A cleaning staff (员工) member at the Summer Palace in Beijing has been widely praised online after a video of him explaining cultural relics and exhibitions to visitors during the recent National Day holiday was posted on the Internet. He has been dubbed the most powerful cleaning monk (僧人) by netizens.
In the video, the worker, Zhang Xu, 40, explains the sites to several tourists. What made it special was his clear explanation of dozens of hard-to-pronounce sites. He spoke with such confidence that it seemed like he was performing a tongue twister (绕口令). People thought he must be a tour guide or expert, yet he was wearing a cleaner's uniform. After his explanation, Zhang smiled and returned to his work as though nothing had happened.
The video was posted online on Oct.7 and immediately became a hot topic on social media. Netizens expressed amazement at how ordinary people can become experts in certain areas. “In Beijing, no matter what you do, you can have a deep understanding of history and culture. Sometimes ordinary people are willing to explain things to complete strangers in exchange for a simple thumbs-up,” said one netizen. Zhang is better than ordinary tour guides, and the palace should offer him a job as a docent (讲解员), another commented.
The cleaner, who lives in Beijing, said he was surprised he'd become famous online, as he only wanted to help the tourists who seemed confused. He told Beijing Daily that he had been interested in architecture since he was a child. His father works in the construction industry. He has been a security guard and construction worker and has always had a strong interest in traditional architecture. He often refers to books or finds information online in his spare time.
Zhang joined the cleaning staff at the palace in late 2021 and walks about 40,000 steps inside the palace every day, so he knows a lot about it. “The traditional architecture of the palace is not just bricks. They have deep history and know how to speak to people who understand them,” he said. They are historic wonders with unique Asian aesthetics (美学), he added.

When someone tells me that they're going to spend just 3 days in Paris, I feel like they're most likely not going to love it. I mean, it's possible to have a great time if you do it right and put what you want to see at the first place. During such a short visit most tourists head to see the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Louvre and some other tourist attractions, and therefore experience crowds, long lines and not the real local Paris.
Take your pick and spend some time actually enjoying these things instead of rushing through everything. I'm not telling you not to see these famous landmarks, but in order to fully feel the Paris atmosphere, you need to stay in the city longer. A stay in Paris just for a weekend seems far from seeing all the great things.
Almost everyone is dreaming of getting to the top of the Eiffel Tower. But the moment you start approaching the tower you might realize that it's not very romantic, as it's surrounded by a ton of visitors and annoying vendors (小贩). The place is crowded, and lines take forever no matter when you visit it.
It's hard to find a romantic spot unless you book a dinner on top of the Eiffel Tower. It's something you will only do once, as it's not the best fine dining you've ever had — you're doing it just for the experience. However, if you climb the stairs behind the Croatian Embassy you may be able to find a quiet spot overlooking the tower. The view is wonderful and definitely worth it, especially at night when the tower starts blinking!
I recommend you to see the city from up high from the top of the Tour Montparnasse, Arc de Triomphe, or even a carousel (旋转木马) in Tuileries, and actually have the Eiffel Tower in your view.

Camping is a great way to enjoy nature. You can breathe fresh air, cook over a campfire and sleep under the stars. However, camping also means dealing with bugs, bad weather and few, if any, toilets. 1 But there is a way to enjoy the natural world without giving up the comforts at home. It's called glamping, and interest in it has been growing since 2007.
Glamping, made up of the words glamorous (有魅力的) and camping, is a fairly new word. 2 Since around 600 B.C., Nomadic Mongolians have enjoyed the benefits of glamping. Their tents were very comfortable which inspired the design of modern glamping tents.
3 One of them is that glamping gives you access to some beautiful places. You don't have to give up beauty for comfort. Nowadays, glamping can be less expensive than staying in hotel, but you can still enjoy the modern comforts of a hotel.
Another reason to go glamping is that it's good for the environment. 4 So, there is less waste, and the area stays beautiful.
No matter what kind of experience you're looking for, a glampsite exists for you. From three Camel Lodge in Mongolia to Clayoquot Wilderness Resort in Canada, adventure is waiting for you. Sites can include a spa, a swimming pool and dinner under the stars. Activities can include exploring on horseback or camels and sightings of elephants, mountain sheep or tigers. 5
A.These are all the benefits and problems camping can bring.
B.But it describes an activity people have been doing for ages.
C.You can also help with protecting the environment of the place.
D.These troubles can discourage people from ever trying camping.
E.A wide variety of glamping experiences are available all over the world.
F.There are many reasons why you should consider glamping for your next vacation.
G.Glampsites often use environmentally-friendly materials and avoid using much plastic.

_____________________________________But there is a way to enjoy the natural world without giving up the comforts at home. It's called glamping, and interest in it has been growing since 2007.
These troubles can discourage people from ever trying camping.
根据空前“However, camping also means... if any, toilets.”
根据空前“Glamping, made up of... a fairly new word.”
Glamping, made up of the words glamorous (有魅力的) and camping, is a fairly new word. __________________________________________________
Since around 600 B.C., Nomadic Mongolians have enjoyed the benefits of glamping. Their tents were very comfortable which inspired the design of modern glamping tents.
But it describes an activity people have been doing for ages.
根据下一段的“Another reason to go glamping is that it's good for the environment.”
