I am Tony. I’d like to tell you about my favorite kind of music. There are many kinds of music, but I like classical music best.
I think classical music has a lasting value and it’s more attractive than any other kind of music, so it’s worth enjoying. I have been to many concerts for classical music in my free time and I enjoyed all of them and felt really great.
However, it seems that most young people prefer pop music and they think pop music is cool. Whatever happens, I won’t change my love for classical music. I hope more and more people will love it, too.

I never thought a handshake before and after a job interview was a form of etiquette (礼仪), and no one told me. In fact, it is 46 to have a three-second handshake that starts the interview and another one right after it.
Once, I was at a job 47 . After the interview, I had already got out of the manager’s room when I realized I had forgotten to shake his hand with a “thank you”. So I 48 to his office, went straight to him and offered my hand. What a disaster! I felt so embarrassed (尴尬的). I thought I must look 49 at that moment. Clearly, I failed the interview. I still remember that funny memory until today.
Another time, I was 50 to a wedding dinner. It was the first time I had dinner at such an expensive restaurant. On the table there were more than 10 kinds of special 51 I had never tried before. “I loved the Pan Tow!” I 53 at once.
There was a moment of silence, and then she explained that a Pan Tow was not a dish but the pan on which the dish was cooked.

Living in a culture that is different from your own can be a both exciting and challenging experience. You have to learn different cultural practices and try to fit in with them.
Privacy—Chinese people don’t have the same idea of privacy as Americans do. Chinese people often talk about ages, income or marriage, but Americans think it’s impolite to talk about them.

Family—It’s a tradition in China to show great respect to the elders and give love and care to the young. American families usually try to encourage independence, especially the independence of children. Unlike the Chinese, old Americans don’t like to live with their children.
Friends—Chinese people and Americans have different opinions about friends. For the Chinese, just hanging out together from time to time is not friendship. Friendship means lifelong friends. They feel deeply honest to give each other whatever help might seem required. Americans always call all the people they meet “friends”, so the meaning of friends is general and different. There are work friends, playing friends, school friends and drinking friends.
Money—As is well known, the Chinese like to save. They are always clever to spend little when they are planning to spend money. It is different in the USA, where far fewer families are saving money for future use or education.
Education—Chinese people usually think education is very important in life. Well, Americans pay more attention to good character and faith (信仰).
Collectivism vs. Individualism (集体主义与个人主义)—If you achieve something in the US, it’s because you are great and have the ability. While in China, if you achieve something, it’s because the team or the family is great.

If you are comfortable showing off your moves on the dance floor, you may know what to do if someone asks you to join them in a twist (扭动), a jive (跳摇摆舞), a hustle (猛拉), a pogo (原地上下跳) or even a bit of moshing (狂舞)! But if they ask you to join them for a street dance, which moves would you make? Of course, you might be a little confused. The truth is, street dance is a mix of several forms of dance, coming from different periods of time and even different countries.
The name “street dance” is connected to those forms of dance which are popular in the streets, parks, clubs and alleyways (小巷) of cities like London and New York. But it covers everything from break dancing (霹雳舞) to body popping (震感舞), body locking and house dancing.
There are very few rules. Street dance is often improvised (即兴表演) and done among friends while listening to a mobile music player. It is open to anyone of any age, anywhere and any time.
Because it is a social activity, it has provided many young people, especially those in poorer city areas with a strong gang (帮派) culture, helping these young people getting into trouble. For example, the street dance group-Diversity, was formed when a group of brothers and friends from East London and Essex got together. The group has achieved fame because of a popular television talent show-Britain’s Got Talent. For others, the inspiration may be a local street-dance club led by a professional instructor (教练), or a local group of friends who get together just for fun.

五、任务型阅读(每小题2分,共10分)
You may have already forgotten the days when you had to learn how to use chopsticks. Every Chinese kid struggles with them for some time. But chopsticks are not just simple tools to pick up food. They come with their own special rules and traditions. Let’s learn the rules and traditions behind chopsticks.
Generally, people should not make noise with chopsticks. Playing with chopsticks is seen as bad manners, just as playing with forks and knives in a Western country would be rude. There are also some superstitions(迷信 ) related to chopsticks. For example, some people believe that chopsticks should not be left standing upright in a bowl. It looks like the incense (香 )that Chinese use to honor(祭奠 )the dead. Doing it at the dinner table is believed to bring bad luck.

You should not tap chopsticks on the edge of the bowl either, as beggars(乞丐)do this to ask for food. Parents might get angry if children do this as they don’t want their children to be as poor as beggars in the future.
Chopsticks can also be a great gift. In Chinese, “chopsticks” are known as “kuaizi”, which means to have babies soon. Newlyweds( 新 婚夫妇 )sometimes receive chopsticks as a wedding gift. Skilled craftsmen( 手艺人 )paint beautiful images on chopsticks to make them look like fine artwork.
66.What do people think if you play with your chopsticks?
