Scientists in a research have connected the
kidney(肾脏)of a specially grown pig to a hu-
man body. They found that it worked without
problems. The research is a huge step forward
for tens of thousands of patients with kidney
trouble.
Human life greatly depends on healthy kid-
neys. One way to help patients with kidney
trouble is to take the place of their kidneys with
healthy ones.This is called a“transplant(移植).”
Transplants usually come from people who
have died but wanted their organs(器官)tobe
used to help other people live. But there are far
more patients with kidney trouble than there
are kidneys.
For years, scientists have tried to find out
how to transplant organs from other animals in-
to humans. This is hard because human body
always rejects(排异)something that isn'tits
own. This includes some transplants from hu-
mans.Scientists have tried transplanting or-
gans from monkeys, but this didn't work very
well.
More recently,scientists have focused
on transplants from pigs.In many ways,
pigs'organs are similar to humans'.It's very
easy to raise pigs, and they grow quickly. To
stop the body from rejecting the pig kidney,
scientists changed the pig's DNA a little.
Though the kidney wasn't placed inside the
patient's body, during that time when it was
connected to the patient, the kidney worked
well without being rejected. The success made
many people excited. And this progress could
open the door for other organ transplants.
1.What does the research mean for patients
with kidney trouble?
A.It guides them to work hard.
B.It brings hope to them.
C.It helps them raise pigs.
D.It improves their living standards.
2.What is the way to help patients with kidney
trouble according to Paragraph 2?
A.By keeping taking medicine every day.
B.By taking the place of their kidneys with
healthy ones.
C.By cutting the dead part of the kidney off.
D.By changing their DNA a little.

3.Why is it hard to transplant organs from oth-
er animals into human bodies?
A.Because they are not healthy enough.
B.Because they are not in the right size.
C.Because human body always doesn't accept
them.
D.Because there are not enough such animals
to meet the need.
4.What is the advantage of raising pigs for
transplants?
A.Pigs grow quickly.B.Pigs live healthily.
C.Pigs run fast.
D.Pigs weigh heavily.
5.Which of the following is NOT true accord-
ing to the passage?

body.
B.Healthy kidneys are important for human
life.
C.Pigs'kidneys may be good choices for peo-
ple with kidney trouble.
D.Many people felt happy about the research

ing in ocean parks around the world.People

to the ocean.
Edge Innovations,a US company,built a
life-like dolphin robot. It acts and sounds like a
real dolphin. It can swim for at most 10 hours
with enough electricity(电能)every time.
The company is now bringing these dol-
phin robots to people. It hopes these dolphin
robots will take the place of real dolphins in o-
cean parks.
In fact, people who want to protect ani-
mals are worried about the results of keeping
wild animals in parks. The animals have to per-
form for visitors many times a day,as well as
learning some lessons.
People around the world are doing more to
protect wild animals.Parks and circuses(马戏
