A group of students from Tianjin found a problem: Most middle school students plan little for their future jobs. Because there is too little help from their school or family.
To guide students to make job plans, the students from Tianjin No.1 Middle School started a project called “Dian Zhi Cheng Shi”. “Most students want to know more about different jobs,” said Wang Xinran, a project member. To meet the students’ needs, the team interviewed 32 people with different jobs and posted their interviews on TV shows. The people shared true stories behind each job to make students learn about the jobs in depth.
A team member Liu Jinyan said his most unforgettable interview was with a photographer (摄影师). “In the past, I thought being a photographer was cool. But now I know that they have to face lots of problems. They also need to communicate with different people.” But the project “Dian Zhi Cheng Shi” doesn’t mean to let the students down (失望的) by telling them the problems. “We want to show people’s love and hard work, not the bad sides,” said a team member Zhao Yajie. “The project’s name means to turn a job into a poem. We don’t believe working is just about bread and milk. It should be like a poem, full of love and beauty. And we hope our project can help students know that.”
6. Why do most students plan little for their future jobs?
A. They have no dream jobs. B. They don’t want to work.

7 What may the underlined words “learn about the jobs in depth” mean?

When we go to public places—like libraries, museums and cinemas, following the rules helps everyone have a good time.
Let’s start with libraries. Libraries are quiet places for reading and studying. We need to talk softly and never make loud noises that may disturb (打扰) others. Give back all the borrowed books on time. Don’t write or draw on the book pages. Then other people can read the clean books too.
We also need to be very careful in museums. There are many old and easily broken things here, like old pots and nice paintings. So never touch the exhibitions, no matter how interesting they look. Walk along the lines slowly and don’t run around. If you want to take photos, turn off your camera’s flash. Bright light is bad for the old displays (陈列物).
We should also follow the rules in cinemas. Get to the cinema a few minutes early. If you arrive late, you will disturb others when you walk in and look for your seat. During the movie, keep your phone silent all the time. Don’t eat noisy snacks like chips—the sound will bother people watching the film. After the movie, take your rubbish and throw it into the bin to keep the cinema clean.
These rules are easy to follow. When we follow these rules in public places, everyone can enjoy reading, learning or watching movies without trouble. It’s all about being kind to people around us!

I started to work as a cook at the age of 25. But my love for cooking started at an early age, when I was about 5 years old—by watching my grandmother and my mum in the kitchen prepare daily meals for the family. I went to markets to shop for the freshest ingredients with my grandfather. My grandfather taught me the skill of picking out “the best”.
From a young age, I have had this love for food. Growing up in Morocco, I saw the amazing hospitality (好客) and generosity (慷慨) through my grandparents. They opened their house to everybody, and fed the poor travellers, family and friends.
Food is almost as emotional (情感的) as it is necessary, and food makes people feel things. I really think that food tastes its best when there is a story behind it. Food brings people together, and goes into the heart.
In my kitchen, I try to duplicate (复制) smells and tastes. They make me think about more than what I’m actually smelling and tasting—they can make me think of my life, my family and my history. I love to cook food that touches people’s emotions and memories; my philosophy (信条) is to “keep food real and simple”.
