Grammar and Vocabulary (20’) Section A(10’) Directions: After reading the passage below, fill in the blanks to make the passage coherent and grammatically correct. For the blanks with a given word, fill in each blank with the proper form of the given word; for the other blanks, use one word that best fits each blank. Science can’t explain the power of pets, but many studies ____21____ (show) that the company of pets can help lower blood pressure and raise chances of recovering from a heart attack, reduce loneliness and spread all-round good cheer. Any owner will tell you ___22____a comfortable life they live with a pet. For some, an animal provides more comfort than a husband/wife. A 2002 study by Karen Allen of the State University of New York ____23____ (measure) stress levels and blood pressure in people — half of them pet owners — while they performed 5 minutes of mental arithmetic (心算) or held a hand in ice water. Subjects (受试对象) completed the tasks alone, with a husband/ wife, a close friend or with a pet. People with pets did it best. Those tested with their animal friends had ____24____(small) change in blood pressure and returned most quickly to baseline heart rates. With pets in the room, people also made fewer maths mistakes than when doing in front of other companions It seems that people feel more relaxed around pets, says Allen, ____25____thinks it may be because pets don’t judge. A study reported last fall suggests that____26____ (have) a pet dog not only raises your spirits but may also have an effect on your eating habits. Researchers at Northwestern Memorial Hospital spent a year ____27____ (study) 36 fat people and their equally fat dogs on diet-and-exercise programmes; a separate group of 56 people ____28____ pets were put on a diet programme as controls (对照组). On average, people lost about 11 pounds, or 5% of their body weight. Their dogs did even better, ____29____ (lose) an average of 12 pounds, more than 15% of their body weight. Researchers say dog owners didn’t lose any more weight than those without dogs, ____30____ they got more exercise overall — mostly with their dogs — and found it worth doing. Section B(10’) Directions: Complete the following passage by using the words in the box. Each word can only be used once. Note that there is one word more than you need. A.imaged   B.lengthened   C. equivalent  D.treated E. indicator  F. mechanism   G. effectiveness   H. remarkably I. postpone   J. ultimately  K. exceed Low-cost diabetes drug slows ageing in male monkeys and is particularly effective at delaying the effects of ageing on the brain, finds a small study that tracked the animals for more than three years. The results raise the possibility that the widely used medication, metformin (二甲双胍), could one day be used to 31 ageing in humans. Metformin has been used for more than 60 years to lower blood-sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes—and is the second most-prescribed medication in the United States. The drug has long been known to have effects beyond treating diabetes, leading researchers to study it against conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and ageing. Data from worms, rodents, flies and people who have taken the drug for diabetes suggest the drug might have anti-ageing effects. But its 32 against ageing had not been tested directly in primates, and it is unclear whether its potential anti-ageing effects are achieved by lowering blood sugar or through a separate 33 . This led Guanghui Liu, a biologist who studies ageing at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, and his colleagues to test the drug on 12 elderly male cynomolgus macaques (食蟹猴); another 16 elderly monkeys and 18 young or middle-aged animals served as a control group. Every day, 34 monkeys received the standard dose of metformin that is used to control diabetes in humans. The animals took the drug for 40 months, 35 to about 13 years for humans. Over the course of the study, Liu and his colleagues took samples from 79 types of the monkeys’ tissues and organs, 36 the animals’ brains and performed routine physical examinations. By analyzing the cellular activity in the samples, the researchers were able to create a computational model to determine the tissues’ “biological age”, which can lag behind or 37 the animals’ age in years since birth. The researchers observed that the drug slowed the biological ageing of many tissues, including from the lung, kidney, liver, skin and the brain’s frontal lobe. They also found that it suppressed chronic inflammation, a key 38 of ageing. The study was not intended to see whether the drug extended the animals’ lifespans; previous research has not established an impact on lifespan but has shown 39 health span— the number of years an organism lives in good health. This means that metformin can“ 40 rewind organ age” in monkeys, Liu says. The authors also identified a potential pathway by which the drug protects the brain; it activates a protein called NRF 2, which safeguards against cellular damage triggered by injury and inflammation. For each of them there are four choices marked A, B, C and D. Choose the one that fits best according to the information given in the passage you have just read. (A) In many countries of the world, people can confidently tell you the meaning of their town or city, but most people who live in Manchester, Oxford or Birmingham would not be able to explain what the name of their city means. The name of every British town and city, however, has a long history. Two thousand years ago, most people living in Britain were Celts. Even the word “Britain” is Celtic. Then the Romans arrived and built camps which became cities called “castra”. This is why there are so many place names in England which end in “-chester” or “-caster”— Manchester, for example. The Romans never reached Wales or Scotland, and many place names there are Celtic. For example, Welsh place names that begin with “Llan” come from the Celtic word for church. After the Romans left Britain, it was attacked by tribes called the Anglo-Saxons, who were from the area of Europe that is now Germany and Holland. Without the Roman army, it was impossible to protect the country from these people. The names of their villages often ended in “-ham” or “-ton”. Some got their name from the leader of the village, so Birmingham, for example, means “Beormund’s village”. The Anglo-Saxons were farmers and the landscape was very important to them, so we have villages called Upton (“village on a hill”— a good place to build a village) and Moreton (“village by lake”, where floods could make life tough). Place names that end in “-ford” (a place where you could cross a river) also describe the location of Anglo-Saxon villages. Twelve hundred years ago, the Vikings came to England from Scandinavia. They traded with the Anglo-Saxons but lived in their own villages. These often ended in “-by” or “-thorpe”. The name “Kirkby” means “a village with a church” and Scunthorpe was the village of a man called Skuma. Finally, in 1066, England became Norman — the Normans gave us the place name “grange”, which means farm. And how about London? Experts cannot agree. The Romans called the city Londinium, but they were not the first inhabitants. People once believed that the United Kingdom’s capital city got its name from the castle of a King called Lud, but this is very unlikely. Our guess today is that the name comes from a Celtic word meaning a fast-flowing river. However, like a number of British place names, its history is lost in time. 56. According to the passage, Stratford-upon-Avon is most likely a town _______. A. on a hill B. near a castle C. built beside a river D. with a church 57. Which of the following shows the correct order of the arrival of inhabitants in Britain? A. The Celts—The Romans—The Vikings—The Normans—The Anglo Saxons. B. The Romans—The Celts—The Vikings—The Anglo Saxons—The Normans. C. The Celts—The Romans—The Anglo Saxons—The Vikings—The Normans. D. The Romans—The Anglo Saxons—The Celts—The Normans—The Vikings. 58. According to the passage, where did the name for London come from? A. It is puzzling and hard to confirm for sure. B. It comes from the term for a fast-flowing river. C. The name is short for Londinium. D. The name is from the castle of a King. (B) For many people, spending time in nature can be a relaxing, enjoyable experience. Immersing (沉浸) oneself in the green field of grass, or the shade of a forested path can be truly calming and health-giving. Recently, researchers from the University of Exeter and the University of Vienna have published a study in Nature Communications that showed not only does being in nature help reduce discomfort, but looking at nature could have a similar effect. The study showed that people who viewed images of nature experienced less discomfort than those who saw images of a city or an indoor office. In addition, examinations of the participants’ brains also showed changes in brain responses associated with dealing with discomfort. This means that seeing nature has an effect on discomfort, just like being in nature does. This is welcome news for people who do not live near green spaces. However, a few months later, the researchers published another study, this time in discomfort, showing that scenes of nature in virtual (虚拟的) reality had more discomfort-killing power than 2D scenes. In order to test how virtual reality affects the sensation of discomfort, the researchers set up an experiment with 29 healthy participants, who were shown two different types of nature scenes, one in virtual reality and the other in 2D, after discomfort was delivered to their forearms via electric shocks. The researchers found that the life-like virtual reality scenes reduced the development and feeling of discomfort in the participants. In fact, the virtual reality was almost two times as effective as the 2D scenes were. There are many effects of these studies, especially concerning how people sense and experience discomfort. However, more importantly, there are also potential practical effects of the studies. Though getting out into nature can be helpful in terms of treating discomfort, there are many people in the world who suffer from long-term discomfort and are unable to go into nature. 59. What did the two universities’ study find about looking at natural scenes? A. It strengthens the sense of discomfort. B. It changes the structure of the brain. C. It makes people feel bored with cities. D. It works like real nature in easing discomfort. 60. Why are the participants’ brains examined? A. To compare the brain structures of different people. B. To improve the brain’s ability to process discomfort. C. To measure the brain’s responses to different images. D. To locate the brain areas responsible for viewing nature. 61. Based on the studies in the passage, what will doctors probably do to help patients with limited movement? A. Provide them with recovery training. B. Bring nature to them. C. Give discomfort killers to them. D. Show them various forms of entertainment. 62. Which of the following is the best title for the passage? A. The Discomfort Management of Modern Technologies B. The Health-giving Power of Real Natural Environments C. The Response Changes of Brains When Dealing with Discomfort D. The Discomfort-reducing Effect of Various Nature-Based Scenes (C) Social media and the Internet are changing the way we eat and cook. First they came for the eggs. Then the feta cheese, caviar, and cucumbers. In some countries, these ingredients even sold out: Iceland experienced a shortage of cucumbers, and feta briefly vanished from grocery-store shelves. The reason for the shortages? Food enthusiasts were eager to recreate viral videos in which these ingredients starred. People who learned to cook in kitchens or through books may scoff at the spread of online-cooking videos. But chefs have long embraced technology to instruct, share their culinary visions and build their careers. In the 1960s-70s Julia Child used television and helped popularize cookbooks, demystifying French food for those cooking at home. Successful online food celebrities “recognize and make a real effort to meet the specific needs of their viewers,” explains Madeline Buxton, culture and trends manager at YouTube. Some viewers want to be entertained; others want to learn, travel or eat vicariously through people more adventurous than they are. Unlike cooking shows on TV, barriers to entry for online-cooking videos are low. Creators who think they have a winning idea do not need to persuade agents, editors and network executives; they can shoot a video themselves on their phone and see if people like it. Established media companies have got in on the act, but the Internet is mostly full of shorter content. Whereas adventurous TikTokers have tried their hand at complex recipes, approachable food tends to perform best: one reason recipes for baked-feta pasta and cucumber salad went viral is that it is easy to melt cheese and slice cucumbers. It also helps to be visually attractive: viral videos tend to show off the texture and crunch of food. Sometimes creators are surprised by which of their videos take off. Mr. DiGiovanni recalls his first popular video, which showed him making a chocolate bar from whole cacao pods; it was “poorly shot: the lighting was messed up; it was overexposed”. But it has attracted almost 14m views. Much as other food creators do, he shows viewers things they would not otherwise see, and he has a good time doing it. This points to an important aspect of online food culture: fun. Julia Child certainly mastered the art of French cooking, and people who followed her recipes may have enjoyed themselves, but she most believed in the haute (高端的) part of haute cuisine. Reverence (崇敬) does poorly in the democratized world of online content, where training, background and even experience matter less than likeability, production value and whether a video makes you want to pick up a pan and start cooking. Now can you please pass the feta? 63.The author cites Julia Child as an example to suggest that ________. A.the current trend of online cooking videos is not an entirely new phenomenon B.the shortages of certain ingredients were a direct result of popular TV shows C.cooking shows on TV have higher barriers for content creators D.television was as important as social media in the spread of culinary culture 64.Which of the following statements might the author most probably agree with? A.A detailed instruction on how to make high-end French cuisine is likely to go viral. B.Ingredients like cucumbers sold out because of the popularization of French food. C.Even respected chefs cannot guarantee that their videos will take off. D.The shorter a food video is, the more likely it is to gain in popularity. 65.What can be inferred from the last sentence of the passage? A.The author highlights how modern cooking has been changed by the Internet. B.The author is drawn to the new culture of cooking on social media. C.The author is convinced that feta, as shown in the videos, can enhance the taste of food. D.The author's own culinary experiences haven't been influenced by online cooking videos. 66.Which of the following serves as the best title for the passage? A.From TV to TikTok: The Rise of Influencers B.A Taste of Trends: Culinary Journey Reshaped Online C.A Recipe for Success: How to Create Viral Cooking Videos D.Pass Me the Feta: Growing Appetite for Food Ingredients Section C(8’) Directions: Read the passage carefully. Fill in each blank with a proper sentence given in the box. Each sentence can be used only once. Note that there are two more sentences than you need. There is one essential rule in writing an essay or article. ____67____ They are two entirely different things, and should be worked on separately. Content is what you want to say. Form is the organization of what you want to say. Let’s say you start writing without much planning. Typically, the things you want to say will swirl (旋绕) around in your head with the structure and the style that you hope to achieve. Working on both is just like trying to rub your stomach and pat your head at the same time. That can be exhausting. Trying to deal with form and content at the same time almost guarantees false starts. ____68____ First, settle on the content and then deal with form. Think about what you want to say. Write this down in a simple or brief sentence or two. Just as skyscrapers can first be designed in a small sketch on a napkin, a perfect essay often start with a short statement, which means always creating at least one draft before producing a final version. This strategy will come in handy for the rest of your assignment. If you’ve got time, carry this statement around with you for some time. Read it over and over. Is this precisely what you intend to say? Don’t move past this step until you can answer “yes”. ____69____ A “point” can be any separate thought, large or small. Again, carry this list around for some time if possible. You want to be satisfied that this list of points is complete. Everything you intend to say is right there on that piece of paper. ____70____ Read back and forth over the list. Try to identify the point you would like to start with and label that A. What would be the next most logical or emotional point? Label that B. Continue until every point has a letter. Now read the points in the new sequence. How does that sound? If it sounds perfect or almost, rearrange all the points in the new sequence, A to whatever… The procedure described so far might add extra time to the beginning of a writing but will often save several hours later on. Be smart. First determine all the points you want to cover. Then determine the best arrangement of those points. A. Decide the main point you want to cover first. B. When you are comfortable with the list, then you focus on the sequence. C. If you have drafted the version, then you need to revise it. D. That is to keep content away from form. E. Now expand the statement into 10 or 20 points that you want to outline. F. However, there is a better way to compose quality work. V. Summary writing (10’) Directions: Read the following passage. Summarize in no more than 60 words the main idea of the passage and how it is illustrated. Use your own words as far as possible. The role of siblings(兄弟姐妹) It’s common knowledge that the family a child grows up in has a huge influence on the child’s attitudes, beliefs and mental health. People usually think that the child’s parents are responsible for this influence, but relationships with brothers and sisters are just as important. Siblings provide children with a unique opportunity to practice interacting with their peers, rather than authority figures. Although friendships can have similar effects, relationships with siblings offer some unique advantages. During childhood, siblings see each other every day and spend more time with each other than with anyone else, sharing experiences that last all their lives. Siblings are also forced to persevere in their relationships with each other even if they have a falling out. This forces children to practice conflict resolution skills since they cannot leave the familial relationship, as they could with a friend. But a sibling relationship also offers a safe place to discuss difficult topics without fear of abandonment. Moreover, older siblings often teach their younger brothers and sisters about life. They can convey useful skills and advice, but they can also set bad examples, leading their younger siblings to do things that are wrong or foolish. Once children grow up, they do not see their siblings as often as before since they usually no longer live together. Maintaining sibling relationships now takes work, and if siblings do not get along, they can avoid each other. But many sibling relationships improve in young adulthood as the siblings mature. Sometimes the distance helps siblings enjoy each other’s company when they do meet. Relationships between siblings vary depending on the ages and personalities of the children involved. Even the best sibling relationships involve some disagreements, but a strong relationship can survive such conflicts. Considering the role of siblings throughout our lives, it’s critical to take the time to cultivate positive relationships with siblings. 71.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ VI. According to the library director, Wang Zhongzheng, the “relaxing and inspiration area” has been set up for many years and is popular among students. He explained that the main purpose of setting up this special zone is to provide students with a place to relax and inspire creativity after studying. Students can just think, have a snack, and enjoy the beautiful city landscape outside. Currently, the library has six “relaxing and inspiration areas” next to the study and reading area, making them a good combination. The area is equipped with outdoor tables, chairs, plants, and other facilities. The library is also planning to upgrade the zone by integrating elements of tradition and modernity to better meet the needs of young students. Wang believes that the popularity of the “relaxing and inspiration area” demonstrates a positive and simple way for young people to deal with stress. He also recommends that more schools and workplaces set up such an area to meet the needs of people who seek a peaceful and inspiring environment. (Now listen again, please.) Questions: 14. 31.I 32.G 33.F 34.D 35.C 36.A 37.K 38.E 39.B 40.H 【导语】这是一篇说明文。 分析句子可知,be used to do sth. 故选I项。 32. 故选A项。 37. III. Each passage is followed by several questions or unfinished statements. C 57. C 58. 根据文章第五段“Place names that end in “-ford” (a place where you could cross a river) also describe the location of Anglo-Saxon villages.(以“ford”结尾的地名(你可以过河的地方)也描述了盎格鲁-撒克逊村庄的位置)”可知,以ford结尾的地名和河流相关。 根据文章第二段“Two thousand years ago, most people living in Britain were Celts. Even the word “Britain” is Celtic. Then the Romans arrived and built camps which became cities called “castra”. (两千年前,大多数居住在英国的人都是凯尔特人。甚至“不列颠”这个词也是凯尔特语。后来,罗马人来到这里,建造了营地,这些营地后来成为了被称为“卡斯特拉”的城市)”可知,最先住在英国的人是凯尔特人,然后是罗马人;再根据文章第四段“After the Romans left Britain, it was attacked by tribes called the Anglo-Saxons, who were from the area of Europe that is now Germany and Holland.(罗马人离开不列颠后,它遭到了盎格鲁-撒克逊部落的袭击,这些部落来自现在的欧洲地区,即德国和荷兰)”可知,罗马人之后是盎格鲁撒克逊人;根据文章第六段“Twelve hundred years ago, the Vikings came to England from Scandinavia.(1200年前,维京人从斯堪的纳维亚来到英格兰)”可知,盎格鲁撒克逊人之后是维京人;最后根据文章第七段“Finally, in 1066, England became Norman—the Normans gave us the place name “grange”, which means farm.(最后,在1066年,英格兰变成了诺曼,诺曼人给我们起了一个地名“grange”,意思是农场)”可知,最后到的是诺曼人。 根据文章最后一段“And how about London? Experts cannot agree. The Romans called the city Londinium, but they were not the first inhabitants. People once believed that the United Kingdom’s capital city got its name from the castle of a King called Lud, but this is very unlikely. Our guess today is that the name comes from a Celtic word meaning a fast-flowing river. However, like a number of British place names, its history is lost in time.(伦敦怎么样?专家们对此并不认同。罗马人称这座城市为Londinium,但他们并不是第一批居民。人们曾经认为,英国首都的名字来自一个名叫路德的国王的城堡,但这是非常不可能的。我们今天猜测这个名字来自凯尔特语,意思是湍急的河流。然而,就像许多英国地名一样,它的历史在时间中消失了)”可推知,伦敦这一名字的由来很难定论。故选A。 (B) For many people, spending time in nature can be a relaxing, enjoyable experience. The Discomfort-reducing Effect of Various Nature-Based Scenes 【答案】59. D 60. C 61. B 62. 根据第二段中“Recently, researchers from the University of Exeter and the University of Vienna have published a study in Nature Communications that showed not only does being in nature help reduce discomfort, but looking at nature could have a similar effect.(最近,埃克塞特大学和维也纳大学的研究人员在《自然通讯》上发表了一项研究,该研究表明,不仅身处大自然有助于减轻不适,观赏大自然也有类似的效果)”可知,观赏自然场景就像真实的大自然一样能缓解不适。 根据第三段中“In addition, examinations of the participants’ brains also showed changes in brain responses associated with dealing with discomfort.(此外,对参与者大脑的检查还显示,与处理不适相关的大脑反应发生了变化)”可知,检查参与者的大脑是为了测量大脑对不同图像的反应。 根据最后一段中“Though getting out into nature can be helpful in terms of treating discomfort, there are many people in the world who suffer from long-term discomfort and are unable to go into nature.(虽然走进大自然有助于治疗不适,但世界上有许多人长期遭受不适,无法走进大自然)”以及前文提到的虚拟自然场景对缓解不适的作用可推知,医生可能会把大自然带到行动受限的病人身边来帮助他们。 D。 (C) Social media and the Internet are changing the way we eat and cook. A.From TV to TikTok: The Rise of Influencers B.A Taste of Trends: Culinary Journey Reshaped Online C.A Recipe for Success: How to Create Viral Cooking Videos D.Pass Me the Feta: Growing Appetite for Food Ingredients 【答案】63.A 64.C 65.B 66.B 【导语】这是一篇说明文。 根据第二段“People who learned to cook in kitchens or through books may scoff at the spread of online - cooking videos. But chefs have long embraced technology to instruct, share their culinary visions and build their careers. In the 1960s - 70s Julia Child used television and helped popularize cookbooks, demystifying French food for those cooking at home.(那些在厨房或通过书本学习烹饪的人可能会嘲笑在线烹饪视频的传播。但厨师们长期以来一直接受利用技术来指导、分享他们的烹饪理念并成就他们的事业。在 20 世纪 60-70 年代,朱莉娅・查尔德利用电视并帮助推广烹饪书籍,为在家烹饪的人揭开法国美食的神秘面纱。)”可知,作者以朱莉娅・查尔德为例,是为了表明厨师们很早就利用技术来传播烹饪理念,现在在线烹饪视频的流行并非全新现象,故选A项。 64.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“Sometimes creators are surprised by which of their videos take off. Mr. DiGiovanni recalls his first popular video, which showed him making a chocolate bar from whole cacao pods; it was ‘poorly shot: the lighting was messed up; it was overexposed’. But it has attracted almost 14m views.(有时创作者会对自己哪些视频会走红感到惊讶。迪乔瓦尼先生回忆起他第一个受欢迎的视频,视频中他用整个可可豆荚制作巧克力棒;这个视频‘拍摄得很差:灯光混乱;曝光过度’。但它已经吸引了近 1400 万浏览量。)” 可知,即使是创作者自己都难以预料哪个视频会走红,所以即使是受尊敬的厨师也不能保证他们的视频一定会成功。故选C项。 65.推理判断题。由文章最后一句“Now can you please pass the feta?(现在你能递给我羊乳酪吗?)” 通读全文,尤其是第一段“Social media and the Internet are changing the way we eat and cook. (社交媒体和互联网正在改变我们的饮食和烹饪方式)”可知,文章主要讲述了社交媒体和互联网改变了人们烹饪和饮食的方式,介绍了网络烹饪视频的兴起、特点以及其对烹饪文化的影响,所以B选项A Taste of Trends: Culinary Journey Reshaped Online(品味潮流:在线重塑的烹饪之旅) 准确概括了文章主旨。故选B项。 Section C(8’) Directions: Read the passage carefully. D 68. F 69. E 70. 【67题详解】 前文“There is one essential rule in writing an essay or article.(写论文或文章时有一个至关重要的规则)”点明写文章时的一个重要的原则,结合下文提到的content(内容)及form(形式)可知,空处应表示原则的内容。 【68题详解】 前文“Trying to deal with form and content at the same time almost guarantees false starts.(试图同时处理形式与内容,往往会导致一开始就出错)”提到形式和内容一起处理会出错,下文中“First, settle on the content and then deal with form.(首先确定内容,然后再考虑形式)”说明具体策略和方法,F选项“然而,有一种更好的方式可以创作出高质量的作品。” 【69题详解】 根据上文“Write this down in a simple or brief sentence or two.(用一个简单的或简短的句子把它写下来)”提到首先简短概括内容,前文“Don’t move past this step until you can answer “yes”.(在能够回答“是”之前,请不要跳过这一步。)”表明第一步完成之后应该进行下一步,结合后文“A “point” can be any separate thought, large or small.(“要点”可以是任何独立的思考内容,无论其规模大小)”提到了“要点”。 【70题详解】 根据下文“Read back and forth over the list. Try to identify the point you would like to start with and label that A. What would be the next most logical or emotional point? Label that B. Continue until every point has a letter. Now read the points in the new sequence.(反复浏览这份清单。试着确定你想要从哪一点开始,并将其标记为A。接下来最合乎逻辑或最能触动情感的点是什么?将其标记为B。如此类推,直到每一个点都有一个字母标记。现在按照新的顺序读出这些点)”可知,空处总结下文,描述下一步,与标记和排序有关,B选项“当你对这份清单已经熟悉之后,就接着关注其排列顺序了。”符合主旨。故选B。 V. 71.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 71.Growing up with siblings promotes the ability to get along with peers. Siblings shape each other. In childhood, they share life under the same safe roof, acquiring conflict-handling skills together, with older siblings often guiding. Adult siblings meet less, but relationships often improve. Sibling relationships are diverse, and it's important to develop a positive one.
