W: Wow I wonder if the park keepers will let it stay there.
M: Who knows? But it’s clever how the tree and the squirrel work together without even knowing it.
W: Yeah! A perfect example of “teamwork making the dream work”.
M: Exactly. The tree feeds the squirrel and the squirrel carries the baby trees away from their parents, so they’re not competing for light and water.
W: It’s rather inspiring. No matter how small, we all have important parts to play.

M: Yeah!
W: It’s nice to have “someone” to talk about my interests with. Whenever I start telling my brother about books I like, he acts like he’s falling asleep!
M: Ha-ha! Yeah, that’s my favorite thing about it. It’ll talk happily with me about video games for hours!
W: The thing is that it just seemed to agree with me all the time.
M: Isn’t that good? No arguments!
W: No... It’s so boring! A good conversation challenges you and shows you new ways of thinking about things. Anyway, I got rid of it when it started asking me all these personal questions.
M: You deleted it?
W: Yes! Why does it need to know my friends’ names?
M: Well, humans ask questions like that.
W: But it’s not human. It’s a robot, owned by a company. And no matter how “nice” these chatbots are, we mustn’t forget about online safety.

17. Who is the speaker?
A. A lawyer. B. A banker. C. A rock singer.
18. What is the speaker wearing?
A. A suit. B. A T-shirt. C. A jacket.

B. The importance of first impressions.
C. The way to find job opportunities.
【答案】17. A 18. B 19. A 20. B
【解析】
【原文】Good morning, everyone. Oh, sorry... Were you expecting someone in a jacket and tie to give today’s career speech? I suppose I don’t look much like a professional lawyer dressed like this. But, doesn’t what I say matter more than how I look? Well, yes or no...
If I were here to make friends, this would be perfect. Relaxed, friendly... and this band T-shirt always helps me find the other rock music fans in the room! But would you give me a job in a law office? Probably not!
Humans form judgments about new people within seconds. So, it’s important to consider the impression you want to put across, particularly in professional relationships. Employers want people who understand their business culture. So, find out what matters to them and dress to fit in. A design company might value originality. A bank? Probably not. Either way, your appearance should say, “I respect this opportunity, and I’ve come prepared.” First impressions may not tell the whole story, but they often decide whether people want to hear it.

Khaby Lame, a Senegalese-Italian social media star known as the “Silent Comedy King,” has won the hearts of millions. He became famous worldwide for his wordless, humorous reactions to complicated online life skill videos, gaining over 160 million followers. In China, fans affectionately call him “wuyu ge” or “speechless brother”, a nickname that perfectly matches his typical puzzled face and simple hand gestures.
Chinese audiences deeply connect with his iconic style — a calm face paired with a simple open-palm gesture that seems to ask, “Why make things so complicated?” This straightforward, visual humor matches perfectly with trends in Chinese online culture.
Last September, Lame visited several Chinese cities. He tried local street food, explored historical sites, and happily interacted with his fans. He later posted online that the experience was thrilling and lived up to all his expectations.
Lame’s successful tour was organized by a Shanghai media company. Their goal was to show him both China’s modern city life and traditional culture, hoping to spark new creative ideas. This visit is a good example of how cultural exchange works today. Before Lame, the same company helped German fitness creator Pamela Reif expand her presence in China. Such visits by foreign influencers offer international audiences fresh, authentic views of daily life in China. Their content, especially livestreams and short videos, helps break outdated stereotypes and build a sense of closeness.
Furthermore, practical advancements have made such exchanges smoother. China’s extended visa-free transit policies and the widespread use of real-time comment translation on video platforms allow for more direct and meaningful interaction. These developments are making online cultural exchange more personal, open, and impactful than ever before.
24. Why is Khaby Lame called “wuyu ge” by Chinese fans?
A. Because he cannot speak Chinese.
B. Because he never talks in his videos.
C. Because his humor is too difficult to understand.
D. Because his facial expression and gestures fit it perfectly.
25. The underlined word “iconic” in paragraph 2 probably means ______.
A. typical B. complex C. ordinary D. simple
26. Which of the following is TRUE about foreign influencers’ visits to China?
A. They help promote Chinese products abroad.
B. They encourage more tourism to historical sites.
C. They provide fresh perspectives and reduce stereotypes.
D. They increase competition among local content creators.
27. What helps to improve cultural exchange according to the last paragraph?
A. Increased international travel. B. A shared common language.
C. A decrease in digital communication. D. Supportive policies and technology.
【答案】24. D 25. A 26. C 27. D

词句猜测题。根据划线词下文“a calm face paired with a simple open-palm gesture that seems to ask, “Why make things so complicated?”(那张平静的面容搭配着一个简单的张开手掌的动作,仿佛在质问:“为何事情要变得如此复杂?”)”可知,Khaby Lame的沉默喜剧风格是其核心特征,且前文提到“typical puzzled face”,后文描述其风格在中国网络上广受欢迎,故划线词“iconic”应与“typical”(典型的)含义最接近。故选A。
【26题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“Such visits by foreign influencers offer international audiences fresh, authentic views of daily life in China. Their content, especially livestreams and short videos, helps break outdated stereotypes and build a sense of closeness.(外国网红的此类访问为国际观众提供了有关中国日常生活的新颖、真实视角。他们的内容,尤其是直播和短视频,有助于打破陈旧的刻板印象,并营造出一种亲近感)”可知,C选项“他们带来了全新的视角,并减少了刻板印象”正确。故选C。
【27题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段“Furthermore, practical advancements have made such exchanges smoother. Have you ever noticed that the stars sometimes appear brighter in December, January and February? There’s a link between cold air and the night lights. “Part of it is that it tends to be drier in the winter,” said Diane Tumshek, an astronomer at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Even though it’s invisible, moisture can change the way light moves through the air. And in the summer, moisture can make stars appear more dull.
Air temperature is also what puts the twinkling light in the little stars. “Even on very clear nights, some of the atmosphere is cooler, and some of the atmosphere is warmer,” said Tumshek, who also works with the Allegheny Observatory. And when the light from a star passes through those bubbles of varying temperatures, “it bends and shifts the light, so that we are seeing stars appear to dance or twinkle,” she said.
For star lovers in the United States, there’s another factor that comes into play for bright winter stars, although this is a matter of coincidence. During Earth’s journey around the sun, “there are just simply more bright stars visible from the Northern Hemisphere in the winter sky,” Tumshek said. If you really want to see a shiny star, just try to find a burning ball of gas called Sirius near the horizon. At 8.6 light-years away, Sirius is relatively close to Earth and the brightest star visible in the night sky. It is also large — nearly twice as big as our sun and 20 times as bright. So this winter, when the world turns cold and it seems like we should be spending more time indoors, consider asking an adult to go exploring outside. With a warm coat and a clear sky, any night can be turned into a treasure hunt. All you have to do is look up.
28. According to Diane Tumshek, one reason why stars appear brighter in winter is that ______.
A. the air is colder than in summer
B. stars release more light in cold weather
C. the winter sky has more stars overall
D. the air tends to be drier in winter
29. How does air temperature affect the brightness of stars?
A. By creating the bubbles around them.
B. By increasing the air moisture around them.
C By changing the direction of the light from them.
D. By shortening the distance between stars and Earth.
30. Which of the following is a fact about Sirius mentioned in the passage?
A. It is the largest star in the universe.
B. It is 20 times as bright as the sun.
C. It is three times bigger than the sun.
D. It is only visible in the Northern Hemisphere.
31. What is the author’s attitude toward star-watching in winter?
A. Approving. B. Unclear. C. Indifferent. D. Critical.
【答案】28. D 29. C 30. B 31. A
【解析】

【29题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段中“And when the light from a star passes through those bubbles of varying temperatures, it bends and shifts the light, so that we are seeing stars appear to dance or twinkle.(当来自恒星的光穿过这些温度不同的气泡时,它会弯曲和偏移光线,所以我们看到星星好像在跳舞或闪烁。)”可知,空气温度通过改变来自星星的光的方向来影响星星的亮度。故选C。
【30题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“It is also large — nearly twice as big as our sun and 20 times as bright.(它也很大,几乎是太阳的两倍大,亮度是太阳的20倍。)”可知,天狼星亮度是太阳的20倍。故选B。
【31题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中“So this winter, when the world turns cold and it seems like we should be spending more time indoors, consider asking an adult to go exploring outside. With a warm coat and a clear sky, any night can be turned into a treasure hunt. All you have to do is look up.(所以今年冬天,当世界变冷,似乎我们应该花更多时间待在室内时,考虑请一个成年人去外面探险。有了暖和的外套和晴朗的天空,任何夜晚都可以变成寻宝游戏。你所要做的就是抬头看。)”可知,作者认为冬季观星是一件很有趣的事情,鼓励读者在冬天去观星,这表明作者对冬季观星的态度是赞成的。故选A。

A highly dangerous venomous (有毒的) snake, the Island Bamboo Pitt Viper, is being sold widely on Chinese e-commerce platforms. The sudden increase in sales is because the snake looks like a new character in the popular cartoon movie Zootopia 2. Sellers even call it “Gary’s same-style little blue snake” to attract buyers. The surge in sales of the Island Bamboo Pitt Viper has raised serious public safety risks as well as the potential legal impact on platforms, vendors, and buyers.
The problem was discovered when a man surnamed Wang found the snake being sold on the secondhand platform Xianyu. Prices ranged from 300 to 3,000 yuan ($42.5 to $425). Recognizing the species as highly venomous, Wang attempted to report the listings to Xianyu, arguing that live dangerous animals should not be sold on general consumer platforms. The platform rejected his report for “insufficient evidence.”
On platforms including Douyin and Xiaohongshu, sellers are using encoded hashtags (话题标签) such as “Guard a piece of blue,” and “Island Blue Bamboo,” along with suggestive videos, to escape content review (审核) and attract buyers seeking the Zootopia 2-inspired animals. Sellers offer free self-pickup equipment and encourage inquiries before purchase.
This non-native snake is not on China’s key protected wildlife list, but national rules prohibit eating it and require strict official approval for non-food purposes. Online sales clearly break this rule.
Legal experts warn that selling and mailing this snake is against postal rules, which ban sending live animals and poisonous things. Platforms, sellers and delivery companies may all face legal risks. If platforms fail to check sellers carefully, they may have to take legal responsibility. Sellers who ignore safety rules may be fined or even face criminal punishment. If the snake runs away and hurts someone, the owner may also be in trouble. Experts ask people not to be attracted by the movie character, as keeping such a venomous snake is very dangerous for public safety.
32. Why did Xianyu refuse Wang’s report at first?
A. The platform had no such rule.
B. Evidence was considered not enough.
C. Wang failed to explain the dangers.
D. The snake is not a protected animal.
33. How do sellers attract buyers while escaping content review?
A. By lowering prices sharply.
B. By offering free handling tools.
C. By stating it’s legally permitted.
D. By using hidden hashtags and videos.
34. Which statement best reflects the experts’ warning?
A. Beginners can keep the snake with training.
B. Only sellers face legal punishment.
C. Online sales of such animals bring legal risks.
D. buyers are held fully responsible for harm caused.
35. Which would be the best title for the passage?
A. A Movie Inspires New Pet Trend
B. Zootopia 2’s Snake: Online Sales Raise Alarm
C. Experts Warn Against Dangerous Pets
D. Platforms Face Challenges in Monitoring Sales
【答案】32. B 33. D 34. C 35. B

根据上文“Many of our behaviors come from what once helped our ancestors survive.(我们的很多行为都源于曾经帮助祖先生存的方式。)”和下文“This could mean the difference between living well and going hungry.(这可能意味着温饱与挨饿的区别。)”可知,上文提出“行为源于祖先的生存需求”,下文用“this”指代具体的生存行为,因此空格处需要举一个祖先为了生存而做的具体行为例子。选项E“For instance, they stored extra tools or food for future shortages.(比如,他们会储备多余的工具和食物,以应对未来的物资匮乏。)”符合语境。故选E。
【37题详解】
根据上文“The uncertainty of what you will get is just like the unpredictability of life in ancient times.(盲盒的未知性如同古代生活的不可预测性。)”和下文“This cycle generates dopamine (多巴胺) pathways in the brain, making us desire the next purchase even if we already have enough.(这个循环在大脑中产生多巴胺通路,让我们即便已有足够的盲盒,仍渴望买下一个。)”可知,下文出现核心关键词 cycle(循环),且用“this cycle”指代前文内容,说明空格处必须首次提出“盲盒未知性会形成循环”这一概念,同时解释该循环的本质。G选项“That means it creates a cycle of wanting, which can be hard to break. (这意味着它会催生一种难以摆脱的渴望循环。)”符合语境。故选G。
【38题详解】
空处为段落小标题。根据下文“When collecting is driven by joy and social connection, it can be a positive activity. Many collectors share their finds online, trade copies, and create fan art. These interactions can build community and enrich the experience.(当收藏行为由愉悦感和社交联结驱动时,它便能成为一种积极的活动。许多收藏者会在网上分享自己的收获、交换重复的款式,还会创作相关粉丝作品。这些互动能构建社群归属感,也让收藏的体验变得更加丰富。)”可知,本段出现的关键词有:social connection(社交联结)、share(分享)、interactions(互动)、build community(建立社群),均围绕“收藏的社交属性”展开。选项 B选项“Collecting as a Social Connection.(作为社交联结的收藏。)”直接概括段落核心。故选B。
【39题详解】
根据上文“It shifts from personal enjoyment to social competition or profit-seeking.(收藏从个人享受转变为社交竞争或追求利益。)”可知,上文说明收藏的本质发生了负面转变——脱离了“快乐”的初衷,转向功利化,因此空格处需要承接这一负面转变,说明其结果。D选项“That’s why collecting becomes no longer enjoyable.(这也是收藏不再能带来愉悦的原因。)”符合语境。故选D。
【40题详解】
根据上文“Over-marketing and social media increase our natural collecting drive.(过度营销和社交媒体放大了我们天生的收藏欲望。)”和下文“Ask yourself: Does collecting truly bring me joy?(问问自己:收藏是否真的能给我带来快乐?)”可知,上文提出问题 —— 外部因素让收藏欲望被过度放大(易走向不健康),下文给出自我反思的具体方法,因此空格处需要承上启下,提出“避免收藏变不健康”的核心原则,连接问题和解决方法。选项F“To prevent this, we must remember the real purpose of collecting.( 要避免这种情况,我们必须牢记收藏的真正初衷。)”符合语境。故选F。

Dear William,
Learning that you are interested in the tech exhibition held in our school recently, I’m writing to share it with you.
The exhibition, which was held in our school hall last week from Tuesday to Friday, featured a variety of smart inventions, such as student-made robots and 3D-printed models and even a tiny drone show. Furthermore, some students even demonstrated their creative projects on the spot. What impressed me most was that our school invited an expert to give a lecture on the development of Chinese technology.
It was such an eye-opening experience! I was amazed by our schoolmates’ creativity and realized how important tech is for our future. I wish you could have been here too!
Yours,
Li Hua

第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Outside, snow fell quietly, dusting the windows of the Toronto high school cafeteria. Inside, the air was warm and filled with the rich smell of fries, hot chocolate, and freshly baked bread.
Chen Hao, a Chinese exchange student who had been here for three months, sat alone at a corner table, slowly lifting the lid (盖子) of his lunchbox. Inside, besides the rice, were two portions of his homemade braised pork and a small dish of stir-fried tomatoes and eggs — he had woken up an hour earlier that morning to cook them, hoping to share the taste of his hometown with his classmates. But as he looked around, he noticed several classmates glancing at his food with strange, even confused looks.
“Why is it so dark? It looks... unusual,” said Tony, a Canadian classmate sitting next to him, frowning slightly as he leaned over. Chen Hao’s face turned hot with embarrassment. “It’s braised pork, a classic Chinese home-cooked dish,” he explained softly, but Tony just shook his head and turned back to his hamburger and fries, seemingly uninterested. Just then, Mia, the class monitor, walked over with a plate of golden-brown chocolate chip cookies. “Chen Hao, you should try these — they’re my mom’s homemade dish. Your food looks a bit too ‘heavy’ for lunch,” she said, pushing the plate toward him with a well-meaning smile, though her words made his heart feel even heavier.
Chen Hao forced a smile and took a cookie, but he could barely taste its sweetness. He had put so much effort into making the braised pork to share, but instead, it had become a source of awkwardness. That afternoon, during the school’s “Cultural Sharing Week” activity, he stood nervously in front of his simple display table with only a bowl of braised pork, hesitating to introduce it — he was still afraid of being laughed at again.
注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Slowly, Chen Hao lifted the lid of the bowl, exposing the braised pork.

Chen Hao held his breath, waiting for everyone’s reaction.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】参考范文
Slowly, Chen Hao lifted the lid of the bowl, exposing the braised pork. The rich, sweet aroma spread slowly across the room, drawing a few more curious glances from the passing students. His fingers slightly trembling, he began to speak, his voice soft but clear: “This is braised pork, a dish passed down in my family for generations. We cook it slowly over low heat with soy sauce, sugar and spices, which gives it the dark color and makes the meat melt in your mouth.” He paused, glancing at the crowd, worried his words would be met with indifference.
Chen Hao held his breath, waiting for everyone’s reaction. At first, the crowd stayed quiet, but Maya, a girl from India, stepped forward slowly. She picked up a small piece of braised pork and took a careful bite. In seconds, her eyes lit up, and she exclaimed: “It’s incredible! So tender and flavorful!” Her excitement broke the silence. Soon, more students gathered around the table, asking about the recipe and how long it took to cook. Tony and Mia also came over, looking embarrassed. “We’re sorry for judging your food by its appearance,” Mia said. Chen Hao smiled, proud to share his hometown’s taste and traditions.

24 Why is Khaby Lame called “wuyu ge” by Chinese fans?

C. By changing the direction of the light from them.
D. Critical.

注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Slowly, Chen Hao lifted the lid of the bowl, exposing the braised pork.
