In a remarkable engineering achievement, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, now officially the world’s tallest bridge, has opened to traffic in the mountainous province of Guizhou, southwest China. Rising 625 meters above the Beipan River, the bridge deck stands twice as high as the Eiffel Tower and nearly nine times the height of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. This bridge stretches 2,890 meters in total length across the deep Huajiang Grand Canyon, which is often referred to as the “Earth’s crack”. Its main span of 1,420 meters also makes it the world’s largest spanning bridge built in a mountainous area. The bridge slashes the travel time between the two sides of the canyon from two hours to just two minutes, significantly improving local connectivity.
The construction of the bridge, which began in 2022 and was completed in September 2025, is a testament to China’s advanced infrastructure (基础设施) capabilities. To ensure its structural safety, engineers conducted a final load test before its opening. In this important test,96 trucks, weighing a total of about 3,300 tons, were driven onto the bridge in groups. To overcome challenges posed by complex geological conditions, and strong winds in the canyon, engineers employed innovative (创新的) technologies. The project successfully secured 21 authorized patents (专利), with its technical advances contributing to national standards for future bridge construction.
Guizhou Province, is already home to over 30,000 bridges. The previous record holder for the world’s tallest bridge, the Beipanjiang Bridge (565 meters high), is also in Guizhou and lies just about 60 km away from the new bridge. More than just a transportation link, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is expected to be a boost for regional economic development. By reducing travel time, it will promote trade and tourism. The bridge is also planned to combine with cultural tourism, featuring attractions like a cloud-top café and potentially a 625-meter bungee jump, making it a new landmark that combines infrastructure with sightseeing.

Shaw as highly valued and luxurious (奢侈的) for common people.(这件素色长袍“薄如蝉翼”,“轻如烟”,重49克。对于普通人来说,纱是很受重视和奢侈的)”和Luo Robe部分“Well-suited for the southern regions of China, luo has larger holes in the fabric compared with sha, making it more lightweight and breathable. From the Han Dynasty to the Tang and Song Dynasties, luo was mainly used for the upper class, and only officials of fifth rank or higher were permitted to wear clothes made of the material.(与沙相比,罗的面料孔更大,更轻便透气,非常适合中国南方地区。从汉代到唐宋,骆主要用于上层阶级,只有五级以上的官员才被允许穿这种材料制成的衣服)”可知,二者均重量轻且价格昂贵。故选A。

American country music is also known as country western music. It has a very long history. It comes from the folk songs of immigrants (移民) from Britain.
Country music uses simple music and words to express everyday feelings such as loneliness, love, and sadness. That is to say, country music describes life. It talks about friends and enemies, trucks and roads, farm and crops. People in many parts of the world like country music, because everyone can understand what the music is about.
Country western music became popular first among cowboys (牛仔) in the American west countryside. Cowboys had to take care of cows day and night. When they were alone with the cows, they often sang beautiful and peaceful songs to calm the animals and to overcome their own fear. They were not well-educated and so they sang about their daily life in very simple words. They played guitars, violins and other instruments. In the south of America, many people added instruments from their homes, like bottles and spoons. When cowboys visited their friends and families on holidays like Thanksgiving, they usually sang and played country western music.
In recent years, many musicians have made country western music a little different from the one in the past. These changes make the songs sound even better. Today singers such as Carth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett, Eddie Rabbitt, LeAnn Rimes, Randy Travis and a group called Alabama are singing and playing in different styles. They have brought country western music more and more fans from all over the world.

I never imagined that my life would be so challenging. As a child, I had a relatively ordinary (普通的) life, and I spent most of my days on the golf course, improving my skills and dreaming of one day becoming a champion golfer. However, little did I know that the road to success would be a long and winding one, and I faced lots of difficulties and disappointments along the way.
I clearly remember the day I turned professional (职业的). I was young, full of hope and ready to take on the world of golf with all my strength. I was looking forward to what the future would bring. However, reality soon set in, and I realized just how challenging the world of professional golf truly was. Despite my best efforts, I struggled to make a name for myself, continuously falling short in games and failing to live up to my own expectations.
Despite the difficulties, I refused to give up on my dreams. I trained harder than ever before, pushing myself to the limit and never losing sight of my goal. I spent countless hours on the course and in the gym, determined to succeed. As time went by, I began to make progress, and I started to see the results of my hard work paying off.
However, just as I thought things were starting to get better, a huge blow struck me. I suffered from a serious disease that threatened to end my life and everything I had treasured. Hearing this, I felt my spirit break into a million pieces and my heart felt heavy as if it had been weighed down by a ton of bricks. For a moment, I felt like everything I had worked so hard for was going away from me.

【答案】
But something inside me refused to let go of my dream. I knew that if I gave up now, all my hard work would be for nothing, which was something I couldn’t bear to think about. So, I held on to my dream with every ounce of strength I had left. I did rehabilitation exercises every day, hoping to recover as soon as possible. I also watched golf videos which recorded my past training moments, reminding myself that I would stand on the course again one day. I believed that with my determination and perseverance, I could overcome any obstacle that stood in my way.
Finally, after a long and painful treatment, I beat the disease. When I finally returned to the golf course, I felt a sense of excitement and anticipation that I hadn’t felt in a long time. I knew that the road ahead would still be tough, but I was ready to face whatever challenges came my way. I continued to train hard, and gradually, my skills began to improve. I was no longer the struggling professional golfer I once was; I was a fighter who had overcome adversity and was ready to take on the world once again.
