2. Have students think about the question:Do you know other special animals in China?
3. The teacher can give students some prompts such as golden snub-nosed monkeys and

Let students read the listening script and answer the questions:
· How do the students describe these animals?What adjectives do they use?

1. Show the animals in la to students and ask:Among all these animals ,which one do you like
or dislike? Why? Then, summarize some sentences that are used to express preferences.
e. g. I like... because they are really clever and funny. /I don't like ... because I think
they're too dangerous.
2. Have students work in pairs to talk about the animals they like or dislike.
3. Invite some pairs to perform their conversations in front of the class.

Exercise 1
1. Have students read the words in each column and pay attention to the pronunciation of
the letters or letter combinations in bold.
2. Ask students to listen and repeat after the recording. Then explain the key points of
pronouncing these sounds.
Teaching Tip:Use videos or mouth movement diagrams to demonstrate the pronunciation
of these key sounds if needed.
3.Encourage some students to read these sounds and words in class so that the teacher
can find some possible problems or mistakes. The teacher gives correct demonstrations
and makes them practise the pronunciation more.
4.Brainstorm more words to add to each group.

1. Have students listen and repeat the words and notice the pronunciation of -(e)s.
2. Explain the pronunciation rules for the suffixes -s and -es at the end of words to students.

Teaching Reflection
In today's lesson, students actively participated in guessing riddles and discussing pandas during the lead-in, which effectively aroused their interest. Most students mastered describing animals with adjectives and expressing preferences,but a few struggled with the pronunciation exercises. Next class,I will design more targeted pronunciation drills to help them improve.
