2.Show students a picture of Antarctica and ask:What place is this?
3. Introduce some background information to students:There are 18 kinds of penguins on
earth, Seven of them live in Antarctica.

1. Play the audio. Have students listen to the conversation and circle the coloured words
they hear.
2.Check the answers by asking students to read the conversation together.
3. Ask students what adjectives are used to describe the penguins,and then compare the

Teaching Reflection
This lesson successfully achieved its learning objectives,as students learned to introduce animals,
practised pronouncing unstressed words, and understood why feeding animals is inappropriate.
Their participation in listening tasks and pair work was also active. However, more time should have been given to the 2e activity where students shared their favourite animals,since some had difficulty expressing details smoothly. Notably,the “Further Thinking”section stood out, effectively raising students' awareness of animal protection.
