My Online Tour of Digital Dunhuang
I first knew about Digital Dunhuang from my Chinese lesson, and I have visited its official website many times so far. It is a fantastic digital project that shows the beauty of the Mogao Caves in Gansu.
On the website, I could tour nearly 300 caves and zoom in on the delicate murals and sculptures with high-quality 3D images. Besides, there are wonderful video tours that introduce the history and culture of the Mogao Caves in detail. I didn’t need to worry about the crowds or the distance, and I could stop to enjoy the artworks whenever I wanted.
It was an amazing experience to explore Digital Dunhuang online. Thanks to digital technology, we can not only appreciate the great Chinese cultural heritage easily but also protect the Mogao Caves from being damaged by too many visitors.
