For me,being a teacher is not only about introducing students to mathematical facts and
techniques, but is also about helping students grow both academically and personally, explore
their interests, and develop their talents. To do this,I have to go beyond the conventional
definition of a woman teacher as someone who simply demonstrates academic content and
evaluates students'progress.
Over my career as a teacher,I've learned to listen to suggestions and questions from
students in order to improve my own teaching practice.I revised my lecture notes based on a
student's suggestion from years ago.It was during a visit to a school that a Grade 3 student
asked me what the world would look like without mathematics.Ever since, whenever I give a
talk about the importance of mathematics, this has been the question I always ask the
audience.
My class is just one piece in the possibly complex mosaic(镶嵌图案)of my students
lives.Other academic and non-academic interests,family dynamics,health conditions,
economic backgrounds, and social status all play a crucial part as well.Recognizing this,I
always accept my students as individuals, each with their own distinct learning styles,
educational histories, and working habits. This acceptance drives me to actively discover their
stories.By listening to them with empathy and patience, whether during open-office hours or
even brief chats on public transport,I learn how to enhance my teaching methods and approaches to
suit their generation.
As educators,we have the privilege of connecting with young people and contributing to
the quality of their present and future lives.I aim to find a balance between respecting my
students'personalities, entrusting them with the responsibility to take on the necessary work
themselves, and doing all I can to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.

When a heat wave struck Illinois in June 2022,crop physiologist Meacham-Hensold
hoped her team's new bioengineered potato variety would survive it-but she was astounded
by just how well it grew. The plant produced an unexpected 30%more of its large red tubers
than a normal, unengineered plant in the same conditions.
To engineer the potato,Meacham-Hensold and her colleagues focused on a process in
most plants called photorespiration(光呼吸),in which a key photosynthesis enzyme(光合作
known as RuBisCO gets sidetracked and begins making a poisonous by-product.
RuBisCO molecules (need to bind to carbon dioxide (CO2)to carry out photosynthesis,
but about a quarter of the time they grab oxygen instead-and this erroneous process happens
more often at high temperatures. This inefficiency can decrease crop yields by as much as
50%.
In the new engineered potatoes,a gene inserted into the plant cell's nucleus produced a
protein that traveled into the chloroplast ()the cell organelle used in photosynthesis.
There it broke down the poisonous by-product,so the chloroplast didn't need to send it out to
other organelles. This saved energy, similar to how eating local food saves the energy of
trucking it across the country.
During the engineered potatoes'2022 growing season in the Illinois test field,an extreme
heat wave brought four days with temperatures higher than 95F.But the new potato's genetic
change-which can be passed on to the next generation-boosted yield by almost a third."We
were really shocked,"Meacham-Hensold says."The photosynthesis process is a promising
target for agricultural engineering, because it can increase crop yield without the need for
extra land use and fertilizer, she adds. She thinks the new technique could help crops adapt to
climate change.Similar strategies have been used previously in rice, but this study is the first

To average people,it must seem as if the field of artificial intelligence (AI)is making
great progress.Even a high-level manager in a high-tech company went so far as to think that
the attempt to create AI that has the flexibility and resourcefulness of human intelligence-
known as artificial general intelligence,or AGI,has reached a point where the game is over.
Don't be fooled.Machines may someday be as smart as people and perhaps even smarter, but
the game is far from over. There is still a large amount of work to be done in making machines
that truly can comprehend and reason about the world around them. What we need right now
is less posturing and more basic research.
At present,AI is making progress-synthetic (images look more and more
realistic, and speech recognition can often work in noisy environments-but we are still likely
decades away from general-purpose and human-level AI that can understand the true meanings
of articles and videos or deal with unexpected obstacles and interruptions. The field is stuck on
precisely the same challenges that academic scientists have been pointing out for years:getting
AI to be reliable and getting it to cope with unusual circumstances.
Unfortunately, the fact that these systems still fail to work reliably and struggle with
novel circumstances is usually buried in the fine print. One system, for instance, worked well
on all the tasks the high-tech company reported but rarely as well as other contemporary
systems.
Although deep learning has advanced the ability of machines to recognize patterns in
data,it has three major faults. The patterns that it learns are superficial(表面的),not
conceptual. The results it creates are hard to interpret and difficult to use in the context of
other processes, such as memory and reasoning. As Harvard University computer scientist
【高三英语第6页(共10页)】
Leslie Valiant noted,"The central challenge going forward is to unify the formulation (
of learning and reasoning."Given these limitations,it's time for AI researchers to concentrate
on building systems that can learn and reason, not just chase media attention.
32.How does the author develop paragraph 1?
A.By providing statistics.
B.By making assumptions.
C.By supporting the average people's views.
D.By contrasting the public idea with reality.
33.Which statement best fits the current AI?
A.It is recognized widely.
B.It can deal with unusual circumstances.
C.It is facing reliability issues.
D.It can understand the true meaning of the text.
34.What is the author's main purpose in writing the last paragraph?
A.To redirect AI research focus.B.To highlight AI's strengths.
C.To show AI's memory processes.
D.To praise the work of AI researchers.
35.What is a suitable title for the text?
A.AI Should Be Suspected B.Treat AI Reasonably

Finding motivation to exercise can be the greatest challenge in working out.36 One
way of achieving this could be opting for types of exercise that fit our personality.
We found that our personality can influence how we engage with exercise.37.When
we design and recommend physical activity programs, understanding personality factors is
very important. This is because it helps determine how successful the program will be,and
whether people will stick with it and become fitter.
38.This shapes our behaviors and how we interact with the world around us.
Therefore,it makes sense that personality would affect how we react to different levels of
exercise intensity. For example, people scoring high on extraversion (enjoyed high
intensity sessions with others around, including team sports. On the contrary, people scoring
high on neuroticism(神经质)preferred private workouts.
The most important part about exercising is finding something we enjoy and not being
discouraged if we don't immediately find it.It's OK if we don't enjoy a particular session.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Leo was a boy who spoke the language of computers better than the language of people.
At fifteen, his world existed in lines of code and digital landscapes. While other teenagers
worried about parties and popularity,Leo spent his nights creating video games in his
bedroom, where silence felt like a friend and the screen glowed with understanding.
However, everything changed when his family moved to a new city.Leo found himself
standing before Northwood High,a massive school where everyone seemed to have known
each other for years. The hallways were filled with conversations and laughter that didn't
include him.He felt like a character who had been dropped into the wrong game level,
without a map or instructions.
During his first week,Leo tried to fit in.He smiled at classmates and tried to start
conversations. But his words always came out awkward and stiff. His comments about video
game programming were met with confused looks or polite nods.By the second week,he had
given up.Every lunch period,he would find an empty table in the corner of the cafeteria and
eat alone, watching groups of friends share jokes and stories.
The loneliness grew heavier each day.Leo felt like a ghost moving through the crowded
hallways-visible but unseen,present but not really there.The school became a maze (
of closed doors, and he didn't have the key to any of them. The more he tried to connect, the
more he felt like he was failing at some important test everyone else had already passed.
So Leo did what felt safest-he retreated. After school each day,he would escape into his
digital world. He told himself he didn't need friends when he had his creations, but deep
down,he knew this wasn't true.

(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
