Unit 8
1.能正确使用本单元“侦探与案件”相关核心词汇(如detective、crime、clue、suspect、victim、murder、mystery、witness、guilty、arrest、evidence等)及短语(look for clues、solve the case、break into、bleed to death、take place、lead to、have nothing to do with等);
2.能熟练运用限定性定语从句(who/which/that引导)描述人物与物品,用一般过去时叙述案件经过,用情态动词(might/could/must)表达推测;
1.体裁:叙事类侦探故事,兼具悬疑性与逻辑性;
2.人称:第三人称(以侦探或旁观者视角叙述);
○ 内容:覆盖“1个具体案件(如物品失窃、神秘事件)、2-3条关键线索、1-2个嫌疑人、1个合理破案推理”4个要点;
1.开头:快速交代案件背景(时间、地点、案件类型,参考课本“West Town谋杀案”案例),引出受害者与核心悬念(如物品失窃的奇怪细节、事件的不合理之处),吸引读者兴趣;
2.中间:按时间顺序描述线索收集过程(如现场遗留物品、目击者证词),用限定性定语从句介绍嫌疑人及相关线索,通过情态动词表达侦探的初步推测,设置情节转折(如嫌疑人的不在场证明、线索指向反转);
基础句式:Last ________ (时间), a strange crime took place in ________ (地点). ________ (受害者) found that ________ (案件核心,如his valuable schoolbag was missing/ the classroom window was broken but nothing was stolen). The incident happened when ________ (案件发生的场景背景). Everyone was confused, and the school asked Detective Li to solve the case.
示例:Last Friday afternoon, a strange crime took place in our school’s reading room. Li Ming, a Grade 9 student, found that his limited-edition storybook was missing. The incident happened when he left the room for only five minutes to get water. Everyone was confused because the door was locked and no one saw strangers enter. The school asked Detective Li to solve the case.
Detective Li first checked the scene carefully. He found ________ (线索1,如a piece of red thread on the chair/ a half-eaten cookie on the desk) which ________ (线索关联). He then interviewed the people who ________ (相关人员,如were in the reading room at that time). There were two suspects: ________ (嫌疑人1) and ________ (嫌疑人2). ________ (嫌疑人1) said he was ________ (不在场证明), but Detective Li noticed that ________ (疑点). ________ (线索2,如A witness reported seeing someone with a red schoolbag near the reading room), which made ________ (嫌疑人2) become the key focus.
示例:Detective Li first checked the scene carefully. He found a piece of red thread on the chair which matched the strap of Lucy’s schoolbag. He then interviewed the people who were in the reading room at that time. There were two suspects: Lucy and Tom. Tom said he was in the playground playing basketball, and his classmates confirmed it. But Detective Li noticed that Lucy’s fingers had a small cut, and she seemed nervous when talking about the book. A witness also reported seeing someone with a red schoolbag hurrying out of the reading room, which made Lucy become the key focus.
Detective Li connected all the clues. The red thread that ________ (线索1推理) and the witness’s description proved that Lucy was the one who ________ (案件真相). When faced with the evidence, Lucy admitted that ________ (作案动机,如she loved the book so much but couldn’t buy it/ she wanted to borrow it but was afraid to ask). Finally, she returned the book and apologized. The case taught us that ________ (感悟,如details are the key to solving mysteries/ honesty is the best choice).
示例:Detective Li connected all the clues. The red thread that was left on the chair and the witness’s description proved that Lucy was the one who took the book. When faced with the evidence, Lucy admitted that she had always wanted that storybook but her parents refused to buy it. She didn’t dare to ask Li Ming to borrow it, so she took it when no one was looking. Finally, she returned the book and apologized sincerely. The case taught us that no matter how small the mistake is, honesty is always better than hiding, and details can always reveal the truth.

The Missing School Medal
Last Wednesday morning, a precious school medal went missing from the teacher’s office. The medal, which was for the school’s top student award, was left on the desk by Mr Wang. It disappeared during the 20-minute morning break, and the office door was only slightly open. Everyone was shocked, so our headmaster invited Detective Zhang to investigate.
Detective Zhang arrived quickly and checked the scene. He found a smudge of blue ink on the desk which didn’t belong to Mr Wang. He then asked the students who passed the office during the break. Two students were suspected: Lily and Mike. Lily was the class monitor who often helped Mr Wang with office work, and Mike loved collecting medals. Lily said she was in the classroom preparing for the lesson, while Mike claimed he was in the library. But Detective Zhang noticed that Mike’s fingers had blue ink on them, and the ink matched the smudge on the desk.
Detective Zhang put forward his reasoning: the blue ink that linked Mike to the scene, plus his love for medals, made him the thief. After being questioned, Mike admitted that he had peeked into the office and couldn’t resist taking the medal. He hoped to keep it as a souvenir. Finally, he returned the medal and promised never to do it again. This case showed that even small clues can lead to the truth, and curiosity should never make us break the rules.
