They are introducing their parents to a whole new world. These children are influencing their families in great ways, leading parents that used to stick to old habits to try new hobbies or goods. In July, public relations company DKC made a report on parents of this generation, which stressed the very trend (趋势,潮流). According to the report, many parents are now welcoming new experiences based on their children’s suggestions. How Gen Alpha Kids Are Driving New Trends The report calls Gen Alpha “technology-aware” and “culture-shaping” — two traits (特征) that make these kids natural trendsetters for their families. It explains that kids in this age group aren’t just following trends themselves; they’re actively encouraging their parents to step out and try new things. For example, 66% of parents say they’ve tried different foods on the advice of a Gen Alpha kid. And 40% of the parents surveyed say they’ve signed up for a subscription (订阅) service at their kid’s suggestion. (Find more examples from the survey in the bar graph below.) DKC GEN ALPHA REPORT 2025 The Economic (经济的) Influence of Young Voices The numbers show that kids are having a great economic influence. Members of Gen Alpha may not be old enough for part-time jobs or make some money in other ways on their own, but their young voices carry weight when it comes to family spending. “It’s not just thinking about what an 8 to 14-year-old is going to buy or ask their parents to buy for them,” DKC president Matthew Traub said. “It’s how they’re influencing the whole family’s spending decisions.” 21.What is the DKC’s report mainly about? A. The popular hobbies of Gen Alpha kids. B. The work that the DKC company has done. C. The secret behind the name “Gen Alpha”. D. The effects that Gen Alpha kids have on parents. 22.In which of the following do Gen Alpha kids have the strongest influence? A. Trying different foods. B. Watching different sports. C. Buying goods during sales. D. Using new beauty things. 23.How do Gen Alpha kids influence economy? A. They bring about new jobs. B. They spend a lot on themselves. C. They shape the family spending habits.D. They prefer to make money independently. B St. Bernard Parish firefighter Nixon was driving home with his wife after a celebration when he noticed some smoke near the Mississippi state line. As he got closer, he saw a car that had crashed into a large truck — its body was twisted, and the tyres (轮胎) were already burning. It seemed all resulted from the turn the car driver had suddenly made. The car was soon catching fire, and Nixon knew someone might be trapped inside. Quickly, he pulled over and rushed toward the burning car. First, he knocked at the driver’s window, calling out to check if the driver was okay and if anyone else was in the car, but there was no answer. His heart raced a little with fear, but he pushed the feeling aside; he circled to the right passenger side, his attention fixed only on getting the person out. By then, the fire had spread to the car’s inside, and thick smoke rose. Nixon used his hands to try breaking the windshield (挡风玻璃). When the windshield finally broke, he reached in, held the driver who had passed out, lifted her up, and pushed her out through the broken opening. Just as he got out of the car safely, the car was totally on fire. Moments later, firefighters from St. Tammany Fire Protection District arrived, but the car was already burned down. The woman was rushed to a New Orleans hospital. Nixon’s hands were treated for the cuts made when he broke the windshield, but he said the experience felt deeply meaningful: “Saving her life made all the pain worth it,” he noted, adding that the act of rescuing her had lifted his spirits in an unexpected way. 24.What probably caused the accident? A. The car driver lost control due to heavy smoke. B. The car driver made a sudden change in direction. C. The large truck stopped unexpectedly on the road. D. The car’s tyres broke before reaching the state line. 25.What happened in the rescue process? A. The car driver came back to life in time. B. The truck driver called for help immediately. C. Nixon got injured when breaking the windshield. D. Local firefighters arrived soon and put out the fire. 26.Which words can best describe Nixon? A. Outgoing and polite. B. Humorous and careful. C. Patient and creative. D. Brave and responsible. 27.What message does the text deliver? A. Car accidents are common near state lines. B. Firefighters should always put others’ safety first. C. Helping others can bring a strong sense of satisfaction. D. Timely medical treatment is key to survivors of accidents. C Many of us start exercising in the hope of losing unwanted pounds. Unquestionably, aiming to be more active is a good thing. But if the main reason is to lose weight, your decision could very well come to nothing. For starters, exercise is typically futile for weight loss. Take walking for example. A 150-pound person who walks for 30 minutes will burn, on average, around 140 calories. That’s equal to one can of soda — not exactly a great return on your hard work of time and effort. It’s much easier just to skip the soda. When exercise is added to a diet, the results are equally unimpressive. Researchers found that a combination of dieting and exercising produced no greater weight loss than dieting alone after six months. At 12 months, the diet-and-exercise combination showed an advance, but it was slight — about 4 pounds on average. In studies where exercise has produced meaningful weight loss, participants burned at least 400 to 500 calories per workout on five or more days a week. To achieve that, a 150-pound person would need to walk a minimum of 90 minutes or run 30 minutes per day. In short, these workouts need to go well beyond what most of us are willing or able to do. And even if we manage to make that much effort, our bodies often compensate (弥补) by increasing desire for food and slowing down metabolism (新陈代谢), which over time limits how many pounds we lose. When exercise fails to meet our weight-loss expectations, we often stop working out. Perhaps the biggest problem with exercising to drop pounds is that it turns physical activity into punishment — a price we have to pay for a slimmer body. How many times have you heard someone say “I’ll need to do extra exercise” after eating too much? We treat exercise as a form of self-punishment for being “bad”. In this case, we’re unlikely to keep doing it for very long. The conclusion is that we’re more likely to treat exercise positively and actually do it when we focus on our well-being rather than our weight. 28.What does the underlined word “futile” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Useless. B. Necessary. C. Basic. D. Painful. 29.What can we learn about the combination of dieting and exercising? A. It’s much less effective than dieting alone. B. It’s much more useful within six months. C. It shows little advantage after six months. D. It has an impressive advance after a year. 30.Why does the body’s compensation mechanism affect weight loss? A. It increases people’s hunger and slows down metabolism. B. It takes people shorter time to burn more calories. C. It helps people to do more exercise to lose weight. D. It makes people pay more attention to their well-being. 31.What is the author’s recommended approach to exercise? A. Use exercise as a warning. B. Focus on health rather than weight. C. Avoid exercise when you’re upset. D. Combine proper exercise with diet. D For many professional athletes, retirement (退役) means saying goodbye to training and competitions. But for Shang Chunsong, former captain of China’s national women’s gymnastics team and an Olympic bronze medalist, it means the beginning of an exciting journey in another sport-parkour (跑酷) . On Nov 17, 28-year-old Shang won the gold medal in women’s freestyle at the Parkour World Championships in Japan, becoming the first Chinese athlete to win a world championship in parkour. Before becoming a rising star in parkour, Shang had a great career in gymnastics, marked by both success and regrets. She joined the national gymnastics team in 2010 and became the captain of the women’s team. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Shang helped China bring home the bronze medal in the team event. However, she finished fourth in the women’s individual all- around competition, missing out on a medal. Such regrets became a burden (负担) for Shang. Although she had many victories in national competitions, she has never won a world championship. She retired from gymnastics in 2022 and decided to switch to parkour, an exciting extreme sport. Years of hard training in gymnastics prepares Shang’s move to parkour, as both sports require skills and flexibility (灵活性) . Compared to the strict rules of gymnastics, parkour has a more open style, giving Shang a strong sense of freedom. However, “the biggest challenge of the extreme sport is overcoming fear,” Shang said. Parkour landings occur on hard surfaces, greatly increasing the risk of injury. While parkour training often leaves Shang injured, she continues to chase her passion. Her next goal is to win gold at the next World Games. As she said, “I dream of seeing parkour become an Olympic event one day — hopefully while I’m still competing”. 32.What is the main purpose of paragraph 1? A. To describe the common challenges athletes face after retirement. B. To provide detailed background on Shang’s gymnastics career. C. To compare the difficulty between gymnastics and parkour. D. To introduce Shang’s unusual career shift from gymnastics to parkour. 33.According to Shang Chunsong, what is the biggest challenge in parkour? A. Facing the fear of getting injured. B. Following strict scoring rules. C. Lacking previous relevant experience. D. Balancing it with her past gymnastics career. 34.What can be inferred about Shang’s future plan? A. She hopes to coach young gymnasts in China. B. She plans to retire after the next World Games. C. She wants to compete until parkour enters the Olympics. D. She wants to focus on winning more national titles. 35.What can we learn from Shang’s story? A. Success in one sport ensures quick success in another. B. Past regrets can be turned into a new beginning. C. Overcoming fear and training hard can lead to new achievements. D. Older athletes should take up parkour to feel free. 第二节 七选五 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项多余选项。 Close friends are connected to a happy and meaningful life. But what if you’ve recently moved to a new place, taken a new job, your closest friends have all gone off to college, and you’re naturally shy? 36 After all, they can be so important in improving your positive feelings and meaning in life. 37 For every 10 hours spent together, there is about a 4% increase in the possibility of calling that person a friend rather than a casual acquaintance (熟人). People begin to move from acquaintances to not-so-close friends after spending around 30 hours together. It takes at least 140 hours together to become close friends, and it takes at least 300 hours together before someone is thought of as a best friend. Be an active listener. When you are paying attention to what your conversation partner is saying, they feel understood, accepted, and cared for. How do you make it obvious that you are paying attention? Simple movements such as eye contact and nodding will help. 38 Open up. Real friendships need honesty. 39 Start with small truths, like your favorite hobby or a recent trouble. Sharing little by little builds trust, helping you connect in the long term. Be helpful. One thing about friendship is universal (普遍的): Friends help one another out. In traditional societies, this often meant sharing food or helping one another build a house. 40 But you can also help your new acquaintance by helping with homework, offering a ride when their car is under repair, or simply providing information they need. A. Reach out in time. B. Spend time together. C. Why is it necessary for you to start first? D. But you don’t have to share deep secrets at first. E. And they make both sides of you enjoy the conversation. F. In the modern world, sharing food is still a great way to try. G. Is there anything you can do to make stronger connections with other people? Emma had always been the quietest student in her class. Mr. Mike, his English teacher, had inspired him to participate in the speech contest. “Your pronunciation is great,” Mr. Mike had said, patting him on the shoulder. Yet Jack understood his own reality: he often forgot his lines (台词) when speaking in public or when he was nervous. Every afternoon after class, Jack stayed in the empty classroom, practicing alone. He marked his lines with colored pens and spoke the lines to the silent walls. Sometimes he pretended Mr. Mike was sitting in the front row, nodding approvingly. The big day finally arrived. Jack’s legs were shaking as he waited on the backstage. Through the curtains, he saw the sea of faces in the hall. Suddenly, a staff member rushed in. “We need to cut two minutes from each speech” Jack’s heart sank — his carefully timed lines now had a gaping hole. He didn’t know what contents should be cut off. He froze there. Just at that time, Mr. Mike appeared beside him. “Think of it as a chance to adapt to the change,” the teacher said softly. “If you don’t know what to talk about, you can TELL YOUR STORY.” But Jack’s mind went blank. When his name was called, he stumbled (跌跌撞撞) onto the stage, microphone trembling (颤抖) in his hand. The first sentence came out shakily. Then disaster struck. Jack forgot all his lines. The audience shifted in their seats and waited for his next sentence. With so many eyes fixed on him, his face went red and his throat tightened. He wanted to run from the stage. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Just then, he noticed Mr. Mike looking at him full of expectation. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ When he finished his speech, a great round of applause filled the hall. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ 定远育才学校2025-2026学年高一(下)开学考试 英语试题答案 1.A 2.A 3.B 4.B 5.C 6. You asked about how to maintain friendship, and I’d like to share my ideas. First, trust is the foundation of any true friendship. You must be honest with your friends, because a friendship that is built on lies will soon break. Second, shared hobbies help deepen your connection. I have a friend who loves reading as I do. We often exchange books and talk about stories, which makes our friendship stronger. In fact, friendship needs care from both sides. As long as you treat others sincerely, you’ll keep precious friendships. Yours, Li Hua Just then, he noticed Mr. Mike looking at him full of expectation. Mr. Mike’s eyes sparkled with encouragement, and he made a gentle “come on” gesture with his hand. Jack’s racing heart slowed a little — he thought of those afternoons practicing alone, the colored marks on his script, and his teacher’s constant support. Taking a shaky but deep breath, he gripped the microphone tightly, his fingers no longer trembling. Instead of struggling to recall the prepared lines, he started talking about his fear of public speaking and how he’d pushed himself to practice every day. His voice grew steadier as he spoke from the heart, eyes shining with sincerity. When he finished his speech, a great round of applause filled the hall. Jack stood frozen for a moment, unable to believe the warm response. The audience’s cheers echoed in his ears, and he felt a surge of joy and relief rushing through his body. He bowed deeply, his face breaking into a bright smile. As he stepped off the stage, Mr. Mike pulled him into a firm hug. “You told the most wonderful story,” the teacher said proudly. Jack’s nervousness had vanished completely, replaced by a sense of achievement he would never forget. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
