Guess what你猜怎么着;C. So what那又如何;D. Why not为什么不呢?根据空格后句句意可知,第二个说话人对于迈克尔迟到这件反常的行为感到很不解,故所选用语应表达疑惑的用途。故选A。 2._______ in such a crisis creates powerful bonds between people from different parts of the world. A.Caught up B.Having caught up C.Catching up D.To be caught up 【答案】D 【详解】考查非谓语动词。句意:陷入这样的危机,在世界各地的人们之间建立了强大的联系。catch up表示“卷入”,句中已有谓语creates,空处作非谓语动词,catch up作句子主语,且表示一次性的动作,应用动词不定式形式,且结合语意可知,此处表示被卷入危机中,不定式使用被动式形式,作句子主语。故选D项。 3.For me, Snow’s writing, Red Star over China ______, is a must-read for anyone with an interest in that period. A.in vain B.in advance C.in particular D.in time 【答案】C 【详解】考查介词短语辨析。句意:对我来说,斯诺的作品,尤其是《红星照耀中国》,是任何对那个时期感兴趣的人的必读之作。A. in vain徒劳地;B. in advance提前;C. in particular尤其,特别;D. in time及时。根据后文“is a must-read”指斯诺的作品中,尤其是《红星照耀中国》是任何对那个时期感兴趣的人的必读之作。应用in particular。故选C。 4.In a world still facing so many problems, it is still absolutely essential for us all to _______ to create a global community with a shared future of peace and prosperity. You’ll realize how little you really need. Cooking Class You could go with a friend to ease you in, or make new ‘foodie’ friends there - search for classes in your local area online. Or, if attending a class might be a few steps too far for you, you can still breathe some life into your tried and tested kitchen favorites by exploring new recipes. Clubbercise Group exercise classes can have many benefits, but personally I’ve always found the concept terrifying. But the great thing about Clubbercise classes is that you can enjoy them in the dark! There are no eyes on you if you miss a step, so you can completely let loose and have fun - who doesn’t feel better after dancing? Rock Climbing Rock climbing helps to develop your problem-solving skills as you navigate your way up the wall. Plus, rock climbing is quite an accessible activity. As “seeing the route” is less important than “feeling” your way up or keeping balance, it can be great for those with visual problems. 36.What are you advised to do if you want to go camping? A.Bring some friends with you. B.Take some classes in advance. C.Leave your cellphone at home. D.Explore new ways of cooking. 37.Where are you supposed to learn about cooking classes? A.From friends. B.On the Internet. C.In the neighborhood. D.Through organizations. 38.What kind of activity does Clubbercise include? A.Doing morning workouts outside. B.Taking one-on-one training. C.Observing others’ performance. D.Dancing with people in darkness. 39.Which activity would you suggest to a short-sighted friend? A.Camping. B.Cooking Class. I was selected and told I had potential. They said that for only $900 I could attend a weekend event which dozens of the most prestigious (有声望的) modeling agencies from around the world would attend. At 13, my hopes of fame and fortune clouded all judgment and I begged my parents to let me go. We have never been rich, but they saw my enthusiasm and agreed. I imagined being signed by some famous model companies. For months, any boredom or disappointment was pushed aside because I knew I would soon have the chance to be a real model. I thought I would grace the covers of famous magazines! Of course, I wasn’t signed, but what hurt me most was being told that if I grew to 5’9” (about 1.75 metres) I could be a success. I prayed for a growth spurt (冲刺) because I could not imagine giving up my dream. I made an appointment with a local modeling agency and the agent demanded $ 500 for classes, $500 for a photo shoot, and $ 300 for other expenses. My parents only agreed after hours and hours of me begging. The agency sent me out on a few auditions, but with every day I didn’t receive a call I grew more depressed. The final straw came in July after I had decided to focus on commercial (广告) modeling. There was an open call in New York City. We spent hours driving and another few hours waiting, only to be told that I was too short I was devastated (感到难以承受的). Years later Ire zed that the trip to New York was good as it made me notice I didn’t actually love modeling, just the idea of it. I wanted to be special and I was innocently determined to reach an impossible goal. The experience has made me stronger and that will help me in the future. 41.What’s the main reason why the author wanted to be a model? A.She won a national contest. B.She realized that it was impossible for her. C.Even a local modeling agency turned her down. D.She realized that she didn’t actually love the idea of modeling. 44.The underlined phrase “The final straw” probably means A.the last in a series of bad things that happen to make someone very upset angry, etc B.the final result that she was admitted by the model company C.the final audition given by the agency D.the decision that she made at last not to be a model anymore 45.What did the author learn from her experience of struggling to be a model? We spent hours driving and another few hours waiting, only to be told that I was too short I was devastated(感到难以承受的).(最后一根稻草是在7月份,当时我决定专注于商业模特。纽约市有一个公开电话。我们花了几个小时开车,又等了几个小时,结果被告知我太矮了,我很伤心)”可知,作者被很多的公司拒绝,最后她专注于商业模特的希望也破灭了。由此可推知,她是意识到了她不可能成为模特这件事结束了她成为模特的尝试。故选B。 44.词句猜测题。根据第三段第一句话“The agency sent me out on a few auditions, but with every day I didn’t receive a call I grew more depressed. (经纪公司派我去试镜了几次,但每天我都没有接到电话,我变得越来越沮丧)”以及最后一句话“We spent hours driving and another few hours waiting, only to be told that I was too short I was devastated(感到难以承受的).(我们花了几个小时开车,又等了几个小时,结果被告知我太矮了,我很伤心)”可知,作者被拒绝了很多次,最后专注于商业模特的希望也破灭了,所以这件事是一系列坏事中的最后一件,结束了她的梦想。故选A。 45.细节理解题。根据最后一段“Years later Ire zed that the trip to New York was good as it made me notice I didn’t actually love modeling, just the idea of it. I wanted to be special and I was innocently determined to reach an impossible goal. The experience has made me stronger and that will help me in the future.(几年后,我意识到纽约之行很好,因为它让我注意到我其实并不喜欢模特,只是喜欢它的想法。我想变得特别,我天真地决心实现一个不可能实现的目标。这段经历让我变得更加坚强,这将在未来对我有所帮助)”可知,作者从她努力成为一名模特的经历中学到了有时候人们会设立不切实际的目标,但是经历能够帮助他们成长。故选D。 C Big Brothers Big Sisters is based on the simplicity and power of friendship. It is a program which provides friendship and fun by matching vulnerable young people(ages 7-17) with a volunteer adult who can be both a role model and a supportive friend. Volunteer tutors come from all walks of life—married, single, with or without children. Big Brothers and Big Sisters are not replacement parents or social workers. They are tutors: someone to trust, to have fun with, to talk and go to when needed. A Big Sister and Little Sister will generally spend between one and four hours together three or four times each month for at least twelve months. They enjoy simple activities such as a picnic at a park, cooking, playing sport or going to a football match. These activities improve the friendship and help the young person develop positive self-respect, confidence and life direction. Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations exist throughout the world. It is the largest and most well-known provider of tutor services internationally and has been operating for 25 years. Emily and Sarah have been matched since 2008. Emily is a 10-year-old girl who has experienced some difficulties being accepted by her schoolmates at school. “ I was pretty sure there was something wrong with me.” Emily’s mum came across Big Brothers Big Sisters and thought it would be of benefit to Emily by “providing different feedback (反馈) about herself other than just relying on schoolmates to measure her self-worth. Sarah wanted to get involved in a volunteer program. “I googled it and found out how to be a part of it. I thought it would be fun for me to get involved in making time to do something because sometimes it is all work and no play.” Big Brothers Big Sisters has been of great benefit and enjoyment to both Emily and Sarah. They love and look forward to their time together and the partnership has certainly helped Emily be more comfortable in being the wonderful, happy and unique girl she is! 46.What is the aim of Big Brothers Big Sisters? A.To offer students public services. B.To help students improve their grades. C.To organize sport activities for young people. D.To provide partnership and fun for young people. 47.A volunteer is usually expected to work within a year for at least______. A.24 hours B.36 hours C.48 hours D.72 hours 48.According to Emily’s mother, this program may provide Emily with______. A.advice from her teachers B.a new way to assess herself C.a new way to judge her schoolmates D.more comments from her schoolmates 49.Why did Sarah want to get involved in the program? A.She used to be a volunteer. B.She needed a part-time job. C.She felt a bit bored with her life. D.She wanted to get a challenging job. 50.According to the passage, “vulnerable young people” are probably those who are _________. A.popular at school B.rather weak physically C.easily hurt emotionally D.confident in themselves 【答案】46.D 47.B 48.B 49.C 50.C 【导语】这是一篇说明文。介绍了一个公益项目Bigger Brothers Bigger Sisters,其宗旨是为脆弱的7至17岁未成年人搭配成年志愿者,为他们提供友谊和乐趣,从而帮助他们增强自信,把握人生方向。 46.细节理解题。根据第一段第二句“It is a program which provides friendship and fun by matching vulnerable young people(ages 7-17) with a volunteer adult who can be both a role model and a supportive friend.(这是一个为脆弱的年轻人(7-17岁)提供友谊和乐趣的项目,为这些年轻人搭配的成年志愿者既可以是榜样,也可以成为支持他们的朋友)”可知,该项目的目的是为年轻人提供伙伴和乐趣。故选D。 47.细节理解题。根据第三段第一句“A Big Sister and Little Sister will generally spend between one and four hours together three or four times each month for at least twelve months.(成年志愿者与未成年人通常每次相处1—4小时的时间,每月3—4次,至少保持12个月)”可知,志愿者一年的服务时间至少是1*3*12=36小时。故选B。 48.细节理解题。 根据第六段“Emily’s mum came across Big Brothers Big Sisters and thought it would be of benefit to Emily by'providing different feedback (反馈) about herself other than just relying on schoolmates to measure her self-worth'.(Emily的妈妈遇到了Big Brothers Big Sisters,她认为“除了依靠同学们来衡量自我价值之外,还可以提供不同的反馈,这对Emily是有益的”)”可知,Emily的母亲认为参与这一项目可以让Emily获得不同的自我价值反馈途径。故选B。 49.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“I thought it would be fun for me to get involved in making time to do something because sometimes it is all work and no play.(我觉得抽时间做一些事对我来说很有趣,因为有时候只有工作没有娱乐)”可知,Sarah想通过这个项目做些有意义的事让自己快乐,由此可推知她觉得自己的生活有些无聊。故选C。 50.推理判断题。根据第三段最后一句“These activities improve the friendship and help the young person develop positive self-respect, confidence and life direction.(这些活动可以增进友谊,帮助年轻人培养积极的自尊、自信和人生方向)”可知,该项目是从心理情感方面扶持年轻人,由此可推知“vulnerabile young people”是心理情感方面需要疏通的年轻人,即“easily hurt emotionally(容易受到感情上的伤害)”的人。故选C。 D Technology seems to discourage slow, immersive reading. Reading on a screen, particularly a phone screen, tires your eyes and makes it harder for you to keep your place. So online writing tends to be more skimmable and list-like than print. The cognitive neuroscientist Mary Walt argued recently that this “new norm” of skim reading is producing ‘an invisible, game-changing transformation’ in how readers process words. The neuronal circuit (神经元回路) that sustains the brain’s capacity to read now favors the rapid absorption of information, rather than skills developed by deeper reading, like critical analysis. We shouldn’t overplay (过度强调) this danger. All readers skim. Skimming is the skill we acquire as children as we learn to read more skillfully. From about the age of nine, our eyes start to bounce around the page, reading only about a quarter of the words properly, and filling in the gaps by inference. Nor is there anything new in these fears about declining attention spans. So far the anxieties have proved to be false alarms . Quite a few critics have been worried about attention span lately and see very short stories as signs of cultural decline, the American author Selvin Brown wrote. “No one ever” said that poems were evidence of short attention spans. And yet the internet has certainly changed the way we read. For a start, it means that there is more to read, because more people than ever are writing. If you time travelled just a few decades into the past, you would wonder at how little writing was happening outside a classroom. And digital writing is meant for rapid release and response. An online article starts forming a comment string underneath as soon as it is published. This mode of writing and reading can be interactive and fun. But often it treats other people’s words as something to be quickly harvested as fodder (素材) to say something else. Everyone talks over the top of everyone else, desperate to be heard. Perhaps we should slow down. Reading is constantly promoted as a social good and source of personal achievement. But this advocacy often emphasizes “enthusiastic”, “passionate” or “eager” reading, none of which adjectives suggest slow, quiet absorption. To a slow reader, a piece of writing can only be fully understood by immersing oneself in the words and their slow comprehension of a line of thought. The slow reader is like a swimmer who stops counting the number of pool laps he has done and just enjoys now his body feels and moves in water. The human need for this kind of deep reading is too tenacious (坚决的) for any new technology to destroy. We often assume that technological change can’t be stopped and happens in one direction, so that older media like “dead-tree” books are kicked out by newer, more virtual forms. In practice, older technologies can coexist with new ones. The Kindle has not killed off the printed book any more than the car killed off the bicycle. We still want to enjoy slowly-formed ideas and carefully-chosen words. Even in a fast-moving age, there is time for slow reading. 51.What is the function of Paragraph 1? A.To introduce a prediction. B.To expose a debate. C.To present a phenomenon. D.To explain a theory. 52.What is the author’s attitude towards Selvin Browns opinion? A.Favorable. B.Critical. C.Indifferent. D.Objective. 53.The author would probably agree that . A.advocacy of passionate reading helps promote slow reading B.digital writing leads to too much speaking and not enough reflection C.the public should be aware of the impact skimming has on neuronal circuits D.the number of online readers is declining due to the advances of technology 54.How does the author explain what slow reading is? A.By showing examples. B.By making comparison. C.By analyzing details. D.By explaining the concept. 55.Why does the author write this article? A.To criticize the fast-paced society destroys reading habit. B.To show how digital technology prevents slow reading. C.To promote reading and responding on the Internet. D.To argue that slow reading is and will not be out of date. 【答案】51.C 52.A 53.B 54.B 55.D 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章主要讨论了慢阅读在数字时代的重要性和必要性,认为慢阅读不会过时。 51.推理判断题。根据第一段“Technology seems to discourage slow, immersive reading. Reading on a screen, particularly a phone screen, tires your eyes and makes it harder for you to keep your place. So online writing tends to be more skimmable and list-like than print.(科技似乎阻碍了缓慢、沉浸式的阅读。在屏幕上阅读,尤其是在手机屏幕上阅读,会让你的眼睛疲劳,让你更难保持注意力。因此,与印刷品相比,网络写作往往更易于浏览,更像列表)”可知,第一段描述了科技对阅读方式的影响这一现象。故选C。 52.推理判断题。根据第二段中“Nor is there anything new in these fears about declining attention spans. So far the anxieties have proved to be false alarms Quite a few critics have been worried about attention span lately and see very short stories as signs of cultural decline, the American author Selvin Brown wrote.(这些关于注意力持续时间缩短的担忧也并无新意。到目前为止,这些焦虑已被证明是虚惊一场。美国作家塞尔文·布朗写道:“最近不少评论家都在担心注意力持续时间的问题,并将短篇故事视为文化衰退的迹象。”)”可知,作者认同对注意力时长下降的担忧是虚惊一场的观点,而塞尔文・布朗的话正是为佐证该观点服务,因此作者对其观点持支持态度。故选A。 53.推理判断题。根据第三段“And digital writing is meant for rapid release and response. An online article starts forming a comment string underneath as soon as it is published. This mode of writing and reading can be interactive and fun. But often it treats other people’s words as something to be quickly harvested as fodder (素材) to say something else. Everyone talks over the top of everyone else, desperate to be heard.(数字写作是为了快速发布和回应。一篇在线文章一发表,下面就开始形成评论串。这种写作和阅读模式可以是互动的、有趣的。但它常常把别人的话当作可以迅速收获的素材,用来表达其他意思。每个人都抢着说话,渴望被听到)”可知,作者可能会同意数字写作导致了过多的说话而缺乏足够的反思。故选B。 54.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“To a slow reader, a piece of writing can only be fully understood by immersing oneself in the words and their slow comprehension of a line of thought. The slow reader is like a swimmer who stops counting the number of pool laps he has done and just enjoys now his body feels and moves in water.(对于一个慢读者来说,一篇文章只有沉浸在文字中,慢慢理解一条思路,才能完全理解。慢读者就像一个游泳者,他不再计算自己游了多少圈,而是享受着自己的身体在水中的感觉和移动)”可知,作者通过将慢阅读与游泳者的感受进行比较来解释慢阅读是什么。故选B。 55.推理判断题。根据最后一段“The human need for this kind of deep reading is too tenacious(坚决的) for any new technology to destroy. Even in a fast-moving age, there is time for slow reading.(人类对这种深度阅读的需求根深蒂固,任何新技术都无法将其抹杀。 I remember him on his first day in the sixth grade. He was the only black face in a sea of white. A few days later, he had yet to connect with anyone. Our teacher asked me to talk to him. So I went over to him and said, “Hi.” He replied, “Hi.” And that was it for day one. The next day, “What’s up?” “Not much.” We added a word or two each day until full sentences were formed, and then a paragraph. Soon we became good friends and our friendship survived new friendships and small arguments. One day, with nothing better to do, we played jokes on each other. When it was my turn, I expressed criticism of his choice of clothing. He was laughing as hard as I was. Strangely enough,I remember so much about that day except in what context (语境) the N-word (rude word for a black person) was used. My purposes were not to wound him obviously. He was my best friend. But the look on his face told me otherwise. It was a few days before we spoke again. Although we insisted we’d be friends forever, I never saw him after high school. It may not have had anything to do with what I said, or it may have had everything. By that point, we weren’t intimate enough for me to ask any more. Several days ago, there was a near race riot (暴动) during a high school basketball game, and angry teenagers shouted several rude words. These words brought back a flood of memories. All I wonder is if these kids will ever feel as bad as I did for using such a rude word. It’s a curse (诅咒) word, but the real curse is on the person who uses it. 56.What does the first paragraph talk about? (no more than 10 words) 57.What happened to the author’s friend according to Paragraph 2? (no more than 10 words) 58.What does the underlined word “intimate” in Paragraph 3 probably mean in English? (1 word) 59.What reminded the author of his unpleasant memories? (no more than 10 words) 60.What can we learn from the story between the author and his friend? (no more than 20 words) 【答案】56.How the author got to know his friend. 57.His friend was badly hurt by the author’s words. 58.Close./ Familiar. 59.Several rude words said by the angry teenagers. 60.We should be careful with our words to avoid hurting others. (开放式话题,答案合理即可。) 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述作者与六年级时唯一的黑人同学从相识到成为好友,后因作者使用不礼貌词汇导致友谊出现裂痕,多年后回忆此事仍感愧疚的故事。 56.考查主旨大意。根据第一段“I remember him on his first day in the sixth grade. He was the only black face in a sea of white. A few days later, he had yet to connect with anyone. Our teacher asked me to talk to him. So I went over to him and said, “Hi.” He replied, “Hi.” And that was it for day one. The next day, “What’s up?” “Not much.” We added a word or two each day until full sentences were formed, and then a paragraph.(我还记得他上六年级的第一天。在一片白人面孔中,他是唯一的黑人孩子。几天后,他仍未和任何人建立起联系。老师让我去跟他聊聊。于是我走到他面前,说了声“嗨”。他回了句“嗨”。第一天的交流就只有这些。第二天,我问“还好吗?”他答“还行。”我们每天都比前一天多聊一两个词,直到能说完整的句子,后来甚至能聊上一段话。)”可知,第一段主要讲述作者是如何认识他的朋友的。故答案为How the author got to know his friend. 57.考查细节理解。根据第二段中的“Strangely enough, I remember so much about that day except in what context (语境) the N-word (rude word for a black person) was used. My purposes were not to wound him obviously. He was my best friend. But the look on his face told me otherwise. (说来也怪,那天的很多细节我都记得清清楚楚,唯独想不起那个 N 字(对黑人的侮辱性称呼)是在什么语境下说出口的。显然,我并非有意要伤害他 —— 他是我最好的朋友。但他脸上的神情却告诉我,情况并非如此。)”可知,作者说了对黑人侮辱性的话语,由此可知,作者的朋友被作者的话深深伤害了。故答案为His friend was badly hurt by the author’s words. 58.考查词义猜测。根据第三段“Although we insisted we’d be friends forever, I never saw him after high school. It may not have had anything to do with what I said, or it may have had everything. By that point, we weren’t intimate enough for me to ask any more. 根据第四段“Several days ago, there was a near race riot during a high school basketball game, and angry teenagers shouted several rude words. These words brought back a flood of memories. (几天前,一场高中篮球赛中差点发生种族暴动,愤怒的青少年们喊出了一些粗鲁的话。这些话勾起了我一连串的回忆。)”可知,愤怒青少年喊的粗鲁话语让作者想起了不愉快的回忆。故答案为Several rude words said by the angry teenagers. 60.开放回答题。本题为开放性试题,答案合理即可。结合故事中作者因使用不礼貌词汇伤害朋友并感到愧疚,可总结出“说话时应当谨慎,以免伤害到他人”的启示。故答案为We should be careful with our words to avoid hurting others. Dear Sir or Madam. Clubbercise Group exercise classes can have many benefits, but personally I’ve always found the concept terrifying. B When I was young I wanted to be a model, so when a national contest was staged, I convinced my parents to take me for an audition (试演). A.Where there’s a will there’s away. B.Being a model is not that easy. C.We should have our own judgment and should not just follow others. A.popular at school B.rather weak physically C.easily hurt emotionally D.confident in themselves D Technology seems to discourage slow, immersive reading. (no more than 20 words) Dear Sir or Madam.
