(25-26高二上·上海·月考)Directions: Fill in the blanks to make the passages coherent and grammatically correct. For the blanks with a given word, fill in each blank with the proper form of the given word; for the other blanks, use one word that best fits each blank.
Are touchscreens in cars dangerous?
It might not have been the first to have a touchscreen but it was Tesla’s Model S, with its minimalist cabin built around a huge full-colour display, 1 set the trend. For years almost every new car sold 2 (come) with a high-tech, futuristic screen, which controls 3 from the air conditioning and satnav (卫星导航) to the music. Even safety features like automatic lane-keeping are sometimes screen-controlled.
But are touchscreens safe? Drivers can learn the location of physical controls, and press buttons or twiddle dials 4 taking their eyes off the road (not least because a lot of the most useful ones are often on the steering wheel). A touchscreen offers no physical feedback, 5 (make) that much harder. And because a screen must do dozens of jobs, finding a particular setting often means tapping through several sub-menus. The result, say critics, is a dangerous distraction built into the car 6 .
Research backs that up. In 2022 Vi Bilagare, a Swedish motoring magazine, measured 7 it took drivers to do things like changing the temperature while driving at 110 kilometres per hour. It compared 11 cars with touchscreens to an older model with real buttons. In the old car, drivers were able to do all their tasks within ten seconds, during which time the car travelled around 300 metres. In the worst-performing modern car, the same tasks took 45 seconds, during which the car travelled 1.4km. Even in the best-performing models, testers still took several seconds longer than in the old car.
Safety organisations are beginning to notice. From January, new rules from Euro NCAP, an organisation that provides safety ratings for cars sold in Europe, will mean no car 8 get a full five-star score 9 certain crucial functions—for instance, the windscreen wipers — are controlled by real switches. Euro NCAP’s safety guidelines have no legal force. But carmakers use its ratings as a selling-point.
Carmakers that revert to buttons may reap other benefits, too. Many drivers dislike touchscreens for reasons 10 safety, finding them fiddly (繁琐的) and annoying to use. Volkswagen and Porsche, among others, have begun restoring some buttons to their new models, citing drivers’ dislike of screens. But innovation never stops. Even as touchscreens are falling out of favour, many manufacturers are turning their attention to voice control—though that is a subject for another story.
1.that 2.has come 3.everything 4.without 5.making 6.itself 7.how long 8.can 9.unless 10.other than/apart from/aside from
本句中被强调部分是“Tesla’s Model S, with its minimalist cabin built around a huge full-colour display”,并非人,所以用that。故填that。
根据时间状语“For years”可知,此处应用现在完成时,其结构为“have/has +过去分词”,主语“almost every new car”是单数,所以用has come。故填has come。
故填without。
故填how long。
故填can。
根据语境,此处表示除了安全原因,还有其他原因,所以用other than/apart from/aside from,意为“除…… 故填other than/apart from/aside from。
(25-26高二上·上海·月考)Directions: After reading the passage below, fill in the blanks to make the passage coherent and grammatically correct. For the blanks with a given word, fill in each blank with the proper form of the given word; for the other blanks, use one word that best fits each blank.
Jia Guolong, founder of Xibei, a popular restaurant chain known for its northwestern Chinese cuisine, announced that he 1 (open) the kitchens of the chain’s 370-plus outlets in China 2 consumers could inspect them — and verify his earlier claim that they do not use yuzhicai or pre-made dishes. He, however, likely did not expect the exact opposite effect 3 would have.
Taking Jia up on his offer, reporters and visitors livestreamed their kitchen tours, discovering packaged frozen items 4 fish, meat, and soup with shelf lives of up to two years. The revelations further fueled public resistance to the restaurant.
“I watched the livestream — the lamb chops have a shelf life of 24 months!” read 5 (liked) comment under Xibei’s official account on microblogging platform Weibo on September 12, the first day of its open-kitchen show. “The roasted fish is frozen too, and lasts for 12 months! If this does not count as pre-made, then nothing does.” Another phrase circulating online drove the point home: “One-year-old kids eat two-year-old broccoli,” ridiculing the shelf life of frozen broccoli 6 (use) in the chain’s children’s meal sets, one of its specialties alongside northwestern Chinese dishes.
The resistance was triggered by Luo Yonghao, 7 top livestreamer. After dining at a Xibei restaurant on September 10, the celebrity entrepreneur criticized it for selling “almost all pre-made, and expensive, dishes,” adding it was “truly disgusting” and urging national rules 8 (establish) to require clear labeling.
Jia, however, maintained that his stores do not serve pre-made dishes, a claim supported by many industry insiders who cited a 2024 notice, which defines yuzhicai as meals made from agricultural products 9 undergo industrial pre-processing and require heating, explicitly excluding frozen staples, instant meals, and some central-kitchen-prepared foods — the very types of ingredients Xibei uses.
These guidelines differ from traditional ideas of 10 constitutes fresh and healthy ingredients. Jia said that Xibei’s daily turnover 11 drop by 2-3 million yuan after complaints. The fallout has wider industry impacts, as 85% of yuzhicai output goes to restaurants.
While more consumers accept pre-prepared food for its convenience and affordability, trust remains low due to scandals and poor transparency. In September, for instance, Shanghai parents reported odd-smelling shrimp and frozen meat with long shelf lives in school meals. Five days after Luo’s post, Xibei apologized, 12 (promise) fresh on-site cooking and safer ingredients.

故填would open。
“open the kitchens of the chain’s 370 - plus outlets in China”的目的是“consumers could inspect them”,所以用so that引导目的状语从句,意为“以便”。故填so that。
故填it。
故填such as。
故填the most liked。
故填used。
故填a。
urge sb. to do sth. 故填to be established/be established/should be established。
故填that/which。
故填what。
故填might/could。

Gen Z’s Growing Fascination with Retro Technology
Generation Z, those in their teens and early twenties, are showing a growing interest in retro technology — a trend that has taken the consumer market by surprise. Unlike previous generations who chased 1 (late) gadgets, today’s young people are digging out vinyl records (黑胶唱片), loading film into traditional cameras, and dusting off vintage gaming consoles. This shift, 2 (spring) from a deep desire for authenticity and a deliberate break from the digital overload of modern devices, has reshaped young people’s consumption preferences.
The appeal lies in the tangible, unhurried experience 3 every step feels intentional and meaningful. Vinyl records, for instance, are about the hands-on ceremonial process 4 just music: flipping through album covers, carefully placing the needle, and savoring the warm, analog sound that digital streams can’t replicate. Similarly, 5 instant cameras offer is a joy that modern smartphones are lacking in: waiting for a photo to develop, holding a physical print, and sharing it 6 the pressure of filters or likes. Even old gaming consoles like the Nintendo 64 or Sega Genesis attract Gen Z, who appreciate their simple, straightforward gameplay free from microtransactions and online toxicity.
Retailers have quickly adapted to this trend, with many launching dedicated retro tech sections. Sales of portable turntables, polaroid-style instant cameras, and even classic alarm clocks (no phone required) 7 (surge) in recent years. Online marketplaces like Etsy and eBay report record numbers of young buyers searching for “vintage tech”, while mainstream brands have released modern iterations of retro favorites 8 (cater) to the demand.
Opinions on the trend vary: some dismiss it as a fleeting aesthetic phase, tied to social media’s love for nostalgic visuals. 9 , however, see it as a meaningful rebellion against digital fatigue. For Gen Z, retro tech isn’t just about the past-it’s about reclaiming control over their tech use. 10 motivated by nostalgia (for a time they didn’t live through), a love for tactile experiences, or a genuine preference for simpler design, this trend reveals Gen Z’s unique, thoughtful relationship with technology.
1.the latest 2.springing 3.where 4.rather than/instead of 5.what 6.without 7.have surged 8.to cater 9.Others 10.Whether
故填rather than/instead of。
故填what。
故填without。
Sales of portable turntables, polaroid-style instant cameras, and even classic alarm clocks,助动词用have。故填have surged。
故填to cater。
故填Whether。
